I came here for Oakland Restaurant Week and was blown away. The restaurant is well-decorated and gave such fun vibes. The waitress we got had great energy and was super helpful. My boyfriend and I got the special dinner prix fixe menu which allowed us to try four different dishes for less than what you would normally pay for them. Everything was so delicious but the fried plantains definitely stood out. So crunchy. So good. I was also pleasantly surprised by the portion of steak we got. The service is friendly and top notch. My review is based on the lunch I had today, 3/23/2026. Appetizers are tapas style and we ordered Ceviche (5/5) and a savory plantain dish (5/5) with three toppings, once peppery and vinegary which I love and the other two were sweeter toppings which I didn't prefer (3/5) as much. We also ate an interesting pan fried Brussels Sprouts seasoned with some sort of sugar or syrup (agave? Maple syrup?) with some kind of red looking berry that was pretty good (4/5). I normally do not like sweet and prefer savory but this was intriguing (4/5); For my main dish, I had a pork belly dish that came with shredded pork, red beans and rice and was heavy but not bad (3.5/5). I seriously can't remember the last time I found food to be this fantastic. Parche knocked this meal out of the freakin' park! We went with friends for Oakland Restaurant Week and tried everything on the menu. The fact that everyone at the table had a different favorite dish tells me all I need to know about how quality a place is. For me, my highlights were the Bruselas El Prado and the Arepa Choclo. I don't know who thought to pair brussel sprouts with a touch of sweetness, but that person is a genius. The AREPA CHOCLO OMFG. Literally the best thing I have ordered at any restaurant in AGES. Perfectly buttery, the natural sweetness from the corn, and the luscious pull of the melted farmers cheese...absolutely perfection on a plate. Service was slower than expected but the food was worth the wait! The ambience was chill and unpretentious and the space itself is well decorated. Yumyumyum!! Came in on a weekend evening sans reservation, and was luckily able to get a cozy seat in a corner near the bar. First of all, vibes are amazing. It's vibrant and upbeat and just cute and fun. So much of their menu sounded so good. We tried the plantains with slow cooked beef, beef carpaccio, chicharrons, and Brussels sprouts. Beef carpaccio was good! But in comparison to everything else it was okay (lol). Plantains were my fav and definitely add the beef!! It was so juicy and I loved the 3 different salsas you can add to your diy taco. The plantains were delightfully crispy and chewy. Perfect texture. Chicharrons came in a smaller portion than we expected, but was also really yummy. Brussels sprouts were my friend's favorite haha. This restaurant is truly a little gem of Colombia in Oakland. The service was genuinely nice and welcoming, even though I could tell they were a bit short staff and they still handled everything with grace. I absolutely loved the presentation and flavor of the salmon ceviche. It was fresh, vibrant, and beautifully plated. I also ordered an espresso martini; it was good, but I personally missed that little touch of Baileys to make it perfect. The décor is colorful, lively, and full of personality it really adds to the whole experience. The only reason I'm not giving five stars is because my steak arrived slightly cold. Upon entry I was ready for a really great experience. I love the decor, I think it lends the right combination of bohemian artistic and inspired by Colombian art. We had wanted some tapas so knew this was a shared plate situation. Ordered ceviche, brussels and the pork belly. Server "Oh oops we are out of the pork belly, for some reason they don't tell until we try to order it" (handheld) I call BS or bad management there but no biggie. I asked him to come back. I had a NA cocktail which was nice. It had a smokiness that mimicked mezcal. Ended up with the two we chose plus the lechon. At $49 I expected better. So the ceviche. Decent. Honestly a little fishy, but not spoiled just strong flavored for rock fish. No salt tho and no salt on the plantain chips... Brussels - inventive, good flavor. Lechon - unfortunately cut of pork is lean, stuffed and then cut in slices. I think then each piece put under the broiler maybe? Made for a drier then should be dish. The flavors were a bit over bearing too. Everyone was nice, hospitable, seemed to be informed and trained well. So the staff is not an issue. Everything is expensive now so I wouldn't say the prices are completely out of line or anything. Just wanted more delivery for the caliber of