Been coming to Solano Junction for years and years now, it's my favorite brunch place in the Bay Area even after moving out of the area. The service is always quick, welcoming and nice. They always seem to remember my fiancé and I even if we haven't been in a long time which makes us feel at home. The inside is large, and you can even sit at the bar if you don't want to wait for a table. My favorite is sitting outside on the patio on a nice day to people watch. They are also dog friendly! I can confidently say I have tried EVERYTHING on the menu both breakfast and lunch and it's all delicious. Their hot sauce that they make in house is out of this world. When I first started coming years ago, they were just starting to try bottomless mimosas on their menu and my fiancé and I were definitely their guinea pigs. We've tried all their flavors, but our personal favorites are lavender and strawberry. Though their bottomless time limit has gone down (only an hour) and prices have gone up, it's still worth it.

This was our second time around and everything was absolutely tasty! A lot of different flavors of mimosas and a variety of meals on the menu. Definitely would recommend going here for brunch!

Had brunch with my daughters on Easter Sunday, had a great time. Was seated within 10 mins outside (per request). Food was delicious and staff were attentive and kind. Order came out to $100 including tip. Will definitely be returning.

Went to Solano Junction for a birthday brunch! A cute, old school (late 20th c.) Northern CA diner with a late 1970's vibe. No frills, just comfort food done well. First, I was impressed by the greeter and wait staff. Well trained, professional, efficient. They turn tables quickly and keep the place clean. Seating & Service is brisk and attentive. You're never left looking around for help. They're on the ball. Room is comfortable. Not trendy. Well organized. Chairs could be a little more butt & back friendly, but that's nitpicking. Counter service is an option if you do not want to wait. They also take reservations for bigger parties. Food was delicious & everything it should be given the menu. Down the middle diner food. We both got breakfasts with pancakes. Both with eggs. One with sausage, one with bacon. My only small critique is that the eggs are dead bland. Like zero salt. I'm guessing that make them this way so that people can salt and sauce to their own taste? I personally would throw a tiny amount of salt in. But they were fine with sourdough toast. Fried potatoes were tasty. Not greasy or over seasoned or like many restaurants' potatoes. Pancakes were acceptable, not great, but good. Would love to see them develop that recipe a little more to transcend the commercial pancake mix taste. Blueberry pancakes DO have blueberries mixed in! A bonus. And regular pancakes come with fresh fruit on top. Nice touch. Good tea. Mighty Leaf. All in all a good experience. Would come here again! Ambiance: 4.5, Service: 5, Food: 4.5

Huevos Rancheros - A breakfast dish of huevos rancheros is presented on a white plate, with a bed of black beans topped with scrambled eggs, fresh tomato salsa, and a dollop of sour cream. The dish appears to be served outdoors, with a hand holding a napkin and utensils visible in the background.

Dropped in to Solano Junction for breakfast with my mom. She ordered the Huevos Rancheros with chorizo and my she loved it I went for the beet salad with a side of chicken strips which I really enjoyed a health meal. The strips were well seasoned to take it over the top good. Staff is super friendly and we always have a good experience here.

So we just happened upon this spot on a day out. We sat outside on a nice crisp sunny day. We enjoyed people watching while we sipped on a bloody Mary and an espresso martini. The martini was excellent. Then I had the classic eggs Benedict with bacon. It was delicious. Hollandaise was really good. I got a side salad i steadily of potatoes and it was good. Enjoyed the simple dressing and the salt on the salad. The service was great! Everything was great.

The wait was about 15-20 minutes. But the service was spectacular. I came here for a brunch birthday celebration. It was a great! The sun was out and we were able to sit outside. The server anticipated our wants which was even more incredible. For instance, brought another round of coffee with the creamer without us saying anything. In addition, brought ranch and a aoli, and hot sauce without us having to ask! The food was superb and with the service it made it even more special. Will definitely go back!

