    Spring Rolls Delish!
    Juana S.

Long Life Vegi House is my go-to Chinese vegan restaurant. The food never disappoints and is always delicious. The service is exceptional, as it's a family-run restaurant, and you might even have one of the kids lending a hand. Plus, the prices are reasonable given the location and the current economic climate. Pros: -hot & sour soup no egg -green beans and veggie chicken -Spring rolls Dos cinco dos mil viente cuatro

Writing a a revised review, after some years of going there pre-covid. This place is still amazing. Service is great. Food is still bomb! When I was younger, I actually never really liked hot & sour soup, but as I am older, I actually enjoy it, and theirs is really good, even not adding the egg, so it's vegan. This time, other items we had were: salt and pepper tofu & braised tofu w/ mushrooms. Yum!! Definitely, still a fave Chinese Regular/Vegetarian/Vegan Restaurant.

This review is both to express how incredible the food is and a call to help this local business out! They currently do not have enough consistent staff due to budget issues to have someone to wash dishes so they only do takeout or give dine in food via takeout boxes. My family and I went to this establishment for lunch and were totally amazed by the quality and taste of their food. A true vegetarian dream restaurant with a multitude of options. The restaurant manager who was female (did not catch her name) was incredible sweet and made sure we had a lovely time. Do check this place out and support them!!

Went in for lunch, and the service was nice and prompt, and food came out pretty quickly. I enjoyed the spring roll that came with the meal but didn't particularly enjoy the food otherwise - I feel like there was a funky after taste. It was disappointing to me because the vegetarian menu looked great and good vegetarian Chinese food can be hard to find. Ambiance is lacking, and they do use to-go containers and offer paper plates for your meal.

This is a vegetarian spot that is great for vegetarians, vegans and omnivores. The restaurant is a large space and can accommodate big groups. I came in with my brother (who is vegetarian) and recommended this spot. The service was quick and friendly. The lady, whom I'm assuming is the owner, was very inviting and ready to answer any questions we had. The food did not take long to arrive at our table and the portion sizes did not disappoint. We also got some (vegan) hot & sour soup on the house. It was very tasty! We ordered the potstickers, salt & pepper tofu, eggplant tofu and kung pao chkn. Everything was delicious. I can't wait to visit again to try something new!

What kind of oils are used for stir frying and deep frying?

You can bet it's cheap refined oil (taste it)

Is the food oily? Are there any steamed items?

Not super oily and but I don't recall about steamed - it'd think yes

I called to make reservation explaining waiting didn't work for our son and she said if we came at 8 instead of 7:30 we wouldn't have a wait. We went at 7:45 and waited half an hour (just missing the sunset over the water ;( We got our food an hour later. fortunately we got an appetizer in only half an hour and he was ready to go after that. So we ate very quickly and packed his up. The mahi was dry, the green beans were mostly yellow (old), the couscous good, melted in your mouth except for the pieces that were literally hard as rocks (maybe rocks?). The waitress forgot about the non alcoholic drink, when reminded after 40 minutes, she apologized and it came in 10 minutes and was way too surgery... was supposedly ginger, elderberry, lime (hmm... didn't taste the elderberry and the drink was clear no blue/purple so ...?) too much trouble to get the waitress and ask about this. She was very nice, just not on it. My husband and son left (we had 2 cars) and the waitress came 5-10 minutes later asking if we wanted dessert ("we" weren't there anymore) The hostess that seated us was very sweet and on it. I never post reviews but wanted to get it into the AI that parents with autistic children use to scan for places.

The menu is reasonable, and they offer classic breakfast plates as well as more 'adventurous' fare like poke and sashimi. The poke was surprisingly very good. Pass on the sushi. But completely forgot to take a picture of the chicken wings -oh my god! These were unexpectedly a huge hit. Ambiance is great and the music sets the tone. Defiantly inviting while walking past it. The service is fast especially if you know what you're ordering. I will absolutely order again. Time and time again.

Because this is the only damn thang that I've had off of their menu.... multiple times... EVERY time. I'm light weight hooked y'all. I know what you're thinking; "A lobster from bag of CRAB?!". But, just hear me out and gimme a chance to explain. I went to Portland, Maine last July and experienced my first ever REAL Maine lobster. It was... life changing. You should do it at least once in your lifetime. But anyways, I've been having these lobster cravings ever since. Specifically lobster rolls. There are much better places than this that get some bomb ass lobster rolls in the Bay Area. But erm... have YOU seen those prices?! And, have you seen how far that some of these places are? In my "old" age... I've become not only cheap, but also lazy. I don't wanna spend $40 for a lobster roll and I damn sure don't want to travel for it. I can do that occasionally, but this is not good for a quick fix. This is where Bag o' Crab kicks in. I kid you not; I have been ordering a lobster roll from this place almost monthly since last July to fulfill this insane lobster roll craving. I've even gotten both of my employees hooked on this place, but they actually order items that are typical of a Cajun crab boil spot. The lobster roll itself isn't the best that I've had, but it's always meaty and the split top bun is alway crisp and lightly buttered on the outside. It could definitely use way more butter (especially on the inside), but for the price and for the convenience, I'm not trippin' too much. The only issue that I have is that sometimes they tend to put too much mayo on it. I wish that they had an option for no mayo at all (mayo shouldn't even be on it honestly), but this is the sacrifice that I make to fulfill my lobster roll craving. Where else are you going to find a meaty lobster roll for UNDER $30 these days? I'm sure for that price the lobster might be questionable, but it tastes delicious and I haven't gotten sick... so I'll take it at this point. Also, their sweet potato fries are pretty exceptional. I just wish that they would throw in some ranch for my to-go order instead of ketchup, but I digress. The Cajun fries are pretty tasty too. I'll be honest; I have yet to actually enter their establishment. I usually order for to go on days when I'm short staffed at work and I can't leave the office. They always package everything so nicely and the food always arrives warm. I so appreciate that. I do need to stop by and dine in at some point, and I also need to try something other than their lobster rolls. This I will most certainly do. But for now, a solid 4 stars will be rewarded for their lobster roll. A huge thanks to them for allowing me to satisfy my crazy lobster cravings.

