santa fe
Bianca H.

Super cute area and dining space and the menu is so fun to look at! They have plenty of options to choose from: sweet or savory crepes, dessert crepes, omelettes, pastas, and more. It was hard making a decision, but I decided to go with the el paso crepe, santa fe crepe, and a waffle. The el paso crepe was good, paired with corned beef, eggs, and potatoes. It was probably the best item I tried here. Savory and not too much overpowering flavors. The santa fe crepe was also good, but the egg overpowered the chicken sausage that it came with. There was a lot going on and didn't feel well executed. The waffle wasn't anything like I expected it to be. It was extremely crumbly, making it hard to enjoy and even pick up with a fork. It somewhat had the texture of a very old and dry cake. I wouldn't recommend it and should've probably tried a sweet dessert crepe instead. The service is okay, they can seat a lot of people inside and outside, so they're busy and sometimes forget about what you need/asked them. Overall, I had a decent time. Maybe I'll stop by for dinner!

Always love to grab a crepe here. These used to be all over the Bay Area but have disappeared. Always a comfort food staple for me. Price is nice and service is fast.

I come to the Berkeley Crepevine a couple times a year and they always make sure that you're full by the end of the meal. Whether it's their burgers, sandwiches, or pasta, your portion sizes will always be really good and more than enough, sometimes even with leftovers. I ordered the Alfredo pasta and unfortunately, you have to pay to add meat such as chicken or shrimp for all of their pasta dishes, which made it come out to an upwards of $25. Overall, I'm definitely enjoy myself everytime I come here and I would give it a solid 3.4 stars, consistent but nothing too special.

Shakshuka

The restaurant is in a great location, clean and has all the vibes. Love they also have outdoor seating. The menu offers many choices and they have specials. The service is meh. Not friendly or helpful. Kinda felt rushed a bit as you order at the cash register and not the table. Yet there was not a line so... why? The food was ok. We have been twice now and felt the same each time. We ordered two specials. The squash soup, served medium warm, and the shakshuka. My husband said the shakshuka was way too sour and the tomatoes were not fresh. I also ordered a chai latte, extra hot, which also came out medium warm. Perhaps we just order the wrong things Squash soup $6.95 ( great portion, but came spilled) Shakshuka $17.95

Sunset Sweet Crepe

I love the atmosphere of this restaurant, especially on a bright sunny morning. It definitely brings good energy and great vibes for brunch. The service was quick and easy; you order your food first and then choose a seat. They specialize, of course, in a variety of crepes. This is my first time having crepes that are non-dessert. I ordered the Florentine, which is a vegetarian option consisting of spinach, mushroom, onions and cheese. It was a bit underwhelming and lacked flavor. It's a lot better if this was an omelette. They have plenty of other savory crepes, so I recommend trying the others. For the sweet crepes, I ordered the sunset crepe and it was pretty decent - nothing too special. It has the flavors of what you'd expect from a crepe-nutella-fruit combination. I love the addition of the ice cream.

They did a good job on the over medium eggs, and I appreciate the big slab of ham!

I often come back to Crepevine because they're friendly and competent, and the food is fairly priced.

I've only been here a couple times but decided to finally write a review bc of how nice the staff recently was. On my other visits the staff was nice and the food was good. Today, however, I was putting something in my bag outside the restaurant when a worker approached me. I expected him to tell me to leave, but to my surprise, he gave my dog compliments and offered some potatoes for her. She very much appreciated them and we appreciate the worker for his kindness. Thank you, William!

Maryuleth M.

The potatoes were delicious; I loved them. I expected much more from the fish tacos. The salad was fresh.

Camie Y.

