Great food, good service in a relaxed atmosphere. We got to sit outside and enjoy the start to a great Sunday. Pricing is a little steep, over $20 for a breakfast dish, which makes family of 4 , two adults breakfast and 2 kids pancakes, $81 :-( Parking is a little hard to find, but we got lucky front row.

I had a bad need for pancakes . Cafe m is the only correct fix for this itch . Man that shit is the best pancakes around drop the mic it's over . I gave it 5 stars cause you can't give up 10 stars. But man if ever ever need to scratch the itch for pancakes it's simply the best I ever had . I ordered the combo pancakes bacon was cooked perfectly the ask for extra crisp man they did a great job and this place scramble eggs are the best in town also so yellow in color they use the best stuff money can buy . Coffee is always great . Wife had the pancakes after I cleared my plate I had some of hers . I drive from Walnut Creek for the pancakes . Great staff great help this place has it going on try them you won't be sorry .

Café M was a really nice experience overall. I had the Del Mar crepe, which is stuffed with crab cakes, baby spinach, avocado, Havarti cheese, and caramelized onions, then topped with hollandaise and served with breakfast potatoes. It was delicious rich, flavorful, and definitely something I'd order again. I also had a Japanese matcha latte, and that was really good too. I tried a pancake, and it was just okay. Texture was there, but it was missing a bit of flavor for me. I might give it another try, but it wasn't my favorite thing on the table. Huge shout out to our server Sabrina... she was the bomb. Super attentive, friendly, and really made the experience better. Give her a raise. The restaurant itself was pretty clean overall. I did check one of the bathrooms and it could use a little bit of a facelift, but my friend used the other one and said it was fine. It's a chill spot with good food, a nice environment, and friendly staff. I really enjoyed myself and would definitely come back. Flavor Profile (for reference): Umami-forward (savory, salty depth) Acidic or bright (tangy + sour) Pungent & intense (spicy + bitter notes) Drink Preference (for reference): Bitter-forward cocktails Balanced acidity Light sweetness only, not overly sugary

I haven't been to a true 5-star brunch in a while... this was it for me. From the absolutely incredible service (kind, respectful, polite, efficient, even in the busiest of times of the year), to the great decor and spaciousness of the restaurant itself, to the FANTASTIC food and drinks... Wow. What a spectacular experience. I shared one sweet and one savory option with a friend: the Chicken Chorizo Scrambler (absolutely delectable cheesy flavorful eggs, with the yummiest side of potatoes I've had in a long time) and three Blueberry Pancakes (ultra soft, topped with a mouth-watering maple cinnamon butter). I also got a hot matcha latte with soy milk, a creamy sweet treat that warmed me up from the inside on that cold rainy day. Would absolutely order all three again, though I'd also not hesitate to try any of the other menu items. Can't wait to come back!

Garden salad with crab cake.

I enjoyed Cafe M. On a weekend, the wait is bananas, but mid-week for lunch, there was no problem snagging a table. It's 4th street, so there's always a lot of parking, but also not, it's busy. The menu has something for everyone. From sweet and savory, breakfast and lunch. I can see why it's beloved. I went with the crab cake crepe - and I liked, not loved. The crab cake was subtle and fine, with spinach, avocado, and cheese, but it was missing something. I feel like an egg would have made it all come together? I opted for a side salad in lieu of the breakfast potatoes, and it was a lot of food. I do think if you are a crab fan, you'll enjoy it! My uncle went with the eggs and hash and thoroughly enjoyed it. Prices are high ($20+), but food is quality and servings large. Service was great, although the tables and chairs were a bit shotty and not the most comfortable. Overall, a really solid choice for brunch!

1st time here and it was a good experience wait time was about 15-20 minutes not bad then was seated inside the restaurant. We ordered the huevos ranchers and a classic breakfast . Everything came out fresh and delicious. The coffee was also good and my date enjoyed her cappuccino. The dinning room was full, people waiting and alot of Togo orders seems like a good business creating good food Would return to try something else

I've always wanted to try the place and the wait always made me choose a different place. Today got there and was seated within 10 minutes! I knew it was going to be a good day. It's a medium sized place. That gives restaurant and not diner. The food came super fast, it was like 10 minutes. I was underwhelmed by my omelette the veggies tasted like they were near bananas in the fridge or something. It was odd. No I didn't say anything to the waitress she already seemed irritated that my friend sent her Irish coffee back. I like how the crab cakes did not taste like frozen patties, they were fresh crab balls. I would definitely try them again. The hostess and the lady who took our drink orders were way more friendly than our actual waitress. But she could have been overwhelmed. This is a place I would go again if in the area but not a place I would make the trip to Berkeley for.

