Last time I visited Tacos Sinaloa was in 2025. I ordered a carne asada burrito, and was left somewhat dissatisfied. I'd thought the place had lost its touch, but maybe it was just an off day. Today in May of 2026 I've managed to visit while it's a slow day, and I was pleasantly satisfied with my food. I ordered a Carnitas burrito, and it was just as delicious as I'd remembered it one decade ago. While I was eating the first half of my burrito I was thinking "this is good, but burritos are good.. is it better than other burritos I've had, and why?" Something is different about burritos at Tacos Sinaloa, the food reflects that of some regional tacos trucks scattered throughout the East bay, but they're very distinct in how well they're capable of doing this style of Mexican food. As I said earlier- burritos are good. I think they are good because everything tastes good together, but not all burritos are created equal. The first thing that stood out to me about my burrito was the tortilla. It's not your standard tortilla, and it's nothing extravagant, but it seemed intentional. The tortilla is softer, thinner, and it holds up, but it's not chewy. It's there and it soaks up the oils and it doesn't take away from anything. In my experience, a bad tortilla can make a burrito less enjoyable. This tortilla adds in that it's barely there and it's pleasant because it soaks up the flavors without detracting. On the insides, the beans and rice can give or take away depending on where you get your burrito from. At Tacos Sinaloa on this particular day, the beans and rice did not take away from the burrito. The pinto beans were plum and creamy, and tasted like pintos. No nonsense- they added because they didn't subtract, I could go on about grainy beans or starchy over seasoned bean liquid, but NONE OF THAT HERE. The rice had perfect texture. It almost like 'al dente', but not in a chewy way, it had just enough rice texture and didn't get in the way of the other ingredients. It was mildly seasoned with your classic Mexican rice (aromatic tomato broth like flavor). No nonsense, no unnecessary spices, not over saturated in liquid, or turned to mush. Just good simply season rice. Cheese and sour cream- Salty Mexican cheese, presumably Oaxaca or something similar. Adds little salty flavor explosions throughout the burrito. Sour cream, added tangy acidity that cuts through the fatty ness making it taste more lively. Of coarse, the lovely creaminess. If you're not having your burrito with these I'm very sorry for you. The star of the show- The Carnitas here is just done right. It's not over seasoned with anything, it just tastes like melty delicious braised pork shoulder, then fried to accentuate it with crispy mallard bits that surprise you throughout the burrito. Towards the end of my experience I came to the conclusion that what makes a Tacos Sinaloa burrito good is that its ingredients forward- each ingredient tastes good on its own, and that can't be said for all burritos. It's not a burrito for the sake of being a burrito. All the ingredients seem intentionally chosen so that none get in the way of one another. I want to say they make the meat the star of the show, but even if you were to have a bean and rice and cheese + sour crème burrito here it would be an exceptional burrito, which is a testament to their culinary philosophy. Last but not least- yes they have salsa, and of coarse it's good, and I love that they give lemon slices with your food - it's another small intentional detail that they offer lemon instead of lime. Carnitas burrito 5/5. Sinaloa overall 4/5 because of inconsistency. read more

After two years on the East Coast, I had a late-night craving for some West Coast tacos. We headed to Sinaloa in Berkeley. The place was full of UC students, and the college town atmosphere was alive. I wanted to order a super burrito, but the sweet lady taking my order suggested a regular one would be enough. I'm glad I took her advice. The regular burrito was more than enough, and the carne asada was incredibly tasty. My wife enjoyed her chicken tacos. We enjoyed the late night dining experience. Tacos Sinaloa changed the game for me when it comes to tacos. Tacos were not something I often craved until I finally tried the carnitas tacos from Tacos Sinaloa. They were crunchy and full of flavor. Their agua frescas, especially the pineapple flavor, were very refreshing. Every sip of the agua fresca and every bite of the tacos were very addicting. I always prefer getting tacos from taco trucks, but this place is an exception. The only downside is that the shop is quite small with very limited seating. I ordered a super burrito from this place on Doordash since there was a deal going on and I was pleasantly surprised with this giant burrito! We ordered a carna asada burrito and they didnt skimp out on the filling at all, there was a good chunk of meat in each bite and is definitely made to share. I split this burrito with someone and it lasted me two meals. It also came with some delicious pickled vegetables that paired well with the burrito. We met at the building for the morning session, then decided to find a nearby place to eat on our lunch break before returning. I've been sleeping on this place because I didn't like their Al pastor burrito I got years ago because it was all onion and not enough meat. I think I just don't like this particular al pastor. However, when it's done right, I really love their carne asada and crispy pork tacos. It's the right amount of fat and smokiness and a bit oily but nothing too bad. Ask for green salsa and avoid the red. The red salsa is weirdly thick like they put cornstarch. Chips are a little stale. My only complaint about this place is that it's inconsistent. I wish they had a location in San Francisco because these tacos are truly exceptional. I find myself daydreaming about them! My absolute favorite and go to is the Al Pastor taco - the flavors are just a party in your mouth. The meat is always perfectly seasoned, juicy, and tender, with a little kick that melts in your mouth. I usually order online for pickup since parking in the area is pretty limited, but it's completely worth it for these tacos. The experience, from the first bite to the last, is just that good. Unfortunately, the past Snackpass discounts do not exist, but there is a buy 4 get 1 taco free deal every Tuesday. The burrito bowl had a great texture, but the salsa was overwhelming compared to all the other flavors. However, the meat with the veggies packed a powerful flavor punch which was tasty and refreshing. The staff here are so sweet and all smiles every time. The wait is usually 10-15 minutes after Snackpassing unless its Tuesday or early evening. I love their tacos so much and I still recommend melting your own cheese on top to save. read more

This place has some of the best Al pastor I have ever had. It packs so much flavor, it hits you twice. The initial bite, and then the following flavor is outstanding. The agua de pina (pineapple agua fresca) is amazing. It's sweet, it's smooth, it's refreshing, it leaves you wanting more. I will say that because it's super sweet, I always add extra ice cubes or cold water to prolong the drink and also dilute it. Regardless of diluting it or not, this drink has me hooked and I may like it more than horchata just because of the refreshing factor. The salsas and sauces that come with the food are excellent and can be enjoyed with the chips or on the burrito or taco. The side condiments like the radish, carrots, onions, and lemons are a must. Everything mentioned above can be ordered as an ABC combo and for $17 not including tax, it is well worth it. Such an amazing deal: drink, burrito, chips and salsa, sign me up, multiple times!! It's a pretty small place and you can order at the register or on SnackPass to avoid the wait, but it is ready in like 10-15 minutes. It's super quick. There's some seating available, but it's more like a grab n go at this location. Ambiance is nice. Overall, this has turned into a regular rotation for me and I have already been multiple times. Bummed I didn't get any photos of the food, but it was so good there weren't any leftovers to take a picture of. I've catered from Tacos Sinaloa twice in the past year and they have not disappointed! I went with their build-your-own taco bar so people could put the fillings they liked for dinner. I had options for vegetarian, pastor (spicy pork), and asada (steak). They included all the fixings from spicy pickled jalapeños, pickled carrots, radishes, cilantro/onion, lemons, and more! I also ordered a large helping of chips/salsa/guacamole which was more than we needed. Got a few of their agua frescas which were a big hit (horchata & jamaica). They were also so helpful to get the food into my car for pick up and accommodating when I placed the order a few days in advance.
