Fritatta w/fennel sausage, sourdough toast and an Arnold Palmer drink.
    Felisha T.

Very cute and quaint spot for breakfast. A friend suggested we meet here on Saturday for a late breakfast, what a great choice. It was pretty hard to pick from the menu items, but I settled on the Frittata with a side of Fennel Sausage, sourdough toast and a Arnold Palmer. Although the seating was full, thank goodness out food came out just as some seats were emptying out. It was a chilly day and the outside seating was full too. The service was without any complaints. They did their best to accommodate all patrons despite it being very crowded and crazy busy. Overall I would come back here, probably right as the doors open to be guaranteed a place to seat and not have to wait and hope for a seat. Oh the music was on point!! Put it on your list, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Super cute place!!! You can sit outdoors or indoors!!! When the sun is shining, that outdoor patio is the best. It has that rustic modern feel On the weekend it's a vibe, with a ton of people and good food! Service is super welcoming and efficient! Onto the food! -Loved the breakfast plate!!! The homemade sausage is super fresh, low salt, and flavorful. I love the bread with that crunchy crust -Loved the toast with ricotta and homemade jam. So wonderful cozy and delicious. I could eat this every weekend -Breakfast sandwich inside is good. The biscuit was just ok but definitely get the other two choices above -Baked goods: the carrot cake has a good flavor and is healthy, strawberry cornmeal cake is good, sticky bun is yums too Cheers!

Dropped in yesterday for breakfast for the first time in 8 years or so! Had a quick little girls morning and arrived about 9:15am, and there wasn't a line and there was plenty of seating. We grabbed two stools by the window and had a wonderful, easy morning at Standard Fare-- a beloved Berkeley favorite. I got the seasonal olive oil cake which was strawberry and asian pear. It was moist, delicious and went perfectly with my coffee. I always have to have something savory as well, so I also had a veggie frittata and it had so much flavor! Those caramelized onions and were *chefs kiss. It's a small and cozy setting, so it's not the best for large parties, although they have some outdoor seating which is probably better for groups of 5 or more. I love the openness of the kitchen and the overall vibes of the kitchen preparing your food. Docked a star for service. I don't think the woman who took our order smiled once. She wasn't welcoming-- just took our order and handed us our number. The female barista and another female server/expo that was very friendly, but the lady who took our order left a sour taste in my mouth. You're the first person to greet your guests... I would love to try out their dinner sometime!

The long weekend line of people always held me back from going, while also signaling that this place is well loved. I'm glad to finally stop in! I only had a small bite for breakfast - everything was seasoned well, from the egg, homemade jam and biscuits were yummy. Coffee was pretty good too. I loved the outdoor seating area and the ambience overall is great. I'm excited to try more things on the menu in the future!

Cheesy scrambled eggs, oatmeal, Cara Cara olive oil cake

Excellent brunch spot in Berkeley. Kind service and a nice friendly vibe. Indoor and outdoor seating available. The cheesy scrambled eggs with house made fennel sausage was really good. The white beans were very soft and flavorful with the green sauce and the arugula pairing. The bread was crunchy and toasted perfectly. The oatmeal with pluot jam, marscapone, and candied walnuts was delicious and not too sweet with just the right level of creaminess and crunch. I didn't get a shot of permission pudding we ordered because it was scarfed down too fast but the Cara Cara orange olive oil cake was very flavorful and bitter but very umami and different. My cold brew coffee with oat milk was great and I didn't need sugar. Great brunch date spot and I saw lots of kids! Very kid and baby friendly!

Love the life that this spot has. Arrived minutes after opening and there were already a few people eating. The options satisfy both savory and the sweet cravings but I chose sweet this morning. The baby biscuits were perfectly flaky and light. The olive oil cake was amazingly moist and the hint of sweet just made it so easy to devour. I also got a mocha which was not at all sweet so it made for a perfect breakfast. The folks behind the counter were super friendly, which added to the experience in a positive way. I would eat here all the time if I could afford it. Definitely a great special treat spot.

