I've only been here a couple times but decided to finally write a review bc of how nice the staff recently was. On my other visits the staff was nice and the food was good. Today, however, I was putting something in my bag outside the restaurant when a worker approached me. I expected him to tell me to leave, but to my surprise, he gave my dog compliments and offered some potatoes for her. She very much appreciated them and we appreciate the worker for his kindness. I'm extremely disappointed with my experience at the Crepevine on Shattuck Ave. I've been coming to Crepevine locations for years and have always really loved this place, which makes this situation even more upsetting. I dined in and accidentally left one of my belongings at the table. I realized it shortly after leaving and returned about 20 minutes later. The employee I spoke with told me, "Whoever cleaned your table must have thrown it away," even though he was actually the employee who personally cleaned my table. When I questioned him about my missing belonging, he then claimed he didn't know what happened to it. The entire interaction made me extremely uncomfortable, especially considering only about 20 minutes had passed and he was the person who cleared the table. I understand that accidentally leaving something behind is my responsibility, but the contradictory explanation and the way the situation was handled are what really bothered me. I've supported Crepevine for years and have eaten at multiple locations, so it's incredibly disappointing to say this, but after this experience I will not be coming back. read more

You order at the counter, grab a number, and your food is brought to the table. Each dish does take a while to prepare, so I wouldn't recommend stopping by if you're in a rush. My crepe was slightly above average, though I think it would have been better if the ingredients were chopped more finely so each bite felt more balanced and consistent. The potatoes on the side were very tasty, and my husband really enjoyed his Denver omelet. Super cute area and dining space and the menu is so fun to look at! They have plenty of options to choose from: sweet or savory crepes, dessert crepes, omelettes, pastas, and more. It was hard making a decision, but I decided to go with the el paso crepe, santa fe crepe, and a waffle. The el paso crepe was good, paired with corned beef, eggs, and potatoes. It was probably the best item I tried here. Savory and not too much overpowering flavors. The santa fe crepe was also good, but the egg overpowered the chicken sausage that it came with. There was a lot going on and didn't feel well executed. The waffle wasn't anything like I expected it to be. It was extremely crumbly, making it hard to enjoy and even pick up with a fork. It somewhat had the texture of a very old and dry cake. I wouldn't recommend it and should've probably tried a sweet dessert crepe instead. The service is okay, they can seat a lot of people inside and outside, so they're busy and sometimes forget about what you need/asked them. Overall, I had a decent time. I come to the Berkeley Crepevine a couple times a year and they always make sure that you're full by the end of the meal. Whether it's their burgers, sandwiches, or pasta, your portion sizes will always be really good and more than enough, sometimes even with leftovers. I ordered the Alfredo pasta and unfortunately, you have to pay to add meat such as chicken or shrimp for all of their pasta dishes, which made it come out to an upwards of $25. Overall, I'm definitely enjoy myself everytime I come here and I would give it a solid 3.4 stars, consistent but nothing too special. read more

The service was quick and easy; you order your food first and then choose a seat. They specialize, of course, in a variety of crepes. This is my first time having crepes that are non-dessert. I ordered the Florentine, which is a vegetarian option consisting of spinach, mushroom, onions and cheese. It was a bit underwhelming and lacked flavor. It's a lot better if this was an omelette. They have plenty of other savory crepes, so I recommend trying the others. For the sweet crepes, I ordered the sunset crepe and it was pretty decent - nothing too special. It has the flavors of what you'd expect from a crepe-nutella-fruit combination. I love the addition of the ice cream. read more

the vibes of this place are super super cutesy! you first stand in line, place your order, and then bring a table number to whatever table you pick! usually places like this have everything self serve, but i like how the staff constantly comes around and checks on you! i ended up ordering the new orleans benedict and sharing one of the fall specials, the banana biscoff crepe. the benedict was sooo yummy and the crab cake honestly tasted fresh! i do wish the sauce was a little spicier, but other than that it was great! the crepe was the perfectttt dessert to end it! parts of it were a little crunchy, but the sauce helped make it a little softer. the only negative i have from my experience today was the coffee. both my friend and i ordered one of their special coffees and a iced honey latte. we literally only took one sip and could not finish the rest of it. i don't know what we drank, but it definitely was not good coffee, BUT thankfully we had a pitcher of the guava cooler which was super fruity and refreshing! read more