We stopped by Solano Junction on a whim last week for some lunch. Being that it was New Years Eve, we were not too surprised at the large number of people on the waitlist in front of us. Although they have a tablet at the entrance to add yourself to the waitlist, it isn't a Yelp waitlist so waitlisting yourself in advance is not possible. Despite the waitlist and limited seating both indoors and out, we only had about a 20min wait until they had a table for us. I ordered the Huevos Rancheros, consisting of delicious chorizos, black beans, cheese, pico de gallo, all wrapped in a tortilla and topped with two eggs (I chose over medium because nothing is better than the runny egg yolk mixed in). It was pretty sizable, and absolutely delicious! The wife got the Grand Canyon Scramble, and she thoroughly enjoyed it as well. Service is friendly, albeit always in a hurry as they are quite busy. Free street parking is available along Solano and into the residential streets.

Kids Mini Cake - A plate of three pancakes topped with powdered sugar, decorated with blueberries for eyes, a strawberry slice for a mouth, and a small piece of strawberry for a nose, resembling a face. The pancakes are on a white plate, with a child's head and a drink with a straw visible in the foreground. The setting appears to be a restaurant or cafe with a wooden table.

My cousin loves this spot and brought me along -- now I see why! She swears by the eggs Benedict and says it never fails her. I had a bite and for my first time trying eggs Benedict, I genuinely enjoyed it too! Her kids ordered the "mini pancakes," which were definitely not mini but still super delicious. I got the breakfast sandwich, which was also really good -- hearty and flavorful. The only thing I wasn't crazy about were the potatoes; they could've used a bit more seasoning, but overall still a solid dish. The fruit on the side tasted super fresh, which I appreciated. I also ordered the strawberry mimosa (my first mimosa ever!) and it definitely tasted "strong" to me -- but that could just be because I'm not a mimosa drinker. Still glad I gave it a try! The vibe of the place is great, the owner was friendly, service was quick, and the whole experience was really enjoyable. Definitely would come back again!

Pigs in a Blanket with chicken apple sausage and over medium eggs. - A white round plate holds two large, rolled crepes dusted with powdered sugar, accompanied by a fried egg with a runny yolk and a sprig of parsley. The plate is on a wooden table, with a glass of water and another dish visible in the background, indicating a breakfast setting at a restaurant.

I wish they had good protein and veggies options without pork... When busy order ASAP, and pay ASAP... They take a while to get your order and get ur food and close you out... Their coffee is too dark, they should upgrade to better quality coffee to Mr Espresso. I might be back to give them another try. Maybe steak and eggs next time for me and crepes to finish! Cozy ambiance though!

Solano Junction was a mostly good experience for us. Our food was very good. Things were cooked well and seasoned well and the portions were plenty reasonable. Our server was a really nice guy who worked hard to make sure we had everything we wanted or asked about. The only part I wasn't too keen on (as a first timer there) was the speed of service and lack of space. Our group sat outside (and battled with a Yellowjacket or two regularly) and were pretty cramped for space. Inside wasn't any more spacious. And even for our initial drink order things were slooow to happen - such that one of our party was just standing up to go ask "can we at least have our drinks?" and I was jokingly asking a friend "are they still working on killing the cow to cook?" Aside from that everything was good. So what I learned is Solano Junction is for two people, maybe four. And don't be in a hurry (not that we were) because you'll be there for a bit. But everything will taste really good.

Love this place! We went here on a Sunday morning and ordered the eggs Benedict and the Grand Canyon scramble. Both were delicious and filling! Service was friendly and timely. Will be back for sure.

A large chocolate pancake is presented in a brown takeout box, topped with sliced strawberries and blueberries. The pancake appears cooked with a slightly uneven surface, and the berries are scattered around the top and edges, adding color and fruit flavor to the dish.

Just got the multigrain pancakes. I ordered them with blueberries, but the blueberries were ON TOP, not in the pancakes. (this option was alongside chocolate chips, etc, so I assumed they be in them.) They are WAY too thick-- I would never order these again. They are like 1/2 inch to 1 inch thick-- more like a piece of cake or bread. Too heavy--Yuck! If they can make the batter more light and fluffy like a regular pancake, they'd be great. As is, I regret my purchase. :-(

Is there parking near by? Is it easy to park on the street?

