Oh em gee!!! I've passed by this place a few times and decided to stop. Booyyyy am I glad that I did. Service was great! Food tasted even better and staff takes pride in their work. They even ensured I had enough salsa! The green salsa is my fav. I could buy a bottle of it! It was raining so I didn't sit and eat outside at the table provided. I ate back at home but was mad that I only got 4 tacos. I will certainly be back to try their surf and turf burrito!! read more

Believe the hype! I randomly stumbled upon this taco truck and noticed there were a few ppl waiting at a Smog station and decided I had to check it out. I looked on Yelp to see if it had reviews and was surprised to see so many 5-star reviews. I decided to give it a try and was so happy that I did. You know the tacos are going to be good when they use the small, real-corn (yellow ground corn) tortillas for their tacos. Ordered two fish tacos and two carne asada tacos. They were so good! I will definitely be coming back when in Berkeley near the San Pablo Park area. read more

Placed my order 2 burritos and a coke.Got there guy at the window threw the bag at me trying to rush me off.I look in the bag and it's only one burrito. As I'm checking he throws some cooked jalapeños at me continuing to rush me off as I call him out he checks his tablet and his excuse was the order didn't come through at the same time. Yum, street tacos are a little small but tasty! I had the carne asada, pastor, and lengua. All were good. Pastor might have been my favorite. My boyfriend had pollo, carne asada, and carnitas and he liked them all but I think he said the asada he liked the most. We were surprised to see that it was empty on a Friday night. Sadly they didn't have horchata that day. It was nice because the truck was located in a parking lot and there was a table set up. It was a cool breezy evening so the food got cold pretty quickly but I still found it really enjoyable. They kindly let us know they were closing and needed to set away the table soon, closing up half an hour earlier than the hours listed (6:30pm instead of 7pm). read more

It was my first time going here and my experience was horrible... I was charged $30 for 1 torta and 3 tacos. He told me $30 and I ended up getting charge $33.08 without them telling me they where gonna charge me to pay with card so I called to complain and he said they charge a $3.08 fee to pay with card which is insane. I asked what meats they had when ordering and he gave me an attitude saying if I can't see it on the menu.When I got my order I asked for extra salsa and he said he already gave me 3-5 with an attitude I was holding the bag and he threw them inside the bag with a really bad attitude. I'm always on the lookout for a solid burrito at the $10 price point. I saw they had a veggie burrito for $10 and a super for $12. When i saw that the regular veggie came with avocado I hastily pulled the trigger. While I was waiting for my burrito to arrive I decided to read the fine print. The regular burritos here don't come with cheese or sour cream so it's like a vegan burrito. I don't immediately panic. "This could still work" I say to myself. And short story short it very much did! A very excellent delicious hot and possibly vegan burrito. The generous amount of avocado certainly helped. Highly recommend though if you don't like onions this might not work for you. read more

Hands down come here for the fish tacos; topped with avocado, tomato and lettuce this was my favorite tacos that I ordered. I also ordered chorizo taco and it was pretty greasy, the texture was like baby food this was definitely not for me. El Manantial has moved to south Berkeley as of early November. It's now in the parking lot of the smog check at the corner of San Pablo and Burnett, across the street from JFK university. Excellent prices, delicious food, served with a smile. I'm so happy to have a taco truck within walking distance of San Pablo park!! read more

Was driving by this place and decided to finally pay them a visit. I love tacos and these didn't disappoint. Could have used a bit more meat and less grease on the tortillas but nonetheless they were worth the $16. I gave 3 stars because these are good tacos for the value but not quite the 4-5 star experience/quality. Hand made tortillas and higher quality meats would have put them over the 4 stars. I'm pretty picky about my tacos and this truck always has excellent food, incredibly fast delicious peppers a onions on the sides. Really a shockingly good taco truck especially for Berkeley- this stands up to any of my usual East Oakland haunts. Great place!! read more

El Managial Tacos is located on a Mobil gas station site. no parking available so patrons park whereever they can. 0fferings: typical menu-tacos, burritos, tortas?, etc. prices reasonable since there are no compartive standards to judge EL by. fresh is their premier selling point. wondering when they start counting the freshness. when it is frozen or when the meat is defrosted? eats: lenqua taco (2.5) asada taco (2) -lots of grilled meat, little meat taste. meat obviously previously frozen. onions, jalepenos part of ensemble, no chips. lime slice yes. 3.5 stars take outs: -good value, quality is questionable since meat previously frozen, not from fresh meat. little meat taste, grilling enhaces a little meat flavoring. -wait time long since orders grilled to order. would passed next time. read more