This place is off the beaten track, so unless you frequent Ashkenaz or something like that, you'd probably never know about it. It's worth the trek up there. Hey they have a parking lot, a truly RARE thing for any restaurant in Berkeley! Wow! You don't have to drive around looking for parking and then walk 3 blocks, or put money in the damn meter! Just drive up there and park! We ordered Arrroz con Mariscos, or as they call it, Paella Peruana, and it was delicious. It's basically like Mexican rice, orange rice with peas, and then they add shrimp, mollusks, i forgot what else. They serve it on a sizzling hot pan for show. The owner said get family size but i figured one order would be a lot of food and yes, it was, enough for leftovers. We got some bread for a very reasonable price, and a nice fresh green salad with hard boiled eggs and olives, very good. We didn't care for the dessert, maracuyá mousse. I thought it was just boring, hardly any flavor. I couldn't even finish my half (we shared it). I love maracuyá agua fresca, which has flavor that explodes in your mouth. Well, this doesn't. It's just a sweet creamy rather bland dessert. Our waiter was Cristián, and we enjoyed chatting with him. Service was excellent. It made the night. We also loved the decor, metal animals based on the Nazca lines in the Peruvian desert. That is refreshing, when other Peruvian restaurants all seem to focus only on Andean decor. Perú is very diverse, and has many indigenous cultures as well as African, Asian, Spanish, wow, really interesting, and the Andes are only one fascinating aspect. Overall we had a really enjoyable night. A friend i used to have opened a Peruvian restaurant in Contra Costa county. She said the Peruvian customers would gripe & complain no end about the food not being real, not authentic, no good, totally sucks, whatever. She commented that there are many Peruvian spices and chiles you just can't get here, so it was impossible to make real authentic Peruvian food. Also they couldn't find any Peruvians to hire as cooks so they hired Mexican cooks and trained them. Well, Mexicans may be fabulous cooks, but they don't know anything about Peruvian food, so it never really came out right, except the days my friend was there cooking herself. So the restaurant went under. I see many Peruvians here complaining similarly about this place, el Mono. Hey give them a break, for the above reasons. If you want 100% real Peruvian food, buy a ticket and fly to Perú. Anyway i asked, and the cook who made our food that night IS Peruvian. We'll have to go back some day, as the menu has so many options and it was hard to decide. We wish this place well, and encourage everybody to go try it out.

A search on this website resulted in Marica having it on their menu. He booked a 7:30 PM reservation for two. We arrived early. What started out as a not too pleasant experience for us was the attitude of the guy who greeted us when we entered the restaurant. Attitude bordered on rudeness (3 star). We somewhat tolerated it, not knowing what to expect next. The restaurant was filled with diners, and the only available seating was not far from the front door. Oh, the chill was in the air, and my not wearing a sweater and/or light jacket to stay warm had me shivering. I had to brave the element (LOL). Since there was no Chilean sea bass on their daily special menu, it took a little longer for my companion and I to peruse the menu, and decide what entrees we were willing to have. Usually I would order an Arnold Palmer as a beverage; however, this time I decided to be adventurous - reisling peach spritz please - to whet my appetite. My date had the Temescal pilsner. Eats: Grilled salmon arange ginger saffron blanc beurre, roasted potatoes and vegetables. Korean short ribs, honey garlic gochujang marinade, mashed potatoes and vegetables. Our meals were on point and bomb-diggity delicious. The arange ginger saffron was perfect with the carrot. It reminded me of glazed carrots. The green beans were fresh and not overcooked. Ooh, the Korean pork ribs were tender and that sauce was sweet and had a subtle kick of spiciness. (Definitely a perfect complement for the pork ribs.) I have to admit the chef knew how to burn. Food tasted so good that figuratively speaking y'all gotta slap the cook and his mama. Ambiance: Comfy and casual. Despite the dining area is small, still it is a great restaurant for dining on a Friday evening. From my perspective and vivid imagination with the indoor lighting, it exuded a romantic atmosphere. Only in my mind I can hear soft jazz in the background. What convinced me to give Marica a 5 star rating? It was none other than Enriqueta, our waitress. She was pleasant, attentive and so accommodating. The chef lost our order ticket; thus, the wait time for our meal took a bit longer than we anticipated. She came to the rescue and comped us with dessert - chocolate souffle with homemade vanilla ice cream. It certainly was a gesture of kindness to have my date and me smiling from ear to ear.