I'm honestly a little saddened by the rating! I had such a pleasant experience. The waiters were attentive and sweet, the portion sizes for the crepes were huge, and the purple stack was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. The outside seating is so cute as well! Definitely would recommend.

banana biscoff crepe

the vibes of this place are super super cutesy! you first stand in line, place your order, and then bring a table number to whatever table you pick! usually places like this have everything self serve, but i like how the staff constantly comes around and checks on you! i ended up ordering the new orleans benedict and sharing one of the fall specials, the banana biscoff crepe. the benedict was sooo yummy and the crab cake honestly tasted fresh! i do wish the sauce was a little spicier, but other than that it was great! the crepe was the perfectttt dessert to end it! parts of it were a little crunchy, but the sauce helped make it a little softer. the only negative i have from my experience today was the coffee. both my friend and i ordered one of their special coffees and a iced honey latte. we literally only took one sip and could not finish the rest of it. i don't know what we drank, but it definitely was not good coffee, BUT thankfully we had a pitcher of the guava cooler which was super fruity and refreshing!

Kids Mini Pancakes (they were eaten much more by the time we left)
Angie H.

I love this location. Ordered the Tuscany savory crepe since I can't eat chicken eggs. My spouse surprised me by also getting a savory option, the Philly (we're from Philly lol). My kiddo who is VERY PICKY is enjoying the mini pancakes which they shaped into a mouse and skipped the powdered sugar (he won't eat pancakes with toppings and they also put the butter in a side dish). I wanted to sit outside and the first table was right in the sun, not acceptable for my pale partner. They were very amenable and offered us shaded options right away. The service was amazing today. They even gave us mini complimentary blueberry muffins which were SO GOOD? Couldn't get a photo of our food since my spouse scarfed his down and I had to juggle 6 year old demands while trying to eat my still warm food. Happy to say it was a super pleasant experience (and I did get to relax and eat in peace once they started reading together).

First time here an d I had the ALBA crepe. I loved it. The customer service was on point. Easy to find restaurant due to the location. Very good vibe inside the restaurant. Be back for more.

A Last-Minute Yelp Find That Delivered! Heading home from…read moreSan Francisco, we decided to stop for pasta. A last minute Yelp search led us to Creekwood in Berkeley, and luckily, I was able to secure a reservation inside. What a great find! Creekwood is in a residential neighborhood, which I love, although parking can definitely be a challenge. The exterior is architecturally pleasing, with clean lines and a fresh, modern look. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by the hostess with a huge welcome and an equally huge smile. The restaurant has a cozy bar area, outside seating, and an estimated seating capacity of 50 guests. Inside, there is a combination of banquettes and tables that can be configured to accommodate different party sizes. The interior was extremely clean, visually appealing, comfortable and inviting. The bathroom was also extremely clean. Our server Malia was personable and offered great suggestions, as did several other staff members. Everyone we encountered was genuinely friendly and welcoming. We started with the corn chowder and burrata. The chowder arrived a little under-temperature for my liking, but the flavor was excellent. The burrata was plentiful, paired with tomatoes that were absolutely bursting with flavor. The burrata and tomatoes complemented each other beautifully, and there was just the right amount of dressing. My tablemate ordered the Margherita pizza, which arrived at the perfect temperature. Thin crust, fresh basil and great flavor it was exactly what a Margherita pizza should be. I was craving a meat based pasta with red sauce, but that wasn't on the menu. So I ordered the pappardelle with mushrooms and asked if they could prepare it with a red sauce. They were happy to accommodate me. It arrived at the perfect temperature, with beautifully cooked pasta and an orchestra of flavors. The depth and texture of the mushrooms gave me the satisfying, meaty texture I was craving. I would absolutely order this dish again! One of the highlights of our visit was meeting Greg, the owner, who was circulating throughout the restaurant and talking with his guests. We were first-timers, but clearly, many of his diners were what I like to call "repeat offenders." in the best way. Greg shared some of the history of Creekwood and explained that his goal was to create a true neighborhood restaurant and gathering place. I would say he has definitely accomplished that. He also mentioned that he is considering adding a happy hour, which would be a wonderful addition. They do have Coctails, beer and wine although I did not partake this time. Greg told us about one couple who has visited for brunch more than 149 times! Now THAT is a referral! If I lived in the neighborhood, I have no doubt I would become a repeat offender myself. Sometimes the best restaurant discoveries are the ones you make at the last minute. Creekwood was definitely a successful Yelp selection, and one I'm happy to recommend. Bravo Greg, Chef and Creekwood Family well done and we shall see you soon. GIve Creekwood a try you won't be disappointed.

