We asked Google to recommend a place with Italian style pizza and State Flour Pizza came up. We asked owner if they were Italian style and owner honestly said it was more NY crispy style. We gave it a try and order Burrata and Hunter. Burrata really stood out: the cheese was so fresh and it melt into my mouth together with the fragrance of basil. Simple yet delicious. Hunter was tasty as well but a bit too acidic for me. We then got the coconut mochi as dessert. I didn't taste much coconut though. Overall the food was great! The wait time was a little longer than expected but hey the food was so fresh and it was surely made on the spot!

Our new favorite pizza spot on this side of the bay! The Chloe was absolutely delicious, also appreciated the square cut. Full of flavor, good amount of veggies and sauce. Will be back again soon. Got take out and pizza was ready and hot by the time we got there.

I'm definitely a snob when it comes to pizza. Particularly in California, I feel like it's a rule that there is no good pizza in the state. However, I was really pleasantly surprised at how great State Flour was. Came with a ~15 minute wait, and the place was for sure packed, but it was a very positive experience, and I see why it's so loved. Would return!

I love this pizza a lot. My favorite is the margarita square. The Gaia is great too and their mushroom is yummy, but I love a plain pizza that is delicious. The bread is so light and airy and crispy on the square pizza. Service is fast, and they have a beautiful upstairs area to enjoy the pizza and look over the restaurant. I will drive back out sometime to enjoy more of this.

Take the warmth of a local community-run kitchen, add in some killer flavors and textures, sprinkle on some coziness from the ample mood lighting and you've got the magic that is State Flour Pizza. I don't think I could've asked for a better experience at State Flour Pizza Co, and that includes the 30 minute wait time for a table. This is the kind of place that hires the neighborhood teens in the summers while still taking the time to source all fresh ingredients. Consensus for favorite was split between the mushroom-sausage and green goddess pizzas, but the margherita and hot honey pepperoni were almost as good. Apple salad gave some much needed freshness to the table. This pizza place is as perfect for a family dinner as it is for a first date, and is just as likely to have a table of college friends as it is a post-conference debrief. That's because it's designed for the community, so it attracts the community.

Very best pizza since leaving NYC and New Haven 38 years ago. Wonderful crumb in crust and delicious toppings. Salad was perfect. Chef told they even do slices at lunchtime. What a find. !!

One of my favorite new places I've tried in Berkeley!! Both pizzas were great with unique toppings and a lot of flavor. Personal fav was the Darcy because the red sauce was so good with the pickled onions and cherry tomatoes. The crust was perfectly thin and crispy on both. Our waiter was super friendly and attentive and made great suggestions. The inside is small but has an upper level so it was a decent amount of seating for a college Ave restaurant. Definitely coming back to try more and to try their wine!!

DELICIOUS. I took a bite before the photo

The best pizza I've had so far. Tried margherita and mushroom slices. Perfect crusts without any burnt black bottoms. Most places tend to burn their crusts and I dislike eating the bottoms of pizza that are burnt or over done. Small simple clean place that has perfected the thin crust pizza. Will definitely return!

I have been coming to state flour for years now and I always leave happy with a full stomach. It's a small restaurant but they have a good amount of seating. Their staff is attentive and quick which I appreciate. I've mainly tried their red sauce pizzas which I think are very good. Most recently I tried their special for that week which was a pepperoni pizza with a drizzle of vodka sauce. It was very tasty and I'm definitely going to be back again!

Yummmy!! Can't remember what it was called. :)

I finally decided to go inside and think I went a little crazy with ordering.. As you get inside, there are 2 kiosks that you can order on and the ordering process is pretty simple. I got all my food to-go and the wait was about 10 mins or less, so pretty quick! The service was awesome as well! The guy saw me struggling trying to carry all the food, drinks, and my IPad (I got stuff from the gas station prior) and he offered to help and put my drinks in this holder. I ordered the Tiger brown sugar milk tea w/ boba pearls, Hot Cheetos Half N Half corn dog (comes with choice of dipping, I got mustard), 8 piece fried dumplings (comes with soy sauce), fruity pebbles mochi donut, and the strawberry and banana nutella croffle. The milk tea was super good, could never go wrong with a brown sugar milk tea! The hot Cheetos corn dog was crispy and super good as well, however I wish I had eaten it when it was still hot to get that cheese pull... the fried dumplings were crispy and delicious. The fruity pebbles mochi donut was really soft and chewy (in a good way) and had the flavor of a glazed donut. Also the cereal tasted fresh! The strawberry/ banana Nutella croffle was so delicious and tasted like a strawberry/ banana waffle. I think this one had to be my fave. Overall, I paid a little under $40 with tip for all the food and I would definitely go again!

