Jings chili crisp (L) crispy cauliflower (R)
    Diane L.

This review is based on a take out order that I had. It was Jings chili crisp salad with blackened chicken as the protein. The salad was packed full of veggies, bell pepper, edamame, avocado, carrots...i loved the crunch from the wonton crisps! It was delicious and filling. I had some leftover for later. I also liked the crispy cauliflower, they serve it with sriracha ranch, that was green in color and so tasty...I've never had green sriracha? The food is fresh, the portions are hearty and I will return whenever I'm looking to fill up on real food and lots of veggies!

MIXT is located in the center of downtown Berkeley on Shattuck. It is tucked into a strip of other businesses and has some outdoor seating that is open to the public. MIXT also has a decent amount of indoor seating. When I walked in, the individuals working the counter were welcoming and friendly. It took a little while to place my order because I went in during the lunch rush. I ordered the Smokey sandwich. For the price, the sandwich was quite small, but it was tasty. The bread was soft, the smokiness was definitely there, and the ingredients tasted fresh. I just wish the price weren't so high for such a small sandwich! I would try MIXT again and maybe order a salad (they looked large!).

    BACHAN'S BOWL
    Gina G.

While I love the Harvest Bowl from sweetgreen, I have a new warm, rice bowl/salad that is my go-to for these hybrid hot/cold days. The Bachan's Bowl from MIXT is heavenly and everything this mom-on-the-run needs. This bowl comes with fried chicken for the protein, which pairs perfectly with the Bachan's Japanese Barbecue Sauce drizzle. There is also avo, edamame, cucumber, radishes, cabbage, arugula, cilantro lime brown rice, and a ginger sesame drizzle...I don't think I left anything out. Chef's kiss! I can't speak to eating at MIXT or the ambiance inside because this location is a bit too hectic for me with parking to eat inside, so I normally just do MIXT on food delivery day/evenings. Even with delivery though my bowl has always been spot on with no missing ingredients and fulfilling to the max. I love this wave of warm bowls made fresh to order because they're so satisfying and filled with lotsa good stuff. You can also design your own bowl or choose from a variety of menu salads, sandwiches, sides, and make sure to grab a choco chip sea salt cookie...delish! Pricing is fair for the quality and quantity ~ would love to eat on location, but Shattuck Ave. doesn't make it easy. Normally I don't review chains, but I appreciate businesses that have a great mission to provide better and to be better nourishing their customers, employees, community, and worldly.

    Chicken Caesar with Xtra avo
    Mikey M.

$35 for a salad that was mid at best. I'm not even gonna waste characters describing how tragic that "Caesar" was. The chicken? Flavorless. The atmosphere was all vibes, it was Nice. The service? Was good. The salad? Straight-up dumpster. How do you mess up a Caesar?? It's literally lettuce, dressing. Save your coin and your taste buds hit Chipotle or grab a $5 premade from Walmart. at least that one won't break your heart and your wallet. Mixt, I love the aesthetic but c'mon... Do better . If you want an actually good Caesar, go to Mendocino. They understood the assignment. The good salad in Campbell is as well.

    Mediterranean Bowl
    Reeven S.

I am never a salad person, like ever. However, the Mediterranean Bowl I had here was so delicious, it's literally the only salad bowl I've truly enjoyed. To give some background on how I was convinced to go here: My friend and I were originally looking for a cafe nearby where we could have our interview-esque conversation, but the cafes were extremely busy and crowded or just not convenient. So, we decided to go to Mixt. We had already eaten lunch, but since we were going to sit there, we decided to share a salad - the Mediterranean Bowl. We tried it and eventually fell in love with it. We postponed our activity to enjoy the delicious bowl of salad - totally deserving of 5/5. The texture from the walnuts was my favorite! The variety of flavors in this salad (the sweetness and sourness of the currants, the savory grilled chicken, and the acidity of the pickled red onions) was a great mix. I enjoyed every bite, and I definitely will be coming back!

Pacifica Crispy Chicken Bowl (I added a little red pepper when I got home)
    David S.

I have now visited this MIXT location twice. My friend and I came in for free meals during the Berkeley Friends & Family Preview Event, and most recently, I had a reward in the app that was good for $7 off. There are definitely some positives at MIXT. I like the tasty options and the container they use for your salad. I also like that the staff is patient and friendly. It is a solid meal. The reason I'm not a regular is that I feel it is way more expensive than I think is reasonable for a salad that size. I can't imagine a scenario where I would be willing to pay full price here. Even when I have a reward and pay less, I try to make it last for 1.5 or two meals -- which can be tough since the portion is not huge. This time around, I tried the Pacifica Crispy Chicken Bowl. It has quality ingredients: RightRice + cabbage, crispy chicken, cotija cheese, pumpkin seeds, cherry tomatoes, black beans, fresh herbs, cilantro jalapeño vinaigrette, and chipotle honey drizzle. The staff kindly gave me extra dressing when I asked for it. At $13.95 before tax, it isn't too bad -- but it ain't cheap. Several of the salads on the menu are $15.95 or more before tax. This of course does not include adding a cookie or a drink or leaving a tip. Since I make salads at home all the time, it's just hard to feel like MIXT is worth the time and money.

    bachan's bowl
    Lilian X.

