Can't believe I never reviewed Sliver! I came here as a student when it used to be Pieology, and I believe it was taken over by Sliver during my last couple of years of undergrad. Great place to come for quality pizza if I don't want to head all the way to Cheeseboard in Gourmet Ghetto. When I come here for concerts at UC Theatre, I like stopping by here to grab at least a slice to get me pumped for shows. Glad to see Sliver still here! read more

This review is for the guy working Friday 2/20/26 at 3:15pm. Been coming here for years but the attitude from this one employee is enough for me to not come back to this location anymore. Placed my pickup order on DoorDash at 2:25pm. Went to store to pick up 2:40pm. The first guy was nice, he put my pizza into the oven and said it'll be ready in 5min. So I went next door to order a drink from heytea and came back around 3:05ish. Told the new guy I'm picking up my DoorDash order. Not sure why this guy got offended out of nowhere and bursted out "I don't know, I just took over now." Okayyyy. Then he proceeds to do everything else. I wasn't even upset at this point because I'm thinking my order is probably in the oven and will be coming up in another 5min. After a few more minutes of seeing he do everything else other than my order, I followed up and asked, do you know how long more my order will be, I placed my order 40min ago...and he literally told me it'll be two hours!! That's when I got upset and started rushing him. My order came first, shouldn't you do mine first. The three other ppl that were waiting ordered 5-10min ago. AND THEY WERE NOT BUSY AT ALL. When he finally gave me my order, I asked for sauce and instead of giving me the prepackaged small ones that they literarily have behind the counter, he pointed me to the sauce bar with the empty container. I told him it's empty, he just told me to wait and help the next customer AND WHEN THE NEXT CUSTOMER ASK FOR SAUCE HE GAVE HER THE PREPACKAGED ONES. THATS WHEN I LOOK AT HIM LIKE WTF AND HE GAVE ME MY SAUCE AND I FINALLY WAS ABLE TO LEAVE!! CAN'T BELIEVE A MAN AT HIS AGE CAN HAVE SO MUCH ATTITUDE AND SENSITIVITY AND BE SO MEAN AT THE SAME TIME. The HYPE around Sliver is REAL! Whenever I go to Berkeley, I always get excited to get some Sliver Pizza! It's so freaking good! Food - The Pizza's are one of a kind, you will not find anything like these pizzas no where else. They only serve one kind of pizza a day and the flavors change daily "The Pizza of the Day" but you can't go wrong with any of the pizzas, they are all Delicious. I've tried them all and they all have the perfect combination of toppings every time. All pizzas smell and taste amazing along with the thin crusty breading and oozing cheese and that green sauce they serve with all pizzas... addictive. Service - I've been coming to this location for the past three years and every time, Luis has helped me. Luis has been nothing but AMAZING!!! Always providing excellent customer service and has always greeted my family and me with a smile. Luis makes you feel welcomed and makes every interaction personal, I've notice that he makes it a priority to remember all his customers. Sliver has multiple locations around the area but they only have Luis at this one location, that's where I will always go no matter the distance. THANK YOU LUIS!!! Used to eat at the Sliver Pizzeria over on Telegraph when I lived in Berkeley, and am way overdo for a review. Stopped in to the Sliver on Shattuck before a Watchhouse concert at the UC Theater. The pizza of the day had corn, zucchini, yellow onions, mozzarella, French feta cheese, cilantro, garlic, olive oil and limes. The pizza had great tang from the limes with a nice saltiness from the feta cheese. I love the green sauce, which complemented the flavors of the pizza very nicely. The red sauce's spiciness also complemented and provided a nice heat to the salty and tangy pizza. Overall, this place is a super good value considering you can get a whole pie for $28. Definitely recommend checking out their pizzas of the day! read more

Haven't had their pizza for a while so I thought I'd give it a go. To my surprise there was absolutely no one in the restaurant so the service was very quick. The restaurant is very clean and well appointed. Located in a busy and walkable area of Berkeley. The pizza was ready straight away but I'll be honest, is that a good thing when it appears they have no business? How fresh was it?! Took it home and it was okay. I do think it's been sitting for a wee bit but wasn't cold or hard. So that's a plus! The flavor was good and their green sauce was yummy! I liked they were very generous with their sauce for no extra charge. What I didn't like is that the crust on about 1/4 of the pizza was so thin it was too crispy and browned. read more

