Little hidden gem on the side of chatting. Blink and you'll miss it! The sandwiches are so incredibly tasty. We ordered the steak and the fried chicken. They have so much more on their menu that I want to explore. The food has great flavors, and the bread was nice and fluffy. After we finished we contemplated getting another one just to try it out. The service was fast, but they do tend to get busy as well. The sitting is limited, but you can always order to go. Or try and wait it out until someone leaves. The ambiance is quiet despite it being on a street. I would absolutely come back here and try other items on the menu!

Grégoire, despite being takeout, is one of those rare gems that punches above its weight and still serves excellent food. Service is straightforward and efficient, definitely a quick pickup with some simple outdoor seating available. We stopped in to give the famous potato puffs a try but also figured to grab a couple sandwiches for lunch. The potato puffs lived up to the hype, golden and airy, with that perfect ratio of crunchiness to fluff- make sure you stop by and grab some potato puffs! Sandwiches weren't the cheapest option but you could immediately tell the quality of the ingredients and the detail put into the craft. To sum up in short- comfort food with style and creativity.

I met my husband in 2023, and I've been hearing about Gregoire potato puffs regularly since 2023. I finally got to experience them first hand! Went for a quick lunch date in Berkeley. Parking is a little tough, there's 30min parking right in front of the restaurant and 2 tables outside so it's easy to watch your car. It's very small inside, so either plan to take it to go or hope one of the two tables opens up. We got 2 potato puff flavors (garlic parm and truffle). I preferred the garlic parm, they don't skip on the parm! The potato balls are pretty rich so I could eat about 2.5. Comes with a creamy sauce. I was pleasantly surprised with their lamb burger. It was light and fresh and it gamey at all. I like the mint sauce they paired with it. Def would come back if I was in the area for a potato puff fix!

Gregoire food truck, is "home of the potato puff", and often found in the Presidio.

As I stood staring up at Gregoire's menu I couldn't help but wonder: why did this music festival in the Presidio feature 2 food trucks (total), both specializing in Fried Chicken? The above has nothing to do with Gregoire specifically, except to say that it left me wondering from which truck I should purchase fried chicken. I opted for Gregoire in the end, probably because the idea of fried chicken atop a salad sounded somewhat delightful. Delightful it was not but I'll give props where due: the fried chicken was good. But that salad... blech. The good fried chicken pieces sat atop what the menu called "spicy cole slaw" and beside asparagus-topped greens with dressing in a separate container. The slaw was over-dressed, slopping into the greens and adding the dressing to those created a combination of flavors that was not good. Two of us were sharing this $18 offering and neither of us ventured much below the chicken. Another less than good food truck experience in the books for me but had I tried only their fried chicken (and maybe the potato puffs) I expect this might've been a 4-star review.

We had a great time trying Gregoire! After a long morning, we decided to walk here for a comfy lunch, and Gregoire did not disappoint. There is only a small area outside to eat, so we took a table as soon as it opened up. It was a little windy, but we managed to hold down the fort when the food came. The tomato soup was so warm and tasty! Definitely one of the most solid soups I have ever had. And the Potato Puffs were delicious! They are so crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Unlike anything I have ever had! The fried chicken sandwich was also good, and the lamb salad was fine as well. They are both pretty filling, but a little pricey for what it is worth. Overall, I had a great time and would come back to introduce more friends to the potato puffs.

Why has it taken so long for a French-inspired food truck? They don't need to do crazy burrito fusions when a simple menu of classics done well do the trick. It's been awhile since I really appreciated a soup and sandwich like this. Fried Buttermilk Chicken Sandwich: Even though it was kinda like chicken tenders in a roll, I enjoyed this. It was reminiscent of a po' boy. And chicken tenders weren't some cheap Sysco frozen nonsense, but made by the truck people. Grilled Bavette Sandwich: An even better sandwich! Love the tender steak against the creamy cheese spread. And some nice greens. Felt so French and refined. Really setting the bar for what a food truck can do. Crispy Potato Puffs: Kinda like deep fried mashed potato balls. I'm a fan, definitely more creative than regular fries. Cream of Mushroom Soup: This whole cup of soup was an umami bomb. So delicious and simple with the mushrooms and cream. I realized it had been so long since I had mushroom soup, so kinda got me questioning why. Chocolate Bread Pudding: The bread pudding was a bit denser than I liked, but the vanilla sauce on the side was amazing. Even though the bread pudding could have been more moist, that sauce fixed everything.

We arrived right when they opened and were the first customers in. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, walking us through the menu and making great suggestions. We ordered the garlic and parsley potato puffs (a must), the fried chicken sandwich, the baked rock cod wrap, and the poutine--everything was fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. If you get only one thing, it has to be the potato puffs. Crispy on the outside, fluffy inside, and perfectly seasoned. The garlic and parsley flavor did not disappoint, and now we're already planning a return visit to try the other flavors. A great spot for comfort food done right.

