I've been passing by Los Moles for years and never stopped in until we had a graduation dinner there for my niece. The main reason I never went before was the parking situation, which honestly can be a little challenging, but for this visit we found parking down the block and around the corner. The short walk after dinner ended up being nice anyway. We had reservations, although we did wait about 15 extra minutes while another party finished their meal. My family member pointed out they were enjoying drinks, so that probably added some time. The waiter was very friendly, attentive, and clearly trying to get us seated as quickly as possible. Water was brought to the table right away, and our drink order was taken promptly. I ordered the chicken salad and was pleasantly surprised to learn the mango vinaigrette dressing did not contain oils, since I personally avoid seed oils. The salad was fresh and delicious. Some of my family members ordered the buffet, which looked incredible. At first it seemed like too much food for me that day, but once I saw everything included, I started thinking maybe I should have ordered it too since it was only about seven dollars more. They brought complimentary chips, guacamole, and salsa to the table, and everything was so flavorful. The guacamole was especially delicious, and they happily refilled the chips several times. I finally understood why the restaurant is called "Los Moles" because their mole sauces are outstanding. I got to try some from my son's plate, and it definitely made me want to come back and explore more of the different mole options. They also offer vegetarian choices, which is great. Although I am very particular about cooking surfaces, my food is cooked on and in, the Mexican coffee which was heated in some type of who knows what metal, had a good flavor. It inspired me to re-create it at home. Another standout for me was the freshly made corn tortillas served with the meals. They were soft, warm, and incredibly good. I called in for reservations for my birthday celebration in late January. Los Moles were very accommodating on the phone and when my party arrived. The service is top notch and the food?! Fire! Most of us gravitated towards the AYCE buffet that is only a weekend special. I legit tried a little bit of everything and it was all delicious. All the plates look great, from birria tacos, burritos, enchiladas with mole sauce, and fajitas. They served chicken, shredded beef, carnitas, and carne asada. I had the enchiladas with mole sauce. It had a lot of flavor, but i wasn't fond of the mole sauce. The service was very nice, but he was pretty busy with other tables. With grilled beef. Originally did not want to eat here considering the prices were a little high. However, after taking the first bite, I knew I was paying for flavor and fresh ingredients. The tacos are small, but with the rice and beans on the side, it fills you up quite nicely. The enmoladas: mango mole, was what my mom ordered. Originally we wanted the arroz verde, but they sold out. The flavor was nice and they do not skimp on the meat inside. Every bite is a fork full of meat. And we ordered the chicken so the seasoning was just right. After walking around IKEA for hours, this was a nice spot to relax and satisfy our hunger. Went here for AYCE Taco Tuesday and it was a pleasant experience. Surprisingly, there wasn't that long of a wait at around 7 PM. The price of an AYCE taco is very worth it. Some may say that the tacos are a bit bland/not the best they've had, BUT the price you're paying for unlimited, decent tacos?? WORTH. Then he took it and put extra lemon juice in my drink. Make it super sour and complete destroy the taste of my drink. I would recommend there all you can eat brunch only on Saturday's. My friend Kim said we have to go and try this place so we did. The options were fantastic and delicious. I am Mexican-American and I love Mexican food. The choices were so good I ended with a taster's plate of special dishes I like. They also had menudo and pozole but I was so focused on the moles and was not disappointed. They also had side dishes of rice and beans. Carnitas were also available. After two plates, I went back for some fruit to finish off the lunch and I was ready for my nap. I would definitely go back for the $25 cost per person for all you can eat. You can also order off the menu. No reservation needed but it was around 90% full when we arrived. There was plenty of street parking on 65th street and also offer outside tables as well. read more

Still one of my favorite places to grab incredible food. Family owned and they have great pride in their establishment. Pace yourself!!! You will want to try all of the fantastically tasty moles on your first outing, but you really have to pace yourself. Try 3 or 4 at the most. And then plan to return to try more. Each and every one is really great. Get there during happy hour for added music and drink deals. And get the buffet so you can try a selection of moles, with hand made tortillas and other sides. Los Moles is a great Mexican spot tucked away in a commercial part of Emeryville. They offer a variety of dishes: tacos, mole (of course), and interestingly, a $25 weekend buffet. Unfortunately, I wasn't hungry enough to justify going for the buffet. Instead, I ordered the beef fajitas (22), which consisted of a veritable pile of sizzling sliced meat, peppers, and red onions. Accompaniments included rice, beans, a classic trio of guacamole, salsa, and sour cream, plus flour tortillas. It was quite a mouthful, both to eat and to write down! I really enjoyed it - the meal was filling and well-balanced, each component quite flavorful on its own and even better when combined and wrapped up in a warm tortilla. We also got some chips and salsa (4, includes a red and a green salsa). Their chips are extraordinary; I am guessing they cut and fry them in-house. This meal hit all the spots. Next time, I'll make sure I'm properly famished so that I can take advantage of the buffet (most other people in the restaurant were doing it and it looked fantastic). read more