Been holding off on trying this place since I typically find it hard to justify spending money on salad, but finally decided to give it a shot. Got Bachan's bowl and I was happily surprised with the portion size and taste. Definitely prefer it over some of the other healthy/salad places around like sweetgreen or Tender Greens. Plus, there's a $5 coupon when you order for the first time so the meal didn't end up being too expensive. I did take out, but the inside is very cute and clean, and the staff is friendly as well.

    DESIGN YOUR OWN SALAD
    Ashley S.

i'd describe this salad bar like a mix of sweetgreen and cava! the interior is a sleek design with plenty of seating. i made my own salad, and i loved the fried cauliflower!! i like how they have unique toppings like caramelized onions and falafel crumbs!! there are so many dressings to choose from as well! it's a big portion, and i like how you can count the calories if you place an order online. it is a shame that the oil seeps through the bowl super easy, so be careful!

    Lesley C.

My salad had a whole chicken bone in it which granted I added crispy chicken but was not expecting that and it totally could have been a choking hazard or broken my tooth lol I usually love this place so a little disappointed:/

    DAVE'S TACO BOWL
    Benjamin R.

I'm glad I tried this place because the Dave taco bowl was delicious! But $16 for a salad was way too expensive for such affordable ingredients! I definitely recommend trying this dish if you like something healthy and hot!

Both are great, but I like Poke Bar more as I feel you get more protein and food for the price, super fresh fish (cut smaller than Wow, but feels like I am getting more, plus I have the option of asking for tofu as an option!). I love all of the add-ins (fried garlic goes great with fish and is so good without being too overpowering, far less overpowering than fried onions), the sauces are great, I like being able to have brown rice without being charged extra (ahem, Wow Lemonade ;) ), the seaweed salad is delicious and the food was so good that right after I took the first bite I made an audible sound and rolled my eyes it was so good. I had to be chill about it, but dang, Poke Bar rocks! I also like that it is a tiny bit more affordable, and you get more food for the price. So much food that I wasn't able to finish my medium-sized bowl. Only detractor is that I wish their krab was krab salad and not just krab. And I wish that as far as two sides go, that I could get two sides of krab and just mix in one of their sauces and some wasabi and make my own krab salad. Only negative about the place is that they don't offer bags with handles, just regular brown smaller grocery bags. So, if they stepped it up a notch and had branded bags I think that would help to promote their business more since they are located in a somewhat out-of-the-way spot. Definitely come and check this place out. Super fast service, okay seating, great, great, GREAT fresh fish, and such an umami flavor. Tip: get a mix of white and brown rice to make it a tad bit healthier and get some more fiber (if you don't want to go fully salad style and get greens. Though the exterior of…read morethe restaraunt is unassuming, and the building itself is quite small with limited seating, the interior is still very clean and neat, and the workers are very nice. I placed an online order for the C Chicken Momos and the Garlic Cheese Naan, which were both phenomenal. The naan was some of the best I've ever had. It was so fluffy, thick, and pillowy soft, and was not overly charred/thin or too crispy like other naan. Just pure doughy goodness. There was also a perfect amount of cheese filling--enough that you got the subtle kick of milky acidity, but not too overpowering. The naan itself was also not too greasy, and the garlic flavor was very aromatic. You could also taste a hint of the slight tartness from (I'm assuming) the yogurt used to make the naan. The "C" Chicken Momos came with eight large pieces, which is definitely enough to fill you up. The sauce tasted like a classic sweet-and-sour sauce with a very mild and pleasant spice. Also, because the dumplings were fried, they were crispy despite being covered in sauce, but still had a bit of the nice chew you would get from a steamed momo skin. The fillings themselves were also super flavorful: you get a herbal and fresh taste from the ginger, which balanced the tanginess of the sauce so the meal did not feel too heavy, and the subtle nuttiness and pepperiness of cumin in each bite. The dumplings also had some warm broth in them, which is perfect for a cold day. The prices are fair too. You can often find small discounts on Snackpass or delivery apps like GrubHub. Needless to say, I will definitely be coming back. Totally recommend!