The potato puffs were a favorite a decade ago when it meant we had to take the bus to northside from the college campus, and they're still a favorite now years later as we drive in . They're so consistent, the potato puffs have tasted the same all these years: buttery, cloud like, delicious!

Chicken sandwich is perfect and runs laps on other menu items. Too much butter on the super popular potato balls, but still worth a try. I got the seasonal veggie wrap and it was okay! Decent sandwich place and hope to try more seasonal wraps and the salads, too.

Delicious, delicate, soft center mashed tato with a crispy outside potato puffs! This food truck has a stand out dish and its these puffs! For me they really hit the spot with the straight forward no fuss no frills just simplicity. Great price and a perfect portion! I loved the mustard sauce to go with them too! I highly recommend trying these little golden nuggets of heaven.

Potato puffs are all the rage. Croquettes of pommes purée deep fried. Crisp exterior; soft interior. Served with turmeric aïoli. Ideal for the drunk and the female, the vegan who is vegan not for any concern for animals, but because he or she is grossed out by anything that isn't bread, pasta, or potatoes. Try a box for yourself

Are all of your ingredients organic?

Thanks, Jon, for wondering about our product. Even though we strive to get the best ingredients possible, they are not always organic; if not, they are naturally raised or produced.

What kind of gravy is used for the poutine, is it vegetarian?

Thank you, Austin, for your interest in our poutine. Please note that our gravy is made with beef stock and vegetables, so it is not vegetarian. Best, Grégoire.

Do you have outdoor seating?

Yes we do have seating outside

Are they only offering one menu all day? I thought they had separate menus for lunch and dinner. It seems like they only have one menu throughout the day, every day?

Yes they do have one al day menu. The separate lunch and dinner menus are a thing of the past.

A true hidden gem right at the bottom of Solano Ave in Albany!…read more I'm embarrassed to admit that Picnic has been around for about 5 years in the east bay and I've just tried it for the first time this week. But I'm so glad I was finally introduced to it. The staff greet you promptly when you enter and you can even watch them work effortlessly together in the open prep-station behind the counter. They have a gorgeous display of deli items, wines, cheeses, cold sides, and even some cute candles & house made croutons. They've got everything you would need for an elevated picnic or even a barbecue with the family. They have an intriguing selection of house made sausages-- the Chicken Tikka Masala sausage caught my eye and I can't wait to try it. They also sell whole smoked quail that are seasoned heavily yet each bite has just the right amount of smokiness, spices, and salt. Their hot food items and sandwiches are perfect for a quick lunch during your break from work or on your way home. There are also a few counter seats if you want to enjoy your meal there. So far I've tried the smoked quail, the Muffaletta sandwich, and their green lentil soup with chicken + veg. The sandwich was filled to the brim and each bite was a flavor bomb. The lentil soup was very comforting & paired well with the smoked quail. I'm looking forward to trying everything they have to offer.

If you don't get the tuna melt or the pesto chicken with a side of their pasta salad, you're doing life wrong. Also, treat yourself to one of the cannolis - you won't regret it. The food is really good!…read more Parking in the area can be tough, but I've lucked out with finding a spot across the street both times, though I did have to drive around a bit on my first visit. I like that they have a patio area, but it's been full each time I've been, so I haven't had a chance to sit outside. The staff is kind, though they tend to be a bit slow when taking orders at the front. I guess it's nice that they don't rush things, but it can be a bit frustrating when the line is long and they're chatting with each person ordering, which feels like forever. However, once you sit down, the food is delivered quickly. During my first visit, I ordered the Lobster Roll with fries, a donut to-go, and we shared an order of Fried Mozzarella Sticks. The donut was very mild; I've had way better vegan donuts, so I wouldn't get one again. I thought the lobster roll was good, but not great. It did not remind me of a lobster roll at all and was too acidic in my opinion, so I wouldn't get that again either. I loved the mozzarella sticks, though. As a vegan, that typically dislikes vegan cheese, they were a hit. My non-vegan best friend loved them too! During my second visit, I ordered a Jalapeño Business sandwich with potato salad, rocky road to-go, and mozzarella sticks to share since I loved them so much the first time. My friend got a Buffalo Ranch Fried Chicken sandwich, and we decided to swap halves to try more things. I love spicy food, so if I had to choose a favorite, I'd pick my sandwich over hers, but both sandwiches were fantastic! The potato salad was good, but kind of bland for my taste. The rocky road was so yummy, and like last time, the mozzarella sticks did not disappoint. I love supporting fully vegan restaurants and will definitely go back to try more items on the menu. Maybe brunch next time I'm in the area? Not sure, but I highly recommend dropping by. Whether you're vegan or not, they have something tasty for everyone. In fact, each time I've gone, it's been with non-vegan friends, and they all say they'd eat here again.
