The wet burrito here is just peak for me. It's so good. Pollo asado is moist and delicious, burrito is the perfect size, filled with goodness. Enchilada sauce is flavorful, and it's served with a bunch of thin delicious chips. Salsa bar is still in effect too - doesn't get much better.
I've been here a few times and had the enchiladas, California burrito, and the beef burrito. The California burrito is the best out of the 3, although the fries are a bit soggy. The carne asada is decent, but all of the flavors kind of just blended together. The beef burrito was tender but lacking flavor in the beef, and the beans and rice were also bland. The tortilla wasn't warmed, and the burrito didn't seem very fresh.
POST HIGH SCHOOL REUNION LATE NIGHT MEAL Last Saturday night was my high school reunion, which was at Berkeley. The reunion ended at midnight. I enjoyed the dinner for the reunion, but I knew I would be hungry. After the reunion my fellow high school/ college friend and I went to our old stomping grounds at Cal to Telegraph Avenue. He decided to go to Blondie's Pizza; I went to Top Dog. However the line at Top Dog past 1:00 AM was still long. I decided to go to the eatery next door, which was La Burrita. It was a place when I was a student I would eat at times after Cal Football games. I didn't want to order any burrito I've had at other Mexican eateries. I ordered the lengua burrito. Also I ordered the horchata. The lengua I ate at La Burrita isn't pasty or gamey as I've eaten at some Mexican eateries. The horchata was a beverage I needed after the numerous cocktails I drank during my high school reunion. Overall the lengua burrito at La Burrita was ok but it did the job as I was full after a long night.
The OG Mexican restaurant of Telegraph area. First time I had it was about 15 years ago, and on a positive note-- the food is still good! My recent meals include the Wet burrito, the California burrito, and the Super burrito, and my "go to" back in the day was the Philly burrito. I would advise to try something more adventurous than the standard or super burrito if you're going here for a burrito. The California Burrito is excellent, and the Wet burrito was a VERY satisfying meal on a rainy day. I can't speak for the Philly in recency, but it was my post drinking meal when times called for it. You're not getting the most modern trendy food here, but it's solid and filling. It's not overly seasoned like some Mexican places, in other words-- I haven't felt the effects of a "sodium bomb" the day after eating. It's good honest Mexican food and it's not trying to be anything flashy. The indoor seating is limited, but it has a cozy old style atmosphere that's harder to come by nowadays. Like all other restaurants, occasionally things can be a little hit or miss. Overall, it's consistent, and the staff are likable.
I stumbled upon this restaurant while in Berkeley. I tried the Wet Burrito with steak and got the strawberry agua fresca. The burrito tasted good but it wasn't my favorite kind of burrito. I didn't quite like the red sauce with the cheddar cheese. However, the amount of food given is worth the price. I loved the strawberry agua fresca. It quenched my thirst.
I'm from socal so it's hard to find good authentic Mexican spots, this place is soooooo good and they have bomb burritos! Super quick also, the Hispanic ladies are very sweet :) PLUS the portions are huge and worth the price, always have left overs for two meals instead of one!
I've been here a couple of times and I really enjoy their veggie burrito #21 and their agua de piña (pineapple juice). They provide chips and salsas. My favorite salsa is the one with habanero bits (orange bits). Staff is also really friendly! And they play Mexican music which is nice. This is a cool spot to grab a quick bite.
My daughter found this place while going to UC Berkeley about 12 years ago and it's been our favorite place ever since!! Best burritos I have ever had. The flavor of the meat is to die for. The portions are really large so make sure you're super hungry or share with a friend because chances are you won't finish it! They've got to be good because they've been in business for 30 years. Love You Guys!!

Park far away and walk here, as parking gets rough at night. The carne asada fries are good once in a while, but it is super greasy, so it feels unhealthy to eat. The fries are cooked very well, the cheese is overloaded, and the sauce is great. There is no cilantro, pico de Gallo, or onions on the fries so it does get soggy with no crunch. However, it's great once in a while. The salsa is good, though at the bar and it is unlimited which is great. There are seats for places for sit-in and dining.
La Burrita is my go to place for nachos in Berkeley. The workers are always very kind and are fast with your order. The restaurant is on the smaller side, so if you plan on dining in keep that in mind. They are usually busy during lunch hour with construction workers and in the evenings with students. Like I said, this is my go to place for nachos. I have tried a wet burrito once from here and did not like it, so I stick to what they do well: nachos. The nachos are PACKED and they are t skimpy with the cheese! Their tortilla chips are super thin and crispy which I love. The pico always tastes fresh and the guac is flavorful. They have a self serve salsa station. My go-to is the green salsa. It's not very spicy, which I love! I usually order through snackpass which lists that regular nachos come with pico and jalapeños. Im not sure if this is a mistake but they never add those toppings and I always have to ask for them. Sour cream and guac are extra. I usually add my own sour cream at home for this reason. If you're looking for somewhere to get nachos, go here! Can't say the same for the burritos but the nachos and service never disappoint!
Dont cha hate when you tell someone the food somewhere is delicious and you take them on, what you hope is, an off day. The rice was delicious, beans were good, cheese was on point. It was supposed to be a ground beef burrito. It was bean and cheese burrito with a sprinkling of ground beef. So disappointing. I truly hope it was a fluke and they haven't gone down hill over the past couple of years. I am giving two stars instead of one because I have had them be superb. I will eat there again and rate them again. read more

