I really like Suzette. Have had various brunch and dinner crepes in the savory buckwheat crepe and some dessert crepes on the sweet crepe. It's a mix of styles, and the kind of crepes you could eat daily. Not as pegged to European styles as other options in the east bay and San Francisco, and I'm okay with that. There are good options in the area if that's what you really want. Portions are generous without being over, but not delicate or precious in a way that leaves you hungry after. The room is unique and comfy, and almost-but-not-quite kitschy. It's a feel good spot.

My visit at Suzette Crepe cafe was my first. It's a husband and wife team and the cafe seats about 25-30 so it's not a big space. It's very clean and decorated nicely. The service was very nice and friendly. In fact, a customer spilled their hot drink and the wife came over to clean it up and made another drink for her. I ordered The Boston Crepe with egg, bacon bits and cheddar cheese. It was a very simple plating, but it was very tasty. I will have to return a few times to try the other items on the menu. There are both sweet and savory crepes, salads, and hot and cold drinks. I will definitely return and I would recommend this cafe especially if want something a little different.

Don't come here if you're looking for authentic galette au sarrasin (buckwheat crepes) like they are made in France. * They were missing the glistening butter on the top layer. * I asked for the square style, like in France, with the egg in the middle, but instead I got a folded crepe in the form of a triangle with a fried egg on top. * I got the 100% gluten-free buckwheat galette but the texture was thicker than what I am used to. The oat latte was good.

We arrived mid-afternoon when there was only one other patron. Lots of savory & see Et crepes. We ordered one delicious latte (owner uses Mr. Espresso & was quite familiar w/ brand & its founder), a lemon crepe (very light, tart & tasty) and a generous-sized Albany savory crepe (ham, mushroom, Swiss cheese). Great to share. Can't believe it's been in business 15 years!! Real casual, reasonably priced gem.

Bonjour! I hope You know that hidden gems do exist on solano ave and Crepe Suzette is one of them. No matter you're craving; sweet or savory..Viro (owner and chef) has the art of crepe making down to suit your taste buds. Delicious and cute, serve is relaxed and fast and prices are moderate to match today's economy. I most recently came here on a date with my girlfriend and we had a nice time, not to mention delicious French Roast coffee from Mr. Espresso. Viro was happy to suit our sweet needs with our crepes from the menu and also informed us, if we have any allergies, he would be more than Happy to accommodate. We enjoyed the strawberry crepe(classic with strawberry compote) and the campfire crepe (s'mores galore and super sweet!) pictured below;

Such a sweet restaurant with adorable interior to replicate a French cafe environment. The little interior cafe awning over the register really seals the deal. I ordered an oat milk hot chocolate and the oat milk was steamed perfectly-- most restaurants dont bother to steam a non-espresso so i LOVED this touch. The gentleman at the register asked if I wanted it sweeter or less sweet, which I really appreciate because I like a less sweet drink. It was sweet but balanced nicely because it was so hot and well mixed. I drank this before I could get a photo! I also ordered the vegetarian crepe and it came out hot and perfect. The husband and wife working here seem so sweet and friendly with their regular customers. I will definitely be coming back whenever I need a bite to eat on Solano!

Stumbled upon this place last week and I've already been back twice! They offer a selection of both sweet and savory crepes which are packed with flavor and big enough to share with 2 people. This was a great option for brunch!! My fave was the Paradise crepe (strawberry, banana, and Nutella with a side of icecream) You order at the counter and they will bring your order to your table once's it's ready. The service is fast, and the staff is friendly. Ambiance is welcoming and simple! Plus there's both indoor and outdoor seating!

The crepes were very good and very generous sizes and fillings. Probably some of the most generously filled crepes I've had. The service was fast and friendly too. As good and as generous as the crepe was, I felt like it was missing something like whipped cream. It's a 4.5 for me, I would most definitely go back and recommend.

