    Papaya Salad (to-go) $19.50 | Apr '26
    MyMy T.

Last night, I landed at Daughter's Thai Kitchen, tucked into table #D5 -- a corner seat, perfect for anyone who likes a little privacy and zero unsolicited people-watching. Ambience: Clean, bright, and cheerful -- the faux flowers on ceilings and walls give serious "Thai garden meets craft store" vibes. Refreshing and Instagram-ready, if you're into that sort of thing. Service: Polite and functional. Think reliable coworker who doesn't steal your lunch but also won't start a conga line for you. Good, just not "stand‑up‑applause" good. The Meal: My go-to lineup: Tod Mun (Thai Fish Cakes), a fresh coconut (sugar detox... until it wasn't), Pad Kee Mow (requested not spicy), and a papaya salad to go. Halfway through the Pad Kee Mow, I was sweating like I'd accidentally signed up for a Bikram class -- and I definitely hadn't. Desperate for relief, I caved for a Thai iced tea. So much for avoiding sugary drinks. Food Notes (Keeping It Real): * The papaya salad came with regular green salad instead of crisp cabbage on the side -- by the time I got home, it looked more like "Warm Thai Garden Leftovers." * The peanuts were crushed and soggy, swimming in sauce like tiny, sad floaters. * Fish cakes? Not homemade -- missing that light bounce and fresh-fish punch I adore. For comparison, Basil Thai Express in Dublin keeps their peanuts whole in a zip-lock bag, secures take-out like forensic evidence, and costs less than here. Not that Daughter's is awful -- just that "meh" doesn't quite justify the price.

Came here for some Thai food and ended up loving it so much I came back again the next day with my family (and my dog since the outdoor seating is pet-friendly)! We sat outside and the weather was absolutely beautiful--just a heads up though, the pavement is a bit slanted so the tables and chairs are slightly angled downward. Not a dealbreaker, but something to be aware of. Now for the food--the standout for me was the papaya salad with fermented crab. SO good and easily my favorite dish. The tom kha and pad Thai were also delicious, super flavorful, and really hit the spot. The Thai tea was refreshing and paired perfectly with everything. Only downside is that the portions are on the smaller side, especially for the price. But honestly, the flavors made up for it. Overall, really tasty Thai food and a great outdoor dining experience--I'll definitely be back again! The servers here are also very friendly and checks up on us often.

Pretty high-quality Thai food, and what I would consider a " fancier" Thai dining experience. I ordered the basil, eggplant, chicken, and the portion was generous and very high-quality ingredients. My husband ordered a spicy fish dish and they sure do not joke around with the spice levels! Service was fast and very friendly, and they do birthday celebrations upon request. My only conflicting feelings were around how the dishes were priced, this is certainly not an average takeout location in my opinion, and the prices are incredibly steep for what you get (compared to other local Thai restaurants). Prices are understandable for the location.

This is one of the best Thai food we have add in the Bay Area. The service was exceptional, we had a birthday and they made sure it was special. The ambiance is the entry was picture perfect

Aesthetic restaurant that's decorated beautifully inside and out. There's a small parking lot right next to it. My friends and I came on a Saturday evening at around 8pm. We didn't have a reservation beforehand and luckily, we waited only a couple minutes until we got seated. We ordered four dishes to share. In hindsight, we could've gone with just three dishes; the portion sizes were bigger than we expected. We ordered: - Pad Thai "Chai Ya" with Chicken 5/5: Yummy. Good flavor. No complaints. - Pad See You with Pork 5/5: Delicious. I liked the thick noodles, and texture was perfect. - Thai Fried Rice with Crispy Pork Belly 3/5: The fried rice was good but the pork belly was hard to chew. - Roti Mataba 5/5: This was different. I think this was my first time having stuffed roti. It was kind of like a samosa. Loved the sauce. The salad on the side was also very good. Overall, we had a great dinner and I would definitely come back here.

Yes both plates were mine I believe this was some fried crab rice

This restaurant is nice and for your every day family outing. It also has outside sitting. The service was nice, fast paced and I ca say the workers now the menu. The food came out real fast and fresh. I will return it was a nice spot!

this place has been on my list to go to. I went on a weekday and was the first in. I will say this place gets really busy. i was welcomed in and seated immediately. I loved that they serve the sparkling water in a wine glass with a lime. I loved that they have plenty of choices for mocktails. I ordered a mojito mocktail it was so good. To eat the chicken thai tacos. They were good but the chicken is on the crunchy side. the flavor was good. Also tried the thai rice which was good. The atmosphere is really cute as well as the entrance and bar. I will be back to try more.