The best pizza I've ever had in my entire life. Insane prices too, only four bucks a piece. I literally come here at least twice a week, it's my life. The music is always awesome too, playing like 80s stuff or awesome stuff in Spanish, such good vibes. But my second favorite thing--besides the amazing pizza and the green sauce that genuinely makes you wonder what magical secret ingredient they put in it to make it taste so good--is the super kind people that work there. I finally understand the Slivers hype! It might sound odd to have a pizza shop that only offers one flavor per day, but these flavors are awesome! I was lucky enough to be visiting for their legendary potato pizza. It includes goat cheese, baby kale, and a delicious white sauce. I couldn't get enough, it wasn't overly oily or heavy and left me feeling so satisfied. Pizzas come with their special ""green sauce"" which was kind of like a mint chimichurri. This was a great compliment to the already delicious pizza. ‍ This specific location has plenty of inside seating, I was ordering my box to go. I love how they give you two extra slivers of pizza on top of the full size, I ate them as I walked to my destination! Service was so friendly and warm, I had a lovely experience. The sliver pizza here is not as good as the other locations I've been to based on the texture of the pizza. Affordable price and green and red sauce are delicious to go with the pizza. The texture of the pizza was almost like cardboard, which I've noticed sliver pizza turns when it turns cold. When it's fresh it usually is nice, hot, and cheesy. I didn't get a cheese pull when I bit into the pizza. I also don't like how sliver sauce cups are super tiny now. read more

Walking the Berkley campus and heard that this is one of the frequented chill pizza places in the area. ATMOSPHERE: This place feels like the quintessential college pizza place with metal chairs and a concrete interior. You order at the front and pick up your food once it's ready. It felt great to eat in that environment and just have a chill time. FOOD: We got a half order of the pizza of the day. It was delicious. The crust was thin and crispy. They add "slivers" of extra pizza on top that were a bit chewy and stale (not super fresh compared to the rest of the pizza) but I was so hungry I actually just appreciated the extra food. The green sauce is a must try, basically has a cilantro lime flavor. SERVICE: Casual dining - order at the front, and the food is prepared quickly. PRICE/VALUE: Good amount of pizza for the price! I almost feel silly writing a review because Sliver is such an iconic establishment but here we are as this review is long overdue. I stopped by their Downtown Berkeley location on a recent visit to the East Bay. The last time I visited was at their old location on Center Street. The new restaurant next to the BART station is much more spacious inside compared to the last one but a part of me was sad to see the long outdoor wooden tables in front were no more. The pizza is still incredible and am glad to see some things haven't changed over the years. My favorite, the corn pizza was on the menu that day (thank goodness). I honestly would have no problem downing an entire half (or even a whole pizza) here. Also, the cilantro sauce on the side is absolutely amazing I could almost drink it. Also, just fyi the dairy free pizzas are only sold by the pie and not the slice. read more

It's crunchy on the edges and soft otherwise. Best served with their in-house pesto. Service is always quick and they're happy to customize pizzas for you in case you'd like something more or less (dependent on ingredient availability of course), and always consistent in taste. I ordered ahead online for the Shattuck location for the pizza of the day, which was corn, pineapple, chile pasilla, mozzarella, french feta cheese, cilantro-lemon zest, and garlic olive oil. You can order online for pickup either on their website or on DoorDash, either way the prices are the same (in fact it appears they're using the DoorDash client for Sliver's own online ordering). The only catch is that you can only order ahead a whole pizza and you cannot order a half pizza, a slice, or a sliver. I'm still glad I did because I was able to skip the long line at noon from the lunch rush. I only saw two people working the front but they were doing a good job with handling the long line. The workers included a complimentary bag with small amounts of sauces. The pizza itself was delicious, I personally do like pineapple on pizza, and it was warm and had plenty of thick, flavorful cheese, so great for any dairy lovers. I didn't find the cilantro-lemon zest to be overpowering (but I'm also not someone who finds the taste of cilantro intensely negative). Though they apparently used chile pasilla, it was not enough for me to find the pizza spicy at all. They also included slivers which is great since when I've gone to a few other Sliver locations like the Oakland Uptown and Montclair, they unfortunately did not throw in any slivers when you order a whole pizza, but this might just be a reflection that these non-Berkeley locations receive lower traffic and actually bake the pizzas to order instead of having to mass prepare a bunch to handle the lunch or dinner rush. The Shattuck location does have a couple of outdoor tables. There are also some other free tables in the downtown Berkeley BART plaza, but the chairs tend to be popular around noon. read more

Receipts aren't checked, so anybody can walk in off the street and act like they ordered. It didn't appear to me that they recalled who was who, especially when it got busy. So be alert if it is busy when you place your order. The ambiance was as one would expect for a pizza place on Shattuck. The music was nice. They had a great play list going. The hype from locals may have impacted my 4 stars vs 5, but I just appreciate how quickly the line passes. We ordered the half pizza and that day, they had tomato pesto. They gave us a couple extra pieces of it as well. That could be just how they normally operate? Not sure, but I'm not complaining. :) We arrived right around 1:00pm before the rush of people came and we waited 5 minutes to order and 10 minutes for the pizza, so very quick. There's quite a lot of seating available and we had no trouble finding one right away even though it was busy. Don't forget to get the extra sauce! It was so good.
