Clean cute cafe with a variety of menu items. Great avocado toast options and sandwiches, sweets and drinks. Service is quick, friendly and clean. Cute seating area with nice long tables where you can sit eat and work on your projects. Love to return to try more items.

Summary: Tasty, not-too-sweet sweets Details: Having been a fan of knaffeh since I first had Lulu's take on it, I'd been wanting to come out to Roast & Toast since I first heard about it. Finally making it out, of course we got the knaffeh to try, along with a scoop of their booza ice cream, just to see what the deal with that was about as well. Overall, solid knaffeh and interesting booza (largely because of the chewier texture), though I personally would have liked if the knaffeh kept hotter than it did, cooling down a bit faster with the booza atop, causing the cheese to harden fairly quickly. But all in all, tasty treats that are well-balanced with the savory aspects, and not terribly sweet! Accessibility: Huge cafe with plenty of accessible seating. Expect your standard height display cases, which have the usual low visibility issues due to being shorter.

Booza ice cream: It's chewy.

- 4/5: They have traditional Turkish-style Booza ice cream, which has a chewy texture that comes from a special ingredient: salep, the root of an orchid. It's interesting, and worth trying once. To me, it's a little too much like Elmer's Glue. - 4/5: The Knafeh Nabulseyeh is a Palestinian style dessert made with semolina dough; it's super sweet and heavy. Also worth trying. Great service.

Just an update they no longer have the Dubai chocolate with strawberry - boo because that was really special and delicious. Hope they bring it back.

Roast and Toast Cafe is truly original. I love the set-up! They cover all the bases from that get your day started cup of coffee or afternoon pick me up cup, along with freshly baked pastries, to menu items for lunch or dinner, to freshly made gelato. Though I didn't visit for coffee, the sole purpose of every other customer that came through while I visited, was for that cup of joe alone, which leads me to believe it's some goood coffee, because there was a continuous stream of customers coming for their caffeinated fix. I on the other hand was in need of vittels and decided on the namesake sandwich, which was full of quality ingredients and large enough for my daughter and I to share, along with a spinach and onion pastry. The set-up has space where you can dine in or complete an assignment with an approaching deadline in peace. R&T offers pub-height seating as well as standard. They play a variety of music to suit any genre lover. The gentleman who assisted Me was very accommodating. I needed change for My daughter's event and he was able to provide me with $30 in singles at 9A.M; Great service is always a plus for me! The next time I'm in Berkeley R&T is where you'll find Me. Ty, for everything.

Arabic booza w/ pistachio, phyllo dough, and rose petal toppings

===TL;DR=== - Arabic booza w/ pistachio, phyllo dough, and rose petal toppings - Nutella pistachio croissant - Sandwiches ===TMI=== Now who doesn't like a cute cafe? Good size cafe with some outdoor seatings. Seats can be taken up quick so get here at a good time if you want to chill for some time. Nutella pistachio croissant is to die for. Toasty warm croissant with melty chocolate and pistachio is for sure the cherry on top. Can get messy so get napkins ready! Their sandwiches here are huge so I recommend ordering 1 and share with someone. Also can't go wrong with an affogato pairing. Their ice cream is thiccccccck. I got the smallest size they got and it was still a lot for me alone so those who don't have a huge sweet tooth, find someone to share it with.

We tried their homemade arabic booza. This type of ice cream is chewy and stretchy and has is own unique textures. Besides that they also have normal gelato sold at their main counter. I would recommend getting a small to split between two to three people. We all got a small and couldn't finish it, since it was pretty sweet and dense. They also gave a lot for a small and you get to decide what kind of toppings you would want on it such as rose or pistachios, etc.

Came here for a late lunch. It was packed at 1:50pm on a Saturday, Both the Pastrami Royal croissant and pistachio Nutella twist were very yummy!! The drinks for also very good. We got the Spanish latte and chai latte. They were quite big! We also tried the booza but it wasn't my thing. Overall, loved it and definitely recommend it!

Like most people, we were lured here by the Instagram photos! After making a pit stop at cheeseboard, we walked over to Roast and Toast and ordered the booza. There was a small wait and when we got up the cashier, he walked over to make our booza in front of us. He carefully crafted this small cup of "ice cream". He was very kind and offered us samples of the base booza. We opted for the original flavor and to pile the floral flavors on top. True to every social media post, the finished product was very beautiful. If you're into floral flavors, you'll really enjoy this. For those who think rose tastes like soap, I would recommend passing. Overall, I thought it tasted great! The serving size was a bit small, so be sure to fill up on your entrée prior to getting this dessert (lol).

Wow... this ice cream brought me back to my childhood. Incredibly authentic Arabic Ice cream that is stretchy. If you havent had this type of ice cream before you simple have not lived. I'm so happy Roast & Toast brought this to the Bay Area. Its truly a gem and a great taste of the Middle East. I also tried their Jerusalem bread, cheese, & spinach fatayir/ pies. Amazing authentic flavors & tastes like a perfected family recipes I appreciate that there is lovely seating inside & cant wait to bring my friends to this cute spot!

I only went for the Arabic booza that I saw on TikTok. Got the original flavor with pistachios and phyllo dough. They let you sample the flavors and the salted caramel was also yummy. It was described as having a mochi consistency cause it's "stretchy ice cream" but I don't think it had that texture at all. Just tasted like regular ice cream. The vibes were nice though. Cute cafe. Indoor and outdoor seating available.

