First time here and the food was okay, but the service was terrible. The cashier was rude and got upset when I asked to switch salsa.

I came here for the first time and ordered three tacos (asada, chorizo, and suadero). The food was okay, but the service was terrible. The cashier was rude, more focused on gossiping than helping, and got upset when I asked to switch red salsa for green. As a first-time customer, I expected better.

two pastors, one cabeza and suadero

Having read in a news article about the Richmond "tacos corridor" or 23rd Street, we decided to venture forth and tried out a few places, as we lived in Richmond so this is literally like in our back yard. First tacqueria we tried was Tacos La Raza. Tucked in a corner of the parking lot of the La Raza Market, this place has a few tables outside, but otherwise it is mainly take-out. They are known for unusual meats, so for our first try we ordered cabeza (meat from cow head), and suadero (rose meat, or the smooth muscle between the cow shoulder and belly), in additional to our usual- al pastor. The pastor was very good. The marinated pork was juicy, just chewy and fatty enough, and topped with a spicy salsa roja. The cabeza was chunky and meaty, full of flavor and also topped with the salsa roja. The Suadero was like a braised brisket, very tender, and very tasty with either the red or green salsa that were provided on the sides. The parking lot gets full by noon with people shopping at the market, so get there early or you will be circling around the blocks looking for parking.

Okay, average at best! I used to come here a lot but they've been slipping the last few times. The burritos are generally good and you can't go wrong with steak. However the last few times I came here, the meat on the al pastor tacos was super fatty and the tortillas were dry. Also be aware, they charge for extra salsa! But there is still some good, plenty of parking and they're always quick. Also you can't beat their price of $2 tacos.

Best tacos in Richmond. If you like spicy food they make the tacos perfect for you. Overall the food is just delicious and the service is always great! A gem fr

3 tacos de alpastor (with the chile tatemado and salsa roja I mentioned) my green grilled onions didn't make it on the picture.

A hole in the wall! Their alpastor is . Their salsa roja and grilled cebollitas con Chile tatemado on the side are a bonus. I came across this place from a cashier at a taqueria in San Francisco. Lol to say the least. Definitely a local spot for me.

This place is hella good. Great customer service. 2.50 a taco for good meat. All around Thats great. I got one taco de al pastor and one taco de asada. I'd say the asada is better. The sauce they put on it is really good and not too spicy for a gringa like me.

Pastor tacos NEVER miss for me! This is my go to taco place hands down. Can't say the same for the asada burrito I had once. I only come here for the tacos.

Food is usually good here. However, the last 2-3 times I've visited our orders have came out incorrectly. Asked for 2 tacos de lengua PLAIN and received something differently. Asked for a burrito de carne Asada con crema received a dry ass burrito.

Excellent Mexican Food in a pleasant cozy venue. Friendly service, but you have to hunt them down…read moreto refill our water glasses. IN THE CHIPS: Kicking things off, the Chips and Salsa are now $3.85 for an order, but they were worth the money - light and airy, and the salsa just barely had a hint of heat to it. Just perfect. (5/5) THE BEANS.. Perusing the menu, whatever plate you order, you can specify the kind of beans you want (black beans, pinto beans, refried beans). I chose the black beans, but specified "no cheese" on them in a semi-futile attempt to stay on the healthy side. =) SEAFOOD TACOS I decided on the Seafood Taco Platter, where you get one shrimp taco and a fish taco along with a big side of beans and lots of rice. Each taco comes with a double layer of corn tortillas with grilled shrimp, or fish topped by shredded cabbage drizzled with a lime aioli. Instead of deep fried, the shrimp and fish on each taco were grilled to perfection, instead of deep fried. The fish filet was diced and stir-fried with a wonderful aroma. Instead of making a mess, I decided just to eat my taco by slicing and dicing it from the plate. Super good! (5/5) One of my dining partners had the mole here a year ago and loved it, so now that he was back in town, he made this place a prime objective for his visit again to the Bay! Yeah.. I'd tend to agree.. Worth coming back.

Our food was beyond lukewarm. They forgot my child's main dish. They rushed an order of grilled chicken & and it tasted nasty. You could either taste the chicken juice or it was spoiled chicken. The chicken mole had maybe half a breast of chicken. The entire plate was random chilly pepper/ pickled onion. Along with my fajitas. Chicken was decent but had random veggies. Grilled asparagus/ pickled radish/ the basic onion/ bell pepper. No salad, no Guac, no sour cream. Back to the service- we returned the Chicken only to get $5 off the bill. The server was nice but wasn't attentive, never had came back to check on us. I had to go up and ask for the bill. Idk the service and food was horrible. The food had no season and didn't taste like anything. Don't recommend ever

It was more than enough food but we just couldn't stop eating because of how delicious it was! The sweet corn tamale was like a dessert, but paired with the tang and salt of the sour cream and cotija cheese it became a refreshing sweet and salty bite. It was a traditional corn dough and the texture was insanely soft, unlike most of the dry tamales I have had before. The pache tamale was truly the star. I had no idea what I was ordering, but I'm so glad that I managed to get this item in my order. The masa is made with potatoes instead of corn which gives it a smooth and melt in your mouth texture and a savory, addictive flavor. The pork inside is juicy and tender. Each bite is complete with the tangy pickled onions. The chuchitos were like the traditional Mexican tamales I am used to, with corn masa and stuffed with flavor and juicy chicken. The tamales are doused in a delectable red sauce and topped with cotija, sour cream, and more pickled onions. They were delightful. The garnachas were definitely the other star of this order. I had never had tostadas like them before, with flavorful and juicy chopped meat, salsa, and cotija. They are served with pickled veggies to add spice and tang, but what surprised me the most was the sautéed cabbage placed on top of each garnacha. The cabbage was so flavorful and soft, and despite all of the other sources of flavor it made itself known. The chile relleno plato was unlike what I am used to. Often, the chile rellenos my family eats are poblano peppers stuffed with oaxacan cheese, these were not that at all. In a way, this dish resembled more of a stuffed bell pepper, with a red pepper filled with chopped meat and veggies. I did get a piece of cartilage which made me a little wary when taking a bite but it was so delicious I couldn't help myself. The black beans it came with were flavorful and the dressing of the salad was amazing and reminiscent of a green goddess dressing. The service was amazing. The people were sweet and accommodating. I also really enjoyed the ambience even though I did order pick up. There are murals and bright colors lining all of the walls, giving the place a welcoming and fun vibe. Overall, with the amazing food, sweet faculty, and beautiful setting, it is impossible to go to this place and not feel an immediate lift in mood.
