Took our moms out for an early Mother's Day brunch on Saturday, May 9, and decided to try this place because the food looked authentic and incredibly appealing. My mother is Mexican and refuses to eat pretty much anything other than Mexican food (I'm trying to widen her palate little by little ), so this felt like the perfect spot. Everything was absolutely delicious and full of authentic flavor. The octopus al pastor tacos were cooked to perfection, and my barbacoa was exploding with flavor. The staff was very attentive and welcoming throughout our visit. It was a little loud, but honestly that's expected since many of us were celebrating Mother's Day brunch early. Definitely can't wait to come back again!

When it comes to Mexican food, Berkeley has a lot of greatness near campus--like Comal on shattuck & Cancun on Allston---but instead of walking to those two delicious spots, I hop I. My car and drive 10 minutes west on University avenue because I simply cannot get enough of the exquisite cuisine from Mercado 925. I can confidently say this is the best boujee Mexican restaurant in Berkeley atm

Camarones Al Ajo Cremoso was a February special. I ordered it earlier in February and we made a point to go back on February 28 to try it again. It was seriously a memorable meal. The sauce was a simple garlic creme sauce with a touch of lemon, cilantro , onions and chili, but was not hot. The shrimp with garlic sauce was served with baby carrots and green rice. I hope they will make this a staple on their menu. It could easily be their signature dish. Cafe de Olla -had a splash of milk added, but normally it comes black. The coffee had a nice sweetness and you don't need to add sugar. PIPIAN TACOS Rotisserie Chicken or Pork Shoulder, Oaxacan Brown Mole Sauce with Red Chiles, Onion-Jalapeño Curtido If you like spicy , you will love this dish. The meat was covered with a spicy chil sauce that was absolutely delicious, but HOT. Interestingly, the dish had a small bowl of mole sauce that was not spicy and was a delicious dipping sauce for the taco. However the person who ordered this dish said she would ask to see if she could order the rotisserie chicken without the spicy sauce. She asked did ask for sour cream to tone down the heat. She thought the meat was very delicious, just too hot.

Date-night alert! We were looking for the perfect date-night spot and luckily came across this wonderful, quaint restaurant. The service was outstanding, and the food was absolutely delicious. We drove all the way from Antioch to Berkeley just to try this hidden gem, and it exceeded our expectations. We were so impressed that we're already planning to come back this weekend with family and friends. The service was exquisite, and the food was truly remarkable definitely something worth bragging about!

Well as promised, we returned -- this time for brunch -- and I'm really glad we did. This quickly became one of our favorite brunch experiences in the area, and being so close to home is a huge bonus. On our first visit, I definitely overlooked a lot. The space is beautifully designed, especially the extended dining area, and the staff operates with an impressive level of efficiency and expertise. Everything just felt more noticeable this time around, in the best way. We also had the pleasure of chatting with who I believe was a manager, who was incredibly kind and helpful in answering our questions. That extra level of hospitality really elevated the experience and left a lasting impression. P.S. The blue corn pancakes are amazing! BB

First time here. Was thinking this was going to be another regular Mexican restaurant NOPE. This place is a hidden gem. The food was simple but delicious. The chicken in the empanadas was seasoned perfectly and the mole was sweet. The black bean were a little over done but in all it was delicious, fresh and you can smell the foods when walking in

Food was overall really good! Drinks were strong just how we like them! The pulpo Al pastor taco was actually very tender, juicy, and packed full of flavor! Ambience was nice, bar was beautiful and had a nice indoor/outdoor feel to it! Our server was amazing at explaining the different foods and was on point with his service! It's a must try if you're in Berkeley looking for a dinner with a sweet ambience and good drinks! Definitely will be back.

This place is perfect if you're looking for a casual to nice place to have dinner. The inside looks clean and modern plus the lights are dim which adds to the vibe. I ordered shrimp ceviche which was really fresh. I also ordered enchiladas verde. I was really impressed with the quality of the food and would come back just for that. Lastly, I got a hibiscus agua fresca which I did not like. It was too sweet and I was getting grains of sugar as I sipped the drink. I did stand at the front waiting for about 5 minutes before someone came by, there was a lot of empty tables. It would be nice to at least be addressed and told they'd be right with me shortly. My server was friendly and attentive.

A bit on the pricey side for Mexican food but the quality and the nice vibe of the restaurant make the price worth it. Great date night spot and it's a surprisingly big restaurant. Loved the Al pastor tacos, fish tacos and ceviche. I was super excited to try the pozole verde as I love pozole but it was way too heavy on the dried oregano flavor for my taste. Definitely want to come back and try some of their other food!

We love this place. Weekend brunch is excellent table service, weekday lunch you order at the counter and the food is brought to your table. Spacious and airy venue, excellent food, beautifully presented.

This place is now on our list of best Mexican food. The reviews are totally legit. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious! We started with the guacamole and chips and chicken empanadas, both fantastic. The guacamole came with an extra spicy salsa that added the perfect kick. For mains, we had Carne Asada tacos, Carnitas tacos, and a verde enchilada. Every dish tasted incredibly fresh, and the meats were perfectly cooked. Even the enchiladas, which can sometimes feel heavy, were flavorful without being overwhelming. The service was a perfect 10/10--friendly, attentive, and quick. The restaurant is spotless and beautifully decorated with a clean, modern Mexican vibe. If you're looking for an upscale yet authentic Mexican restaurant, this spot should be at the top of your list.

We just discovered this place after getting my haircut and we're glad we did! It's a nice little oasis on University Ave near 9th Avenue. Great atmosphere inside and wonderful friendly service. We were checked on several times by a couple of people. The pulled pork nachos were delicious and the chips stayed crisp to the end. Great flavor and spices that went perfect with our beer. This is now on our rotation and we will be returning!

I don't see vegan option on the menu online. Do they have any? Are the veggies cooked separately from the meats?

They have a fried tofu taco that is vegan and good. Note that the tofu is not fried in different oil than the meat or fish.

Not too oily, crisp edges and tender in the middle... the dream. Their fried fish tacos are FRESHLY fried which is a world of difference - hefty portion. I tend to get their grande tacos, they're a meal in itself. A good way to try their different meats too! Their menudo is something special, worth the price with an ample helping of tripe and fresh veg. Can't go wrong here. I still feel that way, but recently I reserved a table for 4 and two things really stuck in my mind negatively after spending the evening there that wanted to alert the restaurant to. I worked in restaurants for 15 years so I know not every day is your best, and that getting things right is the first priority, not schmoozing, so this isn't about friendliness. The server was fine in terms of checking up on us, but didn't engage our request for recommendations for dinner or wine; no biggie, but when the check came she a) didn't mention that the tip was included, and my generous boyfriend (who wanted to snag the card and pay quickly without letting others get a chance) would have tipped another $80 had I not gotten up from the table and asked whether tip was included. On large checks the server should tell the group immediately not to worry about calculating the tip, and still act like she is earning it by taking good care of the table, refilling wine glasses when we ordered a bottle, etc. what really got me though was when we requested -- she didn't offer-- the remaining food on the table to go, she came with two piles of boxes and put them on the edge of the table. Again, my no-fuss boyfriend said he didn't mind packing the food up, but I think if you spend $450 on a dinner they could at least offer to neatly pack the food to go. It's a chore that I want to leave at home, plus it can be messy. It annoyed me a lot that the money we spent didn't seem to be appreciated and we had to basically clean up our table at the end. Not a good service night. Can you make it a policy to at least offer to pack the food? Comal isn't that type of pandemic restaurant that drops customer service in favor of pretend hygiene, and I just wonder if the standards are slipping or it was just a one off
