Tacos El Rulas is parked in a parking lot nearby KC BBQ. tacos aren't the go to eats here. there's plenty of other specialities. saw an al pastor spit later in window. offerings: tacos, burritos, queso taco/burrito, quesadillas, "sandwiches", sopes, huaraches, mulitas, beverages. eats: lengua/birra taco @2.50 -generous portion of proteins, moist juicy beef brisket, half-moist lengua. -garishes of radish, jalepeno, green onions, onions, cilantro. *would order one of the specialities next time. -couldn't check in as food truck location is listed as richmond.

I love that there are more taco trucks where I live. This place was parked in Yen's Auto, which is located across the street from the Dollar Tree. I ordered an asada burrito and two tacos (pollo and lengua). The lengua taco was probably my favorite of the three. Pros: -they accept credit cards -staff were friendly and properly wore their masks -they gave me complimentary chips and dip and a Chile lollipop -tacos come with a generous portion of meat -their grilled pepper and onion were so good -they have a bunch of snacks, chips and drinks that you can also purchase Cons: -n/a

    Taco al pastor - excellent!

Excellent tacos! I already had lunch waiting for me at home but I have passed by this food truck many many times and decided now was the opportune time to try one. I pulled into the open space near the truck and checked out what they had to offer. It all looked great but would it taste great? FOOD: The short answer is yes! Because I had lunch available, I only got the one taco. But the tortillas were nice and soft and full of flavor, and the meat is tender and also packed with umami. They had a couple of things on the menu I'd never heard of but want to try and many different combos of meat and dishes. Quesabirria, sopes, tortas, etc. interestingly, they do not have any combo plates or side dishes so if you were looking for beans and rice, they don't have it here. If they do, it wasn't on their menu at all. For that reason, I gave them one last star because the food was really tasty. SERVICE: Quick and friendly. Definitely worthwhile. Packaged nicely and located in a place where you can actually stop and park your car! COST: Very reasonable. I will cert be back to try even more things off their menu.

The food rules at Tacos El Rulas! Located in the parking lot of two separate businesses, an auto shop and smog shop on the corner of Gilman Street and San Pablo Avenue near the border of Albany and Berkeley, California, Tacos El Rulas is a Mexican food truck from father and daughter duo of Angeles and Raul Rodriguez that specializes in traditional Mexican takeout dishes sold at affordable price points along with some modern takes on a number of dishes from Birria tacos to Hawaiian-style Mexican sandwiches. After starting over four years ago parking at locations in Richmond, Tacos El Rulas really hit its stride when they moved to their current location in late 2020 across the street from Tokyo Fish Market and a Dollar Tree. It is here that Tacos El Rulas received additional buzz thanks to an article praising the Rodriguez's bringing authentic cuisine to this neighborhood in Northwest Berkeley. This is why I have wanted to come here for quite some time as the article had me intrigued and their location was so easily accessible from a quick drive from the Gilman Street exit off of Interstate 80 on the weekday afternoon that I decided to get lunch for myself and others back home. Thankfully there was a metered parking space in front of their truck that I managed to snag so I quickly perused their menu and ordered as by the time I arrived no customers were present but by the time I left there were plenty of customers waiting for their orders. The menu at Tacos El Rulas is broken up into categories including their Soft Tacos with various options for fillings, Classics, Sandwiches, Handmade Fare and Beverages & Snacks. The first menu item I decided to order was their Burrito from the Classics section of their menu, with my choice of a Carne Asada filling, rice, beans, onion, cilantro, hot sauce wrapped in a flour tortilla. I also decided to order a La Torta from their Sandwiches section of their menu, with my choice of Carnitas, which is slow cooked pork, lettuce, tomato, onion, avocado, melted cheese, queso fresco, mayonnaise, and pickled jalapenos served on a toasted white bun. And since I was here and decided to make my journey here well worth my time with multiple meals, I decided to order a Mulita from their Handmade Fare section of their menu, which was a taco sandwich with two handmade corn masa tortillas with cheese and my choice of Pastor pork filling, which is spit-roasted adobo pork and pineapple. I really wanted to order a Horchata drink from their Beverage menu but owner Raul who took my order let me know that they were out of that drink and none of their bottled and canned drinks that were on ice in front of their truck didn't intrigue me. All told my meal cost 26 dollars before tip, which wasn't too bad of a price point considering how much food I received this afternoon. It took about ten minutes for my food to be freshly prepared from both of the Rodriguez's, and I was certainly surprised how large my burrito and sandwich were in size. When I got home with my meal, I decided to feast on my Mulita first and it was a tasty if somewhat unremarkable treat, but it was also filling lunchtime meal. I decided to save my burrito and sandwich for lunch on successive future days and was not disappointed as they were both easily sharable and filled with plenty of savory ingredients that makes me love freshly prepared Mexican cuisine. Perhaps the real surprise was my La Torta as I wasn't expecting anything quite that large and for the cost of 11 dollars is a real steal. With the times we are living in, prices have gone up one dollar for a number of dishes at Tacos El Rulas, including my burrito and sandwich. But now I can't wait to come back and try their signature tacos, especially their Birria Taco, their Cubano Sandwich which adds ham, chorizo and Milanese breaded steak to their signature Torta, and their Huaraches which is an oval handmade grilled corn masa base topped with a filling of my choice and all of their fresh fixings including a cactus salad. Talk about authentic! And at Tacos El Rulas you're getting all of that plus so much more. Here's to hoping their reign on this nondescript corner of Berkeley is a long and fruitful one for Tacos El Rulas, with the quality and quantity of their dishes, they have met the hype and then some in my humble opinion!

