And looked artistic. -Ribeye del Amazonas: Nicely cut medium rare angus steak, with delicious mini diced veggies and some type of flavorful mashed potato. Very good! -Drink: La Lulada (non-alc) A bit watered down. I think they also added a hint of papaya. Which isn't my jam.. Id prefer if it was only the lulo fruit juice. Service was amazing! Came here for date night and made a resy for 8pm the night before. Parche specializes in Colombian cuisine and utilizes lots of coconut and tropical flavors. FOOD: There was a lot we wanted to try but we ended up trying: - tumaco: this is rock cod ceviche in thin coconut sauce, with Tigre leche with bell peppers and mini tomato. I really enjoyed the added milky element to this dish. The sweet tomatoes were also a great addition. - posta negra: the short rib was absolutely delicious, so tender and the perfect amount of sweetness and savory. However, I did not like the texture of the coconut mash potato, it was too chewy and thick for me. I would have preferred this dish to come with rice. - pesca Samaria: this was my favor savory dish. Love the crispiness of the skin of the fish. The fish itself was nice and tender, the white sauce perfectly compliments the dish. Loved the coconut rice too. I wish they served it with potatoes rather than the pickle onions. And the shrimp tuile was the perfect topping. - guava, mango and passionfruit sorbet: refreshing dessert, passionfruit however was EXTREMELY TART. - chocolate cake: this was divine. Perfect amalgamation of textures and flavors! SERVICE: excellent service! Our waitress Jackie was super friendly and very helpful in ordering our dishes. Located in uptown Oakland on Broadway between Grand Avenue and 23rd Street. I have never been to Parche and did not know what to expect. The cuisine is Colombian, which is something new to me. My daughter dined here before and recommended it. Hmm...okay, I am willing to give this restaurant a try. I am highly impressed that the ambiance and decor are upscale and definitely eye candy. It is quite intimate, romantic, comfy and beautiful with live plants surrounding the dining area. The selections on the lunch menu are limited, and the mere description of the menu items all look wonderful and flavorful. I needed time to read that menu and then decide. My imagination has me thinking of eating something exotic and unique. Specialties: salads and ceviches, sandwiches on gluten free buns, sides (yuca fries, patacones, rice andhouse salad), crispy bites, traditional plate (their take on classics) and desserts (flan de coco and sorbet). Beverages: cocktails, nonalcoholic drinks, beer, wine. Eats: Celery root tiradito. Absolutely delicious. Shaved celery root with roasted red spicy peppers, black garlic vegan aioli, smoked green grapes and chips freano (vegan). The smoked green grapes were the bomb. I enjoyed it very much and recommend ordering this item. Colombian corn dog was on point with a gluten free cornmeal batter and the condiments. The yuca fries were crispy and not greasy, prepared to perfection. I savored the taste of those yuca fries. My daughter had the posta negra sando with yuca fries. Wow! Braised short ribs covered in Mexican coke - panela sauce, fresh tossed green topped with a chimchurri vinaigrette on a gluten free bun. Beverage: Passion fruit jasmine tea (fresh iced tea). Curious if this tea is served hot. The tea was a tad underwhelming. It could have been better. Minor drawback that does not have an impact on my five star rating. Service was excellent. I was so surprised by the squid ink aioli that was pared with the mango leche sauce on the ceviche; such a great paring that included fried plantain crisps !! Just a fantastic starter. Parche had been on my "want to try" list since it opened and didn't disappoint! Our group of 4 got to try a number of lunchtime menu items. For appetizers, we sampled Patacones, Empanadas de Ajaico and Tumaco Ceviche, all stand-outs to me. I can't decide which I liked best, but will note that the ceviche was the most unexpected as it was coconut milk based. For mains, our friends tried Mojarra Frita (fried fish) and Posta Negra Sando (short rib sandwich). I didn't try the sandwich but the fish was outstanding and something I wouldn't hesitate to order in future. Meanwhile, my husband ordered the Arepa de Chocolo while I ordered the Arepa de Queso with a side salad. These arepas were very different and I'm glad I ordered the one I did. My arepa was topped with a perfect sunny-side up egg and served alongside the most delicious grilled vegetables while my husband's arepa was very sweet and almost dessert-like. He enjoyed it, but not sure he'd choose the same next time. Drinks were also wonderful. I couldn't resist ordering a 2nd glass of an amazing Argentinian Malbec they offered. Our only mild complaint was somewhat slow but still very gracious service in the busy but very attractive dining room. We shared the trout ceviche with squid ink and mango, basil oil and coriander oil, the cinnamon sweet brussel sprouts with fennel, and the whole fried Branzino. We even order extra rice so we could soak up the the ceviche juices. The finishing highlight though was the dessert. The Oblea Santander had all the flavors, sweet, sour, and savory. It was like large two stoopwafel cookies with shaved goat cheese, tart cherries and Carmel sauce poured on top. Unlike anything I have ever had before and I am still dreaming about it. The service was