This is a lovely cafe in the quaint 4th Street neighborhood in Berkeley, CA. When visiting the Bay Area, my daughter and I stopped in here for breakfast. The staff was so friendly! It is obviously a local favorite. Bright and sun-filled, the place exudes a simple charm. Espresso coffee drinks are well made. Breakfast dishes are well prepared. A wonderful place to start your day

Supposed to go a week ago, but didn't make it on time. I'm from the valley, so I was so excited my bf took me here again. I came for the potatoes. The employees are always busy, and ready help you out. They are all so kind.

Great place to eat breakfast. Ran across this place and I scored. I actually walked in and was greeted and seated immediately. Awesome setting nice atmosphere, busy but peaceful vibe. I ordered quite a bit of food. All was excellent. I will definitely come back and I highly recommend this place if are ever in the area.

Classic Eggs Benedict, yum!!

Great brunch spot in Berkeley. We came for a late brunch around 2 pm, which I love! They got us seated right away outside. Our server was very kind and helpful. We ordered an eggs Benedict and a basic breakfast. The eggs Benedict was so good! Delicious. They didn't have hashbrowns, but they had something similar, which is like scalloped potatoes, but in a breakfast form. I really enjoyed them!

Came back for another visit, this time with a larger party and had another great experience. Poached eggs were made just right on English muffin with tomato and avocado with the hollandaise on the side. Home potatoes on the side. Tasty ands filling! The "basic" breakfast was two over medium eggs, sausage, those same home potatoes, and toast. Yummy and it feels healthy for some reason. I think you could get other meats instead, and of course have eggs the way you want'em. Pancakes were light and fluffy. Spectacled with powder sugar. I don't think it was real maple syrup though. Too bad. Sancheti omelette with chorizo was super tasty. With potatoes and toast it's quite a meal. And if you like more a lunch meal, then try the Reuben with corned beef, sauerkraut, and thousand island dressing. The service is always attentive ands congenial. Makes fire a very pleasant meal. And the atmosphere is nice. Both inside and outdoor seating. Bright and airy.

Delicious breakfast. Pomegranate mimosa was bomb. Very filling! Service was fast. We got seated right away.

A true hidden gem right at the bottom of Solano Ave in Albany!…read more I'm embarrassed to admit that Picnic has been around for about 5 years in the east bay and I've just tried it for the first time this week. But I'm so glad I was finally introduced to it. The staff greet you promptly when you enter and you can even watch them work effortlessly together in the open prep-station behind the counter. They have a gorgeous display of deli items, wines, cheeses, cold sides, and even some cute candles & house made croutons. They've got everything you would need for an elevated picnic or even a barbecue with the family. They have an intriguing selection of house made sausages-- the Chicken Tikka Masala sausage caught my eye and I can't wait to try it. They also sell whole smoked quail that are seasoned heavily yet each bite has just the right amount of smokiness, spices, and salt. Their hot food items and sandwiches are perfect for a quick lunch during your break from work or on your way home. There are also a few counter seats if you want to enjoy your meal there. So far I've tried the smoked quail, the Muffaletta sandwich, and their green lentil soup with chicken + veg. The sandwich was filled to the brim and each bite was a flavor bomb. The lentil soup was very comforting & paired well with the smoked quail. I'm looking forward to trying everything they have to offer.

The service was amazing and fast and honestly the store was so cute that I kept picking things up to add to my order. I couldn't have been more pleased with this place and will absolutely come back.

Cold, military-style, and deeply disappointing farewell from Standard Fare…read more.. My wife and I have been going to Standard Fare for over a year. The food was always good, but the service was never particularly warm--polite, efficient, and impersonal, like a well-drilled operation. Today we took a twenty-minute ride with our six-week-old baby for one last visit before they close for good. We arrived before their advertised closing time, yet were coldly denied service. There was no one waiting behind us, but we were met with an inflexible, robotic "sorry, we're closed." No one was overtly rude, but the interaction felt rigid and mechanical, as if following procedure mattered more than acknowledging the people standing in front of them. It would not have taken much effort to accept one last order from a loyal couple with a newborn--especially since nobody else was waiting behind us. In the end, Standard Fare is closing exactly as it operated: precise, rigid, and lacking warmth. Hopefully the next business in this location will treat its customers with a bit more empathy.