Mushroom, Leeks, and Ricotta Toast ($15.50) Was alright. Flavors need to be better balanced.

Did take out Saturday brunch here over the weekend. Ordered the "Sourdough Waffle with Brown Butter Apple Compote" topped with a fried egg ($14.50) and the "Mushroom, Leeks, and Ricotta Toast" ($15.50) The staff member taking my order was very friendly. Total bill was $38.04 with tax and tip. I enjoyed the farmhouse meets industrial aesthetic of the restaurant and the ample outdoor seating options. It was a busy Saturday brunch rush and the atmosphere felt lively and jovial. The sourdough waffle is a fun, flavorful dish with a crispy texture. It pairs well with an egg, and the runny yolk adds a savory touch. The combination of sweet, savory, and a slight sourness from the sourdough is delicious. The apple compote is sweet enough that you can go light on the syrup. I recommend dipping the syrup to control sweetness and keep the waffle crispy. 5/5 stars. I'd definitely get this again. The ricotta toast was a bit over salted, and the mild ricotta and mushrooms were overwhelmed by the grassy flavors from the larger quantity of asparagus and leeks. The dish needs better balance, but a squeeze of the included lemon wedge did help to tone down the grassiness and brighten the flavor, though still made it difficult to taste the mushrooms and ricotta. 3.5/5 stars. I'm not likely to order it again. It was a nice experience overall! I would visit again.

Do go here, do enjoy the sweets and the savory foods. The service is helpful, the ambiance is perfect for a brunch after a boozy night out. I'd highly recommend this spot.

I just stumbled upon this restaurant a couple weeks ago and I'm so glad I did. The staff have always been welcoming and friendly. The restaurant is cute and classy. I love that there is plenty of outdoor seating as well. The first time I came they had Monterey Bay Squid with Beans and it was sooo flavorful. I enjoyed it so much. I've also tried the biscuit sandwhich and that was yummy. I enjoyed the flaky biscuit. I came back to try the new dinner menu this week and I got the trout and beet salad. All the flavors blended so well together. So far I have enjoyed every dish I've had here and I can't wait to come again.

Came here on a whim with a friend and we had two coffees and two frittatas. Waiting in line took about 10-15 minutes not bad for a Saturday. There is seating outside and inside and free street parking. Great for a quick bite. Would come back here again. The egg dish sounded good but it has cheese in it and I'm lactose intolerant. Maybe order it without the cheese.

Loved our Saturday casual brunch here. Limited seating inside but there's outdoor tables and also a nice long bench with cushions so even with a long line to order we had no problem finding seats outside. I got the daily special cheesy scrambled eggs with the sausage. Husband got the ricotta toast which looked good. Food is on the pricey side but everything was tasty. Definitely want to check out dinner sometime and some desserts

Is there an outside patio area where dogs are allowed?

Ya! There's seating out front - it's like a long bench with stools (so no tables, but people will use the stools as small tables) but I've definitely seen dogs sitting out there!

The bakery itself seems to mainly be a takeout spot, with minimal indoor seating which felt pretty inconvenient given the limited space for customers, however it did seem to serve more of a purpose as a waiting area anyways. The structure of the bakery leaves a bit to be desired as well, as we found the glass display cases as the only form of menu, so being in the front of the line while still deciding what to order caused some unnecessary anxiety. Regardless of those nitpicks, the baked goods themselves were pretty good! Service was instant, and all of the treats looked delicious--it was hard to choose what we wanted! Our favorites were the Thai Tea and Ube Coconut Mochi Donuts. Both had really strong flavors--the Ube in particular was very clear in comparison to most other Ube desserts in my experience. The textures of the mochi donuts were really well done too, with soft exteriors and chewy, glutinous interiors. The same can be said about the Mochi Muffins, though with crunchier parts around the edges. We found the contrast of textures to actually work really well! However, the flavors of the Muffins were lacking a bit--the Red Velvet didn't stand out much, with the frosting tasting a bit too sweet, and while the Five Spice had a really interesting flavor, it was also a bit too sweet, drowning out the more unique citrusy flavor. Overall, however, all four of the goods we had were enjoyable eats, and would definitely return some time to try out other flavors!