WHEN: monday 5/23/22 @ 12pm PARKING: the parking situation is tough here. there's only street parking but the spaces are very limited because of its proximity to Asian Ghetto. lots of cars end up double parking on both sides of the street I've heard a lot of good things about La Burrita. They're a classic, fast casual mexican spot with burritos, plates, and tacos. The inside is small but they have a good number of tables (mainly 2 seaters) available. I finally got the chance to try them out when I came to campus to study and realized I forgot to bring my packed lunch. They're on Snackpass with 20% off your first order so I ordered the La Burrita Special and the food was ready in less than 5 minutes! What I got: 1. La Burrita Special with Carne Asada ($11.59) - I love that all orders come with tortilla chips, even if you order togo. The burrito is huge. It's the length of my forearm and hefty af. There's a good ratio of each filling and I appreciate that no single bite was filled with just rice or just beans. The sour cream and guacamole create wasn't overpowering and the carne asada was tender and flavorful. Unfortunately it didn't come with any salsa :( I think this is a great spot for Berkeley students. It's not too expensive, the portions are big, and the service is super fast. Definitely solidified its role as one of Berkeley's best classic spots. read more

I grew up in a predominately Hispanic area so I've had my fair share of Mexican food, but for whatever reason, my first tastings at La Burrita were mindblowingly good. I don't think it's remotely authentic or wildly good, but La Burrita just hits the spot each time I have it. On a recent trip the Bay with my parents, I ordered the La Burrita Special with carne asada ($9.59). It comes with rice and beans, although I opted for no beans. It is the most Americanized burrito you could possibly concoct - complete with sour cream and guacamole. I don't even like sour cream in general, but come in burrito form at La Burrita, it's exactly what I want. It's safe to say that La Burrita still does it for me - it was exactly how I remembered it and one bite sent me down memory. I'm from LA and I could smell a good burrito when I see one, but this one at La Burrita, as inauthentic as it is, has a special burrito sized hole in my heart. read more

I stopped by here on a Sunday afternoon and I went for the veggie burrito since it was still pretty cheap - they still have burritos that are less than $10 - and doesn't contain guacamole, but they have quite a few vegetarian options available. The food came out within 5 minutes. The burrito was decent; it was mild and not super flavorful so adding the salsa can help with that, but it was definitely a generous quantity for the price which I appreciate. They have a few mostly small tables inside if you want to eat indoors. read more

Visit for nostalgia and it is double the price from 2010. No longer cash only, portion seems smaller than memory, but still delicious. Food/Taste/Flavor: 5/5 - Ground beef regular burrito (5) is a bit oily but so flavorful! Solid burrito (even if a bit runny) that is mostly just rice and beef. The chips are crunchy and fried well but don't forget to hit the salsa bar! Ambience: N/A - ordered food to go but the shop was popping Service: 5/5 - bro was super chill Value for price: 5/5 - while much pricier than before, it is still comparable to other shops and absolutely delicious read more
Visited again for nostalgia and still as delicious as I remembered. For $11-13, (the special burrito comes with guac and sour cream), portion size is good! I usually get the carne asada burrito but recently tried the carne asada fries (they're both fire). If you're not a fan of guac & sour cream in your burrito, stick with the regular burritos. Order on Snackpass for the occasional 10-20% off. Family owned business and always fast service. Unlimited salsa bar; tortilla chips are really thin - I personally like that but know some don't. read more

As you can see from the picture, the portion size is pretty big (I can barely finish it). Seriously so good for the price! Like I mentioned in my last review, La Burrita is hands-down my go-to Mexican spot at Berkeley. Every order comes with chips, and they have three kinds of salsa--all of which I genuinely love. The staff is always super friendly and playful, which just makes the experience even better. read more

The service was okay. Nothing. Too major but they do acknowledge patrons very well. I had the shrimp burrito and the horchata drink. Tortilla chips are given with the burrito. The taste was specific and unique. When it comes to a shrimp burrito it tastes different than your average beef or chicken burrito. The shrimp gives it a very fishy or oceans taste. It's very unique, the shrimp burrito also has onions and bell peppers, therefore giving it W very shrimp fajitas taste. The sour cream and cheese give it another level taste ins good way. The chips were very fresh and crispy and did a very well job with scooping a little burrito filling. There's not much seating area but it can get the job done to give you nice taste and authenticity. I know it's hard to find Mexican food around the UC Berkeley campus but this an come very close to it. Compared to Other Mexican restaurants in the area this does pretty well. One of the only cons is the taste of the shrimp. I know it's shrimp but it has a strong taste. If you like shrimp then this should be for you. The shrimp are small whole shrimps read more

Sooooooooooooo good. I am working in UCB for the week and have already come here twice. I had a California burrito last time - so filling I couldn't finish it. And today I had two veggie tacos (very decently priced) which were also super filling and flavorful. Everything comes with some fresh chips! The real reason why I've come back is because of the salsa bar... holy moly guacamole I could literally drink that red salsa it's so good. I love that you can get as much as you want and they have little to go cups for them too. Nice people, and nice interior! I love sitting inside and going back up to the salsa bar as soon as I run out LOL I drown my food in that salsa seriously. read more

I have been to this place by myself and have been to a few events on campus where their food is served and realize I dread it when the food is from here. I really don't like this place. The meat is not well marinated and does not have much flavor. The beans are also bland and they don't offer refried beans. Even when there's cheese it just doesn't have much flavor. I guess when I'm ordering Mexican food I expect at least some good flavors and salsa and this place just doesn't have it. I've had the quesadillas, tacos, burritos and enchiladas and know that I'm not a fan of anything here really and wouldn't come here on my own... read more