I love this location. Ordered the Tuscany savory crepe since I can't eat chicken eggs. My spouse surprised me by also getting a savory option, the Philly (we're from Philly lol). My kiddo who is VERY PICKY is enjoying the mini pancakes which they shaped into a mouse and skipped the powdered sugar (he won't eat pancakes with toppings and they also put the butter in a side dish). I wanted to sit outside and the first table was right in the sun, not acceptable for my pale partner. They were very amenable and offered us shaded options right away. The service was amazing today. They even gave us mini complimentary blueberry muffins which were SO GOOD? Couldn't get a photo of our food since my spouse scarfed his down and I had to juggle 6 year old demands while trying to eat my still warm food. The greeter/waiter had to be asked three times for water. He mistook cheddar cheese for cottage cheese on the sandwich order. One of us was served within 15 minutes, but the other of us waited almost a half an hour to be served a sandwich. My salad plate was overloaded with lettuce greens, so that as I took a forkful, the rest spilled onto the table. This seems a waste of food. Space was not crowded, so that was not an excuse. There was plenty of wait staff and cooks, in relation to the crowd. As I placed my order, I gave the staff 25% tip, and now I'm sorry that I did not wait to tip after the meal I will not return to this location of crêpe vine. The staff at Rockridge Grapevine are quite the opposite... Attentive, accurate, alert. read more

As the parent of a child with a severe egg and nut allergy, this experience was unacceptable. I specifically asked whether a menu item contained egg because my son's safety depended on the answer. I was told it did not--without anyone checking with the chef. After I had already placed my order and paid, I myself anskes the chef and stood corrected the dish did contain egg! in fact I was told they had nothing on the kids menu that did not contain egg without truly checking! Food allergies are not preferences. A careless answer could have resulted in a severe allergic reaction, emergency epinephrine use, or a trip to the ER. What upset me most was not just the misinformation, but the lack of urgency and due diligence when asked a serious allergy question. Families should be able to trust the answers they receive when their child's life may depend on it. I hope Crepevine improves its allergy training before another family faces a potentially dangerous situation. read more

I've frequented Crepevine for a few years now and I swear, each year, it gets better and better. It is located in a pretty cute area. There is street parking available in front and a parking lot of a plaza near by. You first order in line and then they help you find a table or seat somewhere. You take a number and they bring the food and drinks out to you. My favorite thing to get here is the New Orleans Benedict - topped with spicy cajun hollandaise and crab cakes in lieu of ham. IT IS SO DELICIOUS. A big plus is that there is a kids menu available. My son, of course, got the chicken tenders and fries and of course I HAD to try it to make sure it was okay for him to eat (;D) and it was SO crispy and good. I might just get that for myself to go next time. Besides the crepes, we also like to get the Chicken Shawarma plate which comes with a side caesar salad. So flavorful and delicious. This is a good place to bring family members on a nice Sunday or out of towners. read more

More than half the tables needed to be cleared and cleaned from past guests. The floor needed to be swept and the windowsills looked like they had never been wiped. I ordered a crepe with ice cream and when it arrived there was no ice cream. I told the waiter I was missing the ice cream and he rudely stated that it didn't come with it. I told him I had ordered it and he really didn't want to believe me. He finally went and checked the cheque and he said oh yeah you did. I also had ordered a club sandwich which was phenomenal. I would definitely never go back to the store and eat, but I enjoyed the club sandwich and would get it delivered. read more

The New Orleans Benedict my friend and I got had a very strange sour taste, we couldn't finish it unfortunately and we didn't want to be rude and send it back. Coffee was underwhelming, complimentary muffins are a nice touch, the cornbread,...skip that. I tried one piece and didn't attempt to touch it again. The first time I visited Crepevine, the New Orleans Benedict impressed me so much, I kept thinking about it for weeks. From the dressing to the runny egg underneath - it was one of the most memorable breakfast dishes I've ever tried. So I went again, this time with my friends, but ordered it with garlic fries. Though I liked both sides, I thought that the potatoes suited the overall dish best - the garlicky, saltiness of the fries clashes with the dressing. Additionally, Crepevine was hosting a limited spring menu during this time, which included various dishes, coffee times, and beverage coolers. As a matcha lover, I had to try the strawberry matcha latte... and wasn't disappointed! Granted, it wasn't particularly mind-blowing and included too much whipped cream for my liking, but I still really enjoyed it. The strawberry syrup did taste artificial to me though - overall, still worth the try. Love Crepevine, will always remain a classic breakfast spot for me! read more