I was driving down San Pablo Ave., getting ready to go see a friend, and I was HANGRY!!! I was actually bringing a sick friend some Chinese, but I was so starved, when I saw the truck I didn't think, I just stopped. I had never tried their food but I wasn't being picky at the time. I ordered a cabeza super taco... took to promptly to my car and SCARFED it down. Holy crap!!! WHAT AN AWESOME TACO!!!! The meat was cooked and seasoned perfectly, there was cheese and sour cream (I love dairy), great salsa, and the stickiness of the collagen was still on my lips and fingers after the taco was devoured... I immediately wanted like FIVE more!! Alas, I had to tend to my sick friend. I ate some extremely substandard Chinese with my friend while wishing I had more tacos instead. So, the VERY NEXT DAY, I made a point to visit this truck again, and I got two cabeza tacos and a corn quesadilla. It was even better than I remembered, and the accompaniments were lovely, generous with the radish and very well charred peppers. This is gonna be my go-to spot for tacos when I'm on San Pablo. This is as good as taco trucks get! You guys are gonna be seeing a lot more of this gal! read more

I was so excited to try this place, as it's 2 blocks away from my place and I've passed by it so many times. Well today I finally got to try but can't be more more of disappointment than what it was. Soggy tacos and meat smells bad with no flavor. Added to This the attitude of the older guy working in this truck. Very rude and not friendly. I will never be coming to this place again. Located in the 76 parking lot, El Manantial Tacos serves up delicious food at a very affordable price. This place is cash only. Tacos are $1.50 and burritos are $6.00. There's also horchata, but it's not listed on the menu that's taped on the truck so ask for it. Chips are served with the burrito. The servings are quite generous so you definitely get more than your money's worth. I came during lunch time and with 3 people ahead of me, I probably waited 10 - 15 minutes for my food. read more

There is a disturbing trend among many taco trucks these days--underseasoned meat that relies solely on their salsa to give any flavor. El Manantial falls into that category. Don't know why this is happening. Anyway, the meat was underseasoned and the al pastor was dry. Two stars for the nice customer service and the tasty salsas. Was super hungry while I was with some friends in Berkeley, and was craving some tacos! My first time, guy was super sweet and kind. Food was amazing, three tacos and fully loaded hit the spot. I'm not going to lie, I didn't come there for a long time because of the review that said the meat wasn't seasoned, but I decided to give it a try today and wow!!! Don't listen to the bad reviews, this is a really good deal for some delicious food. In my experience, the Bay Area food scene isn't super... seasoned. But this place was perfect. Many friends and I agree this is the best Mexican food in the East Bay. Consistent, always fresh, great prices for generous servings, fast service, one can't ask for more than that. Nicest folks, too! And if you're one of those who is missing SoCal Mexican food, this place is definitely going to offer the closest fix to filling that void. I've been craving tacos for the past week (and I mean actual tacos, not the tacos you buy at some "taqueria" in north berkeley or in rockridge) so me and the boo decided to drive a few streets down to this little trailer. This place does NOT disappoint! The service is super friendly and the tacos have so much flavor. Loved that the tacos came fully prepared with goodies like radishes, grilled onions and jalapeños. The rice and beans were very disappointing. Bland and the cheese on the beans was cold, stiff, and clumped. Vegetarian burrito - Delicious! No complaints. Platanos - Served over refried beans with a super unappetizing sauce splashed on top. The taste was just okay but I've had better. Flan - definitely a different texture than the average flan. Overall, it wasn't something to drive home about but it was cool. Overall, the lunch wasn't bad but it wasn't great nor was ti worth almost $80. I may come back to try the tacos, which seem to be a top seller, but I'll hold off on anything else.

When they do take your order, both come across short and irritated, almost like you're inconveniencing them by being there. Then you pay and there's usually no "thank you" or anything. The whole interaction gives off a "why are you here?" I'm not asking these girls to throw me a welcome party, but damn basic hospitality shouldn't be this difficult. When you're the first people customers interact with, your attitude represents the restaurant. At this point, the food has more warmth and personality than the two people standing at the register. And I want to make it clear that I'm specifically talking about my experiences with these two cashiers, because the food itself is DELICIOUS. Whoever is cooking in the back deserves their flowers. It's honestly unfortunate that such good food is being paired with front-counter service that repeatedly makes me reconsider coming back. Hopefully management addresses the issue because I genuinely enjoy eating here. Customers shouldn't feel like they're bothering the employees just for walking in and placing an order.