It is a small restaurant with tables and several booths by the window. They also have outdoor patio service. We ordered a half dozen Point Reyes oysters on the half shell. They were very fresh. The crispy Brussels sprouts were nicely cooked. My friend ordered the black cod and I ordered the crab with pasta in white sauce. We also ordered a glass of Chardonnay and a glass of Sancerre. The black cod was delicious. I found my pasta dish a bit bland. We shared a piece of carrot cake. It was very good, moist, just sweet enough with a perfect frosting. The service was attentive. It is a very noisy restaurant. The staff was moving furniture around at the beginning. I asked to have the music lowered in volume. The room may benefit from more acoustic tiling since the noise bounced around the floor and walls.

I've been here for date nights, holiday dinners, business dinners, and countless meals with friends visiting from out of town. It's one of those rare restaurants that seems to work for just about any occasion. The service is always great, the College Avenue location is hard to beat, and I've always had good luck finding street parking nearby. The ribeye is my personal favorite and what I order more often than not. If you're coming with a group, the cheese and charcuterie plates are a great way to start. The menu is varied enough that there's always something for everyone, and I've never had a bad meal here. I was genuinely sad to hear that they'll be closing at the end of the year. Restaurants with this kind of quality, consistency, and character are increasingly rare. If you've never been, make a point of going while you still can. I'll certainly miss it once they're gone.

The sandwiches come with a side, so one plate we did fries with a house-made aioli and the other plate, their quinoa kale salad. Delicious. Such hearty portions! The bread is so fresh, the meat juicy and ample, and flavors just right. We also ordered beer on tap, shoutout to Oakland United, and tried their house-made hot sauce that they also sell by the bottle. Would love to come back to try brunch here too. The customer service was definitely beyond satisfactory. Chez Panisse was an excellent dining experience from start to finish, and I can see why this restaurant has such a lasting legacy in Berkeley. We started with the Little Gem lettuce with Sweet Heart tomato vinaigrette, farro, and cucumbers. It was fresh, light, and pleasantly sweet, with a lovely balance of flavors. The eggplant pizza was another highlight - a unique take on the traditional Margherita and vegetable pizzas (forgive my ignorance; that was my interpretation!) that was surprisingly satisfying. The proteins, pork, chicken, and salmon, were all incredibly tender and savory, practically melting in your mouth. However, the real unsung heroes were the chips! Perfectly seasoned with an irresistibly crispy texture, they were simple but executed exceptionally well. And then came the chocolate. Quite literally, one of the best desserts I've had in a long time. The sweetness and bitterness were perfectly balanced, creating a rich, satisfying finish without being overwhelming. I was so impressed that I specifically asked our server to pass along my compliments to the pastry chef. That dessert alone made the meal memorable. We left with happy hearts and sufficiently full stomachs, feeling that we'd experienced something special. Chez Panisse isn't just about good food; it's about the thoughtfulness and craftsmanship behind each dish. Their option design kitchen which you will walk past on your way to the restroom is worth a visit. We opted to the pre fixe menu which was $175 for a Thursday four course meal. The palate starter really got our palate going with a small bite consist of a toasted crouton with creme fresh and fresh fruit. Their fresh bread and butter is simply addicting; it's hot and crunchy on the outside but software and a light chew for the inside. The first appetizer course was a seared tuna with fresh vegetables. Although the seared tuna was good, the star really was the fresh vegetables and the sweet tomatoes. The mushroom risotto was very flavorful and well balanced as-is without the added parmesan cheese. The mushroom added an additional texture and flavor. Of all the dishes, the main course, the Pork was my favorite. It was cooked and sliced perfectly where the texture was closer to ham but more flavorful.. This dish was paired with fresh vegetables and peppers balancing the savory sauce. Dessert was also exceptional; they paired a passion fruit ice cream with pavlova (taste like hardened meringue) that soaked up the raspberry/blueberry sauce. Staff here are friendly and will take time to interact and educate you about the history of restaurant, it's farm to table concept or suggest various wine pairing options. Overall, $175 for a meal is not very good considering the high cost of food and labor. Because of it's ever changing menu I commend the chef for somehow able to pair the pre fixe menu so perfectly.