We had been to Tarocco for lunch and figured we would ask them for a quote, too. My daughter warned me that the owner is trying to be an "influencer" on Instagram and posts photos of herself in crop Tops so I should beware, but that's fine by me. We called to get a quote and had a discussion. After we gave the owner all of our information, she told us she wouldn't give us a quote unless we came in person (?!) Which is weird because this isn't how restaurants work. Typically for events restaurants will give you a quote via phone or email for the sake of convenience. We had gotten 3 quotes already from other restaurants via phone. Making us drive 45 mins just to get a quote is a total waste of time. Especially if we can't afford it. So my daughter called again, left a VM explaining we couldn't come in person due to time constraints, and again asked for a quote. No reply. We waited a few days and called again. No reply. Finally we got a voicemail from the owner saying that she didn't like my daughter's attitude ?!!! Apparently you're not allowed to ask this restaurant how much they charge for events unless you're face to face. This lady has absolutely no idea how to run a restaurant. We took our business elsewhere and recommend that you do, too.

Their menu showed items like waffles and croissant French toast, which sounded really promising. I decided to try the croissant French toast and really wanted to like it. The croissant itself had potential, but the egg mixture was very heavy and lacked some of the warm flavors you typically expect in French toast, like cinnamon or vanilla. Even with the berries and syrup, it still leaned very egg-forward. I also ordered a side of bacon for some extra protein, and that was actually cooked really well. For drinks, I tried the strawberry latte with the vanilla bean soft top. I initially expected more of a coffee-forward drink, but it was much sweeter and reminded me more of an elevated strawberry milk. The space itself is cute and gives more of a social, aesthetic hangout vibe than a traditional brunch spot. Parking can also be a bit tricky. There's free parking in the Trader Joe's garage nearby, but it's unclear whether parking there while dining at the café is allowed. Overall, I liked the concept and atmosphere more than the actual food during this visit.

The food always looked really good, but for whatever reason I always ended up ordering from somewhere else. Well, I finally did it. I finally ordered from Cali Alley, and all I have to say is, why did I wait so darn long? Door Dash was having a 2-for-1 deal on the Cali Alley Burger, so I ordered one of those (and got another for free) , as well as on the small mac and cheese, so I ended up with two of those as well. I got fries as he side for the burgers and saved the second burger and mac and cheese for the next day. I also bought a small side of veggie fried rice for lunch later in the week. OK, let's start with the fries ... wow. Super crispy. Don't know what they do to them, but I think I almost ate all the fries that came with one of the burgers before I even touched the burger. The fries seemed to have a coating like some fries do to make them extra crispy on the outside. Whatever it was, it made them so good, I couldn't stop eating them. I was almost too full for the burger. But who are we kidding? If there is one thing I am good at, it is eating more than I should. The burger, which is described on Door Dash as "char grilled, fresh ground brisket and short rib burger, served on a toasted brioche fun with crisp lettuce, tomato onion marmalade and garlic aioli" was thick and incredibly flavorful. I couldn't stop eating that, either. It was that good. I ordered it medium, and it was pretty pink, but it was sooooooo flavorful, and all the toppings worked well together. I didn't get any cheese on it because I wanted to try to burger by itself and not mask it with cheese. I might try adding cheese next time, but honestly the burger is so good, I almost wouldn't want to cover up its flavor with cheese. Oh, I almost forgot. When you order on Door Dash, you can opt to have them include a small side of their chocolate-chipotle bbq sauce, and I highly recommend that you get it. It's a really interesting flavor and is good for dipping the fries in. I didn't try putting it on the burger, but that might be good, too. The mac and cheese was OK. It's important to note that I enjoyed the flavor but it is more of an eggy consistency than a saucy mac and cheese if that makes sense. It has a nice kick of black pepper, which I liked, though. The vegetarian fried rice was also fine but could have used a little salt. All that to say, don't be like me and procrastinate, get the Cali Alley Burger and fries ASAP.