They did their best to accommodate all patrons despite it being very crowded and crazy busy. The Good: * Friendly service at the counter and at the table, but there were some issues (see below). * Halal (حلال) *Veg-head friendly and gluten-free options are available * Their toum (garlic sauce) will surely keep the vampires at bay. * My Lamb Bowl was delicious and all the veggies tasted super fresh. *We came here to try their viral Knafeh Pancake and it did not disappoint. We were a little hesitant at the $20 price tag, but it was 100% worth it. Subtly sweet with rose water syrup and crunchy from the ghee toasted kataifi combined with the cheese and pancake bottom made this an irresistible treat. The Meh: * It's a busy place, and the interior only holds maybe twenty people at a time, so be prepared to wait to dine in. * Carissa felt like her chicken could've been on the grill for maybe an extra minute or so--not that it was undercooked, but it just needed a touch more texture. * Free street parking only, which can be difficult, but not impossible to find during busier days/times. The Ugly: * I realize they just reopened and might still be working out the kinks, but the staff bringing out the food seemed confused about which orders went where, despite a huge table number we were assigned, and my bowl was brought out a good ten minutes before Carissa's was--and that includes a snafu where they tried to bring out the same bowl (mine) twice! Conclusion: Overall, it was a tasty bite and well worth the schlep up from the South Bay to Albany. We're definitely bringing my sister the next time she visits. **Order at the counter, and food is brought out to your table.

It's also one of those places that makes you want to stay. The food is consistently fresh, flavorful, and generous. Every time I come here, I tell myself I'll pace myself... and every time I fail because it's just that good. The burgers are loaded and perfectly balanced, the fries are always crisp (never soggy, which is rare), and everything tastes high-quality and made to order. You have to try the chicken and waffles. The waffle batter tastes homemade and the butter takes it to another level... it's one of those dishes you keep thinking about after. I'll even DoorDash it all the way to Jingletown. The patio setup is really well done... there's a mix of larger tables for groups and higher bar-style seating for smaller hangs. The wooden furniture and cushioned benches make it comfortable, and they've got heaters for colder days and umbrellas when it's sunny, so you can usually pick your ideal spot. You order at the window and then just hang out while you wait... it's a relaxed flow and the food comes out pretty quickly. The staff are always kind and welcoming, and the whole place has a relaxed, homey vibe with really good music. Highly recommend... just come hungry.

Cali Alley is one of those places I have looked at thousands of times when trying to figure out…read morewhat to order on Door Dash or Uber Eats. The food always looked really good, but for whatever reason I always ended up ordering from somewhere else. Well, I finally did it. I finally ordered from Cali Alley, and all I have to say is, why did I wait so darn long? Door Dash was having a 2-for-1 deal on the Cali Alley Burger, so I ordered one of those (and got another for free) , as well as on the small mac and cheese, so I ended up with two of those as well. I got fries as he side for the burgers and saved the second burger and mac and cheese for the next day. I also bought a small side of veggie fried rice for lunch later in the week. OK, let's start with the fries ... wow. Super crispy. Don't know what they do to them, but I think I almost ate all the fries that came with one of the burgers before I even touched the burger. The fries seemed to have a coating like some fries do to make them extra crispy on the outside. Whatever it was, it made them so good, I couldn't stop eating them. I was almost too full for the burger. But who are we kidding? If there is one thing I am good at, it is eating more than I should. The burger, which is described on Door Dash as "char grilled, fresh ground brisket and short rib burger, served on a toasted brioche fun with crisp lettuce, tomato onion marmalade and garlic aioli" was thick and incredibly flavorful. I couldn't stop eating that, either. It was that good. I ordered it medium, and it was pretty pink, but it was sooooooo flavorful, and all the toppings worked well together. I didn't get any cheese on it because I wanted to try to burger by itself and not mask it with cheese. I might try adding cheese next time, but honestly the burger is so good, I almost wouldn't want to cover up its flavor with cheese. Oh, I almost forgot. When you order on Door Dash, you can opt to have them include a small side of their chocolate-chipotle bbq sauce, and I highly recommend that you get it. It's a really interesting flavor and is good for dipping the fries in. I didn't try putting it on the burger, but that might be good, too. The mac and cheese was OK. It's important to note that I enjoyed the flavor but it is more of an eggy consistency than a saucy mac and cheese if that makes sense. It has a nice kick of black pepper, which I liked, though. The vegetarian fried rice was also fine but could have used a little salt. All that to say, don't be like me and procrastinate, get the Cali Alley Burger and fries ASAP.
