This is a semi small place with indoor and bar seating. Service was very slow. We waited a while to place our order and then were waiting a while for the bill as well. Food came out one or two plates at a time for our party of 11, which was not great. People were waiting to eat and their food was getting cold by the time everyone had their plates. They also told us their restroom was out of service since the day prior when we arrived...I didn't think you could open as a restaurant if that were the case. Luckily, one restroom was opened during the course of our meal. Food was good. Empanadas were an interesting texture, almost like a fried wanton. Got the flat iron steak and subbed Yukka fries for the mashed potatoes. They said it would an added charge, but I didn't realize they would charge for a full side. I would've just stuck with the mashed potatoes. Veggies were ok, just zucchini. The sauce for the steak / plate was tasty though. Dishes and drinks were well presented. They have a variety of cocktails and mocktails, as well as beer and wine.

This restaurant is one of the gems in Oakland. It's in a place that has plenty of garages around for safe and secure parking, it's in a location that has a lively upscale vibe for young professionals, and has a chic and modern feel to the decor that honors the peruvian roots of this chain. The food is presented in a very compelling way, and the flavors are authentic with an upscale modern twist. The music is a touch loud, but that could be part of the young modern vibe. The staff is pleasant, and the place provides you with a pleasant viewpoint of Oakland. I'm sure I will go again.

We stopped by Limon and ordered the lomo saltado, a flat iron steak, and the camarones crocantes, and everything ended up being really delicious. The lomo saltado had great flavor and was super satisfying, and the flat iron steak was cooked really nicely. The camarones crocantes were a standout for me though. Perfectly crispy and the kind of dish you keep reaching back for. Overall it was a really nice spot for dinner and the food definitely hit the mark. The space itself is comfortable and relaxed, but I did find myself wishing it had a little more decor or personality inside. The food has so much flavor that it almost makes you expect the space to feel just as lively. Still, I would absolutely come back for the dishes we ordered.

All right this past Sunday was my third time. And I must say I was impressed again I was seated quickly. They even let me watch the NFL playoffs while I was being served. We started off with the water and a shrimp appetizer it's shown in the photos below, and I had a dish that was just about like paella, we also had a half of a rotisserie chicken and the third dish was with like bell peppers, onions and you can have a choice of having it with steak or shrimp. We had it with just shrimp. It was also delicious. It came on a bed of french fries with a kind of like a sauce on the plate as well. It's a nice spot near downtown Oakland and I could even see my car while I was sitting down eating. The parking was very convenient. Again, I would highly recommend it. Limon is great.

I used to go to the one in Burlingame but I decided to check out the one in Oakland and it didn't disappoint. Parking is a little tricky but I was able to find a spot after circling for around 10 minutes. The ambiance inside the restaurant is really nice and definitely suitable for nice dinner. We ordered the Arroz con Mariscos and the Lomo Saltado, which I think is typically their most popular dish. I was not a big fan of the Arroz con Mariscos but loved the Lomo Saltado. The beef is very nicely cooked and seasoned and goes excellent with the fries. Would highly recommend! For the ambiance and food, I would give it 4.0 stars!

Limón was the perfect "I have time to kill before the airport and want something satisfying" move on a work trip. It was absolutely hopping inside, which tells you a lot. This place is clearly a local favorite, and the energy matched. I grabbed a seat on the patio instead, which was a great vibe, relaxed, airy, and ideal for decompressing for a bit before heading out of town. I ordered the half chicken and... wow. Huge portion. Like, "I could probably feed my future self tomorrow" huge. It was cooked well, juicy, and did exactly what you want rotisserie-style chicken to do: show up flavorful and reliable without needing a pep talk. The sauce situation was the only letdown. The aji was fine, but not my favorite version. It leaned more creamy and mayo-forward than bright and punchy, and I tend to like my aji with more heat and tang. Not a dealbreaker, just not the standout I was hoping for. On the flip side, the lychee pisco sour was legit. Super tasty, nicely balanced, and honestly the kind of drink that makes you forget you're about to go sit in an airport for the next few hours. If you're in Oakland and want a popular spot with good portions, solid chicken, and a patio that feels like a mini escape, Limón is an easy yes. Just know it gets busy, and if you're particular about aji, you might find it a little on the creamy side.

My bestie and I came here during a random weeknight and we closed the place down! It's such a cute vibey place that is very modern and chic. From what I saw and encountered, the staff were so very nice and helpful! I ordered such a pretty lychee martini, highly recommend! Only issue I have here is the parking. Like a majority of Oakland restaurants I couldn't imagine coming here during a Friday or Saturday night with the limited street parking they have.