the place. This was my first time in Parche, and I was blown away. We had a reservation for a group of three and were welcomed and seated right away. The servers were all very helpful when describing the dishes, which made our selections both easy and difficult because everything sounded delicious. We started with ceviche and the colors and layering were so pretty I almost didn't want to eat it. All of the small bites we had were incredible. The pork belly and potatoes were probably my favorite dish. We got two shared entrees and while also very good, just didn't have the same kick as the smaller plates, but the rest of my table were head over heels for the steak! Also the drinks we tried were all fantastic! For dessert, we got a flan with ice cream and I thought I was too full for it, but it was too delicious to pass up on. We ordered Tacuma ceviche with a spicy coconut milk sauce that I could eat regularly. The plantain chips were the perfect accompaniment to eat the ceviche. We also had some delicious patacones (hand-shaped crispy plantain patties) with tropical salsa and an onion salsa. Our entrees were the branzino and bistec. Wow. We loved the atmosphere here! When we arrived there was wonderful Columbian music playing and then at one point they switched to 80s dance music for 10-15 minutes, which was awkward. Eventually, they switched it back. The food was good. We had the ceviche, empanadas, and plantain gnocchi. My favorite was the latter, it tasted a lot better than it looked. I think it's my favorite in the category of fancy-ish-restaurants-in-Oakland-that-serve-ceviche. Most recently, I went for a late birthday dinner. It seemed like the majority of other tables were also there for birthday dinners - every few minutes someone would shout out a birthday celebration. We did not inform the staff of my birthday, so I missed out on what was apparently a free cocktail (oops). Both were great, but the Amaranta won us over with its gorgeous presentation. Parche is also a vegan-friendly spot, which I love. My partner got the vegan gnocchi and immediately turned around to have me try it because the vegan sausage was so convincing that she questioned if it was actually vegan. Santa Marta Cerviche - 4/5: this was a bit on the spicy side, great flavors and good combination of ingredients. Arepa de Anis - 4/5: dipping appetizer. Mushroom was the best of all the dipping sauces. Chicharron Crispetas - 4/5: good bite size pieces of pork belly fried to crisp texture. Very good. Bistec Del Amazonas - 2/5: this was just ok. Was not as tender as I expected. Flavor was good but a bit on the chewier side. Would pass next time on this. Costilla Negra - 5/5: bone in short rib was tender and flavored perfectly. Bazurto - 4/5: we ordered this as we heard the fish were very good. Sauce was good but be prepared to debone the fish yourself. We had a dessert which as topped with cherries and a lot of cheese. Came across a good review in Yelp and decided to give this restaurant a try. This place looked pretty busy when we arrived without a reservation on Monday evening around 5:45. Luckily our party of four were able to get seated right away. The waiter told us that we had about 10 minutes to order from their happy hour menu, so we decided to order some drinks and one of each from food items menu listed. All the happy hour food items that we ordered were super delicious. The portions were good for sharing. Came for Restaurant Week during lunch and really enjoyed the food and vibes. The interior is super bright and airy - lots of plants and woven textures made for a very "tropical" vibe. The Restaurant Week menu was a set menu, so we each got a drink, appetizer and entree. Both drinks we had were super delicious (non-alcoholic). Very fruity and one of them was paired with some sparkling water, so it was very light on the palate. For the appetizers, we got Brussel Sprouts and the yucca fries. There was a tiny little pepper on the Brussels that we ended up being so obsessed with that we asked where we could buy then for our own future meals at home. The yucca fries were well cooked - nothing super exciting, but the sauce they were paired with was very delicious. Between the two entrees (the burger and the arepa con queso with chicken), I definitely preferred the arepa con queso. Typically, adding chicken is an extra cost, but it was included in the Restaurant Week menu! It is kind of like their take on chicken and waffles - except chicken and arepa. The arepa is very sweet - very corn forward and the chicken came with a sweet syrup as well. I wish there had been just a little bit of spice to balance out the overall sweetness. However, the overall flavor was good. That being said, the Restaurant Week menu was a deal for $35 each for all of the food we got - I think we would have each been out over $40 with their regular prices. However, this is not an every day kind of meal - the prices definitely merit a more special occasion. read more

