I ordered from Todos Cantina via DoorDash after reading about chef Nolberto Martinez and his family's culinary reputation in the Bay Area. Given that background, what arrived at my door was honestly shocking. The burrito was cold, greasy, bizarrely thick and lumpy, and filled with some of the lowest-quality meat I've ever been served by a restaurant. Multiple bites literally had to be spit out. On top of that, the advertised ingredients (sour cream, pico de gallo, guacamole) were completely missing. What arrived was basically a dense tube of cheap rice and rubbery meat. At first I assumed this must have been a one-off disaster. Then I started reading the Yelp reviews. And suddenly a pattern emerged: stale chips, stale tacos, food making people sick, delivery orders arriving wrong or poorly made, hostile service interactions, customers being spoken to aggressively, and an overall sense that quality control has completely collapsed. One reviewer even described an employee asking if they "wanted to fight." Another described disputing charges over incorrect orders because the food quality was so poor. What makes this especially disappointing is that the restaurant presents itself as a serious modern Bay Area Mexican concept tied to an admired culinary name. Instead, the actual execution feels careless, inconsistent, and deeply below the standards the restaurant markets itself on. Restaurants can survive a bad night. What they cannot survive is the perception that nobody cares anymore. Right now, that is exactly the impression Todos Cantina gives off. Frankly, this is an embarrassment to the legacy and reputation associated with the Martinez name. I truly hope someone steps in and turns this place around, because based on my experience (and many others here) things have gone badly off the rails. read more

One of my new favorite Mexican restaurants in the Bay Area with a great happy hour! The chicken chili nachos were DELICIOUS and so filling! The only thing I did not like was the chipotle aioli, so I would remove this next time. This was only $7 during the happy hour, which is sooo worth it for the taste and portion. We actually placed the order like 2 minutes before happy hour started at 3pm (since we didn't know of the happy hour) and the server was kind enough to manually give us the happy hour price. They have a couple other $7 food items on the happy hour menu as well as $7 alcoholic drinks! We also ordered the crispy chicken taco. I was a little alarmed by the price at first, but when the food was delivered, I understood why. This was a MASSIVE taco and definitely worth $7.50! The taco was stuffed with flavorful grilled chicken, pico de gallo, and a huge dollop of guacamole. I was also pleasantly surprised that there was cheese in the taco! I like how you place your order via a QR code on the table and pay for it through your phone. You also grab water for yourself. It leads to an efficient dining experience. This is a great spot for introverts who don't like ordering with a server, LOL. They also have a counter for take-out orders only. While we dined at a table, there wasn't a notes section to indicate I wanted to place another order for takeout. So I went to the counter to order it. It would be nice to see them update the ordering system to indicate dine-in or takeout! I really want to come back to try their impossible (vegetarian) chorizo. After circling for parking 3+ times, I told my family if we don't find a space this last drive by, we will go to a different place for dinner and a different brewery! Got lucky and parked two blocks away. We also went to Lovely's restaurant and Two Pitchers Brewing premises. See pictures and other 5 star Yelp reviews. The last time I was here was for an amazing Yelp event in August of 2023! Only stopped by for their Happy Hour; see pictures. A good deal. This is a lovely restaurant with quirky wall art and a welcoming atmosphere. Both indoor and outdoor seating were available when I came by for dinner this past Saturday. I sat myself, then ordered via the digital dine-in QR code at the table (alternatively guests can order at the bar or counter). My order was ready in just 3 minutes. So fast and easy, with friendly and professional service by staff. Got the steak quesadilla without guacamole, a simple dish with great presentation and even better taste. It was definitely thicker than a typical quesadilla, and just the right size to fill my hunger without overeating. The meat was juicy, and there was a generous amount of cheese and sour cream stuffed into the golden crisp tortilla. It came with two sauces on the side, red and green. I preferred the latter. Todos is a friendly, community-oriented spot with plenty of seating, a bar and great vibes all around! The staff is very friendly and accommodating as well. As it was our first time ordering, they patiently walked us through the process and provided great recs for us to try. The food portions are generous here! I tried the quesadilla suiza con carnitas and it was so filling and delicious. The meat was tender and the cheese was nice and melty. The churro bites remind me of a pillowy beignet that are delicately coated with the cinnamon sugar mixture and dunk perfectly into the chocolate and caramel sauces. I didn't get to try the drinks this time but that's my goal for next time! I highly recommend checking this place out for a great time. read more

