Vibrant flavors, high price tag. Parche is a beautiul space in downtown Oakland serving family-style share plates of contemporary Colombia dishes. My group of four shared a variety of plates but we all felt were small for the price. We started with two cold plates, the Santa Marta Ceviche and the Salmón Salpicón. I couldn't decide which of the two were ma favorite and I definitely think both were my favorites of the whole meal. Following up with two small share plates, the Arepa de Las Monas and the Empanada de Ajiaco. Finished with the Mojarra Frita, fried whole branzino, which was perfectly fried and not oily at all. The cocktail menu had lots of creative options, but I opted for the Ojos Asi, which I would recommend only if you like bitter cocktails, that said I very much enjoyed it!

Parche in Oakland is such a great place to enjoy an amazing lunch with good company! Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious, from the appetizers to dessert. The crispy pork belly was and definitely a must try! And OMG, the dessert was incredible. I honestly want to go back just for that! The restaurant is spacious and has such a great atmosphere. The staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and attentive, which made the whole experience even better. We had such a wonderful time and can't wait to come back again!

This spot has been recommended by so many people, we finally got to have dinner here. It is a very lively restaurant. The waiter recommended some great dishes for us to have. I ended up getting the plantain gnocchi w vegan sausage. To my surprise I really enjoyed the vegan sausage I liked it better than the gnocchi itself. We also ended up getting some empanadas, it was great with the sauce. Overall we had great service at Parche.

New favorite Colombian brunch and dinner spot in Oakland. Cerviche with black cod, pulled beef and egg arepas and empanadas did not disappoint. Enjoyed the presentation and elevation of the simplest ingredients on each plate. Love the friendly and vibrant ambience, art and attention to detail with service. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

Great date night or girls dinner spot! When the food, decor, and vibes all match each other... it's just sooo *chef's kiss* for me. I'll always come back to places like this. Services was notable great as well! We went ahead and ordered everything our server recommended and the spread did not disappoint: Tumaco ceviche w/plantain chips- delicious cod ceviche in coconut milk, tasty and refreshing Arepa de las Monas- a very elevated cheese & mushroom arepa, super creamy and savory! Empanada de ajiaco- chicken empanada with a jalapeño-cilantro aioli, I don't know how something so simple could be so delicious and packed with flavor (my husband loved this one) Corte Andino- ribeye steak with mashed potatoe/plantains and a salad, perfect large plate to share We also ordered two drinks and I forgot the name but mine had two white gummy bears in it and it was bomb. I can't wait to come to try the Santa Maria ceviche, tostones, and branzino!

The food was incredibly flavorful and beautifully plated. I couldn't get enough!! The drinks are an absolute must!!! Service was quick to deliver food and respond to questions. Ambiance was dim and dark, just how I like it!

This was my first time having Colombian food and I very much enjoyed it! My favorite dishes were their ceviche and empanadas, we also had the patacones but every component was a little too sweet for my taste. The place was very cute and trendy and the staff was helpful and friendly.

We came to celebrate an anniversary and enjoyed our dinner at Parche! The restaurant is thoughtfully curated with its decor and handles both small and large parties well. We ordered the: -chicharrons: super delicious, the pork was crispy and paired well with the pickled toppings. I'm usually not a fan of yuca fries but theirs was crispy and tasty! -crispy plantains: the plantains came out fresh, super crispy and pairs extremely well with the condiments that was offered altogether. -steak: ordered off the larger sides, the steak was cooked to medium rare and tasted delicious. Unfortunately, we were too full for dessert but we'd love to come back for future dinners and/or celebrations. Our server was also fantastic and offered 2 glasses of bubbles on the house to celebrate.