Gigantic Tort Cubana So big and delicious that might make 2 large meals! For $13? Best tasty deal in town

Excelente Great food at very reasonable price and conveniently located Can't beat the prices And great variety for a taco truck!

Yum! I saw reviews on Nextdoor about this Taco truck and had to try it! Burritos for $9 (with chips) great deal! Quesadilla for $9 (side salad and sour cream) $9. Got the chicken burrito and carnitas quesadilla (there was a crunch in the carnitas). We got there on around 1:45pm on Saturday (no line). This may be our goto burrito place (we used to go to the ones on Solano Avenue). This Taco truck is located in the parking lot of Yen's garage, so parking on the side streets or in Yen's little parking lot.

Unassuming in appearance but appropriately named because the food is exceptional. Stopped by for lunch and was happy to try her out. Bought a carnitas burrito, and lengua, cabeza, and carne asada tacos. Everything was fresh and delicious. Will definitely go back again.

A taco truck with a Mexico City twist and flavor. ⁣⁣ I found a hidden taco truck in San Pablo Ave near Gilman in #Berkeley. I stopped by and the first thing I saw was a poster of tortas cubanas. That grab my attention. As I looked through the menu I saw something that reminded me of a taco spot in Mexico City's El Zocalo -- . A moment of nostalgia came through me.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I immediately placed a tinga quesadilla order. As I was ordering, I saw un de al pastor -- a rear thing around this area. So of course I had to order some tacos al pastor. I added some tacos de carnitas just to see how they compare to other places.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I must say that the quesadilla de tinga, made with a hand made tortilla, takes the . The al pastor tacos had great seasoning and well cooked, and the carnitas meat was nicely fried, juicy and cut in nice chucks. They didn't disappoint.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I recommend paying this taco truck a visit. ⁣⁣ -⁣⁣ -⁣⁣ #mexicanfood #tacos #tacotruck #foodie #bayarea #distritofederal #DF #mexico #gilman #alpastor #carnitas #quesadillas #delicious

Recommended, will be back, and the food was great!…read more Sopes just might be my favorite Mexican dish, so I ordered the Sopes plate with carne asada, hot chocolate because it's been extremely chilly as of late, and a strawberry margarita. Hot and cold drinks together are the best of both worlds. It could be snowing outside and I'd still get a cold beverage. Love the clay mugs the hot chocolate came in. It kept hot while I focused on my marg. I thought I'd be able to body my plate because i was so hungry, but I ended up taking a sope home for leftovers, which was just as delicious the next day. Something really nice happened here. Apparently my margarita tasted too much like lime to who I assume is the owner, and he came by my table with another margarita on the house. That was thoughtful and something my friend and I really appreciated because who doesn't like a free drink? But seriously, it's the customer service behind serving something up to a standard that one feels confident in that really stood out. This looks like a popular spot. There were a couple people inside when I arrived, and several pick up orders. I love this area, or rather this small strip of restaurants and other stores along Solano Avenue.

I've always loved their fish tacos, which to me are better than any I've ever had in SoCal, including San Diego! Like their other permanent locations, here you will also find tacos with various fillings, lunch plates and other items. Walk on in and you'll find an airy clean open interior with high ceilings and plenty of seating and tables all around. Scan the laminated paper menu at the counter. The menu isn't big, but it's rather focused. No burritos here, just tacos, sandwiches (tortas) and big plates! Vegetarian/Vegan? There are several tofu-based offerings and a bigger salad too. Order up at the counter, grab a pager, find a seat, enjoy the Latin music over the speakers and before you know it, your order is presented before you. Trying to stay "healthy", I decided against my all-time favorite Baja fish tacos, and ordered the Pollo de Cholita plate. With this you get a big boneless chicken thigh marinated with herbs and mild spices with white rice, beans (black or pinto), a side salad of fresh mixed greens and three delicious fried plantains. The chicken thigh is flattened thin, but was totally moist and tender and most importantly flavorful and not overly marinated on the tongue. The rice with black beans and mixed greens in a light vinaigrette were the perfect neutral companion to the chicken, with the plantains providing a lightly fried sweet contrast and finish to the meal.. Suffice it to say, I loved this dish, and look forward to coming back!

It also turned out to be the priciest plate on the menu, the $14.65 Pollo de Cholita. I didn't regret my selection. It centered on a flattened boneless chicken thigh marinated in herbs & spices and grilled. It was surrounded by rice covered in pinto beans, a mixed green salad, and grilled plantains (Photo 7).