I just got to try Todos the other day. They have some outdoor tables that are spaced pretty far apart but since it's on the sidewalk, you would still have passersby walk by you and it's also a little scary of an intersection since there are many almost car accidents that happen out there - I witnessed several, as well other incidents of cars honking, in the span of about 1.5 hours. Crispy impossible chorizo taco, crispy: I was hesitant at first with it being a $7 taco, but pleasantly surprised by how large this taco was. They included a good amount of impossible meat, which is seasoned, so that carried the bulk of the flavor of the taco. Since I had chosen the "crispy" option, they actually put two taco shells, one soft tortilla and then a hard crispy shell outside of that. Agua fresca, pina: I liked this a lot, it was fruity without being overpoweringly sweet and it was a generously large size. Chips and salsa: The chips are alright, they taste at least somewhat salted which I appreciated. I did find that with the dips provided, it was somewhat manageable to scoop up salsa or guac, but very hard to scoop of the black bean sauce since it was very liquidy, and it was slightly spicy. It was a ton of chips, so I would recommend having at least a few people to share it. But it was pretty good amount of food for the price. Fries: They were fine, but I wish they were crispier personally since they were more on the thick and soft side. I only tried the fries since it was part of an order of chicken tenders and fries. Overall, pretty good food and I'm glad they have multiple vegetarian options, including having impossible meat options since I prefer to have some sort of protein or meat alternative instead of only vegetables. read more

Todos, so nice to meet ya! I'm always on the hunt for a spot that I can share a marg with a girlfriend while snacking on chips/guac/salsa. Have I found my new spot? Todos is located in Uptown Oakland..a spot that seems almost forgotten about ~ located on Valdez Street, there's plenty of metered parking, new developments, and if you may remember, Modern Times (and a few other spots used to inhabit this area pre pandemic times). BUT, Todos is a colorfully vibrant and lively establishment that beams good vibes, fresh Mexican food, and all the happy hour feels. We did the Cucumber-Cilantro Margarita and Mezcal Piña. Amazing! The marg was light and crisp, the mezcal smoky, and loved the hint of grilled pineapple and Fresno chili. Looked super pretty in a glass too :) Food-wise we asked for recs and they mentioned to get the carne asada. So we ordered street style tacos and the quesadilla suiza (both with carne asada). Comforting, delicious, and packed with juicy flavor. I also heard their signature queso dip is delicious (peep the Queso Fundido with Oacaxa cheese and Wagyu Beef Chorizo) as well as the Southwest Salad to share. Most recently someone asked me where they could grab a California Burrito and surprise, Todos is also your place for that! Next to the restaurant/bar, they also have a grab & go which was really hoppin' while we were there. There's a kids menu and something cool on the dessert menu for my Oakland peeps..a node to Gregory's desserts across the street with an item of theirs on the menu. Exterior seating as well. I would love to come back on a weekend, happy hour, or just to try more items from the menu. The burrito bowl is calling my name! Quick and friendly service, yummy food, fair pricing, awesome vibe. Perhaps it's an unfair comparison, but my immediate reaction when I entered the spacious premises was "Oh, it's Chevy's". That's not necessarily a bad thing as that was likely my introduction to Mexican cuisine way back when. Jamie W and I were taking a stroll around Lake Merritt when I recalled reading an online article about Nolberto Martinez, Jr., the general manager who gained a local following for his housemade menudo and pozole at his previous restaurant. Menudo sounded great. It was Sunday, so I thought for sure, they'd be serving it, and if not, certainly pozole. It just wasn't my day because it turned out they didn't prepare either soup. Bummer. Well, we stuck around and tried three of their other dishes. Jamie ordered the $14.95 Chicken Burrito Bowl, a by-the-numbers mix of pollo asado, Spanish rice, refried black beans, sour cream, pico de gallo, and guacamole (Photo 9). He deemed it pretty good. Still in the shadow cast by the absent menudo, I went for the $13.95 Chicken Tortilla Soup, a bowl of chicken soup with a base of tomatoes and onions and topped with jack cheese, avocado, lime, and of course, tortilla strips (Photo 7). Perhaps it was the way it was blended but the overall flavor was a bit in the bland side. I preferred my other order, the $20.95 Caesar Salad with Carnitas. It was simply made with romaine and kale were mixed with Caesar dressing. Parmesan, diced avocado, and croutons were tossed in, and a good-sized serving of shredded pork was placed on top (Photo 8). For me, this was a nice mix of flavors I wasn't expecting I'd like but I did with the carnitas lending the salad a smoky flavor. I'd definitely come back for that and hopefully there will be Norberto's menudo to savor on the next visit. I can only hope...or I can just call. OK, maybe it's not really a Chevy's knock-off. We found out about Todos from a Doordash promotion that was dine-in. Parking was difficult to find on a Friday evening, but the restaurant had open tables, which was great news. I decided to try the ceviche which seems to be new on their menu. Personally, I was not a huge fan of the ceviche. My standard for ceviche might be quite high as I've had ceviche from Canta Rana in Lima Peru, but this was such a far cry. It was mostly shrimp and a little too soupy. If you know, you know & if you don't, it's best you find out. Manager Beto Martinez has a longstanding presence in the Oakland community serving up some of the best Mexican food in the Bay & has been bringing so much life to this place with homemade, handcrafted recipes made in the tradition of the family who passed it on to him. I love the taste of legacy, don't you? What's good, you're wondering? EVERYTHING! Personally, I'd start with the Pozole and the fire salsa that goes with it. Unmistakably, the best Pozole in all of Oakland. I came in with my kid who is a picky eater & they approved of the burrito. If I remember correctly, they have a kids menu! For the grown ups, the cocktails here are spectacular, well balanced & served up by some of the friendliest folks. There is ample space at the bar and the vibrant colors n artwork on the walls definitely add a touch to the ambiance of the place. We ordered from the HH menu: two Baja fish tacos (the QR Toast app says it's mahi mahi, their website says corvina). They were a good size as was the crispy taco with carnitas. The tortilla wasn't crispy but the flavors were good. The salsas, while tasty, had no chili heat at all. Very mild. The HH margarita was good, but the paloma was pink and tasteless. First