Came here with a group of eight for a birthday dinner. While the service was genuinely great -- our waitress was super nice, attentive, and everyone working there was friendly -- the food experience was disappointing. To be clear, this was not about trying to spend less money. We're more than happy to spend what's needed to make sure everyone is well fed. That was never the issue. The issue was that we followed the waitress's recommendations exactly -- three large dishes, a few of medium dishes, and a 5-6 of small plates -- and I even asked before ordering if it would be enough food for the table. We were told yes. It absolutely was not. We ordered two Mojarra Frita, which are listed as large dishes, and even then each person got maybe two to three bites of fish. For the rest of the dishes, most people got one bite, if that. For a restaurant that promotes shared plates, it was honestly confusing -- where was the food? Timing also became an issue. We arrived at 5:00 pm and had tickets to a concert at 8:00 pm at the Paramount, which is literally a block away. We didn't anticipate that it would take nearly three hours for all the food to come out. Between the pacing and the portion sizes, we were left rushed and hungry. To be fair, the ceviche was very good, and the chicharrón and Mojarra Frita were tasty flavor-wise, but portion size and timing completely overshadowed the positives. The rest of the food was just okay and not particularly memorable. The drinks were strong, which was probably the highlight of the night. Overall, the staff and service were excellent, but the food portions and pacing made this a disappointing experience -- especially for a group dinner at this price point. We've been living in the United States for more than ten years, so we really appreciate finding Colombian restaurants. The moment we walked in, the ambiance was fantastic. When we sat down, the host was very nice about seating us as walk-ins and told us he was going to leave us in good hands. Turns out he really meant it. That became clear the second our server Daniel came over and greeted us. He explained that this wasn't a traditional Colombian restaurant, but a contemporary one that keeps the Colombian vibe while introducing new, modern takes on the cuisine. I had made reservations on Resy a few days prior for 7:30, but we still had to wait around 10 minutes after arriving on time to be seated. Decor is decidedly Latin and very welcoming, but service was a little standoffish. Es Por Te: rum, matcha, lime, strawberry-powdered espuma. I did not care for how medicinally sweet this tasted - to be honest, it almost gave me a cough lol. The fun stopped after the novelty of the foam. Patacones: the plantain was fried well and unsurprisingly filling, but the three accompaniments made each bite feel lighter. Favorites were the tropical salsa and onion marmalade. Pesca Samaria: great entree and worth the 15 minute additional wait. Not only was the corvina meat perfectly flaky and moist, its skin maintained a great crunch. i'm also fairly sure I fell in love with how coconut was represented in the dish, from how it imparted so much flavor to the rice to its almost vanilla-like profile in the beurre blanc with the fish. Points for the sweetness of the charred onion, crunchy sea bean (?), and fun shrimp tuile. Also a sucker for tableside pours, so yay me I suppose. I loved every bit of what was going on here. Pork belly was amazing, ceviche was fresh and gave me a nice break inbetween that and the last beef dish. As it was its first time in the menu I spoke with the chef for feedback and it was good, just wished a little thinner cut on the beef and a bit more or the citrus for my taste. We ordered all of the small shared plates (9 items in total) and two of the large plates (rib-eye and branzino). My favorites for the evening were the tumaco ceviche, caribbean salpicon, Brussels sprouts (they were basically candied), rib-eye and branzino. Posta Negra (cartagena style braised short rib, Mexican Coke, panela & spices with yuca-coconut mash): This was a hearty, appropriate way to end the meal. The yuca-coconut mash was so delicious! It was savory and sticky. The nuttiness of the coconut paired well with the subtle sweetness of the meat. I forgot the names of our drinks but I don't think you can go wrong with any of them. I did hear that Parche is a Colombian gourmet restaurant. But glad it