I love this taco truck. I've been going for years, so delicious. Thanks for the great food.

What's left from the beef tacos I got less than 5 min ago. They were spicy & filling & just $2. And I just ate the other radish. Yum!

Just devoured 2 beef tacos I got less than 5 min ago. They were spicy & filling & just $2. Yum! And they are super nice. Next time I am hungry or hangry in Emeryville, I will come here again.

I felt a little bit the fool the fist time I tried Tacos El Rey... Me: "I'd like a steak super burrito please." Guy behind me in line: "3 fish tacos please" Girl behind him: "2 fish tacos please" The next lady: "2 fish tacos please" So today time I came prepared: "I'd like the fish tacos please!" They were delicious. $4 each, featuring super fresh flaky fish, two nice soft corn tortillas, and served with rice, tomato, cilantro, onion, salsa, sour cream, lettuce, guacamole, and cheese. You'll find Tacos El Rey parked almost every day next to Ironworks gym near the bottom of Ashby ave. They also park briefly at 8th and Parker from 10:00am to 11:30am on Wednesdays to serve the folks that work at Bayer Berkeley and the surrounding neighborhood. Fair warning: if there's no crowd, they might up and leave before 11:30. I've more than once shown up at 11:20 to find there's no tacos for me. Oh, that carne asada burrito? It was ok, the beef was kinda dry, and the flavor was decent, but it didn't even come close to my fav Berkeley burrito (Gordo's of course!).

Meh. Very OK food. They use cheap meat, their salsa / hot sauce lacks any refinement, and their beans are overcooked. Prices are high for a truck too. Good only if you are hungry.

My and my buddy have been looking for a good burrito joint around the eville area for the past week. We tried Juan's place and los canteros taqueria. Both didn't satisfy our desires for a dirty flavorful burrito. I mean dirty in the most endearing way possible. Coming to save us was the shiny silver Tacos El Rey Taco Truck. I've tried both the carne asada and al pastor super burrito. Hands down the al pastor burrito was superior. The meat is flavored well and it has that tiny kick to it that gives it those extra points. Best of all it was only $5.50. I probably would get extra salsa on the side for 50 cents next time. The truck isn't that easy to find. It's right by the bmw dealership. Funny thing was the dudes working at the dealership would drive the couple hundred feet they would need to in their golf carts to grab some food from the truck instead of walking. Nice, I would do that same, be lazy that is.

BEST tacos in Berkeley and maybe even Oakland. Had 2 pastor tacos and 2 lengua, yum-yum.

Tacos El Rey is my favorite taco truck in town! They are super friendly, the prices are good and the food is great. What more can you want? I especially like their Carnitas, Al Pastor and Chorizo.

Quesadilla with Meat: $7.50 Al Pastor (spicy pork). Delicious. Pretty pricey but I recommend it. Yum! Loaded with guacamole & sour cream. It's greasy so watch out for grease drippings trickling down your fingers. Jalapeño, lime, radishes and a few tortilla chips on the side. Taco: $1.50 Carne Asada. Regular taco. Small portion. Not bad for the price paid. Not the best but still good for my taste. Jalapeño, lime and radishes on the side. Overall, I definitely come back again. It was my first time checking out this food truck today. Will try the burrito next time.

Lunchtime at Tacos El Rey. Delicious!

The sauce was a simple garlic creme sauce with a touch of lemon, cilantro , onions and chili, but was not hot. The shrimp with garlic sauce was served with baby carrots and green rice. I hope they will make this a staple on their menu. It could easily be their signature dish. Cafe de Olla -had a splash of milk added, but normally it comes black. The coffee had a nice sweetness and you don't need to add sugar. PIPIAN TACOS Rotisserie Chicken or Pork Shoulder, Oaxacan Brown Mole Sauce with Red Chiles, Onion-Jalapeño Curtido If you like spicy , you will love this dish. The meat was covered with a spicy chil sauce that was absolutely delicious, but HOT. Interestingly, the dish had a small bowl of mole sauce that was not spicy and was a delicious dipping sauce for the taco. However the person who ordered this dish said she would ask to see if she could order the rotisserie chicken without the spicy sauce. She asked did ask for sour cream to tone down the heat. She thought the meat was very delicious, just too hot.

The space is beautifully designed, especially the extended dining area, and the staff operates with an impressive level of efficiency and expertise. We also had the pleasure of chatting with who I believe was a manager, who was incredibly kind and helpful in answering our questions. That extra level of hospitality really elevated the experience and left a lasting impression. P.S. The blue corn pancakes are amazing! BB

It was so large that I could make it last for 2 lunches. I get it this week (with chicken this time) and the bowl is a lot lighter, now with shredded cabbage and radishes to fill up the bowl and a lot less rice and beans and a bit less protein, with everything separated in the bowl instead of piled one top of one another. It will definitely not be enough for 2 lunches and is the same price as the last 2 times. I came here instead of Chipotle because it is a local business and the flavors are better. I am not sure I'll be getting a bowl here again, unless they go back to their original formula. Bummer.

They also gave me an agua fresca to make up for the short wait, which I really appreciated. Mistakes can happen anywhere, and what matters is how they're handled here...they take care of you. So they hate disabled people too. Like that's literally a violation of the ADA, to demand someone take off their mask because you can't hear them because your music is too loud. Placed an order for pick up and the DoorDash app said it was time to go inside and pick up our order so we did. The staff inside had the music blaring so loudly that my friend had to take off her respirator and she's immuno compromised just so they could hear her. These are ableist jerks. On top of that when it was trying to pick up the order in the DoorDash app, my friend walked into the restaurant to pick up our order physically and they said it wasn't ready yet. Now it's running 20 minutes behind schedule. I will never give these people my business or time again, I will warn every disabled and Covid conscious and chronically ill person to not go there because they won't turn down the music and they'll pretend not to hear you if you're wearing a full face mask. The horrible timing is just not worth it.

I still feel that way, but recently I reserved a table for 4 and two things really stuck in my mind negatively after spending the evening there that wanted to alert the restaurant to. I worked in restaurants for 15 years so I know not every day is your best, and that getting things right is the first priority, not schmoozing, so this isn't about friendliness. The server was fine in terms of checking up on us, but didn't engage our request for recommendations for dinner or wine; no biggie, but when the check came she a) didn't mention that the tip was included, and my generous boyfriend (who wanted to snag the card and pay quickly without letting others get a chance) would have tipped another $80 had I not gotten up from the table and asked whether tip was included. On large checks the server should tell the group immediately not to worry about calculating the tip, and still act like she is earning it by taking good care of the table, refilling wine glasses when we ordered a bottle, etc. what really got me though was when we requested -- she didn't offer-- the remaining food on the table to go, she came with two piles of boxes and put them on the edge of the table. Again, my no-fuss boyfriend said he didn't mind packing the food up, but I think if you spend $450 on a dinner they could at least offer to neatly pack the food to go. It's a chore that I want to leave at home, plus it can be messy. It annoyed me a lot that the money we spent didn't seem to be appreciated and we had to basically clean up our table at the end. Not a good service night. Can you make it a policy to at least offer to pack the food? Comal isn't that type of pandemic restaurant that drops customer service in favor of pretend hygiene, and I just wonder if the standards are slipping or it was just a one off