time to try Todos. I often notice how busy they are, tables out on the sidewalk, esp during happy hour time. Ours was a last minute decision, late night. Love the interior decor, the music, overall vibe and the bar design. I wished for fish tacos but not on the menu this day, they did offer shrimp tacos however. We enjoyed the chips, guacomole, flautas and enchiladas. The meat in both main dishes was a bit bland but I didn't mind. The side salad was really delicious, I could have a whole bowl of that another time. Margarita selections were nice but drinks were a bit weak compared to other places we've tried. I had one of the most unexpectedly amazing dating experiences at Todos in Oakland, a place I had never been to before. We stopped in the day after Christmas while riding our scooters, just looking for a quick drink and it turned into something truly special. From the moment we arrived, the openness and warmth of the staff stood out. They happily let us park our scooters next to our table and made us feel genuinely welcome. The vibe was relaxed, inclusive, and comfortable right away. We ordered food expecting something casual, but it was surprisingly excellent- thoughtfully prepared and full of flavor. And then came the cocktails... oh my god. Bartender Lilo is incredibly gifted. The way he balances flavors is unreal. Each drink felt like a perfectly crafted, orgasmic experience. Truly some of the best cocktails I've had, and absolutely worth returning for again and again. We also had the pleasure of chatting with Sammy, who delivered our food. He was friendly, attentive, and added to the overall warmth of the experience. I'm not sure why this place has so many good reviews. The service was good and everyone who worked here was nice. However, the crispy tacos had no crunch at all--just stale--and I couldn't finish them. My son ordered flautas, but they weren't crispy at all and he wouldn't eat them. I added chicken to a kids' quesadilla and it came out to $15, which felt overpriced. I wouldn't recommend this place, but of course that's just my personal opinion. The churro beignets go so crazy, I would probably eat those before eating anything else so that they are hot and fresh and you're not full. They're THAT good. I took a break from my burrito to eat all the beignets. It's just a little pricey in my opinion, (I had a burrito and the beignets and it came out to around $35 with tax) so be prepared to pay a little more if you have 2+ people. My experience with Todos was very positive and I'll definitely be saving this as my go-to restaurant for Mexican style food in Oakland! I ordered the Burrito Bowl with Carnitas, and a side of chips (although I think they give you chips already). The bowl was huge and it was fantastic! I love eating them with chips, and the chips there were pretty good, but exceptionally yummy paired with my burrito bowl! I even forgot to make an alteration to my bowl, but ended up loving all the ingredients inside it because they all pair so well together! The service was also top notch; Our servers were all very nice, the service was very quick, and they were very friendly the entire time, even helping us take a group photo! They have a lot of seats for people to go in groups, and it's in a nice little spot in Oakland in close proximity to the Lake. I would definitely recommend Todos to anyone in the downtown Oakland area, because I'll definitely be going back as well to try more! read more

I have been a customer at Todos Cantina for years since I work nearby, and I want to start by saying that this experience does not reflect the many positive visits I've had in the past. However, what occurred during my most recent visit was serious enough that I feel obligated to bring it to management's attention. My group was seated at the bar as they mainly came in for drinks. One friend placed their food order at the ordering counter without any issue. I then approached the same counter to place my order as well. The employee working there refused to take my order and told me that I had to order online, despite the fact that I was already inside the restaurant and other customers before me had ordered normally at the counter. Wanting to understand why I was being treated differently, my friend and I calmly approached him to ask what the issue was and why he did not want my business. He responded by asking, "Do you want to fight me?" For context, I was simply trying to order food. I am not about confrontation, but I do believe in fairness and equal treatment, and the situation immediately felt hostile and unnecessary. I was shocked and attempted to de-escalate the interaction, explaining that I only wanted to place my order. Instead, the employee continued behaving in a hostile and dismissive manner, pointing toward my group and telling me to "go there and cry." I understand that it was a busy weekend in the city, although the restaurant was not over capacity. Still, no circumstance justifies speaking to a customer in this way. I have never filed a complaint like this before, but this interaction crossed a line. Customers should never be treated in an aggressive or confrontational manner. Based on this experience, I do not believe this individual should remain in a public-facing role. At this point, I would not feel comfortable returning on my own for lunch, as I usually do, while this person is working there. When I spoke with another employee, a bartender, and asked to speak with a manager to report the situation, I was told that no manager was on site at the time, which was also concerning. I do want to thank the bartender who took the time to listen to me and do his best to offer a solution in the moment. However, this situation needed to be formally brought to management's attention. As someone who has supported this business for years, I am sharing this feedback because I know this behavior does not represent the standard of service Todos Cantina is known for. I respectfully request that management review this incident and take appropriate action. I would appreciate being contacted directly to confirm how this matter has been addressed so that I can feel safe returning and continue recommending the restaurant. read more