wasn't too fancy/upscale. We ordered two plates to share: -Tumaco Ceviche: Im not a big ceviche guy.. but man this was so damn good. Fav. And looked artistic. -Ribeye del Amazonas: Nicely cut medium rare angus steak, with delicious mini diced veggies and some type of flavorful mashed potato. Very good! -Drink: La Lulada (non-alc) A bit watered down. I think they also added a hint of papaya. Which isn't my jam.. Id prefer if it was only the lulo fruit juice. Service was amazing! Came here for date night and made a resy for 8pm the night before. Parche specializes in Colombian cuisine and utilizes lots of coconut and tropical flavors. FOOD: There was a lot we wanted to try but we ended up trying: - tumaco: this is rock cod ceviche in thin coconut sauce, with Tigre leche with bell peppers and mini tomato. I really enjoyed the added milky element to this dish. The sweet tomatoes were also a great addition. - posta negra: the short rib was absolutely delicious, so tender and the perfect amount of sweetness and savory. However, I did not like the texture of the coconut mash potato, it was too chewy and thick for me. I would have preferred this dish to come with rice. - pesca Samaria: this was my favor savory dish. Love the crispiness of the skin of the fish. The fish itself was nice and tender, the white sauce perfectly compliments the dish. Loved the coconut rice too. I wish they served it with potatoes rather than the pickle onions. And the shrimp tuile was the perfect topping. - guava, mango and passionfruit sorbet: refreshing dessert, passionfruit however was EXTREMELY TART. - chocolate cake: this was divine. Perfect amalgamation of textures and flavors! SERVICE: excellent service! Our waitress Jackie was super friendly and very helpful in ordering our dishes. She was honest in telling us that 4 dishes we want would have been a little much and she was right! AMBIENCE: Like an elevated and classier rainforest cafe! Loved all the live greens. We were hungry and it was approaching the lunch hour. My 1,300 review on Yelp, and who gets the honor? Parche, of course! Excellent choice. Located in uptown Oakland on Broadway between Grand Avenue and 23rd Street. I have never been to Parche and did not know what to expect. The cuisine is Colombian, which is something new to me. My daughter dined here before and recommended it. Hmm...okay, I am willing to give this restaurant a try. I am highly impressed that the ambiance and decor are upscale and definitely eye candy. It is quite intimate, romantic, comfy and beautiful with live plants surrounding the dining area. The selections on the lunch menu are limited, and the mere description of the menu items all look wonderful and flavorful. I needed time to read that menu and then decide. My imagination has me thinking of eating something exotic and unique. Specialties: salads and ceviches, sandwiches on gluten free buns, sides (yuca fries, patacones, rice andhouse salad), crispy bites, traditional plate (their take on classics) and desserts (flan de coco and sorbet). Beverages: cocktails, nonalcoholic drinks, beer, wine. Eats: Celery root tiradito. Absolutely delicious. Shaved celery root with roasted red spicy peppers, black garlic vegan aioli, smoked green grapes and chips freano (vegan). The smoked green grapes were the bomb. I enjoyed it very much and recommend ordering this item. Colombian corn dog was on point with a gluten free cornmeal batter and the condiments. The yuca fries were crispy and not greasy, prepared to perfection. I savored the taste of those yuca fries. My daughter had the posta negra sando with yuca fries. Wow! Braised short ribs covered in Mexican coke - panela sauce, fresh tossed green topped with a chimchurri vinaigrette on a gluten free bun. Beverage: Passion fruit jasmine tea (fresh iced tea). Curious if this tea is served hot. The tea was a tad underwhelming. It could have been better. Minor drawback that does not have an impact on my five star rating. Service was excellent. The waitstaff and owner were attentive and made sure our dining experience was a pleasant one. Future visit? Definitely! So glad we decided to try this place out ! It was sooo good from the dinner cocktails, to the small plates, and the main dish, MOJARRA FRITA!!! I was so surprised by the squid ink aioli that was pared with the mango leche sauce on the ceviche; such a great paring that included fried plantain crisps !! Just a fantastic starter. But the whole fried branzinoooo cooked to perfection and a side of rice that was so flavorful. A blance of rich flavors. The art displayed and the design of the restaurant was so aesthetically pleasing. Good vibes, great service, and enjoyable music. read more