Definitely a spot worth trying! Went with some friends for a galantines day celebration and we left satisfied and with full tummies. The highlight of the meal was the Hat Yai Fried Chicken and tom yum soup( not pictured) for me! The service was quick and friendly and they were able to accommodate one of my friends with a peanut allergy nicely by letting us know which items that they can remove the nuts from. Additionally the ambiance was so cute, I wish I had taken a photo. Highly recommend this spot for a birthday or little celebration dinner

I've been really excited to try Daughter Thai Kitchen, and Christmas lunch felt like the perfect time to bring my family. The restaurant is beautifully decorated with purple wisteria at the entrance, and the courtyard feels romantic and serene. Inside, the ambiance continues--very elegant and upscale, immediately giving the impression of a fine-dining Thai restaurant. Most dishes average around $35, including typical options like fried rice, stir-fried noodles, papaya salad, sweet and sour soup, and eggplant dishes. We ordered one of their specials, the Tsunami Lobster ($80), which was disappointingly small--not even a pound--and looked much larger in the photos. Unfortunately, it was definitely not worth the price. Our total came out to north of $300 for 6 dishes and 2 desserts, with the lobster being the most expensive item. For that price point, the value just wasn't there for me. Overall, the food tasted average, similar to what you'd find at a typical Thai restaurant. The papaya salad was very basic and overly salty, and for the price I wish it included shrimp or fish. The fried rice was good, but beef is an extra charge and labeled as Wagyu--though it was really just thinly sliced beef. The soup was one of the better dishes: rich, coconut-forward, and filled with seafood. The pad kee mao noodles were just okay and lacked the wok-smoky flavor we were hoping for. The lobster dish was the biggest disappointment. The seafood was overcooked and dry, making it far from worth the cost. For dessert, the coconut vacation was overly sweet, but the mango sticky rice was done just right. Service was kind and efficient, and the atmosphere is lovely. Overall, this is a great spot for a romantic date or special occasion if you're going for a Beautiful ambiance and a romantic setting, but for the price, the food didn't quite match the experience.

Thai Caliente (cocktail I ordered) delicious, just not that strong
    Jessica M.

As soon as you walk up, the first thing you notice is the aesthetics. The restaurant is so beautifully decorated, even on the outside. It even has a backdrop so you can take pictures before you come in! This restaurant is a Thai/lao fusion which I love! Tons of things to choose from on the menu. For my cocktail, I ordered the Thai Caliente drink. It was good. Not as strong as I would have liked but the flavor is there. I wasn't super hungry so I ordered the Yum Neua (Wagyu steak salad) with sticky rice on the side. It was really good and refreshing and it's served with cucumbers and cilantro and green onions. They toss it in a spicy lime dressing and serve it with mixed veggies. Super light and flavorful. Service was good. Only issue I had is that the music was really loud. It was hard for us to have conversations across the table since we had to keep talking really loudly over the music. It was my first time there but someone with our party said that was an issue the last time they came. Other than that, food was really good, service was great. Restaurant is cute and I'd come back to try other things on the menu. Parking was a bit of an issue. We came for dinner and I had to drive around a few times, so just keep that in mind when coming to dine. Didn't get a picture of my food/drink but here's a picture of the entrance way and backdrop I mentioned.

Came here for weekend brunch and it was already buzzing. There were large parties already seated and one table who was celebrating a birthday. The menu is pretty diverse with unique takes on classic dishes. The presentation is very instagrammable. We ordered variety of dishes and they were all tasty but not a slam dunk. The portion size is fair but not generous. Typical prices for East Bay though. Would recommend if you want to impress your out of town guests but probably not a day to day go-to spot for me.

When I tell you everything was delicious, I mean it! We went for a Valentine's Day dinner, the ambiance is a cute and cozy modern girls cottage vibe. We started with Neua Num Tok Rolls and Samosas. Samosas were crispy and flaky, served with coconut curry dip (yum!). I had the Pad Kee Mow and my date had Oysters. Everything was delicious. The Tok Rolls had a unique herby sauce with them and were extremely tender. The service was also excellent, because my entree took longer than anticipated I was comped with the coconut dessert. It was ABSOLUTELY a dream, I would return back for the dessert alone. A definite must try

    Elderberry spritzer
    Ivonne G.

We had a reservation because I heard it gets packed here. I'm glad we did because we were sat right away with a complete party. I offered the elderberry spritzer... so delicious. We had the samosa and that was okay but I'm not a huge fan of the flakey crust. Everything else was so good. Papaya salad was amazing, unfortunately you can't request the spice level and it was spicy. Pad Thai.. super, especially the tofu. Will definitely be back again. The ambiance was a bit romantic! Lights dimmed... even though there were kids, it was not loud.

As for the food, we got the tartare, crab empanada, bungalow Benedict, and the phyllo crusted pork chop. The tartare was fresh and not fishy at all, but was missing some salt. Crab empanada was great. The cilantro avocado puree and aioli complemented the crab well. Eggs Benedict was standard. It was nice that it came with a model bakery English muffin, but nothing stood out. Pork chop was fried very well. Crispy exterior but soft inside. It was a pretty hefty cut as well. I expected more from the taverna fries but it seemed like standard frozen fries. The chimichurri sauce was good but had an aioli texture, which was weird but still good taste wise. To end, the butterscotch budino was fairly light and had a good sweetness. All in all, the lunch was still enjoyable especially with the view. I do wish there was that wow factor in some of the dishes to better match the price.

