The old space is still under the same owners, almost the same food but maybe more concentrated on the Mexican fare. I'd call this a hipster pub. No table service, gotta order up front and food brought out. Can't start a tab so if you want multiple drinks or food items better order it all at once, or keep getting up to order and re-pay (which I dislike). If you sit at the bar top, they can run you a tab there. But it's usually pretty packed there. Beer n a Shot ($11/4*) the beer is a domestic lager (Miller Hi Life) and you can choose between 3 shots. I chose Fernet as I can use it post meal, while I have the beer with the meal. Don't love the beer but for the price ya just can't beat it. 6 Wings ($13/3.5*) Wings are a big focus on their menu. You can pick from lots of sauces/rubs; different quantities to fit your group/appetite; ranch or blue cheese; you can customize flats, drummies or mixed. They even asked how crisp we wanted the fry, which rarely is ever asked. I dug their thoroughness in the wing game. We chose basic buffalo sauce and I found it to be just average. Quite salty meaning it is mostly Franks Hot Sauce, I like ones that are more balanced with other ingredients. I did like their blue cheese dressing as they add a scoop of blue crumbles to the ramekin itself so it is very chunky which I like. Fish Taco ($5/4.5*) I chose a fried version but you can also get grilled fish. Perfectly fried strips of battered fish. Appropriate accouterments of shredded cabbage, cilantro and sour cream. 2 delicious pureed salsas come with as well that are requisite to use. Cobb Salad ($19/4.5*) Solid entree sized salad. Love how you pick between shrimp or chicken then grilled or fried. You will literally change the dynamics with each choice. The lettuce was fresh spring mix. Topped with crisp bacon bits, grape tomatoes, blue crumbles, avo slices, which is why I am fond of Cobb Salads. So many varying textures and flavors keeping things interesting. They use smaller shrimps but at least they have a nice meaty texture. They season it pretty aggressively and sear it on a hot flat top. Not sure if they cooked it next to some carne asada or if they use beef tallow to cook with, but my shrimp bites totally tasted like steak. I love surf n turf so this totally worked for me. Just don't know if it was deliberate or not. Nice add to the neighborhood and I'm sure I'll be back. Still want to try their nachos and possibly chicken n waffles. I was hesitant to order ground beef nachos but it was great tasting & well made. I got full but couldn't stop eating them. I ordered a drink and nachos. The drink came out promptly and was simple but well constructed. Service was good and with care. It's mostly high top seating with seating at the bar as well, & maybe 1-2 half circles with comfy pillows. Parking is tough, plan to either circle or park a few blocks away. We've been going here since their old location that they shared with a bar, and we are so happy for them that they have expanded to a new location! I was visiting the area to spend time with family and didn't know many spots, but I'm really glad I came across Xingones Cantina. The vibe is great, and the food definitely delivers on flavor. It was so good that we came back the next day before leaving town just to have it again. Service was about an 8/10. The only reason I didn't rate it higher was due to one moment that didn't sit right with me. I watched a waitress bring out fries to a guest, the guest started eating them, and then she came back to say it was a mistake and took them away after he was already halfway through. That just didn't feel very service-oriented. In a situation like that, it would have been better to acknowledge the mistake and let the guest keep the fries on the house. Taking back half-eaten food felt like poor judgment. That said, the overall experience was still very positive. I've heard great things about the wings here at Xingones so I finally made some time to try it out for myself! Xingones offers fast casual dining and also has a bar. We opted for dine-in so we ordered at the front, took our number, and seated ourselves. Their decor is very vibrant yet feels cozy with how it's set up. There are some high top tables, couch seats, and normal tables. On the back wall, you'll see their logo, a great photo-op if you come with friends! This restaurant would be great for large gatherings as well. I'm not sure if they were understaffed when I was there, but it took a few minutes for someone to come take our order at the front. Once we ordered, we grabbed some water at the self-serve station and waited for about ten minutes. The food came out pretty quick! Our Xingones Nachos came out first, I was very excited to try the Picadillo on the nachos. It's one of my childhood favorites! The nachos were $14 and it came with a pretty decent serving, definitely enough for two people. It was topped with picadillo (stir fried ground beef and veggies), cotija cheese, sour cream, cilantro, onion, and had red salsa on the side. I'm not sure what kind of salsa it was, but it was pretty bland and rather oily. It did offer a nice contrast and character to the richness of the nachos which was nice. The nachos were plentiful, but rather than the toppings being layers between the chips, it was just smacked on top. So, once we got through the top layer of chips/topping we were left with a bunch of plain chips. The chips itself were very crispy and not too oily. For the wings, we got a Large (12 pieces) with two flavors (citrus hot and spicy Korean) which came with two ranch cups, carrots, and celery for $23. You could pay a few extra bucks for all flats or all drums but we like a nice variety. For me, the star of the wing platter was the ranch-- I really enjoyed how much dill they used in it! The wings were obviously fried, but were not crunchy at all and the meat was pretty dry and didn't have much flavor soaked into the meat itself even though the sauce was evenly coated. It also didn't feel like the wings were fried to order, but I could be wrong. Thankfully, the citrus hot sauce made the wings somewhat enjoyable. It was bright, flavorful, and seasoned well. The hot korean sauce was too one-note for me. The spice levels were both very mild, but that's okay! I am truly hoping it was just an off day for Xingones, as many of my friends have told me they come here just for the wings. Since it's down the road from me, I'll definitely come back to see what the rest of their menu has to offer. read more

I got the California Burrito with Carnitas and everything in it. It was a very well-packed burrito. Nicely sealed tortilla and wrapped in aluminum foil. I didn't have to rip apart layers and layers of aluminum foil since there was only one. The fries in the burrito are crinkle cut so there's an extra nice texture to it when you bite into it. The flavors were good but the sauce helps supplement it alot. It wasn't a very 'wet' burrito which I appreciated and the default does not come with rice which I also appreciated. The carnitas could have used a little more flavor but it was still nice and juicy. I couldn't help but finish the whole thing. Would come back to try other items! read more

So it's pretty obvious I love this place! I've even followed them over here to their 4th street location since they are no longer open over on Washington. No surprise there since the area is rapidly declining everyday bring more and more unhoused who seem to have drug issues. There's a lot of apartment buildings around with a brewery across the street so it gets pretty busy at night with only street parking as your option if you drive here. The tables are first come first serve and you order at the cash register and they give you a number if you decide to dine in. All my friends laughed at me for getting a street dog, but they all stoped when they saw it and had some cuz it was loaded and it was really good. It also comes with a side of fries and I really like the crispyness and the seasoning they used on the fries. My friend got a carne asada taco and she said it's the best asada she's had, other than homemade ones. That is such a high compliment coming from her, so I trust and highly recommend getting a carne asada anything.