Now why would you name yourself Suzette Crepe and not offer Crepes Suzette? Oh sure, it may be an old-world, Frenchy-French creation, and yeah, they do require a liquor license and an open flame since brandy and flambé are involved. OK, Jamie W. and I didn't need to get our drunk on when we entered this tiny space on Solano Avenue. We were actually lured by their robust salad menu. It's not that we don't get hankerings for crepes, but we look for a nutritious meal when we can and the salads fit the bill. On our virginal visit, Jamie tried the $7.95 Cobb Salad, a refreshing version with mixed greens, grilled chicken, bacon bits, sliced hard-boiled egg, blue cheese, avocado, and tomato slices drizzled with lemon vinaigrette (photo: http://bit.ly/2E5bsEq). I went for the quite satisfying $7.95 Salade Nicoise with tuna, lettuce, sliced hard-boiled egg, black olives, tomato slices, and lemon wedges drizzled with an Italian vinaigrette (photo: http://bit.ly/2SV7B7i). C'est cafe francaise, non? Not really but good enough, mon ami. It was indeed the ideal light Sunday lunch in Albany. We came back a few weeks later, and Jamie, being a creature of predictable habit, ordered the Cobb yet again with the same satisfying results. Me being such a culinary rebel without a clue, I decided to try the $7.95 Cheese & Apple Salad which also included a spring mix, avocado slices, goat cheese, and walnuts in an Italian vinaigrette (photo: http://bit.ly/2E0ywnX). It was almost dessert-like in a cheese course kind of way. So I guess they don't need to flambé some brandy in a white chef's hat to live up to their name. Just keep those salads coming, and we'll be just fine. FOOD - 4 stars...this may be a creperie but the salads score, too AMBIANCE - 3.5 stars...very petite, n'est-ce pas? SERVICE - 3.5 stars...quietly efficient TOTAL - 4 stars....Crepes Suzette, s'il vous plait...non? RELATED - Looking for other dining options in Berkeley and Albany? We sat down and the server who is also the chef's wife, a fact she made sure we understood throughout the evening, asked what we wanted to order. We asked how many lamb chops came with the lamb chop plate. She explained that they were priced by weight and that, because it was dinner, they could only serve us a large plate. Fine. We ordered the large plate. She then began repeatedly reminding us that they are not a restaurant. Despite the giant "RESTAURANT" sign behind her. According to her, it is a wine bar. This distinction became particularly important because we had five people in our party, including a two kids. We tried to order an item off of the kids menu and were told they don't serve it at dinner because, again, this is a wine bar, not a restaurant. Okay. We ordered beef, lamb and chicken shawarma, a chicken kebab plate, and the large plate of lamb chops. Then things got weird. The chef, the husband, came out with a plate of 3 small lamb chops. I had read a previous review mentioning that someone felt they'd been shorted on the portion size by the wife, so I very specifically asked him whether the plate was the small or large portion. Without hesitation, he said small. I told him we had ordered the large. He looked confused and said, "I can get you whatever you want." At this point, the wife came storming outside and insisted that it was a large portion. She then proceeded to show me photographs of the raw lamb chops placed on a cutting board on her phone as visual evidence of the weight of the meat. All while I was eating. I suggested she speak with the chef about it, at which point she very aggressively said: "HE'S MY HUSBAND!" And I said, "Well, I never denied that fact." I was no longer sure if I was at dinner, witnessing a marital dispute, or participating in an episode of reality television. The food, unfortunately, did not redeem the experience. It was terrible, even for a wine bar that insists it is not a restaurant. The vibes were completely unhinged. And, as if the evening hadn't already provided enough entertainment, at one point a baby fell down at the bar. Five stars for the experience if you enjoy chaos and confusion. One star for the food and hospitality. I still have no idea whether we ate at a restaurant or a wine bar. One thing is for sure, I'm not going back!

Located a few blocks from University Avenue, parking can be a challenge so give yourself ample time to find parking. The restaurant itself has a nostalgic "classic" feel to it separated into two sections; the bottom is for the pre fixe menu while upstairs is a la carte. Their option design kitchen which you will walk past on your way to the restroom is worth a visit. We opted to the pre fixe menu which was $175 for a Thursday four course meal. The palate starter really got our palate going with a small bite consist of a toasted crouton with creme fresh and fresh fruit. Their fresh bread and butter is simply addicting; it's hot and crunchy on the outside but software and a light chew for the inside. The first appetizer course was a seared tuna with fresh vegetables. Although the seared tuna was good, the star really was the fresh vegetables and the sweet tomatoes. The mushroom risotto was very flavorful and well balanced as-is without the added parmesan cheese. The mushroom added an additional texture and flavor. Of all the dishes, the main course, the Pork was my favorite. It was cooked and sliced perfectly where the texture was closer to ham but more flavorful.. This dish was paired with fresh vegetables and peppers balancing the savory sauce. Dessert was also exceptional; they paired a passion fruit ice cream with pavlova (taste like hardened meringue) that soaked up the raspberry/blueberry sauce. Staff here are friendly and will take time to interact and educate you about the history of restaurant, it's farm to table concept or suggest various wine pairing options. Overall, $175 for a meal is not very good considering the high cost of food and labor. Because of it's ever changing menu I commend the chef for somehow able to pair the pre fixe menu so perfectly.