And everything came out pretty fast. Also compared to the other Peruvian spots I've tried, this is by far my favorite (flavor, portions, and ambiance). Service/ambiance: wonderful on both. It was surprisingly lively on a Monday but it added to our experience. The servers were kind and super attentive. Notes: Ceviche doesn't come with chips so you have to order that separately! They give you a good amount though and I think it's a mix or plantain and potato chips (served warm). Parking was quite easy (just parked down the street). The restaurant is a little small but they have tables and a bar area. They also have a happy hour that ends at 5:30 which I will def be back for!

We went with some friends to Lucuma on a Saturday night - a traditional catch-up night we set up. They suggested this place and for me a Peruvian place will always be a high choice on my list. The food was so fresh and delicious. I had a Peruvian Manhattan and it was very good. The service was great - our server was very attentive and responsive. My dish was salty and all I said was it was salty and they grabbed it and the kitchen made me another one. The place is small, but cozy. The decor was very colorful and fun. If you come visit it, you should make reservations.

I found this place on Instagram and came out for drinks one night it's somewhat of a hidden door as it is a speakeasy so come prepared with the password. We only had to wait a few minutes on an early Friday evening, but got in fairly quickly. From the entrance to the bathroom to the seats, everything was just so cute. Besides the ambience, drinks were delicious. I got some drink that had some bell pepper flavors and it's surprised me in the best way possible because who knew you could have some bell pepper essence in a drink. Seriously, top 5 cocktail lounges in my opinion.

When we left around 9:30pm there was a small line. The cocktails here are pricier but I would come back for special occasions or when we have visitors. They had signature drinks but also a limited specials menu. The specials included a drink with Thai flavors (galangal, coconut, kefir lime leaf, Thai chili, butterfly leaf tea, etc) and it was so good! I hope they keep this drink on the menu and I'm excited to see what new craft cocktails they come up with. Overall a fun experience to add to your night out in Downtown Livermore!

This place is so cute inside it's definitely a cool almost speakeasy vibe. Came an hour after they…read moreopened and it was already getting pretty busy on a Thursday night. Service was really prompt and friendly. The food was great we ordered all the classics such as the tater tots and the cucumbers, and we also got the salt and pepper wings, and the special mapo tofu. Portions are great and it's definitely a lot of food to share. There are also extensive cocktails on the menu running at $16-$20 each, which is expected for the creativity and expert craftsmanship of each cocktail. They have a large number of cocktails that are special and seasonal, and then their classics on the bottom. I don't think you can go wrong with anything that you try and I love that they have Asian fusion options for the cocktails and savory and sweet. I got one of the seasonal cocktails that was passionfruit forward and it had a nice tart crisp taste that I really enjoyed.

Technically, we got to try it out the week after, but they extended their menu for the week after. We came that Sunday evening. Parking can be a bit of a hassle because it is indeed Downtown Oakland. Your whole party has to get the Restaurant Week Menu. So we all got their: Aperitif Cocktail - Tomato Beef or Purely Passion (Non Alcoholic) I got the Purely Passion. Good, nothing to write home about. Umami Tots This was really good! Very Crispy. Chili Cucumbers This one was actually really good. Szechuan Salt and Pepper Wings Good, but maybe too crispy? Wings are always good but this one didn't stand out for me. Mango Sorbet (They changed this from the Apple Sorbet that day) My favorite of the whole night. I usually don't like sorbet but this one was soft and easy to eat and has like a creamy like texture? Trying this made me want to try their other dessert item. We also ordered 2 add ons - the Hojicha Miso Tiramisu and the Korean Mapo Tofu. Hojicha Miso Tiramisu was OK. It contained too much alcohol for all of us and was bitter. Disappointing. I liked the Mapo Tofu! I liked that it was Crispy and that it came with rice. Drinks wise, my friends also got to try the Tomato Beef and White Rabbit. I don't really drink alcohol so I just sipped a bit. Tomato Beef was too alcoholic for me, couldn't really taste the tomato or the beef, but I could see what White Rabbit was going for. Overall, I'm really impressed by the food. I usually think Bar Food isn't very good, but this blew me away. Drinks are OK.

Making drinks for a crowd takes time and the staff always does their best. The people who come here are super friendly which adds to the welcoming, cozy vibe of the place. Tallboy's martini menu is well-executed. While I didn't personally try one of the slushies, a friend ordered the espresso martini version and gave it a solid thumbs-up. Unfortunately, the experience falls apart when it comes to food and service. Waiting 30+ minutes for two hot dogs (after paying) is hard to justify. When I checked in with a server, she was curt and dismissive. She was quick to explain there was only one person in the kitchen, with no effort to offer a solution, timeline, or even basic courtesy. I understand staffing issues happen. However, customer service is a close second to concept. How an issue is communicated and addressed is what separates good service from bad. What's more frustrating is that these aren't customer problems to absorb. If the kitchen is understaffed, if tables aren't being cleared in a timely manner at a seat-yourself spot, those are management problems. Guests should not have to choose to leave without the food we paid for. There's a lot of competition out there, and concepts alone aren't enough to bring people back. I genuinely wanted that hot dog. That's probably the most disappointing part of the whole experience. Great drinks, solid ambiance, but the service needs serious attention.