Their sandwiches are probably what first got me hooked. The bread is so good, with a chewy inside and a nice crust, and the fillings are always fresh and flavorful. The combinations are also really well thought out. From there, I started working my way through the rest of the menu. I've had their Kouign Amann, Quiche Lorraine, croissants, baguette, Sourdough Batard, Sunflower Rye Spelt, pretzel buns (you can probably tell I'm a bread person), pies, seasonal radicchio salad, and passionfruit madeleines. Their seasonal radicchio salad has actually become one of my favorites to take to work for lunch. I also love that they rotate the Kouign Amann flavors, so there's usually something new to try whenever I stop by. I've enjoyed almost everything I've had here. One pie was a little too sweet for me personally, but that's really the only thing that comes to mind. I also really like the presentation and the atmosphere. The pastry case always looks beautiful and tempting, and the space feels relaxed and welcoming. It's easy to pop in and grab something, but it's also a nice place to meet friends for coffee and something sweet. The prices feel very reasonable for the quality, which is another reason I keep coming back. More than anything, I just really enjoy having Starter Bakery in the area. It's become one of my neighborhood go-to spots, and I always seem to find another reason to stop by.

The ambiance is wonderful - I absolutely love the deep blue color scheme, the cute matching mugs, and gorgeous plants. They have a lot of different pastry choices, but unfortunately, there was only one vegan option: a tiny hazelnut sweet bread. I ordered the bread along with an Americano. When I tried to take the pastry out of the package to share it with my girlfriend, it completely crumbled into a big mess. I went up to the counter to let them know, and the employee told me it was actually meant to be eaten straight from the package. She mentioned it was on the drier side being vegan, she took the crumbled mess and gave me a new one but it ended up having the exact same issue. It wasnt dry, but it just wouldn't hold any moisture and was far too crumbly to eat. For $5, this tiny pastry was a major letdown. To make the interaction weirder, she took the original crumbled bread back from me and I'm only assuming threw it away, which felt entirely unnecessary. Having been vegan for nine years, I've had some truly amazing, moist vegan baked goods, so this was incredibly disappointing. While the vibe and aesthetic are great, the vegan options were major letdown. CC accepted Restroom available

They own an apartment in Paris and I didn't want to offend them with my usual guerrilla tactics. I'm known to fight dirty and conspire with others during this game and everybody hates me because of it, and I didn't want to be banned from their apartment, as Paris in the fall is lovely. Thus my journey with Walter began. One thing about me, is I respect a place that knows flavors. I don't want basic vanilla, give me some weird and strange and flavorful that will tantalize my palette and ignite my senses. Give me salty and sweet. Give me TANG. Give me these things and DONT give me gas. Bad Walters cracked the code. All flavor, real dairy, no lactose, no gas. Each week they have a different batch of flavors, so there's always something new to explore. There's like 6 flavors to choose from at once and they let me try them all before I selected my choice hehe. I tried to sample 6 flavors at Cold Stone and they took me out back and shot me, but here, nobody was mean to me. Mr. Potatohead is the flavor I landed on--brown sugar custard with peanut butter swirl and chocolate covered potato chips. The chunks of chocolate covered potato chips were lodged in the ice cream and I felt like an archaeologist excavating ancient rocks as my spoon lifted the potato chocolate chunks out of the creamy custard into my mouth. I bought a pint. The Mick Jagger was another joy, with its salty caramel and Oreo chunks. They're lucky Peaches Christ was sold out because I might've lost my mind for a peach cobbler ice cream! The flavors are also very fun, not your typical cookies and cream, cookie dough, etc. Although they do have a plain version sometimes. The employees are very helpful and kind letting you sample the flavors. Our absolute favorite is tinky winky- ube flavored ice cream with honey comb pieces. They also sell points to the side- take advantage. You'll want more when you're done! The ambiance and vibe of bad Walter's is perfect. Bright colors, disco ball dripping, fun sayings on the cups, the whole 9 yards. The take home pint we got has Reddit "hate" comments and their responses, it's hilarious. This ice cream store is way more of a vibe than any marketing agent could dream of. Who would've thought I wish I could be a rep for an ice cream company? Oh and they also do a stamp card when you buy pints to get a free scoop. You bring in the containers so they can recycle them. It's a win win for both sides, loves it. Best ice cream ever!!!
