Just had the chicharron tacos, they were absolutely delicious. I highly suggest you try them.

Great food quick and simple to order . Everytime I'm working in Richmond I come to this place . Private parking lot just don't ask for a cup of ice because it's $1.00 for the cup .

Carnitas wet burrito

Taco truck permanently parked in the grocery store parking lot. Ordered a the carnitas burrito "wet" with everything on it and hot salsa on the side. The serving size was generous and reasonably priced ($12 burrito). Flavor was good and the hot salsa definitely packed some fire. The ratio of carnitas to rice was pretty even. The carnitas had good flavor and a nice, slightly crisped texture. My only disappointment was the carnitas were lost amidst all the other fillers in the burrito. Next time I will get their tacos so the meat can be the star of the show!

Pastor Tacos

Not the best but certainly not the worst. Wasn't all that impressed with the Quesabirria but it was still edible and had SOME flavor. Also a good price at $13.75 for three. I'd say keep it simple, the regular tacos were good. Liked the al pastor tacos the most. Also loved the spicy salsa. Super flavorful and perfect if you like a little kick to it.

Asada burrito no frijoles, crema or cebolla

We're new to the neighborhood and are in search of the best place for everything. This place has won our best burrito award so far! The first time we got tacos, they're really good but for some reason the burrito just hits different. I like to add avocado but without is just as good! The one downfall is their birria is a little on the fattier side which I'm pretty picky about. If you don't mind though the flavor is bomb!! I also like their mulitas! Very tiny but a perfect sized snack when I'm not too hungry!

food is always good and all the ingredients are fresh, wish they did have spicer salsas though

Chicken torta w/ jalapeños

First off, let me say that my Torta was delicious!!! I also had an Horchata & it was great. I found this food truck just searching for tacos & saw great reviews. I travel a lot and love to try Tortas at different food trucks. They always seem to taste authentic and feel I like I'm at home. I'm happy I tried them out, if I'm ever in Richmond again, I'm eating here again! 10/10, seriously... I highly recommend.

I thought I had discovered their best offering (tacos y chicharon) but I was wrong - quesabirrias all the way!

The menu offers a good variety of Mexican inspired dishes, from tacos and birria ramen and burritos. Everything we tried had great flavor and was clearly made fresh. The sauces, seasoning and overall balance of the dishes were definitely the highlight of the meal. We ordered quite a few items including quesabirria, shrimp tacos, a burrito and birria ramen. The shrimp tacos were especially flavorful, topped with a creamy sauce that paired really well with the shrimp. The quesabirria tacos also had that nice crispy texture with the rich birria flavor that people look for. The restaurant itself is clean, organized and well set up, with outdoor seating available which is nice on a sunny day. It has a relaxed vibe where you can sit down with friends and enjoy your food without feeling rushed. The only thing I noticed across several of the dishes was that the portions of meat felt a little light compared to the tortilla or toppings. The flavor is absolutely there, but a slightly more generous portion of meat would make these dishes even better. Overall, solid spot with great flavor and a fun menu. With just a little more generosity on the protein portions, this place could easily be a standout taco spot.

Believe me, I've been to MANY other burrito places around and most all of them just give you a beans and rice burrito with a tiny bit of meat. This place at least gives you an expected amount of meat in your burrito. The location could be considered 'hole in the wall' but that does not bother me and I like to support local small businesses. I will be back here!

I grabbed a burrito here and ate it inside the movie theater with the red salsa and lemon, and it was so good I ate the entire thing. For context, I'm pretty petite and I usually can't finish a full burrito--but this one? I couldn't stop. It was that good. Super flavorful, satisfying, and just hit the spot in a way I wasn't expecting. At first, I thought it was a little pricey, but once you get the burrito, it makes sense. It's dense, filling, and honestly a big burrito--you're getting your money's worth. I've already been recommending this place to my friends, and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for genuinely good food. I'm excited to come back and try more items on the menu. So good. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in the East Bay.

I opted for a Super Burrito de Pollo at Don Rafa prior to their cutoff/closing time. Their burrito did not disappoint! I loved the way it was wrapped securely and grilled to perfection. Though this spot is known for their chicken, I didn't really experience anything unique about this wrapped meal. It was delicious and tasted how it should be, but I was hoping the "star" of this meal would be their chicken. I ate my burrito immediately and it was served at a decent temp. Perhaps, I'll give Don Rafa a 2nd chance and order a half (or whole chicken). The Birria Pizza looked appetizing as well. Don Rafa is located inside of the Food Barn Market and reminds me of a Latino version of a Pacific Supermarket. The restaurant appears somewhat modern, tidy and spacious, while the rest of the market area seems outdated.

The plaza the store is in is a little ghetto but not like fear for your life ghetto. The interior of the restaurant is like the typical Mexican restaurant, smells great as soon as you walk in, friendly Spanish speaking staff, and great food. The meat is flavorful, the consome compliments it so well, and enough cheese to keep the slice together. I wish they somehow were able to double up the tortilla so it was more firm so you could hold the slide like an actual piece of pizza. It gets a little messy but it's worth it

What made it even better: I met Tony, who came by and spent time sharing the story behind his cooking. I really appreciated the background, the humility, and how welcoming he was. However this dining room has no air conditioner and I was feeling like I was getting a heat stroke. The windows do not open. There's a small fan but I didn't feel the air. Best to take to go. The dining room is very small. My husband really enjoy his quesabirria. He said that there was a good amount of filling and strong good flavors. And since they ran out of tongue, they offered the beef cheek called cabeza. Surprisingly the cabeza was more tender than tongue. The tacos came with radishes and pickled onions. They have very good tasting homemade chips and one of the best salsas I've had in a restaurant. The red salsa is kind of spicy so it takes getting used to. The shrimp burrito 12.99 didn't have a lot of shrimp but didn't have a lot of cheese and sour cream. The flavor was good but I warned you that since the shrimp is coke with butter, this is the greasiest shrimp burrito you can possibly eat. The oil literally was coming out of the foil. So I think the lightest dish they have is their shrimp tacos which comes in a set of two for about 12.50. The shrimp tacos have vegetables in it and the shrimp is also cooked in butter as well. This place is very authentic so I have a feeling that they use lard in their beans. This is definitely not a place you would go if you were on a low fat diet. The restaurant plays very loud authentic Mexican music. I definitely recommend this restaurant if you want authentic food but definitely take it to go. Parking was not a problem. It's a quiet and clean neighborhood. Don't forget they take cash. No credit cards.
