The coffee is really good and a good atmosphere. First two times the food was pretty good and they deserved 5 stars but the third they were out of what I wanted ( poor planning) the waiter forgot what we ordered (Maybe they're short in help). and the eggs were bland and needed salt.

Got their booza ice cream and it was so delicious and creamy. I think the price is pretty decent, especially since it comes with all the toppings (pistachio, phyllo, and rose petals). The service is really friendly too and the interior decor is welcoming. Would love to come back and try the different rotation of flavors!

My favorite thing from this cafe is their affogatos! They use their arabic booza ice cream which makes it super delicious and unique. They also have sandwiches which come on dutch crunch bread, which were delicious and big. They also have a good amount of tables to come get work done.

Clean cute cafe with a variety of menu items. Great avocado toast options and sandwiches, sweets and drinks. Service is quick, friendly and clean. Cute seating area with nice long tables where you can sit eat and work on your projects. Love to return to try more items.

Everything, from booza ice cream to knafeh, to sandwiches and drinks, are delicious at Roast & Toast. My four year-old didn't like all the mixings on top, so we let him try just the booza and he liked it! He even carried it all the way home and tried to put it in the freezer for later. The vibe is immaculate. Lots of people like to sit at the tables indoors yet the outdoor seating is truly delightful in Berkeley if you are lucky enough to get a table.

Roast & Toast Cafe is a cool cafe in Berkeley serving up coffee, teas, pastries, sandwiches, and desserts! The variety of items brings a variety of guests as well; many people working and studying, just hanging out, or eating a meal. I ordered a hot Spanish latte which I enjoyed lots!! Other people in my party enjoyed it, so they also got one for themselves. Everyone else ordered sandwiches and other beverages which they enjoyed as well. As a dessert we all got booza which was a must. We got ours topped with pistachio and phyllo dough. It was a great way to end our visit and just the right amount of sweet! I also ended up taking a Rose and Cardamom Black Tea to-go; the rose added some floral notes while the cardamom added a tiny bit of spice. Service there is amazing! One of the workers noticed someone in our party standing, and grabbed a chair for them without us even having to ask. Overall, warm vibes, good food and drinks, and great service!!

Summary: Tasty, not-too-sweet sweets Details: Having been a fan of knaffeh since I first had Lulu's take on it, I'd been wanting to come out to Roast & Toast since I first heard about it. Finally making it out, of course we got the knaffeh to try, along with a scoop of their booza ice cream, just to see what the deal with that was about as well. Overall, solid knaffeh and interesting booza (largely because of the chewier texture), though I personally would have liked if the knaffeh kept hotter than it did, cooling down a bit faster with the booza atop, causing the cheese to harden fairly quickly. But all in all, tasty treats that are well-balanced with the savory aspects, and not terribly sweet! Accessibility: Huge cafe with plenty of accessible seating. Expect your standard height display cases, which have the usual low visibility issues due to being shorter.

    Booza ice cream: It's chewy.

    - 4/5: They have traditional Turkish-style Booza ice cream, which has a chewy texture that comes from a special ingredient: salep, the root of an orchid. It's interesting, and worth trying once. To me, it's a little too much like Elmer's Glue. - 4/5: The Knafeh Nabulseyeh is a Palestinian style dessert made with semolina dough; it's super sweet and heavy. Also worth trying. Great service.

Roast and Toast Cafe is truly original. I love the set-up! They cover all the bases from that get your day started cup of coffee or afternoon pick me up cup, along with freshly baked pastries, to menu items for lunch or dinner, to freshly made gelato. Though I didn't visit for coffee, the sole purpose of every other customer that came through while I visited, was for that cup of joe alone, which leads me to believe it's some goood coffee, because there was a continuous stream of customers coming for their caffeinated fix. I on the other hand was in need of vittels and decided on the namesake sandwich, which was full of quality ingredients and large enough for my daughter and I to share, along with a spinach and onion pastry. The set-up has space where you can dine in or complete an assignment with an approaching deadline in peace. R&T offers pub-height seating as well as standard. They play a variety of music to suit any genre lover. The gentleman who assisted Me was very accommodating. I needed change for My daughter's event and he was able to provide me with $30 in singles at 9A.M; Great service is always a plus for me! The next time I'm in Berkeley R&T is where you'll find Me. Ty, for everything.

