So excited that another onigiri restaurant opened in Berkeley! They just opened this week and the menu looks the same as the other locations' menus. I got the crab triangle and spicy ahi tuna triangle which were both tasty. I wish the rice were salted as is typical for onigiri because some of my bites were a bit bland due to the lack of seasoning. Oori offers a large variety of fillings and the packaging is perfect to take home or on a picnic. Note that the seaweed and rice are not separated so their food should be eaten right away before the seaweed gets soggy. The portion size is not very large and you'd need to order at least 3 triangles for a meal, which brings the total to typical Berkeley lunch prices ($10-$20). I intend to come back and try the other menu items some time! It's quite small inside so plan to take your food to go, even after the pandemic ends. read more

Located right next to Jupiter's is this small little Japanese Rice Triangle shop that's a quick pick me up. We were starving and there was a wait to get into Jupiter's so I needed a little snack. This place closes a little early so I quickly bought 2 rice triangles, a spicy salmon and spicy pork. They made it super quickly, definitely fresh and not bad for the end of the day. Fairly priced and they take Apple Pay. Would recommend if you're on the go. Really small store front and usually for pick up, they have bar stools to eat your food quickly and I think they also sold drinks. read more

This is a pretty nice stop to grab a quick bite to go. Their ordering system is very efficient (self service iPads) and I always get my rice triangle order within 5 minutes. Like others have said, their best item is the short rib rice triangle. It's pretty unique since it's not a traditional onigiri filling, making it worth the 4+ dollars you pay for it. Each rice triangle is also pretty hefty, making it a pretty good price to volume ratio. I've tried their spicy tuna/unagi, which are alright but not notable. I wish they had some space to sit and eat, but they're pretty limited by the space of the walk in shop. read more

I was really pumped to see that a rice ball spot had opened right off of the Bart station and decided to pregame dinner with one. I LOVE rice balls. I could probably eat them every day. I'm a big fan of classic ume, but they had a ton of other flavors that looked good as well. Unfortunately, walking in, ordering, and the food itself was pretty underwhelming. There were two people working, who grunted at me to order on the touchscreen when I said hi to them. I did and got my food quickly. the food is good but the staff is VERY VERY UNFRIENDLY... one of the guys at the college location is very nice helpful will speak to you. Most of the young women will not even speak or look at you. The food inspector needs to visit this place. I have experienced food poisoning on two different occasions after eating here.

We love Oori and have been regulars for the last few years. We usually place pickup orders in the Solano location but unfortunately and by mistake, we sent the order to the Berkeley location using their website. We called them to see how could we get help on this and were wondering if we could cancel the order but unfortunately no help at all and the guy just said on the phone...."no, you cannot cancel anything, your order is ready and we can not do anything because you used an application and it is a big order" and the guy abruptly hang up the phone. Quite an attitude but even though we though it was very rued from them, we were OK to go to Berkeley and pick up our order because we had paid already for the food but when we got there, they told us that they had threw our food in the garbage because they thought no one will show up to pick our order. We asked the guy to make our order again and he the guy seemed bothered and not very happy with this but he finally agreed to do it. At this point we were so mad and disappointed, we were OK to go all the way to Downtown Berkeley and deal with parking and traffic but on top of that, we had to deal with rude staff and bad customer service. What a way to ruin your evening. I understand I cannot cancel my order because it was already placed, but please, don't be rude and don't throw my order to the garbage. Customer service and communication is really bad at this location. Don't order for pickup, they are going to throw your order in the garbage if you don't pickup within 20 minutes. read more

I looooooove this place. I recently started working in the area and noticed a line out the door at lunch time. When I passed by later the line was gone so I went in to give it a shot. It's a tiny little hole in the wall, no seating, and there are tablets to place your order on rather than talking to a cashier. But the guys in the back made my food quick and it is DELICIOUS. I usually get three onigiri - the cubed tuna, the unagi (eel), and the shortrib. Each filling is delicious and you get a lot of it in addition to a side of edamame. Highly recommend if you are passing by and want a quick snack or you want to make a meal of it! read more