Arrived to this restaurant with a party of 10, the woman that sat us down, wasn't very polite didn't even say hello. Just asked how many we were and started walking away with menus in her hands. Naturally I assumed we were to follow her. As soon as I started to walk toward her, she turned around quickly stopped me and said hold on because I have to go get a table ready, but if she had said that before walking away, then I would've known not to follow her. We were seated quickly right after that. The restaurant wasn't really that busy. They did have a buffet option which, after walking the buffet, I decided to go with something off the menu rather than the buffet because of how it had looked like the food had just been sitting there all day.. We arrived about 8:30 in the evening, it had looked like the food was there all day. There were about five other tables of customer, I didn't see one person touch that buffet. I ordered the Chili Relleno dinner with the Mama Luisa mole sauce. OK so this was my first time ever at this restaurant so to my surprise when I receive my plate, my rice was green, which I had never seen before. Mind you I am Mexican so I am very familiar with Mexican food. When I had asked the waiter, why was the rice green his answer simply was "well you could've ordered regular Spanish rice" but how would I have known that if I had never been there before this, never was given that option at the time of placing my order, and the menu doesn't state that. I had to pay an additional five dollars for our Spanish rice because I did not like the green rice that came with my meal, instead of just exchanging it for me. Honestly, I don't understand the hype of the 30 ingredients mole sauce because to me it tasted and had the consistency of an Indian tikka masala. It may be because the owners of this restaurant are from a different part of Mexico, but I had never experienced this type of Mole sauce and I have traveled all over Mexico. I use way less ingredients than that and my mole is 10 times better than that one.. The worst part of the whole experience was toward the end when it was almost closing time there were two other tables, plus ours left when one of the waiters came over and started busting our table. I made a comment saying "oh not you trying to tell us to get out" in a very joking way and his response was "yeah that's the idea.".... Our whole table sat there for a quick second in disbelief that he had just made that extremely rude comment . I totally understand that they were closing, but there is a way of saying it's closing time because most restaurants would simply go over to a table and say, " hey is there anything else I can get for you guys because we're closing".. Tried the Burrito Mojado today, although I appreciated the size of burrito the flavor was completely lacking. I asked for guacamole that was not received the chicken was 2 minutes away from being dry if cooked any longer and the salsa provided was very sweet and did not complement the burrito well. I also found too much chicken gristle vs meat. I've ordered the mole itself from here which is good but I will never be ordering a burrito from here again wasn't worth the 20 dollars. Small, hidden gem amidst businesses. Service was very friendly and efficient. We arrived on a Saturday so they had the buffet. For a table of four we had cocktails for each and buffet for three. The drinks and food were delicious! The buffet provided a great opportunity to explore the range of moles. One in our group had the cucumber-based margarita and said it was the best margarita she's ever had. Honestly, you can't go wrong with any of the moles, but I'd definitely recommend getting two enchiladas, each with a different mole, to try more flavors. Happy hour is a steal, with chips and guacamole for just $7. The food comes out fast, fresh, and so tasty. Make sure to order the corn tortillas--they're handmade on the spot and absolutely worth it. Stopped by here on a whim for lunch a few weekends ago with my girlfriend - we were very pleasantly surprised We arrived a little after noon on a Sunday - the place was fairly crowded but there was still room and plenty of tables for other parties. We were greeted and then promptly seated. The restaurant itself is fairly quaint - there are a bunch of tables indoors and a few tables for outdoor seating as well. As you walk in , you can see a buffet table to the right (It appears that is a brunch option that is provided on weekends) For our meal we decided to go a la carte and order individual items. We started with Chips and Salsa and some micheladas. For our entrees I got a Burrito Mojado with Carnitas and Mole Mama Luisa (Mole Rojo) and my girlfriend got Enmoladas with Mole Pepian. The chips and salsa were fairly standard but we found our drinks and entree's to be exceptional. The Mole sauces in each of our dishes were complex and delicious - some of the best mole I've had since visiting Mexico city last summer. We thoroughly enjoyed our dishes and there was definitely plenty for leftovers too. The drinks were also fantastic - the house michelada was the best I have had in a while and the La Niña Fresa Michelada my girlfriend got was a fun sweet take on a michelada. All in all, we had a great experience here. Seeing as how we barely scratched the surface of the menu, I'm eager to come back and explore the other items (and moles). Came in on a Thursday night. I have tried the El Cerrito location but not this one before. It was busy for a week night. We were seated right away and the server came pretty quickly to take our order. I ordered a Smokey mezcal cocktail with a tajin rim. I didn't love it the taste was too smokey for me. The chips and salsa were good and fresh and had good flavor. The carne asada was good. I would have liked it to be seasoned a little more but it was good the beans, and veggies were good. The fresh tortillas were delicious. My husband enjoyed his burrito with the mole. I had a bite and it was tasty. I would come back to try more food and drinks. read more

Was craving chicken soup and found this great Mexican restaurant that serves a few different kinds of soup! Walked in and the place looked pretty nice had great atmosphere for happy hour! Even though we didn't have any drinks.we got free chips and salsa. I really liked the roasted flavour! Started out with ceviche and Mexican street corn! I had to try their soap de mar Isco seafood soup I really enjoyed it, it would have been better with other seafood ingredients. It had a few shrimp and a piece of fish with one slice of corn and carrots. We also had the chicken soup and let me tell you this soup had 2 nice pieces of chicken breast! Delicious! I love, love, love this place for their weekend Brunch! Totally recommend. On the weekend they have a buffet for $25, that's totally worth it. They have all you can eat of different types of chicken moles, menudo, cafe de olla, chilaquiles...and they recently added two vegan mole options. I'm vegetarian, so I usually order something off the menu, but I might try the vegan moles next time. This time I ordered the huarache and it was really good. And by far, my favorite drink is the cucumber micheladas! A must try. And everytime I come, staff is always super friendly. The only thing I would say is because it is a buffet, servers don't come around super frequently, so you do have to try a little harder to flag them down when you need something. It was a comfortable atmosphere and seating. It wasn't a big place though. It was full, A good sign. We went to the taco Tuesday Buffet , which was a deal for $15. I had cucumber drink which I never had before it was really refreshing not too sweet just right. So it's not really serve yourself except for things that you want to put on your taco. I guess they don't want people handling the meat which is understandable to keep it safe. I think it was basically chicken pork and beef, and a vegetarian option. With a couple different salsa available, there was pinto beans but no refried. Chips were not included. I wish they had chips and refried beans included. But everything was really good.
