We tried this place cause yelp had it listed as good for kids but they don't have a kids menu so that was a little disappointing. This place was pretty busy, indoor and outdoor seating. We did have a bizarre experience here so I will say the food was pretty good & the coffee was decent. Our bacon had hair wrapped around it and it was obviously very off putting. It wasnt just on the bacon, it was wrapped around it. Kinda ruined the experience, thinking hair could possibly be in other dishes. When it was discussed with the waitress about the hair, she verbally agreed to not charge for the bacon but when we got the bill back after paying, not only had the bacon been kept on the check the price went up. Obviously an argument happened about it. Our meal came out to about $90, The price was never the problem when it came to this,the bacon was the cheapest thing we ordered, just how it was handled was unfortunate. read more

My husband had an iced mocha that was very good too. I ordered a combo breakfast with French toast, bacon and eggs. The bacon and French toast were good. My husband had my eggs and was happy with them as they had added green onions. My husband had the chicken chorizo scrambler he was content with it. He did note he would have liked a little more seasoning on the potatoes. I had a bite and it was ok. I think $64.00 is a little expensive for two coffees a two breakfasts. It can be hard for me to enjoy a brunch place, especially when it serves very classic foods, because I always feel like I could make a lot of the dishes myself. I came in with pretty low expectations for Cafe M, but the food really blew me away. I had the Delmar Crepe ($21) which had a great crabcake flavor with a perfectly thin & crispy crepe and was paired with such a smooth hollandaise sauce. I'm also impressed by the breakfast potatoes because they were SO crispy. I might even say they were the best breakfast potatoes / home style fries that I've had?! My friends got the breakfast combos and I thought the French toast made of Hawaiian toast was amazing, while the pancake was nice and fluffy. The best French toast I've ever had!!! We came in around 1pm on a Sunday and they were able to accommodate a party of 10. The servers were so kind and got the table quickly! Our server was very sweet and she was on top of it! For 10 people we had excellent service! My sister and I both love savory and sweet so we shared an omelet and the stuffed French toast. Pretty decent eats for brunch in the heart of 4th street. Super busy but the waitlist went by quick as there was a lot of people on a Sunday afternoon. I got the chicken chorizo scramble with a side of a classic French toast and my girl got the coconut French toast. Portion for the scramble was huge left there stuffed. Lots of chicken egg and cheese with onions with sautéed veggies. Seasoning was solid and potatoes at the bottom were really good. But I did wish it came with salsa on the side. The French toast itself was really good. Fluffy with a nice cinnamon vanilla butter. Quite pricey so be mindful when ordering but I enjoyed it. Alright back with another review ! This was my first time here I'll definitely be coming back . Here's my opinion . Me and my best friend came for his birthday we went for brunch . Reviews I read prior said they are usually super packed on the weekends . His birthday fell on a Tuesday so we weren't expecting it to be busy but sure enough it was ! This must be a local spot for Berkeley people to come too . Outside seating area was full due to a nice day but luckily we got sat right away inside ( so for future reference definitely will call for reservations or wait time ) The set up is cute and cozy lots of open windows . You can see the chefs at work . Our waitress was very nice and informative on what's on the menu . I got the crab cake Benedict. I love seafood and is very particular about what I eat . I was expecting the crab cakes to be imitation but no ! It was fresh crab meat and seasoned well . Not overbearing with what they use to where you can't taste the crab . I even was able to add mushrooms onto mines ( since I couldn't decide if I wanted the mushroom or crab Benedict , I was able to get both ) the house potatoes yummm . Perfectly cooked and seasoned. Not mushy or overcooked / fried . my best friend got huevos rancheros and he enjoyed it ! The portions are big we both were able to take some to go . And with it all being so good and big portions the food came out fast ! We got a pomegranate mimosa which is very yummy . Tart , but good I like tart so if you do too I'd recommend it . They don't have endless mimosas which is what we were looking for for brunch . But none the less it was good and you get a pitcher . I personally have never cared for aïoli until M Café, the crabcakes with aïoli made a believer out of me , absolutely amazing , we also enjoyed the Berkeley scramble, the basic breakfast, the country omelette as well as, pancakes, which were made the way my great -great aunt used to make them no syrup required, delicious. If you're in Berkeley around fourth Between Virginia and Delaware, a great shopping area, treat yourself to breakfast or brunch at Café M you'll thank me. Three stars for the customer service. Our server was really short with us and wouldn't sub the toast for a single pancake on the other breakfast options with potato's. Let me tell you about Cafe M - the 'M' must stand for "Mmmmm-mazing!" I stepped in expecting a regular brunch, but what I got was a culinary journey to Flavortown! The staff greeted me like I was long lost royalty from a forgotten breakfast kingdom. I ordered the egg scramble, which, by the way, is code for "a bite of heaven wrapped in a cloud of yum." It had zucchini (because, ya know, we gotta pretend to be healthy), cheese (to balance out that healthiness), pesto (because why not add a fancy twist?), and eggs (duh, it's a scramble). But let's have a moment of silence for those breakfast potatoes... crisped to perfection, seasoned like they've traveled the seven seas, and fluffy inside as if they're holding on to all of breakfast's secrets. This was my second time coming to Cafe M and it was honestly so disappointing. Initially when we arrived, service was pretty quick. I had asked for an iced latte and was given a hot one. I asked if I could get the iced one and when the server returned she had just poured the hot latte over ice, making it lukewarm and watered down. Our server then disappeared and didn't check on our table for a decent while, and we were just left waiting to pay. She made it pretty clear that she was annoyed that I had asked for a remake because it was incorrectly made. As a server myself, I was really trying to give her the benefit of the doubt- I know this industry is hard and sucks sometimes, but to act the way she did for her mistake was pretty unreasonable. read more

It is quiet in the afternoon. I had Cafe M on a beauty Saturday Morning after working four hours shift. I will not regret that I gave Cafe M a try. My Basic Breakfast was AMAZING! Big slices of bacon and amazing tasting potatoes! I love how the potatoes looked like and how great it tasted. I never had potatoes that looked good and tasted amazing!