Decided to have dinner there with my granddaughter she wanted a burger and fries. The burger was overcooked and I ordered the pioneer fresh oven baked turkey breast... I was so disappointed because I got something entirely different thing than what I ordered! I was so frustrated because the menu was so misleading, and the food did not live up to the expectation. I did go back up to the cashier where I paid before we sat down to eat and let her know that the menu was misleading, that I didn't get the pioneer oven baked turkey breast, that it was lunch meat that was thrown on the grill and to bring that upto her manager. The waitress we had last night was incredibly rude to my date just because he took a bit longer to think on what he wanted as a red wine, like oh no, the world's ending because a guy is taking 20 seconds to decide if he wants a merlot or a cabernet. She was so snarky it was incredible, eye rolling and rushing us, tapping her hands hard on the table at any little question, like can she have any patience?... We arrived at like 7pm, mind you, and she only had one other table and the place was extremely empty (and we found out why quickly) Hot cocoa tasted like steamed milk with no chocolate at all, but the spiced cinnamon caramel whip cream was heavenly so I let it slide. My Mazatlan omelet was 90% avocado and 10% burnt meat with black beans. Actually crunchy to eat. I, being a "gremlin" as they say about food, just ate and pushed through it, since screw it, it's a recession and I needed the vitamins from what felt like two whole avocados under egg anyway. A shame about the meat, though. Will post photos as proof soon. My date enjoyed his pasta for a bit, our table went without until.... My date was repeatedly snarked at by the waitress, but ESPECIALLY when I found a HUGE 6 (actually closer to 8) inch long hair in my date's food. I was disgusted, and the waitress, who was pretty much staring into space and not at all checking in on anyone, I had to eventually get her and show her. The way she didn't even care, past a long pause and a stare, and it was like it took four to five seconds for her to bother mustering a slight tight smile, a little fake "Let me get a new one for you", and a huff as she walked away. No apology or anything, it was ridiculous. She eventually brought back a new pasta. With a spoon. My date tried to flag her down, since how does one eat long noodle pasta with a big soup spoon almost as big as his face? She was unfindable, thankfully I found a place to manually get utensils not too far walking distance from our table. It was odd though, the table to the left of us she was all "Oh sorry that your sub sandwich was missing a topping, we feel so bad that here's a banana chocolate crepe on the house." And then meanwhile our table (black girl and white autistic dude) could barely even get any real good treatment. We skipped dessert and left. A nice enough friendly man working there checked in on us and wished us a good night though, the only reason the reviews aren't lower. And if anyone's wondering, I shouldn't have toughed through that Mazatlan, my stomach has been hootin and hollerin all day. read more

I've tried the location in Burlingame, CA and is wayyyy better than this location. We spent over $100 and we didn't even eat the good. The chicken was dry and flavorless. The place Was unclean and we had bees flying in constantly. I would of request a refund but no manager present. read more

There is indoor and outdoor seating available and our party decided on the parklet out in front of the restaurant. It was a lovely day to dine outside. Choose your items, remember to order at the counter inside, pay, get a number, and your items will find their way to you. Service was friendly and attentive - we got checked on a couple times for additional water and coffee and empty plates were cleared promptly. I ordered a Milano (yum crepe and salad, potatoes - just okay) and a hot chocolate. I forgot what everyone else ordered but they all joined the clean plate club. We had experience having brunch with my wife for her birthday at this restaurant. The restaurant was a couple blocks away from my house. We were waiting for the table at the entrance. The waitress saw us, then she gave us a menu and said " Seat whatever you like". After we decide what to have, we then go to the front to place an order, not even at the table. After we ordered, we had to pay right away, including tipping them without receiving any services yet. I was confused about what we tip for, their food which I hadn't had yet, or their services. I tipped them, then they gave us mini muffins which looked old. We went back to the table, and we tried muffins which I couldn't finish because it was cold. I think it would be a warm muffin. Following that, they served our coffee. Our food was served at the table after 5 minutes of ordering. It was quick. I didn't know how they cooked or maybe food had already been prepared. The potato was cold. The salad wasn't fresh. Also, the crêpe was just OK for me. The waitress didn't even come to our table to ask how our food was. I tried to support our neighbor's business, but it made me disappointed. read more

Their crepes were good, their omelets were pretty good but their potatoes seemed like they were boiled and not pan fried, they weren't well seasoned either. The eggs Benedict was drowned in sauce and it wasn't that seasoned either. Their potatoes were the same quality sadly. The service was okay, the waiters were a bit rude and didn't come check up on us after bringing the food. the ambiance is overall nice and clean with outside and inside seating. It seems like a lot of elderly individuals like this place but I think they might like it because the food is soft and bland.
