I hadn't had quiche in so long and I saw Gregoire had it on their menu so I decided to try it out. It did not disappoint! The quiche was delicious and filling, the salad dressing was also very tasty, and the potato puffs tasted a lot like the potato patties I grew up with in my childhood, which was a good surprise. For dessert we tried the blueberry mousse, which was a perfect light sweet treat after a big meal. Service was fast and the staff went above and beyond to provide a positive experience. Mostly a walk-in window, but there is a table outside with maybe a total of 4 to 6 seat seats. They got's it all! Very delicious sandwiches. Super cute little shop with limited seating. Small selection on their menu but you come for one thing and one thing only, Potato Balls! They are decently priced and they give you a lot, they are dense too, so it's worth your money. I tried the Garlic and Parmesan + White Truffle, and it was good. I was expecting more of a crispiness and texture to it. When you bite into it, it loses it shape and crumbles into your mouth. The flavor though, amazing. I ate at a nearby restaurant and walked by. I saw they had Poutine, which I absolutely love! So, I made it a point to go there to try it out. Service is quick, and staff is super friendly. I also loved that they know the neighborhood dogs, who love to stop by for a little treat of chicken. I met Wyatt the dog today. He was so well behaved and definitely deserved his treat! It was pretty busy. I know this is a local fave. There are only a few available tables and some bench seating, so keep that in mind. I think their packaging is great because it's a box, so you can take the food for a picnic. I think it's a cute little "hole in the wall," that definitely gives it a neighborhood feel. I met my husband in 2023, and I've been hearing about Gregoire potato puffs regularly since 2023. I finally got to experience them first hand! Went for a quick lunch date in Berkeley. Parking is a little tough, there's 30min parking right in front of the restaurant and 2 tables outside so it's easy to watch your car. It's very small inside, so either plan to take it to go or hope one of the two tables opens up. We got 2 potato puff flavors (garlic parm and truffle). I preferred the garlic parm, they don't skip on the parm! The potato balls are pretty rich so I could eat about 2.5. Comes with a creamy sauce. I was pleasantly surprised with their lamb burger. It was light and fresh and it gamey at all. I like the mint sauce they paired with it. Def would come back if I was in the area for a potato puff fix! read more

As I stood staring up at Gregoire's menu I couldn't help but wonder: why did this music festival in the Presidio feature 2 food trucks (total), both specializing in Fried Chicken? The above has nothing to do with Gregoire specifically, except to say that it left me wondering from which truck I should purchase fried chicken. I opted for Gregoire in the end, probably because the idea of fried chicken atop a salad sounded somewhat delightful. Delightful it was not but I'll give props where due: the fried chicken was good. But that salad... blech. The good fried chicken pieces sat atop what the menu called "spicy cole slaw" and beside asparagus-topped greens with dressing in a separate container. The slaw was over-dressed, slopping into the greens and adding the dressing to those created a combination of flavors that was not good. Two of us were sharing this $18 offering and neither of us ventured much below the chicken. Another less than good food truck experience in the books for me but had I tried only their fried chicken (and maybe the potato puffs) I expect this might've been a 4-star review. read more

The tomato soup was so warm and tasty! Definitely one of the most solid soups I have ever had. And the Potato Puffs were delicious! They are so crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Unlike anything I have ever had! The fried chicken sandwich was also good, and the lamb salad was fine as well. They are both pretty filling, but a little pricey for what it is worth. Why has it taken so long for a French-inspired food truck? They don't need to do crazy burrito fusions when a simple menu of classics done well do the trick. It's been awhile since I really appreciated a soup and sandwich like this. Fried Buttermilk Chicken Sandwich: Even though it was kinda like chicken tenders in a roll, I enjoyed this. It was reminiscent of a po' boy. And chicken tenders weren't some cheap Sysco frozen nonsense, but made by the truck people. Grilled Bavette Sandwich: An even better sandwich! Love the tender steak against the creamy cheese spread. And some nice greens. Felt so French and refined. Really setting the bar for what a food truck can do. Crispy Potato Puffs: Kinda like deep fried mashed potato balls. I'm a fan, definitely more creative than regular fries. Cream of Mushroom Soup: This whole cup of soup was an umami bomb. So delicious and simple with the mushrooms and cream. I realized it had been so long since I had mushroom soup, so kinda got me questioning why. Chocolate Bread Pudding: The bread pudding was a bit denser than I liked, but the vanilla sauce on the side was amazing. We ordered the garlic and parsley potato puffs (a must), the fried chicken sandwich, the baked rock cod wrap, and the poutine--everything was fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. If you get only one thing, it has to be the potato puffs. Crispy on the outside, fluffy inside, and perfectly seasoned. Another Berkeley institution that has gone downhill. We have had food from there many times and it has usually been great but Friday 6/12/2026 was a complete disappointment. We ordered chicken sandwiches and fries. The fries appeared to be made of cardboard and cooked yesterday. Completely inedible. Both sandwiches were just subway supermarket white rolls with dry fried chicken. Nothing else. Slaw on the side was fine and the homemade ketchup was good. When living in North Berkeley in 2015 and 2016, I frequently passed Grégoire when walking to/from the grocery store. Sometimes the lines were long, but always the smell was good. So I noted it as a place to visit with someone from out of town. My sister, Lindsey, came to visit me in 2016 and had previously spent a few months in Paris, France, for cooking school. She seemed the perfect fit to bring here. We ordered in the restaurant, waited and grabbed our food boxes, and sat at a small table out front to eat our food. I ordered an omelette that came with potatoes served with a small amount of cream on top. The flavors were subtle yet present. Temperature wise, the omelette was steaming when I opened the box and all of the items were well cooked/an all clear texturally. In terms of ambiance, the workers and decor made it a memorable experience for me. For my sister, it was a little less so in part because of her recent memories of French food in France. read more

I wish there were some veggies added in the sandwich. I feel like that would've combined well with the chicken and cheese. Overall, everything was a little underwhelming on the seasoning side for me. Beautiful setup and outdoor seating tho! Also, the food was ready really quickly. I hadn't been back here since 2021 and it was just as delicious as I remembered! My boyfriend and I ordered the fried chicken sandwich, the pork patties burger, and the potato puffs with added parmesan. I appreciate that the sandwiches come already cut in half, perfect for sharing! The fried chicken sandwich had a spicy kick without being overwhelming, and both sandwiches were very flavorful and filling. The potato puffs, which I hadn't tried before, are crisp on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside -- they almost melt in your mouth. This was a wonderful meal for a casual lunch date and I look forward to coming back! There are a few picnic tables right out front but this is primarily a takeout spot. I was visiting downtown Berkeley today to try out a nearby brewery and came across this place while looking on google maps, so I made sure to finally visit and try out their famous potato balls! I got two orders of the original potato balls with the aioli & damn this was soooo delicious! Definitely beats every other potato bal/croquettes out there! We came in on a sunny Sunday morning for brunch. It wasn't terribly crowded, but the little outside seating provided was full and we went vulture mode for our spot haha I ordered the bay scallops salad and ofc the puffs. The salad was refreshing, I loved the wide variety of greens and textures. They give a lot of scallops as well. Potato puffs are obviously the star. They're light, fluffy, smooth, crispy. They were basically these fried mashed potato balls that were deep fried. Came out super hot and the garlic aioli was excellent! Poutine was 4/5 - pretty darn good for the Bay Area!
