It was my companion's birthday, and he wanted corned beef hash! I don't know many spots, but Cafe M came up as a recommendation for it. Luckily, we snagged one of the last tables outside, where we sat with the pup. They have a decent amount of outdoor and indoor seating, but wait times can vary depending on what time you arrive. They seemed a bit frazzled and were juggling a lot, but our food came out quite fast My companion got the Homemade Corned Beef Hash, and I got the Delmar Crepe. He is pretty picky with his corned beef, and he gave theirs two thumbs up. This was also the first place he didn't finish his corned beef, so you know the portions are generous! I got the Delmar Crepe, which was an intriguing combination of crab cakes plus other ingredients in a crepe. The crepe was crispy, with a generous amount of tasty crab cake, plus good stuff like avocado and spinach. The potatoes were delicious as well. I could only eat half my plate, but I'd recommend it! I have patronized Cafe M for many years. They have always had great service and food. This experience, unfortunately, wasn't that great, but I will consider this a one off and still look to patronize them in the future. The Chicken Pesto I had was dry and had no seasoning. The potatoes were bland and dry I took the whole meal home and tossed it. I opened up the crepe and there wasn't much pesto sauce inside :( The coffee tasted like hot water and it is usually very good. Not sure what happened there. The service was slow and our server's comment was 'it's the end of the day.' This comment concerned me because even if I come in towards the end of the day, if you choose to be open, please give me the same excellent service as if you just opened. Also, the bathroom was terrible and I did not like seeing it in the condition it was in. Someone should have cleaned it along the way so it didn't get this bad. Stopped here for breakfast on our way home from SF and we hit the jackpot! Loved this little place, very welcoming, great ambiance, super friendly staff, and amazing food. I had the "Blackstone" Eggs Benedict. It came with standard English muffin perfectly toasted, fresh chopped fried bacon, perfectly poached eggs, topped with a delicious and perfectly citrusy hollandaise. On the side were some tremendous fried potatoes (on a Blackstone???). Although the eggs Benedict were fantastic, the potatoes really got me excited. They weren't standard, they are somehow slightly smashed, perfectly seasoned, and fried so that a perfect crust is created. They are simply outstanding! Oh yeah, the coffee is good too. Been coming to Cafe M since 2018, and usually, it's a smooth operation. Space is a solid size with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, and the food always hits. Pulled up on a Sunday early afternoon with a friend. I went with the freshly squeezed OJ and the breakfast combo - French toast, two eggs, and chicken apple sausage. Everything was delicious, but that French toast was easily the star of the show. The food wasn't the issue; the kitchen communication was. We ordered, settled in, and then watched every single table seated after us get their food while we sat there starving. After 45 minutes of playing the waiting game, we asked what was going on and found out our order was never even entered into the system. Heavy lapse in service. Management and our waitress apologized and comped an appetizer, which I appreciated. Mistakes happen, but sitting for almost an hour watching everyone else eat was a test of patience. Absolutely delicious. Checked Yelp for some of their most popular things which ended up to be the Chicken Pesto Crepe and the Coconut French Toast and they definitely did not disappoint. I could totally see why those were some of the most commonly ordered fishes at Cafe M because they were both so good! The Chicken Pesto Crepe was absolutely delicious and what made them even better were their homemade potatoes, perfectly seasoned and also their texture was great. Since my original review, I returned for a team-building event and had a much better experience. (Dine in) The food was great, the service was attentive, and everything went smoothly. While I haven't returned to this location since then, I do appreciate that it is a family-owned business. They also operate Doyle Cafe, which has become my go-to spot. It offers a similar atmosphere and menu, but in my experience it isn't as crowded or long wait times when dining in. I was underwhelmed by my omelette the veggies tasted like they were near bananas in the fridge or something. It was odd. No I didn't say anything to the waitress she already seemed irritated that my friend sent her Irish coffee back. (It beats the pants off of Oceanview if you need an alternate location- even though this is not a competition). Even though it's a little pricey for breakfast, the prices are the Berkeley reality now, especially in this more posh shopping area. Went to visit my UC Berk freshman and we went in for a late breakfast at Cafe M! First off let me say the parking is absolutely terrible and very limited. But, we were seated right away, which was great! They also had a few seats for outdoor dining which I love in good weather.
