I wish we had one in WA! I ate here twice during my 5-day stay in Berkeley. I almost never choose the same spot twice when traveling...so choosing to eat here 2x was a big nod from me that the first impression was a good one. When I want a hearty salad that's convenient from now on, I will daydream about MIXT. There are a variety of well-thought toppings, protein, and flavors with their set bowls but you can also build your own. I also like that they let you decide how light or heavy to dress your bowl. Service both times was quick and friendly. Their agua frescas were so refreshing! 5/5 for their fried cauliflower with green sriracha (which is more like a cilantro crema situation - so good!) I knock one star because as expected, these salads are not cheap. Granted, one salad bowl can be split into more if you're not a big eater. I supposed you're also paying for quality - everything was fresh! Ambiance was bright, clean, and quiet. I saw some students studying. When back in the area, MIXT is a reliable choice for me to get some tasty fiber. read more

10/10/26- I usually come in on Saturdays and its not busy. Good variety of salads. Had the Soba salad. Every green and vegi is fresh. Salads made right in front of you. Drinks aérea canned water, sparklibg water, diet coke, and coke. As well as some fresh juices. There is a free water dispenser at the counter. It took a little while to place my order because I went in during the lunch rush. I ordered the Smokey sandwich. For the price, the sandwich was quite small, but it was tasty. The bread was soft, the smokiness was definitely there, and the ingredients tasted fresh. I just wish the price weren't so high for such a small sandwich! While I love the Harvest Bowl from sweetgreen, I have a new warm, rice bowl/salad that is my go-to for these hybrid hot/cold days. The Bachan's Bowl from MIXT is heavenly and everything this mom-on-the-run needs. This bowl comes with fried chicken for the protein, which pairs perfectly with the Bachan's Japanese Barbecue Sauce drizzle. There is also avo, edamame, cucumber, radishes, cabbage, arugula, cilantro lime brown rice, and a ginger sesame drizzle...I don't think I left anything out. Chef's kiss! I can't speak to eating at MIXT or the ambiance inside because this location is a bit too hectic for me with parking to eat inside, so I normally just do MIXT on food delivery day/evenings. Even with delivery though my bowl has always been spot on with no missing ingredients and fulfilling to the max. I love this wave of warm bowls made fresh to order because they're so satisfying and filled with lotsa good stuff. You can also design your own bowl or choose from a variety of menu salads, sandwiches, sides, and make sure to grab a choco chip sea salt cookie...delish! Pricing is fair for the quality and quantity ~ would love to eat on location, but Shattuck Ave. doesn't make it easy. Walked in and was helped after a while which was fine and making the salad was pretty quick. I had to get in and out and I think I was out in under 10 minutes at 1:40pm on a workday. Salad wasn't as fresh as I'd hoped for this price point. Greens are getting soft and thin which is a sign of dehydration. Avocados used are browning as they're pre cut without vitamin C they'll brown. I did like that they sprinkled a little cuts of basil on top of the salad based on the recipe but it was very minimal and a little more would have gone a long way. read more

I have now visited this MIXT location twice. My friend and I came in for free meals during the Berkeley Friends & Family Preview Event, and most recently, I had a reward in the app that was good for $7 off. There are definitely some positives at MIXT. I like the tasty options and the container they use for your salad. I also like that the staff is patient and friendly. It is a solid meal. The reason I'm not a regular is that I feel it is way more expensive than I think is reasonable for a salad that size. I can't imagine a scenario where I would be willing to pay full price here. Even when I have a reward and pay less, I try to make it last for 1.5 or two meals -- which can be tough since the portion is not huge. This time around, I tried the Pacifica Crispy Chicken Bowl. It has quality ingredients: RightRice + cabbage, crispy chicken, cotija cheese, pumpkin seeds, cherry tomatoes, black beans, fresh herbs, cilantro jalapeño vinaigrette, and chipotle honey drizzle. The staff kindly gave me extra dressing when I asked for it. At $13.95 before tax, it isn't too bad -- but it ain't cheap. Several of the salads on the menu are $15.95 or more before tax. This of course does not include adding a cookie or a drink or leaving a tip. Since I make salads at home all the time, it's just hard to feel like MIXT is worth the time and money. read more

Got Bachan's bowl and I was happily surprised with the portion size and taste. Definitely prefer it over some of the other healthy/salad places around like sweetgreen or Tender Greens. The menu looks great, however the beet salad i ordered heavy on the arugula, and not sure if the staff knows what arugula is SUPPOSED to look like, but my salad was full of hard arugula STEMS, they were like little sticks or toothpicks in my salad, and by the time I was halfway thru my salad, I had picked out 20+ of these hard stems! Sorry but that isn't supposed to happen, and IMO that means quality control both from the produce supplier and at the location is like ZERO, not happening. Nor do I believe the manager on duty, who said that was the First Time it ever happened, but didn't even go to inspect the bowl or bag of arugula when I showed her the pile of sticks I'd pulled out of my mouth and salad. I think they just don't give a sh!t. I can't see paying $15 for a salad with sticks in it. After being loyal longtime customers and spending a lot of money there weekly between friends and family, my wife was denied the use of the restroom, simply because she didn't purchase something on this day. To add insult to injury, she was denied in a very dismissive and disrespectful manner. I can appreciate the spirit of their rule, but it's ridiculous that they apply that to regular paying customers. Especially when non-paying customers that never purchase anything simply wait for someone to come out of the restroom and just go in after them, instead of requesting a code.