so welcoming and friendly and the music and vibe had me dancing in my seat with each bite. He wasn't very friendly or helpful for people who have never been to the establishment. Like sir help me out here. But hey he may have been having a rough day considering he was doing it all. A real hidden gem in Oakland. Oakland has so much delicious food and Parche really adds to it. It's a very elegant and sophisticated place for a take on modern Colombian food. Their brussel sprouts is a must and so is the ribeye. Brussel sprouts were different because they had a nice sweet taste to it. The space is stylish but still feels relaxed, and the team handled our large group efficiently, with solid (not exceptional) service throughout. Dessert delivered too: the coconut flan was rich, silky, and not overly sweet--definitely worth saving room for. My husband and I went to Parche for lunch this past Saturday as he had heard that it was Colombian cuisine and he wanted to check it out. The service was excellent, the young lady that helped us figure out the menu was very nice and efficient. I ordered the arepas de choclo and when they came I was confused because they looked like pancakes, however once you dig in, they are arepas. BUT, more like little pillows of goodness. You have to experience them to understand. We ordered 2 sides of Yuca frita because we just went to town with the 1st order. My husband had Posta Negra Sando and he loved. For drinks we both had Fuera de Serie and those were yummy. We are both looking forward to going back and trying other of their superb and creative dishes. Parche has been on my to-try list for quite some time now and I'm so glad I was finally able to go because it was amazing. I've personally not had much Colombian food so I can't speak to authenticity - but the food itself was great. The staff were also so friendly and helpful with their recommendations. For starters, we got the empanadas and Santa Marta ceviche. While the empanadas were good, the ceviche was our favorite. The blend of oils, aiolis, and fresh salmon were just simply delicious. For mains, we were torn between the Posta Negra and Pesca Samaria. We opted for the Posta Negra per our waitress' recommendation, and it was fantastic. The braised short rib was super tender and the sauce was perfectly balanced and not overly sweet by the Mexican Coke. We've been to Parche 5 times in the last couple of months. But tonight, we had the strangest and most off-putting experience and I'm afraid the spot we thought was our new go-to spot for friends and date nights is no longer a spot we feel comfortable going back to again. We were a party of 4 and arrived for our 6:15 reservation. Service is always really wonderful and a bit purposely slow, which makes for a really nice and leisurely night with great food and beautiful atmosphere. As soon as our dinner plates were cleared, our bill was put down on the table. Just thinking they forgot to ask us if we wanted more drinks and dessert, we playfully said, "what, no dessert?" At which point the manager for the night came over and told us that we had to leave at the one hour and 45 minute mark (1:45) and we were just about to surpass that time and short of seating us somewhere else, there was no time for dessert. We checked the reservation and subsequent emails and text reminders and no where does it state we get one hour and 45 minutes for the table. With other busy restaurants they are really clear about this and it's on all the menus and reservation links. With service slow tonight, we just barely finished plates before this all transpired. We did tell them that this is our 5th time at Parche in a short amount of time and never have we been told of a time constraint. And how much control do we have over how quickly we get our food and drink? For example, we ordered second drinks earlier on and they didn't come out until after our main dishes. Manager quickly slapped down 4 dessert menus and told us he could look into reseating us elsewhere. I got up and handed back the menus and told him we'd go somewhere else for dessert. As I was turning around to head back to my table, the manager put his hand on the small of my back and gave me a little push. I turned around in surprise and he apologized and said he was just trying to make sure I got back to my table okay. The waiter came to help us pay our bill and the manager walked over and apologized to our table for touching me. He just reiterated: "I'm sorry I put my hands on you. I was just redirecting you back to your seat." What a terrible disappointment. After paying an almost $500 bill, it really soured us for the rest of our date night. read more

I wish I was kidding but the waiter asked if we were done as I was scraping the plate, plantain in hand. I had to forfeit the remains. Crispy chicharrones were probably my favorite dish. They were paired with quite an acidic sauce and I think it really added depth to the meat. We both got into brussel sprouts from teleferic and therefore also have high expectations for them. WOW! Definitely deserves a Michelin star simply because they elevate GLUTEN FREE dining. Most restaurants including fine dining offer some gluten free items on their menu but here's the catch, in order to be free of gluten, the dish needs to stripped of most elements making it lacking in its gluten filled counterpart which then makes the dish suffer and ultimately leaves you unsatisfied because it is incomplete.