I'm ready to take this street and head straight into the heart of Rome, or Berkeley so to speak,…read moreespecially if the food is this deliciously prepared as it is at Via Del Corso! Located in the heart of Berkeley's trendy North Shattuck business area that covers most of the northern part of the busy thoroughfare of Shattuck Avenue, Via Del Corso comes from owner Peter Chastain, a local restaurateur who made sure to save a longtime favorite local restaurant that was known as Corso, in a prine dining destination. Chastain did so by assembling an amazing team that guaranteed authentic cuisine that could be found not in just one but throughout many regions in Italy, much in part thanks to Chef de cuisine Massimo Orlando, who brings his heritage from northern Italy into all of their dishes. What brought me and two other diners here on a busy Saturday evening was the buzz that has been constant ever since they opened Via Del Corso in the summer of 2021 and we wanted to see what it was all about. Reservations on the OpenTable even a mere two days out were actually easy to make, as we arrived a few minutes late and they were still gracious enough to take our party and seat us with a view of their open kitchen, where no fewer than five chefs were cooking up a storm all evening long. The dinner menu at Via Del Corso is separated into categories including Spuntini, which are little bites; Antipasti e Insalate, which are their Appetizers and Salads; Primi Piatti or first course dishes; Piatto del Giorno or Dish of the Day; Secondi Piatti or second course dishes; Contorni or sides; and Dolchi or desserts. To start our meal we decided to order their Insalata di Polpo, which was their poached octopus served with Yukon gold potatoes, Gaeta olives, celery, sweet onions, and topped with lemon and extra virgin olive oil. Served with the perfect amount of umami and flair this starting dish was the perfect starting dish and made us eager for more of what Via Del Corso had to offer. As for the second course in our meal, we knew we wanted to share in their deliciously handcrafted pasta entrées, and it was recommended by our server Mike to order their signature pasta entrée, their Ravioli con Spungnole e Fave, which were their fresh pasta raviolis filled with sheep's milk ricotta, served with fresh morel mushrooms, fava beans and topped with Parmigiano cheese; and then we ordered a half portion of their Tagliatelle al Ragu which is their fresh egg pasta topped with Emilian meat sauce and Parmigiano Reggiano. For our main courses, we decided to split two entrées, their Petto d'Anatra con Ciliegie e Balsamico, which was their seared duck breast topped with their balsamico condimento, blistered cherries, and sautéed spinach; and their Bistecca di Manzo alla Griglia which is their Grilled Prime New York Steak served with rucola, lemon, and shaved Parmigiano. We also opted to have it served with Lardo which was a film of buttery garlic and cost an additional four dollars. The pastas would be presented to our table first and they were two of the most lovingly crafted pasta dishes we have enjoyed in some time. The real star recommended their ravioli as the were a meal unto itself with beautiful triangle shaped pouches filled with fresh cheese topped with unique mushrooms combined with an unbelievably tasty sauce. At 60 dollars our Bistecca was a wonderfully composed dish that was served with an elegantly composed arugula side dish and would have been a wonderful solo entrée to enjoy. The seared duck was a nice heavy dish that I most likely would not order a second time, as we saw the halibut being a nicely composed dish from a table far away, and nothing but good things about their signature pork chop. With a total bill of $194 for five dishes, a return visit would be a must to Via Del Corso, as we found this restaurant lively, in a good way, the service attentive, and most importantly the food prepared in a way that would make us come back for many more return visits. A neighborhood gem that everyone can enjoy!

The shop is always very clean and has the whole French vibe going on with the decorations, etc. Café Parisian is run by a pair of twins from Paris: HOCINE and AHCE. "Les rois de la boulangerie" I believe they share duties at their other shoppe in Paris and rotate locations from time to time. Even if you're not hungry, it's worth a trip to stop in to say bonjour and of course grab a box of pastries to go! It is indeed a joy to speak with them and today Hocine was attending the front counter. He genuinely is a very friendly man with a quick wit and a humorous personality. The service is second to none and a rarity in many places these days. Like a Traiteur HOCINE is catering to your every need and explaining anything that you need to know. If you ask what ingredients are in something he will lay it all out in a succinct manner. I was just taking a peek to see what was new because I haven't been in there for a minute and I just had a lousy empanada (from a tree that bears fruit) down the street that was close to being inedible! I was thinking about having a burrito up the road a bit until we started chatting and I just couldn't leave without having lunch. I opted for this "round sandwich" or savory pastry stuffed with many vegetables including mushrooms, brussel sprouts, and more. A large portion and truly magnificent. It was cut into to four pieces, served with some nice hot sauce packets and could've been shared. My lunch partner had a similar sandwich, but his was with chicken. His assessment? "SUBLIME". Well, Mr. HOCINE lives up to the origin of his name, which can translate to pride and identity. Food / Wine: I did a flight ($24 for 3 half-pours). I went with a sparkling rose, a springy white, and finished with a gamay. All were delicious, especially the sparkling rose. I also ordered the anchovy plate. The bread, butter, and pepper spread were great. I imagine their larger charcuterie board would be perfect for a party of 2 or more. Service: There was one person working and four customers at the bar. I was greeted and everything came out quick enough. My only knock is that in a place called Banter you'd think the staff would have a bit of banter, at least an introduction in an effort to create some regulars. Ambiance: This was my favorite part of the experience. There's a nice collection of vinyl along with VHS tapes. The combination of the Psychedelic Furs on vinyl while Mannequin was playing on some very small old TVs was definitely a delightful throwback... and yes, I recognized Andrew McCarthy and named the movie in less than 3-minutes Clean restroom, great actually vintage decor, and a pinball machine that will get some attention from me next time!
