Perfect brunch place for a group, many menu options and seats! My party got a caramel macchiato, hot chocolate, green tea and a chai latte, all turned out great. Everyone loved what they got, croissant sandwich, egg/avocado toast, bagel sandwich (pictured). So nice to see they have gluten-free toast available! Service was quick especially for the amount we ordered. Everyone was nice, especially the worker that hand scooped our Booza icecream at the end. I've become a regular at Roasted and Toasted because it's a great place to grab a coffee, get some work done, or just relax. They have plenty of seating, and one of the biggest advantages is their excellent Wi-Fi speed, which makes it a reliable spot for remote work or studying. The atmosphere is enjoyable as well. There's usually music playing or a sports game on the TV, creating a comfortable, laid-back environment without being distracting. Their food selection is also better than you'd expect from a coffee shop. In addition to coffee and pastries, they offer cakes, breakfast items, and a variety of other snacks and treats, so there's always something to pair with your drink. Their hours are convenient, making it easy to stop by throughout the day. The only area where I think there's room for improvement is cleanliness. I've noticed on several occasions that when I arrive shortly after opening--sometimes within 30 minutes to an hour--there are still crumbs on the chairs, tables, and floor, even when there haven't been many customers yet. First impressions matter, and the café should be fully cleaned and ready for guests before the doors open. Customers shouldn't have to wipe down their own tables before sitting. Overall, I really enjoy coming here and would absolutely recommend it for the atmosphere, Wi-Fi, seating, and food options. With a little more attention to cleanliness before opening each day, it would be an even better experience. read more

Overall, solid knaffeh and interesting booza (largely because of the chewier texture), though I personally would have liked if the knaffeh kept hotter than it did, cooling down a bit faster with the booza atop, causing the cheese to harden fairly quickly. But all in all, tasty treats that are well-balanced with the savory aspects, and not terribly sweet! Accessibility: Huge cafe with plenty of accessible seating. They cover all the bases from that get your day started cup of coffee or afternoon pick me up cup, along with freshly baked pastries, to menu items for lunch or dinner, to freshly made gelato. Though I didn't visit for coffee, the sole purpose of every other customer that came through while I visited, was for that cup of joe alone, which leads me to believe it's some goood coffee, because there was a continuous stream of customers coming for their caffeinated fix. I on the other hand was in need of vittels and decided on the namesake sandwich, which was full of quality ingredients and large enough for my daughter and I to share, along with a spinach and onion pastry. The set-up has space where you can dine in or complete an assignment with an approaching deadline in peace. R&T offers pub-height seating as well as standard. They play a variety of music to suit any genre lover. The gentleman who assisted Me was very accommodating. I needed change for My daughter's event and he was able to provide me with $30 in singles at 9A.M; Great service is always a plus for me! The next time I'm in Berkeley R&T is where you'll find Me. We tried their homemade arabic booza. This type of ice cream is chewy and stretchy and has is own unique textures. Besides that they also have normal gelato sold at their main counter. I would recommend getting a small to split between two to three people. We all got a small and couldn't finish it, since it was pretty sweet and dense. There was a small wait and when we got up the cashier, he walked over to make our booza in front of us. He carefully crafted this small cup of "ice cream". He was very kind and offered us samples of the base booza. We opted for the original flavor and to pile the floral flavors on top. True to every social media post, the finished product was very beautiful. If you're into floral flavors, you'll really enjoy this. For those who think rose tastes like soap, I would recommend passing. Overall, I thought it tasted great! The affogato here was absolutely experiential! If there's an affogato on the menu I'm looking at, it's getting ordered. They have a wide assortment of gelato to choose from. They were nice enough to let me sample and the pistachio and it's perfectly nutty, warm, and just sweet enough. I'm usually used to ice cream and espresso. Obviously, that's not good enough for Roast and Toast. Their beautiful ceramic cup is coated with Nutella and pistachios on the inside. Then comes the creamy gelato and finally the espresso. My husband and I enjoyed it in their outside seating area and could not stop saying how delightful it was. Perfect for a mid afternoon sweet treat. It was busy with a neighborhood vibes. The service is friendly and I could tell they enjoy making coffee and food. The drinks don't come out as fast as chain coffee shops but it's timely enough. I was noticing how popular this corner spot has been since they opened at the beginning of the year. I was tempted to try it, but I noticed their menu didn't feature entree salads and thought I should wait until I could afford the carbs. Then I read the recent articles about their booza, a uniquely stretchy Arabic ice cream which apparently they alone serve in the Bay Area. I've had booza before in Jordan of all places, so that didn't quite motivate me. No, I decided my gullet was ready for carbs. It was the right timing because Jamie W and I just finished our gym workout. Yes, I've been to the gym AND Jordan. As usual, the cafe was full of customers, and we discovered it's run by two enterprising young guys from Palestine. Ah, no wonder they know their booza. The Middle Eastern vibe extended to the forest green walls, the big stacks of Jerusalem sesame bread on the counter (Photo 5), and some of the appetizing ingredients in their sandwiches and desserts. We were able to secure a sidewalk table and started with a couple of refreshing $5.50 Iced Lattes as we waited for our order (Photo 10). Jamie went for the $16 Power Sandwich, an abundant creation made with smoked turkey, Swiss cheese, fresh avocado, lettuce, red onion, tomato, pesto, garlic sauce, and mayo on a soft focaccia roll (Photo 9). It gratefully came with a side of mixed greens instead of chips or fries. I ordered the $15 Garden Delight, which was indeed a veggie version of a similarly filling sandwich. It contained avocado, sprouts, sun-dried tomatoes, provolone cheese, garlic sauce, and pesto (Photo 7). Really quite delicious and not because I took a much-needed break from bread. Jamie and I agreed the bread was the standout item, and I read it's sourced from Boudin Bakery. Each of us only had capacity for half a sandwich, so we had lunch for the next day. I know we have to keep up with our gym routine to justify the calories, but hey, we both feel like it's worth it. I think they need to rename themselves to something more indicative of all the amazing Middle Eastern treats inside. If I had walked by without being in the know, I probably wouldn't have taken a look inside. Thankfully, a friend gave us a heads up to try their booza and it was amazing! The mastic gives the booza an almost chewy texture that we really enjoyed. We also tried the kunafeh and topped it with our booza for a nice combo dessert. read more