Service: 5/5 we were seated immediately Food: 5/5 - the half chicken $24 was enough to feed 2 people. The sides were generous as well. Chicken was tender and flavorful. They also have happy hour starting at 3pm-5pm

Friend and I were looking for a new restaurant to try and can't believe we hadn't tried Limón before! I made a reservation online and even though I was late due to parking, they seated her when she arrived and didn't say anything to me about being late. Our server, Eduardo, was friendly, gave good recommendations, and brought the food out quickly. We shared the cheese empanadas, which were perfectly cheesy and came with a tangy yellow sauce. For our entrees, I had the mixto amarillo ceviche with taro chips ($4 extra) and my friend had the steak. Loved the ceviche - fish was fresh and the chips soaked up the sauce well. My friend's steak was huge and she took some home for leftovers. She also had a lychee cocktail, which she seemed to enjoy. The main downside is that the restaurant is that it's noisy, which is why this review is a 4 star rating. I'm not sure if the noise is due to the acoustics or busyness of a Friday night. Since the food is 5 stars, I'd come back during the week to see if it's quieter. Parking is difficult so next time I'd take an uber/Lyft, which means I can order a cocktail or wine from their extensive alcoholic drink menu. =) Not the cheapest spot, but would come back for a special occasion. Although I'm moving out of state in ~1.5 weeks, I hope to return next time I'm in CA!

Pretty chill spot Nice food, has a lot of seafood options. Food tasted great. I got the steak which was cooked exactly as I imagined it. Good ambiance good atmosphere. Tables are all clean. Renovations inside are modern. Staff are all nice. Service is quick and on point. We went as a large group and everyone's main course came out at the same time, and all are warm. Good operations. Parking is a little tough but if you are lucky you might find some street parking. The drinks tasted good. Overall, a pretty cool place to chill

First time dining at Límon. Service was excellent and the vibe was amazing. We ordered the lychee sour which was beautiful in presentation and tasted fantastic We ordered the infamous Limon chicken moist and flavorful. The platter of fried and crispy fish, shrimp, calamari, was delightful and a must order. Plantains were refreshing. Would definitely come back soon before another show at the Paramount.

Did they stop selling Tacu Tacu?

Do you have a Happy Hour?

Happy Hour at our Oakland location is Monday - Friday, 3 - 6 PM.

What kind of parking is available? Worried about windows being smashed

There is plenty of street parking on 27th street. As this is Oaklamd, there is always that risk of someone ruining your night out.

Do you have a gluten free menu? If so where can I find it?

Most Peruvian dishes use potatoes, rice, or corn. Fish dishes and ceviche don't have gluten, except for pescado a lo macho which uses a batter. However I'd be careful about the saltado since it generally uses soy sauce (often that has gluten).

Do you allow outdoor seating for those who aren't vaccinated?

There's a few seats outside for outdoor dining as well as heaters.

    Is a covid Vaccine required?

No. I heard it might start Feb 1st for Oakland.

Where can I make a reservations for Oakland? It's not on your website

They don't take reservations at the Oakland location. You're better off calling before you head over.

    How do you make reservations?

You can click the reserve now buttons on any of our locations here: https://www.limonrotisserie.com/locations

Does Limon in Oakland take reservations?

I made a reservation using Yelp.

Are you dog friendly for outdoor seating?

They allow dogs on the patio.

Is this the branch of Limon in SF?

It is and I enjoyed it even more than I did the SF locations! So happy they are in Oakland now

How much outdoor seating is available?

3-4 two tops in front of the restaurant from what I remember

When should we expect the Limon Rotisserie in Oakland to be open? I'm sure that I speak for a lot of people in wanting to know the answer to this question. Any update(s) would be appreciated.

Just drove by today (July 27, 2021) and it looks open!!! Wondering if it's a soft open because I've seen no announcement but there were definitely a few people seated during lunch and none looked like employees.

    Hi!! When are you opening?

Yes it is open! I'm here now because of the person above me who said they saw people