I was noticing how popular this corner spot has been since they opened at the beginning of the year. I was tempted to try it, but I noticed their menu didn't feature entree salads and thought I should wait until I could afford the carbs. Then I read the recent articles about their booza, a uniquely stretchy Arabic ice cream which apparently they alone serve in the Bay Area. I've had booza before in Jordan of all places, so that didn't quite motivate me. No, I decided my gullet was ready for carbs. It was the right timing because Jamie W and I just finished our gym workout. Yes, I've been to the gym AND Jordan. As usual, the cafe was full of customers, and we discovered it's run by two enterprising young guys from Palestine. Ah, no wonder they know their booza. The Middle Eastern vibe extended to the forest green walls, the big stacks of Jerusalem sesame bread on the counter (Photo 5), and some of the appetizing ingredients in their sandwiches and desserts. We were able to secure a sidewalk table and started with a couple of refreshing $5.50 Iced Lattes as we waited for our order (Photo 10). Jamie went for the $16 Power Sandwich, an abundant creation made with smoked turkey, Swiss cheese, fresh avocado, lettuce, red onion, tomato, pesto, garlic sauce, and mayo on a soft focaccia roll (Photo 9). It gratefully came with a side of mixed greens instead of chips or fries. I ordered the $15 Garden Delight, which was indeed a veggie version of a similarly filling sandwich. It contained avocado, sprouts, sun-dried tomatoes, provolone cheese, garlic sauce, and pesto (Photo 7). Really quite delicious and not because I took a much-needed break from bread. Jamie and I agreed the bread was the standout item, and I read it's sourced from Boudin Bakery. Each of us only had capacity for half a sandwich, so we had lunch for the next day. I know we have to keep up with our gym routine to justify the calories, but hey, we both feel like it's worth it. FOOD - 5 stars...truly delicious sandwiches AMBIANCE - 4 stars...constantly crowded but there's relief outside SERVICE - 4.5 stars...busy, dedicated and cordial TOTAL - 5 stars...need to get me another sandwich and put a hold on the booza RELATED - Exploring Berkeley? The affogato here was absolutely experiential! If there's an affogato on the menu I'm looking at, it's getting ordered. They have a wide assortment of gelato to choose from. They were nice enough to let me sample and the pistachio and it's perfectly nutty, warm, and just sweet enough. I'm usually used to ice cream and espresso. Obviously, that's not good enough for Roast and Toast. Their beautiful ceramic cup is coated with Nutella and pistachios on the inside. Then comes the creamy gelato and finally the espresso. My husband and I enjoyed it in their outside seating area and could not stop saying how delightful it was. Perfect for a mid afternoon sweet treat. It was busy with a neighborhood vibes. The service is friendly and I could tell they enjoy making coffee and food. The drinks don't come out as fast as chain coffee shops but it's timely enough. I'd say they're working at a leisurely pace as to put more care into their work.

Parking was easy though, with plenty of street parking nearby. The person at the register was friendly and gave helpful tips and recommendations. While waiting, we spent time watching the co-op roasting facility in the back through the glass windows. That is what really makes this place stand out. There is indoor seating but at 11 am it was completely full! There was some outdoor seating that was open. We tried the rose latte and it was spot on. The rose flavor was subtle and well balanced, not overpowering at all and the coffee was delicious! The only downside was that there were no gluten free pastries available that day, although I have heard they sometimes offer them. Overall, great coffee, a relaxed vibe, and a unique experience that is worth checking out and we will be back!

We ordered an iced mocha and two of their pastries. I thought the coffee tasted pretty solid, it wasn't too sweet and the pastries was really good. There are plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors. It's super cool that they roast their own beans in-store.

It was an unexpectedly warm day, so I stopped in for an iced caffeinated beverage. I was indecisive when it was my turn to order, so the barista recommended the orange blossom matcha sparkler. This sounded intriguing and refreshing, so I decided to give it a try. My beverage was prepared about two minutes after I ordered it, and I was immediately refreshed after the first sip. The orange blossom flavoring was very subtle and provided just the right amount of sweetness and floral essence to counter the matcha's bitterness. The fizziness made this a perfect drink for a hot day. I've tried Mind Coffee's espresso on a prior visit, and I can now say they succeed in both the coffee and matcha categories.

We ordered an Americano, the Earl Gray Matcha Einspanner Latte, and the Sakura Matcha Mindspanner Latte. The presentation was gorgeous, from the cups to the cream. The Sakura Matcha Mindspanner was definitely my favorite all around. The hint of sakura combined with the bold matcha was a very fun flavor experience. I think sadly, in the Earl Gray Matcha Einspanner, the matcha overpowered the earl gray. The flavor was there, but it was extremely subtle (don't get me wrong, I'd definitely get it again). Also, their espresso is unmatched. It really reminded me what a good espresso shot should taste like. The staff here were super friendly right off the bath. Even though there is an ordering kiosk available, they still went out of their way to greet us and let us know that they are there to also take orders and answer questions. I was also a bit bummed that they were sold out of their Orange Blossom Latte. I feel like it would taste like an orange creamsicle. They were very reassuring that it's a regular menu item and that I can hopefully get my hands on one before it sells out for the day next time! I can't wait to see what they come out with next!