Yes please. We are in front of Safeway and on the street plus we have some parking garage as well. Thank you

Do they require proof of vaccination for indoor dining (hoping the answer is yes)?

We are following the county’s guidelines, the Alameda county hasn’t enforced vaccination guidelines only masking requirements. Our guests are mostly local and Albany city is more than 90% vaccinated.

Mounted, taxidermied, presiding over the room with the glassy authority of creatures who didn't expect to end up in a bar in Albany but have made their peace with it. I've been once. Midweek happy hour. This is the most honest way to evaluate a bar -- no weekend crowd to inflate the energy, no event to justify the turnout, just the place and whoever shows up on a Tuesday because they want to be there. The happy hour is good. The bartender was gregarious and present and seemed to actually like the job, which sounds like a low bar until you've spent enough time on the other side of it. The regulars were friendly in the East Bay way, which is to say they talked to us without needing anything from us, offered opinions on what to drink, and went back to their conversations. There's an outdoor space for when you want sky. I've driven past since and seen it packed. I was glad. Nothing crazy. But then my daughter noticed that the chicken in her Fattoush salad was a bit raw in the middle. She cut open all the pieces she still had on her plate, and a couple were the same. We called the server over and informed her that the chicken was undercooked. She took the salad to the kitchen to fix the problem. A couple of minutes later, she came back with her salad and said her chicken would be done in a bit. I think we were in shock. Never in my 57 years of life/30 years in the food industry have I ever seen a restaurant take the food off a plate that had bites taken out of it, salad that had been halfway consumed, PUT THE CHICKEN BACK ON THE GRILL, AND RE-SERVED THE SALAD TO THE CUSTOMER. We didn't quite know what to do. When she came back with the recooked chicken, we knew it was the same pieces because they were all cut in half as before. In hindsight, should we have called over the manager? Probably. He probably would have had the salad redone, which would have taken more time than we had. Did it take away the fact that they recooked half-eaten chicken on the grill and re-served the same salad? No. This is clearly a major health code violation. Then, when they cleared our plates, the server said to us, "You didn't want dessert, did you?" That was the icing on the un-ordered cake for us. So disappointing. Food was pretty tasteless, and service was... very odd. I think we're done with Zaytoon.

I've been coming here a bit more regularly, lately - more visits in the last year compared to the previous decade, in fact. Now I wonder what I was waiting for. According to the East Bay Express, Schmidt's Pub is "basically your living room, but better" - that does sum it up, except that very few of us have living rooms anything like this, with a cozy fireplace surrounded by comfy armchairs and rustic tables beside sunny windows. Not many of us have living rooms with Old Speckled Hen on tap, or populated with an entertaining parade of quirky folk and friendly dogs. If the people and dogs are not entertaining enough then pick up a copy of Calvin and Hobbes or A History of Clay Pipes (okay, I made that one up) and have a little retreat with a pint. 4/5 Green Stars for social and environmental impact, based on these factors: * Beer on tap (transported in reusable kegs) has a much lower footprint compared to bottles or cans. * Allows you to bring your own food, which is good for folk like vegans who are often more comfortable with BYO. * The snacks available at the counter could be a bit more Berkeley (or Albany)! They were mostly from big corps - Lays chips (PepsiCo) and chocolate bars from Mars. Would be nice to see a more imaginative/ethical selection. * A great community space with an inclusive atmosphere. Schmidt's is home to many groups (e.g., knitting) and provides a second family for many, some who send postcards from their trips! * Finally, we shouldn't underestimate the importance of having a place to slow down, reflect and connect with each other a little. In that respect, Schmidt's Pub is worth its weight in gold.

The meatball is sliced so the sandwich is on the thin side. Overall, the nice gooey cheese, grilled garlic roll and meatball created a pretty good sandwich. They have a good menu with pizzas, sandwiches and salads. I plan to drop in again but will try the pizza and see if it is as good as the sandwiches. If you order take-out, you need to walk down the side of the building to the take-out sign and enter that door. The take-out counter is right inside the side door.