Another win for Oakland, what a beautiful space and place ~ Parche off Broadway. With no reservations, a friend and I wanted to grab some bites and a bevy. We were seated right at 5p, but were told there was a reservation for our table at 6:30p which gave us plenty of time to sit down, relax, and enjoy our meal. Wowee, the restaurant space is so vibrant and full of life. Friendly staff that helped to guide us through the cocktail and food menu. It was suggested to order 2-3 shared plates, and our server was spot on. We did the Sweet Plantain "gnocchi", Empanada de Ajiaco, and the Costilla Negra. What a treat! The Gnocchi dish was entirely vegan made from actual plantains, but would never have known. Topped with vegan sausage, eggplant, and in a hazelnut puree/vegan sage brown butter sauce. So unique! The empanadas had a shredded chicken base and were juicy/plump. We enjoyed the jalapeño-cilantro aioli sauce to dip. And the showstopper dish, the bone-in short rib (Costilla Negra)..yes yes yes. Accompanied with a coconut-yuca puree, it was simply divine. Would go back for this dish alone. Fall-off-the-bone meat in a creamy bed of mash..what foodie dreams are made of! For contemporary Colombian cuisine with a beautiful cocktail list in downtown Oakland, this is a great spot. They also have quite an extensive NA/mocktail list too. We took a ride-share because parking downtown can be rough, and also didn't mind the extra wallet splurge of an early evening girly meal.

Wonderful food, service, lively and vibrantly decorated space at Parche in Uptown Oakland. Offering delicious modern Columbian food and introduced during Oakland Restaurant Week. Ordered a variety of items to share (family style) and dishes all presented beautifully and flavors on point. From the salad del Norte with lots of textures and flavor, corn arepas with melty cheese, crispy, flavorful brussel sprouts and savory, nicely seasoned empanadas, everything was delicious with no complaints Our server, Celia was friendly, efficient and engaging...great service which made the dining experience really enjoyable! I'd definitely return as soon as many items to try (ceviche!) and repeat as the first visit had me wanting more! Metered street parking

My husband and I came here on a date night. It happened to be Oakland Restaurant Week, so there was the option to do the restaurant week Prix Fixe menu or their regular menu. We opted for the regular menu since I wanted to try the whole Brazino. The table next to us ordered the rest week menu, so we got to peek at their food. It all looked really good as well. We even lucky with the tapas platter from the restaurant instead of just empanadas because they kept mixing up our table with the one next to us. The ceviche was really yummy. It was a treat to be able to try a varity of small plate items with the tapas platter they brought to our table by accident. The Brazino was really cool, and tasted fine but it wasn't amazing. There were a few birthday celebrations when we were there. They bring your drink out in this elephant head statue to wish you a happy birthday. Overall, I woudl recommend giving this place a try. I would go again, but not sure that I would rush back soon.

Love the ambience. Celebrated my nephew's birthday there - he loved both the celebration and the food. Que viva!

Good food. Great vibes. Potato gnocchi flavor was questionable but the fish and plantains made up for it. Service was fast and friendly. An upscale place great for date nights. They have seating towards the side that are more cozier. Will be back.