From the moment I sat down, the warm glow of the dining room, lively energy, and inviting aromas drifting from the kitchen set the tone for an exceptional evening. The cocktails were outstanding. The Ojos Así was beautifully balanced, with bright, refreshing notes layered over deeper, more complex flavors that unfolded with each sip. Its vibrant presentation and fragrant aroma made it as enjoyable to admire as it was to drink. Equally impressive was the Y El Hombre Caimán, a bold and expertly crafted cocktail bursting with character, combining rich flavors and a silky texture while remaining remarkably approachable. Both were the kind of cocktails that make you slow down, savor every sip, and appreciate the artistry behind them. For the main course, the Costilla Negra was the star of the table. Perfectly cooked and incredibly juicy, the short rib featured a beautifully caramelized exterior that gave way to tender, flavorful meat. Each bite delivered a satisfying balance of richness and refinement, while the thoughtfully plated accompaniments added contrasting textures and complementary flavors that elevated the dish even further. What truly elevated the experience was the service. Rhi, tending bar, was knowledgeable, engaging, and clearly passionate about the cocktail program. Her recommendations were spot on and added an extra layer of enjoyment to the evening. She is a true master at her craft. Jackie, our server, was equally fantastic--warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, making us feel like valued guests throughout the meal. It was more than enough food but we just couldn't stop eating because of how delicious it was! The sweet corn tamale was like a dessert, but paired with the tang and salt of the sour cream and cotija cheese it became a refreshing sweet and salty bite. It was a traditional corn dough and the texture was insanely soft, unlike most of the dry tamales I have had before. The pache tamale was truly the star. I had no idea what I was ordering, but I'm so glad that I managed to get this item in my order. The masa is made with potatoes instead of corn which gives it a smooth and melt in your mouth texture and a savory, addictive flavor. The pork inside is juicy and tender. Each bite is complete with the tangy pickled onions. The chuchitos were like the traditional Mexican tamales I am used to, with corn masa and stuffed with flavor and juicy chicken. The tamales are doused in a delectable red sauce and topped with cotija, sour cream, and more pickled onions. They were delightful. The garnachas were definitely the other star of this order. I had never had tostadas like them before, with flavorful and juicy chopped meat, salsa, and cotija. They are served with pickled veggies to add spice and tang, but what surprised me the most was the sautéed cabbage placed on top of each garnacha. The cabbage was so flavorful and soft, and despite all of the other sources of flavor it made itself known. The chile relleno plato was unlike what I am used to. Often, the chile rellenos my family eats are poblano peppers stuffed with oaxacan cheese, these were not that at all. In a way, this dish resembled more of a stuffed bell pepper, with a red pepper filled with chopped meat and veggies. I did get a piece of cartilage which made me a little wary when taking a bite but it was so delicious I couldn't help myself. The black beans it came with were flavorful and the dressing of the salad was amazing and reminiscent of a green goddess dressing. The service was amazing. The people were sweet and accommodating. I also really enjoyed the ambience even though I did order pick up. There are murals and bright colors lining all of the walls, giving the place a welcoming and fun vibe. Overall, with the amazing food, sweet faculty, and beautiful setting, it is impossible to go to this place and not feel an immediate lift in mood.

We were blessed to try Mago - a top 100 SF Chronicle and Open Table restaurant - in Piedmont. It's…read morefine dining from a Colombian perspective - seriously, who has tried Colombian food?! - but it's gussied up to extra fancy. It is quintessential fine dining where each of their 8 courses are exquisitely prepared in front of you (there's a LARGE open kitchen which takes up most of the restaurant) and served to you over 2.5 hours. The flavors are AMAZING and so unique...Top 3 Standouts were the Duck with grilled ramps and papaya (seriously best duck I've ever had), the Kanpachi Crudo with habanero (I was scared of this but they totally tamped down the heat with carrots and pineapple and added sunflower seeds for crunch), and the flan which was impossibly THIK and smooth (best flan I've ever had hands down). Also really enjoyed the made-in-house guava sorbet and pavlova (which tasted like crispy honeycomb). Super relaxed atmosphere with friendly, unpretentious service. The only down side was that it WAS fine dining so each dish is extremely small and it does take a long time between courses. I had just worked out and I tend to eat very little before 5 pm, work out arduously and then backload my calories but this was a horrible idea as I ended up STARVING and feeling light-headed...Good thing my wife is always prepared and brings snack packs in her purse HAHA! Her edamame, pretzel sticks, and fruit roll ups came in handy! But I still had to go home and eat a big tuna sandwich and big bowl of tofu stew lol. $90 for their tasting menu Tues - Thurs, $125 for the same meal Fri - Sat. The InKind app had a special as well for $50 off so this was all in all a steal for fine dining.

Their dining room is spacious, the staff are genuinely warm, and the live-fire grill gives the restaurant a wonderful smoky aroma as soon as you walk in. The food was consistently good and thoughtfully presented. Nothing was truly disappointing, although several dishes could have used more finishing salt. The cooking felt creative but too safe. The opening bite with english peas was one of my favorite dishes, though it was too large for a single bite. The wild salmon was well cooked but a little boring, while the pork was unfortunately overcooked. The panna cotta was delicious and one of the highlights of the evening. The wines by the glass were fine but not especially memorable. The cocktails were much more interesting, and the one I tasted was excellent. The restaurant was half empty when we arrived, which made such a large dining room feel slightly lonely. Later, more tables came in and the music became more energetic, which immediately improved the atmosphere. Overall, a pleasant restaurant I would recommend you to visit on a weekday of you live in the area. At the same time, don't expect it to be a special spot.