Came here to try their stretchy booza ice cream after I saw it featured in a couple different places. Unfortunately after trying some samples, I realized it wasn't for me and I got a Dubai strawberry cup instead. I dropped by Sunday afternoon around 4 pm and it was hopping. Most tables inside and outside were occupied. They had a large selection of baked goods on display which looked really good, but I was full from lunch, so I went straight to the booza stand. They had two flavors available that day: the original and rose. I tried samples of both, but unfortunately there was an odd taste in both that I didn't like, so I didn't buy a cup. Also, I tasted strong hints of cardamom in the the rose booza, and I don't like it that much. I was pretty disappointed as I've had my eye on Roast & Toast for their booza for a while. Instead, I ended up ordering a Dubai strawberry cup for $12. The cup comes with a generous amount of fresh sliced strawberries with Nutella, pistachio cream, chopped pistachio, and shredded knafeh. This was really good, but I wish they put more pistachio cream as it was completely drowned out by the Nutella. read more

Went to try the Arabic booza ice cream and it was very good. The guy at the counter was very nice and everyone in our party got to taste test the ice cream before purchase. I haven't tried other items in this cafe so am looking forward to returning soon. I tried to order some of the dessert items they had in store via DoorDash and it seemed like they only have the sandwich menu. Would love to see the delivery menu expand. read more

It's hard to go wrong with anything you order at Roast and Toast. They have excellent sandwich options with fresh and flavorful ingredients. The Roast N Toast special is a stand out. It's an enormous sandwich with very unique & creative ingredients, that just work very well together. The Tuscan chicken is also a great choice! The Sahlab coffee is absolutely delicious & trust me, the coconut, cinnamon & pistachio topping add so much flavor. For dessert, don't miss out on the Bouza (Arabic word meaning ice cream).