We noticed two open seats at the bar and asked if we could sit there. She said the bar was first come, first serve..yet moments later, she seated two walk-ins who had been behind us in line at those exact seats. So been living in Oakland for going on 15 years now. I'm not what you would call a "bar" person. I…read moretend to enjoy my cocktails, wine, and beer in the cozy confines of my own home. That said I'm occasionally inspired to go check out the local watering holes for a good pour, some food if possible, and just to be in the presence of the human pulsation. Walking into Tallboy on a Thursday afternoon was a bit like Nirvana for me. There is a comforting vibe of neighborhood and after work people shedding responsibility and "toe the lineness" and transitioning to pondering true meaning and the other side of the elliptical bend over nicely crafted cocktails and HOTDOGS! I am a hotdog fiend, and Tallboy has a very creative range on the menu that does not disappoint. From a basic onions/mustard, an Elote Dog, an a Coney Islandesque (it has chili) version. Some folk go to bar and line up shots (or craft cocktails). At Tallboy you can do that AND line up their hotdogs which I intend on doing in the very near future. The pleasantries don't stop at the food (there are other delicious snack items on their menu to choose from too). Tallboy has a fully stocked bar, and the menu has a list of really unique and delicious signature craft cocktails. I'm not a Mezcal drinker, but I ended up dubiously ordering their Guava Martini which to my smokey surprise is made with Mezcal. I stayed with the smokey fruitiness of this Guava Martini as it was my mistake that I did not read in the description it is made with Mezcal, and ended up chasing it with their Tamarindo Cocktail which also has Mezcal. To those who really enjoy Mezcal the Tallboy Guava Martini and the Tamarindo Cocktail do not disappoint. Both have that deep Smokey Mezcal essence, but cut with the fruit sweetness. I personally think the Tamarindo balances well with the Mezcal. The Guava Martini the Mezcal comes through stronger, but both are just the tonic to release any existential pinging going on in your head. If you really want to kick in the hyperdrive pair either of these with an Elote Dog. I had their Deli Dog which sufficed. I think the Deli Dog would pair better with their standard Martini, but hey let's us not bring that snobbiness into Tallboy. Tallboy has an element of cloak and dagger or secret treehouse club about it. What I mean here is there is no signage on the outside (please keep it that way!). When you walk past all you see is this quaint beigeish/yellow brick façade of an establishment which begs you to press your face to the glass and scan what in the blazes is going on in here! Before you know it you are caught in the Tallboy tractor beam, and you find yourself sitting at the bar with some kind of craft drank and hotdog pondering the space and the very nice old fashioned wainscoting painted a shade of green circa 1930 (my description of winning in life). The cadre of bartenders are all really pleasant folk, very attentive (checking in with you to see if you need another round, hotdog, or snack), have tight shaker skills, and they know their craft and the menu. Tallboy also has SLUSHIES, and I did not do a deep dive on them, but I'm positive they may/do put spirits in them; or not. Also I noticed other patrons with a beautiful enticing thing that looked like an ice cream sundae milkshake hybrid (it had what looked like whipped cream on top) in on old timey soda fountain ice cream goblet. This could be a craft cocktail they make with the slushie, but major props for serving it in that goblet. I will investigate on my next visit which I intend to be very soon. Tallboy is the kind of bar establishment I could easily adopt as my after work living room for a couple of hours everyday.

I'm vegetarian so was so excited to try the dogs - which are vegan. And I may be biased but you cannot tell that you're missing out on anything with all the flavor packed combos. The bun was fluffy and soft and you have multiple fun themed options to choose from. My partner and I ended up getting the deli dog and truffle meltdown. Deli was perfect - classic mix of spice and crunch with the spicy brown mustard and giardiniera peppers. And the truffle meltdown was so savory and decadent - totally different flavor profiles from each dog! We were only going to grab one drink but the menu was so inventive we ended up getting two. I ordered the banana hammock (which comes with a fire show) and espresso martini slushee which was is up there with the frozen Irish coffees I've had in New Orleans. Man writing this has my mouth watering... definitely coming back for more dogs, drinks, and vibes!

The space itself is attractive, with festive music and a lively atmosphere. It looks and feels like it should be a fun place to eat. I started with a Pisco sour, which was okay. Then I ordered the pulpo a la parrilla. The octopus seemed practically raw when it arrived. I sent it back, and when it returned it was incredibly chewy and still inedible. I'm not sure if the chef was having an off night, but something was clearly wrong with the preparation. I switched to the Costillas de Chancho, BBQ pork spare ribs with mashed sweet potatoes. The plate arrived with the mashed sweet potatoes literally steaming, in a way that made them seem freshly microwaved. The waitress tried to explain that the steam was from frying the ribs, which didn't really make sense, especially since the steam was clearly coming from the potatoes. Why are BBQ ribs being fried anyway? The ribs were also extremely chewy, and the mashed sweet potatoes were bland with almost no seasoning. The waitress had specifically asked about allergies or food preferences, and I told her I didn't like onions. The replacement dish then arrived completely covered in onions. Why ask if you're going to ignore the answer? Service wasn't great either. I had to take silverware from another table because I wasn't given any, the waitress wasn't particularly attentive, and the hostess seemed like she didn't want to be there. Then, to top it all off, the check had a 3% "operations fee" added to it. I didn't see this disclosed anywhere beforehand. Adding an unexplained fee at the end of an already disappointing meal just left an even worse impression. Nice-looking space and festive atmosphere, but unfortunately that's about where the positives ended for me. Two poorly prepared dishes, inattentive service, and a surprise fee on the check. I had high expectations based on the reviews, but I would not come back.
