Camarones Al Ajo Cremoso was a February special. I ordered it earlier in February and we made a point to go back on February 28 to try it again. It was seriously a memorable meal. The sauce was a simple garlic creme sauce with a touch of lemon, cilantro , onions and chili, but was not hot. The shrimp with garlic sauce was served with baby carrots and green rice. I hope they will make this a staple on their menu. It could easily be their signature dish. Cafe de Olla -had a splash of milk added, but normally it comes black. The coffee had a nice sweetness and you don't need to add sugar. PIPIAN TACOS Rotisserie Chicken or Pork Shoulder, Oaxacan Brown Mole Sauce with Red Chiles, Onion-Jalapeño Curtido If you like spicy , you will love this dish. The meat was covered with a spicy chil sauce that was absolutely delicious, but HOT. Interestingly, the dish had a small bowl of mole sauce that was not spicy and was a delicious dipping sauce for the taco. However the person who ordered this dish said she would ask to see if she could order the rotisserie chicken without the spicy sauce. She asked did ask for sour cream to tone down the heat. She thought the meat was very delicious, just too hot. read more

Well as promised, we returned -- this time for brunch -- and I'm really glad we did. This quickly became one of our favorite brunch experiences in the area, and being so close to home is a huge bonus. On our first visit, I definitely overlooked a lot. The space is beautifully designed, especially the extended dining area, and the staff operates with an impressive level of efficiency and expertise. Everything just felt more noticeable this time around, in the best way. We also had the pleasure of chatting with who I believe was a manager, who was incredibly kind and helpful in answering our questions. Food was good I completely forgot to take photos. It was our first visit and our server was incredibly kind and helpful, walking us through the menu and lighting up when she recommended certain dishes--and she did not steer us wrong. The nachos with guacamole were packed with flavor and had the perfect chip-to-cheese-to-bean (and everything else) ratio. Just delicious. We also ordered the carne asada tacos, which were generously filled with well-seasoned, perfectly cooked meat--never dry or overly salty. They're street-taco sized but come with doubled tortillas, and the verde sauce had just the right amount of tang. After our first visit we had to come back to try some more. The chips and guacamole to start is always a good thing here. Chips are fresh and crunchy, and the guacamole is delicious. We ordered the pastor tacos and the mushroom quesadilla. The pastor had great flavor, have to have pineapples in it which it did so that added flavor just brings everything together, and it was cooked perfect. The quesadilla tortilla had good flavor to it, and the mushrooms were very tasty. Definitely, will be back again for more of something new. read more

This place is perfect if you're looking for a casual to nice place to have dinner. The inside looks clean and modern plus the lights are dim which adds to the vibe. I ordered shrimp ceviche which was really fresh. I also ordered enchiladas verde. I was really impressed with the quality of the food and would come back just for that. Lastly, I got a hibiscus agua fresca which I did not like. It was too sweet and I was getting grains of sugar as I sipped the drink. I did stand at the front waiting for about 5 minutes before someone came by, there was a lot of empty tables. It would be nice to at least be addressed and told they'd be right with me shortly. We started with the guacamole and chips and chicken empanadas, both fantastic. The guacamole came with an extra spicy salsa that added the perfect kick. We just discovered this place after getting my haircut and we're glad we did! It's a nice little oasis on University Ave near 9th Avenue. Great atmosphere inside and wonderful friendly service. Nonetheless, we had a great meal with al pastor, carne asada, and fish tacos! All the tacos were extremely juicy and well seasoned, but my favorite was definitely the fish tacos. The fish was a white fish that was plump and crispy with a good proportion of batter to fish ratio. The fish tacos came in two (vs 3 regularly), but we didn't mind--it was huge! Plain beans and rice means a plain burrito. Hot sauce was spicy and good. Tacos were better because it was just meat, but even then dry and not as flavorful as I would have liked. Stuff looks good. Started with the ceviche Sonora and it was spot on fresh and delicious-- came with both fish and shrimp with a side of tortilla chips. The Al pastor taco may be one of the best tacos in Berkeley. It was juicy with fresh chunks of pineapple, served in that double tortilla ; it was the damn closest thing to perfection I've had in taco form in Berkeley. The fish taco was also a delicious taco specimen. The salad was tasty and extremely fresh and large (no bagged salad here), but simple. I added a side of chicken and they legit brought a side plate of a heaping portion of chicken. The space is great for groups - it's large. During the weekday it's counter service but evening is table service. There's a long bar, so a great spot to post up as well. This spot is delicious, reasonably priced and has a lot of potential. Friendly service from being greeted , seated and throughout dining time. First time here. Seated immediately, no wait for a Friday night. The interiors are very nicely designed. Food is prepared and presented nicely. I had the pulled pork tacos. Pork was very juicy and salsa was spicy! The ordered of tacos came with 3 tacos, two were plenty as I had to pack the 3rd one to bring home. We also ordered a ceviche. Our server asked if we wanted medium or spicy, we asked for spicy but it wasn't that spicy. Our servicer was awesome, he answered all of our questions and was super friendly.