===TL;DR=== - Arabic booza w/ pistachio, phyllo dough, and rose petal toppings - Nutella pistachio croissant - Sandwiches ===TMI=== Now who doesn't like a cute cafe? Good size cafe with some outdoor seatings. Seats can be taken up quick so get here at a good time if you want to chill for some time. Nutella pistachio croissant is to die for. Toasty warm croissant with melty chocolate and pistachio is for sure the cherry on top. Can get messy so get napkins ready! Their sandwiches here are huge so I recommend ordering 1 and share with someone. Also can't go wrong with an affogato pairing. Their ice cream is thiccccccck. I got the smallest size they got and it was still a lot for me alone so those who don't have a huge sweet tooth, find someone to share it with.

We tried their homemade arabic booza. This type of ice cream is chewy and stretchy and has is own unique textures. Besides that they also have normal gelato sold at their main counter. I would recommend getting a small to split between two to three people. We all got a small and couldn't finish it, since it was pretty sweet and dense. They also gave a lot for a small and you get to decide what kind of toppings you would want on it such as rose or pistachios, etc.

Came here for a late lunch. It was packed at 1:50pm on a Saturday, Both the Pastrami Royal croissant and pistachio Nutella twist were very yummy!! The drinks for also very good. We got the Spanish latte and chai latte. They were quite big! We also tried the booza but it wasn't my thing. Overall, loved it and definitely recommend it!

Like most people, we were lured here by the Instagram photos! After making a pit stop at cheeseboard, we walked over to Roast and Toast and ordered the booza. There was a small wait and when we got up the cashier, he walked over to make our booza in front of us. He carefully crafted this small cup of "ice cream". He was very kind and offered us samples of the base booza. We opted for the original flavor and to pile the floral flavors on top. True to every social media post, the finished product was very beautiful. If you're into floral flavors, you'll really enjoy this. For those who think rose tastes like soap, I would recommend passing. Overall, I thought it tasted great! The serving size was a bit small, so be sure to fill up on your entrée prior to getting this dessert (lol).

Baristas explained that they are up for trying different and sometimes unusual combinations for their customers. I wasn't adventurous this time, but it made me want to explore in the future. I came here to work, hoping for a relatively warm and cozy spot that wasn't too sleepy. I was not disappointed. The wifi was good, music was fun and unobtrusive. Decorations and layout gave a friendly, welcoming environment. Not only were the benches and padded chairs comfy, the ambiance was kept even in the bathroom. Spacious, warm lighting, cute bathroom with a great mirror and cool sink. Artis opened on December 7, 2013 and is located on the northern end of the Fourth Street Shops (a.k.a. Fourth Street Berkeley). This is a fairly spacious cafe with an industrial/warehouse, minimalist look. During my afternoon visit, it was busy inside and out on the covered patio. Lots of people on their laptops. Artis roasts their own coffee. Service was fine. I got a side eye from the cashier/barista when I asked where the water station was (it was my first time and I was unfamiliar with this place), but they were nice and polite otherwise. The water pressure at the self-serve faucet was too strong and sprayed water everywhere. Good for a coffee fix if you're in the area.

One of my biggest pet peeves is when restaurants reduce the guality or quantity of their meal to cut costs while charging premium prices. I will say I didn't mind paying a few dollars more for their subs in the past. I went there today for the first time in a couple of years, ordered a regular size basic ruben sandwich (no add-ons) and was ok paying nearly $18 dollars for just the sandwich until they handed it to me. what I got was a small 6" sub. When did their subs shrink?? in this economy we are all struggling. I get it, things cost more but Craves' owner is not doing his patrons a service by charging them premiums while cutting back on the meals.
