    Florentine Bennie

This used to be Walker's Pie Shop back in the day! The new restaurant looks a lot like the old place. The food and service are excellent. I ordered the Hash Bennie and my friend ordered the Florentine Bennie. I got the hash browns with mine and he got the parmesan roasted potatoes. Both breakfasts were excellent. The hash under my perfectly poached eggs was nice and crispy and not overly salty. Which if you've read my other reviews is an issue for me! The English muffin was nicely toasted and there was just the right amount of hollandaise, so the muffin stayed nice. Also, there wasn't any additional water from the poached eggs which is also a pet peeve of mine. The hash browns were good and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Pretty much a 10/10 on the execution of the food. My friend also thought the food and service was great! The service staff was wonderful. They came by to check to make sure everything was good but didn't hover. I will for sure come back here next time I'm in town!!

I came during lunch time and was pleasantly surprised! The service was quick and the servers were very attentive. Everyone helped out. I ordered the salmon Cobb salad and it was great! Salmon was cooked to perfection and they gave a nice size portion. I would say they need more lettuce but that was the only complaint. I would definitely be back!

A family place with good food and comfortable setting. As sick, the service was a bit slow but I'm sure the kitchen was doing the best they could. We all quite enjoyed the food and it gave us time to chat anyway. Open faced crab sandwich and fries.. yum! If you want a cold crab sandwich, you can get that also, but closed with two slices of bread. Eggs and corned beef hash didn't disappoint. They know how to cook hash browns among the best of them! Crispy and yummy! They also know how to make soft eggs when you order them "wet".

The breakfast burrito was perfection! Nice crispy wrap with delicate eggs, salsa, avocado and apple chicken sausage. The side salad was decent but nothing special. Oatmeal was pretty good. The winner was the breakfast burrito. I would def go back for this.

This Restaurant has 2 sides to it, so it's a good size. We went there for breakfast. Nice thick pancakes. Good prices for breakfast. I would come back to try other stuff on the menu. Good customer service. :)

If you're looking for a perfect blend of upscale diner food with neighborhood charm, Duo Grill House is the spot. I've been on the hunt for a great Monte Cristo for a while, and I was blown away by theirs--so much so, I've indulged in it twice this week! The menu offers classic diner dishes, but with an elevated twist that makes everything feel special. The portions are generous, and the prices? You truly get more than what you pay for, which is a rare treat these days. The service here is warm, friendly, and fast--just what you want from a neighborhood favorite. The cafe has a cozy front seating area, and plenty of tables inside, making it perfect whether you want a quick bite or a leisurely meal. The only suggestion I'd make to elevate the atmosphere further is to add a splash of color--some art or a few indoor plants could really brighten things up. But even without that, Duo Cafe has earned its five-star status in my book. The vibe is relaxed, and it feels like a place you can return to over and over again. Highly recommend!

My wife and I came here for lunch during the week. The food was good and pretty reasonably priced for Berkeley. My wife got the eggs benedict with potatoes and I got a burger. The burger was excellent, with great flavor and a very fresh tasting bun. The fries tasted like they came from a McDonald's, which was mind-blowing. Really good! The eggs benedict were well cooked and my wife liked them. The potatoes were very crispy and well made. The service was okay, we were left for a few long periods without refills on our drinks which was annoying given the relative dearth of other customers in the place. But once they saw we were looking for help, they came around to help. The ambiance is good. It's clean and well lit. Feels like it's pretty fresh and not worn in yet, if that makes sense. I'm hoping to come back a few more times to see how it holds up. TL;DR: A nice diner with good food, good prices, and okay service.

Not bad. Ordered a Duo Combo for brunch, very delicious but it's not pretty friendly for people who come here first

Probably a 3.5. Nothing bad at all, but nothing screamed out. It's a diner without the huge portions. The menu is like 5 pages long and runs the gamut of anything you could want, including a whole range of Mexican eats. Inside decor is a diner with red booths and all. A fairly large space so definitely good for groups. They have a few tables in a bare bones parklet outside. We were there for brunch and prices were reasonable and fare was solid. Nothing too crazy, but good. The green chilaquiles were good, very mild, and the veggie scrambler was a nice sized meal with potatoes and toast. Overall, with no wait, this spot was totally a solid spot for outdoor brunch on a Sunday morning when Sam's Log Cabin was 30+ minutes. Again, nothing unique here, but service was quick, it wasn't crowded and prices were middle of then road.

Unfortunately the food was just as bad and overpriced as the first time, I really don't understand how this place is so well reviewed. We both ordered 310 Burgers, one on the regular brioche bun and one on a lettuce wrap. The lettuce wrap came in two steamed, wilted pieces of iceberg, while the brioche bun was untoasted, foamy-textured and soggy. Both medium burgers had the consistency of boiled meatballs. The bacon jam was decent, but the overall experience was wildly unappetizing. We also both got plain fries, which were somehow greasy and dry at the same time, and instantly turned stale as they cooled down. We really hoped for this place because it's conveniently located, and all the other decent burger spots nearby have closed, but sadly we won't be giving 310 Eatery a third try.

The sandwiches come with a side, so one plate we did fries with a house-made aioli and the other plate, their quinoa kale salad. Delicious. Such hearty portions! The bread is so fresh, the meat juicy and ample, and flavors just right. We also ordered beer on tap, shoutout to Oakland United, and tried their house-made hot sauce that they also sell by the bottle. Would love to come back to try brunch here too. I also saw a patron ordering the quinoa kale salad with fried chicken, and yes, that's the vibe! As I said, I love the idea of this place and really want it to succeed. Especially at its new Solano location. I spend lots of time on Solano because I live and work nearby. And I eat out often. UPDATE 5/13/26: I forgot to mention yesterday in my review that I liked the portion sizes. I disagree with the people who say the portions are too small. Most restaurants, in my opinion, give us too much food, which I think contributes to the obesity epidemic. (And I don't exclude myself from that afflicted population.) To those who say that it's too expensive for the amount of food you get, I say that operating a restaurant that prepares and serves healthy, fresh food and pays its staff well is an expensive enterprise. I support them in their endeavor and hope they will succeed. 5/12/26: I love the idea of this place, and I like the ambience (although the wooden benches are pretty hard and could use some cushions -- but I know that likely goes against their "keep it simple and easy to clean" aesthetic). So, I was excited about all the healthy gluten-free options on the menu and excited to eat here for the first time today. But I am not impressed so far. I did a BYO BOWL. The Picadillo beef sounded so good in the description! But it tasted like the dry ground beef from a cheap taco. (I thought it was going to be chunks of beef in a deliciously seasoned broth!) The fingerling potatoes and sweet potatoes were dry and pretty nondescript. The wild rice blend was OK. Given how dry and tasteless (or unpleasant in the case of the ground beef) everything (other than the rice) was, it was impossible to improve it all with the small amount of dressing that comes in a separate container. (I chose jalapeño lime dressing, and liked it a lot.) I will return and try other things on the menu because I'm so excited about the menu being gluten-free and using such healthy ingredients. I will update my journey with this restaurant as it continues. The service, by the way, was lovely. The music is calming and beautiful. I appreciate the (what I think are) big, acoustic sound-absorbing "tiles" on the ceiling. They are even making bearable the screaming toddlers who recently came in. (I'm glad their parents are feeding them healthy food.)

I will most definitely be coming back to order more, and on an emptier stomach, so I can eat without stopping. The service here really stood out and made the whole experience even better. From the start, we were greeted with genuine smiles and were even generous enough to change our seating because the sun was hitting our faces.
