    Huarache

This will probably become one of my go-to local restaurants. There is no shortage of Mexican cuisine in the area but WOW. My friend and I split two plates and each were amazing. We had never had "huarache" before. Went with "carnitas". Tender, juicy, and flavorful. 3 different sauces lined up. We also got a "Chile con queso" tamale. It wasn't a tamalito; it was a tamalon! The masa was perfect. They have an old school salsa bar and make fresh chips for you to munch on while you wait for your food to be made fresh. Love the back patio! Spacious and colorful. The staff was A+. Will be returning to work my way through that menu!

Street parking but it wasn't so bad. Staff was really friendly and patient. Lots of food for the combos and good value. Lots of seating in the enclosed back patio. The food is good and worth the try.

WOW WOW WOW! Amazing food and excellent customer service! Ventured out the east bay while family was in town and decided on this place for dinner and it did not disappoint. Order at the counter and pick a seat. We sat in the backyard area with the heaters. Self serve chips and salsa 10/10! The green salsa was probably the best one. Our food came out perfect and hot! Double miche was delicious and hit the spot. My mom got the milanesa torta, my sister got the super carne asada quesadilla, my boyfriend had the quesabirria tacos and I had the camarones a la diabla. Everything was so tasty! I would definitely recommend coming here and giving them a try and ring the bell on your way out! They will not disappoint!

    Super Burrito ~ Chicken

First time at Sol Taqueria and unfortunately they were still working on the outdoor space, so looking forward to coming back for the patio seating! Until then, we enjoyed the juicy chicken super burrito, flavorful and wallet friendly tacos (they have a great Taco Tuesday special FYI), and chips/salsa bar indoors tapping our feet to the fun music and vibrant wallpaper art. I also dig a salsa bar with a variety. Metered parking is available and so are menus for breakfast and kiddos! Huevos Con Jamon and the Breakfast Burrito look super yummy, and on the lunch/dinner menu the nachos, tortas, and super bowls look equally as delicious for a new local spot for authentic Jalisco-style Mexican cuisine. The chicken, steak, and al pastor are all winners, and the service is stellar. Until next time!

My daughter and I tried this small Berkeley taqueria out and left out feeling really good. The young man taking order was very helpful and gave us exceptional service. He offered us free chips and salsa and fruit . The variety of salsa was obviously homemade and spicy to my liking. The rice and beans had an authentic Mexican taste. The enchiladas sauce was delicious as well as homemade tamale. The food, service, atmosphere and experience easily ranks as 5 star. Oh BTW we rang the "Bell" on our way out and the staff shouted out joy!

    Chorizo Breakfast Burrito

They are offering a 2 for 1 on breakfast burritos from 9-11am so I had to check them out. This deal applies to either a bacon, jamon, or chorizo burrito. I got the chorizo and bacon. Total was $13.78 with access to a sauce bar with other sides like picked jalapeños and carrots. There are also tortilla chips available so I'd say it's worth the deal. I would say the chorizo was better than the bacon, but the bacon had some good chunks of meat in there. It was tightly rolled, decent size, and with the other sides and sauces, it was fantastic. The green sauce is mild, the orange sauce has a little kick and the red sauce is the hottest which I did not try, but since the orange sauce wasn't too spicy, I might try it next time. Service is super friendly and answered all my questions regarding the sauces. The restaurant is clean and very neat. It has cool decorations on the walls. There are about 12-15ish seats inside. This place offers a Taco Tuesday which I plan on trying, but overall, I would go back again just to try other menu items with all the sauces. Go check them out!

    Molcajete
    Danielle M.

Saw this restaurant pop up on tik tok and checked it out on a Saturday for lunch. Not busy and plenty of seating with a beautiful patio for a sunny day. We ordered the molcajete with a side order or rice and beans. Beautiful presentation and amazing taste ( not spicy) but they had plenty of salsa options to make it your own. Authentic flavor with a mix of veggies, steak, nopal, chicken, shrimp, and fish. Huge plus for drink refills of agua fresca and the chips and salsa bar ( complementary)!

First time here-the service was excellent, portions were great and balanced, loved the patio with multiple screens. Will definitely be back!

Some of the best Mexican I've ever had even in comparison to Los Angeles, San Diego and Mexico. Such fresh food for such a good price. So authentic and incredible vibes in the space too. New go to spot.

Everyone there was very friendly and accommodating, especially since my parents are getting a little old. We got a table inside eventually away from the draft coming from the entrance. We ordered the khanom krok to start and we ended ordering a few mains but shared everything family style. It was so tender, literally shredding so easily with just a stab of my fork. The savory chicken paired perfectly with the slightly sweeter croffle underneath. The croffle itself had that perfect crunch from all the layers of a croissant but with the softness of an actual waffle. The food was always good, but the service was never particularly warm--polite, efficient, and impersonal, like a well-drilled operation. There was no one waiting behind us, but we were met with an inflexible, robotic "sorry, we're closed." No one was overtly rude, but the interaction felt rigid and mechanical, as if following procedure mattered more than acknowledging the people standing in front of them. It would not have taken much effort to accept one last order from a loyal couple with a newborn--especially since nobody else was waiting behind us. In the end, Standard Fare is closing exactly as it operated: precise, rigid, and lacking warmth. Hopefully the next business in this location will treat its customers with a bit more empathy.

The waffle batter tastes homemade and the butter takes it to another level... it's one of those dishes you keep thinking about after. I'll even DoorDash it all the way to Jingletown. The food always looked really good, but for whatever reason I always ended up ordering from somewhere else. Well, I finally did it. I finally ordered from Cali Alley, and all I have to say is, why did I wait so darn long? Door Dash was having a 2-for-1 deal on the Cali Alley Burger, so I ordered one of those (and got another for free) , as well as on the small mac and cheese, so I ended up with two of those as well. I got fries as he side for the burgers and saved the second burger and mac and cheese for the next day. I also bought a small side of veggie fried rice for lunch later in the week. OK, let's start with the fries ... wow. Super crispy. Don't know what they do to them, but I think I almost ate all the fries that came with one of the burgers before I even touched the burger. The fries seemed to have a coating like some fries do to make them extra crispy on the outside. Whatever it was, it made them so good, I couldn't stop eating them. I was almost too full for the burger. But who are we kidding? If there is one thing I am good at, it is eating more than I should. The burger, which is described on Door Dash as "char grilled, fresh ground brisket and short rib burger, served on a toasted brioche fun with crisp lettuce, tomato onion marmalade and garlic aioli" was thick and incredibly flavorful. I couldn't stop eating that, either. It was that good. I ordered it medium, and it was pretty pink, but it was sooooooo flavorful, and all the toppings worked well together. I didn't get any cheese on it because I wanted to try to burger by itself and not mask it with cheese. I might try adding cheese next time, but honestly the burger is so good, I almost wouldn't want to cover up its flavor with cheese. Oh, I almost forgot. When you order on Door Dash, you can opt to have them include a small side of their chocolate-chipotle bbq sauce, and I highly recommend that you get it. It's a really interesting flavor and is good for dipping the fries in. I didn't try putting it on the burger, but that might be good, too. The mac and cheese was OK. It's important to note that I enjoyed the flavor but it is more of an eggy consistency than a saucy mac and cheese if that makes sense. It has a nice kick of black pepper, which I liked, though. The vegetarian fried rice was also fine but could have used a little salt. All that to say, don't be like me and procrastinate, get the Cali Alley Burger and fries ASAP.
