I tried North Beach Pizza recently and I'm honestly a little obsessed. We got the Dolores Park pizza but swapped the bacon for chicken and it was SO good. It had hot honey and ricotta and I was literally obsessed with the cheese. The cheese pull was insane and the flavors worked so well together. It was so good that I didn't even feel the need to use ranch, which says a lot for me. We also got the sampler platter and I loved the calamari and the chicken wings. Everything tasted really fresh and super satisfying. We ordered the fettuccine prawns too and they were insanely good. I seriously can't stop thinking about them. The place itself is really fun too. It's super close to campus and they have a sports bar vibe with bocce ball which makes it such a cute spot to hang out with friends. I already want to go back. read more

I Have only ever had North Beach at work for company events. Everyone seems to love it. Quality pizza, tastes very fresh with a Good cook on the pizza. People I work with go nuts for the north beach pie. It's really popular at the lab as I see a lot of people order from here. I've never actually been to the restaurant. Pizza is solid and if I'm ever in Berkeley for something other than work I'd stop by for pizza for sure. read more

Everything was amazing! We stopped by on a random Monday night and we'll definitely be back. The decor had a vintage "old town" feel and there were a few parties already dining when we arrived. We were seated without a wait and our waiter was extremely knowledgeable and recommended the wings, potato wedges, and spaghetti and meatballs. He told us that everything on the menu is good, so whatever we choose we'll enjoy and he was RIGHT. The potato wedges were cooked perfectly. Crispy outside and fluffy inside. They were served with a housemade ketchup. The wings were also delicious and perfectly cooked, they were served with a tangy housemade sauce that was similar to ranch but better. We also had a half margherita, half veggie pizza that was really good and spaghetti and meatballs with Bolognese that was excellent. I'm very impressed with the menu selection, service and food. Growing up in SF, North Beach Pizza was a staple of my childhood, so to see one located a short walk away from where I was visiting in Berkeley, I knew I had to pick up a pie to go. After much deliberation, I decided on the SF Pizza, a clam, garlic, and red sauce topped pizza with their regular, classic crust. It was super easy to place the order in the app (download it for points), and they had our order ready a minute before pick up time! The address was super easy to locate, and I loved the set up of the pizza parlor; ample space to eat, a small nook with a comfy couch, and bocce ball. Overall, a nice spot to chill whether you're a local Berkeley student or a family. Was the pizza how I remembered it growing up? Not really--but the nostalgia still hit nonetheless. I will definitely come back and try their other combos again. The SF combo might not have been a winner, but North Beach Pizza has a nice tasty crust and dozens of other combinations (I've got my eye on you, Dolores Park and Golden Gate). read more

North Beach Pizza in Berkeley is so underrated. I grew up on North Beach Pizza when I lived in the outer Mission. This spot moved to a more visible spot near the UCB campus. The pizza here still tastes as good as I remember. Service is wonderful and friendly. This visit we wanted to try something different on the menu, so we tried pasta and a sandwich with some appetizers (Jo Jo Fries and Brussels sprouts) and a Caprese Salad. Everything tasted great but I would prefer having the Brussels sprouts with a little more crunch and maybe the Caprese with just tomatoes Basil and fresh mozzarella but that's just my preference. Yummy fresh pizza now located closer to home on Shattuck Food is made to order so nice and fresh. The service was prompt but maybe because when we got there we were the only ones in the dining room. This location is pretty big and it looks like the ambiance gets lively because they have live music sometimes. Whenever I see vegan options at pizzerias, I'm always a bit skeptical. It's tough to find a spot that really gets it right--too often the cheese is unpleasant, the crust is gluten-free and cardboard-like, and the overall experience just doesn't measure up. So when I had my first meal at North Beach Pizza, I honestly didn't expect much. From the outside, the restaurant looks pretty average, nothing fancy, just your standard neighborhood pizza place. When I disclosed my allergy, though, the staff immediately and carefully went over allergen information with me. They even took the Parmesan off the table without me asking, which I thought was an especially considerate touch. That level of attentiveness made me feel safe and respected as a customer. Then the pizza arrived--and I was blown away. At first glance, I thought it was real cheese. It was melted perfectly, the crust was thick and looked delicious, and the flavor matched the appearance. It completely exceeded my expectations. This was a phenomenal vegan pizza--easily one of the best I've had. This place used to be housed in the old IHOP on University back in the day. One day on my drive to work I noticed the sign and wondering if that was the same. Yes it was. Didn't feel like cooking so I ordered on the Slice app. They have a good variety, but decided on a Chicago style deep dish. Yes, I know Zacharys is probably reigning (the one on College), but wanted to try. OK so when you orde a Chicaco deep, give a little more time than your standard pizza. The app told me it would be ready in 15-20 min. Nope. The place is not busy, but then again this was a little after 5pm. The front has some high tables and a bar area. As well as a bocce ball area. This I think was there from the prior Italian joint. They do have dining in the back area. There where what looks to be 3 or people working. Cashier, a guy who looked like manager and probably a couple cooks. The cashier was helping a couple before me. And the the manager acknowledged and told me the pizza was in the oven. I didn't might waiting. He said they had got a run on mobile orders. While waiting I see they had a slices read to buy too. Note for next time for lunch break. The pie came out and I like it. It wasn't as thick as Zachary's, which was fine because you actually get a taste of the ingredients. The sauce on top was OK. But wish I had a few more sausage pieces. Perfect place to take the family. They have a menu for everyone. I keep coming back because they have everything we want from appetizers, to number of pizzas (you can even customize if not listed), wings plus more appetizers, wine and beer. They even have a small area my kids were able to go and play around in (small area used for inside golfing). Quite a drop off from Giovannis ordered the lasagna. Huge portion mainly dried out ground beef with no ricotta and very little mozzarella, only on the top. No sauce I could see.service was bad. The bread was poor, no butter and poor quality.No refills on sofas. Hardly anyone in the restaurant. Will not return. What a shame . Some people write poetry for assignments or love, personally, I think I'll write about North Beach because my heart today. I wandered in on a chilly evening, half-expecting another "meh" slice, but what I got instead felt like a little slice of happiness. The crust went crazyyyy. Golden perfection, crispy where it should be, fluffy where it counts, and it held up valiantly under a mountain of cheese. The sauce had that perfect zesty-sweet balance that makes you nod mid-bite like "yep, this is it." I went for the classic pepperoni and instantly regretted not ordering a full pizza just for myself. Sure, some earlier reviewers might've caught them on an off day, but every great pizza place has those. Tonight though? North Beach nailed it. I had a dinner party last night with a group of 12 people. I called in advance and ordered all of my food and drinks, and they had everything piping hot and ready on table right on time. They did a great job of making sure my party was a hit with all of my friends and everything went super smoothly. The portions were super big and I had so much extra food to take home. I also brought my own cake and they were good with that, but if you want you can order their desserts which are pretty good based on my past experience. I ordered the following: House red wine - good value for ordering by the bottle Chicago style - North Beach special - very solid 1/2 Barbary Coast and 1/2 North Beach - so tasty 1/2 Aloha and 1/2 Amigo - if you love pineapple on your pizza, like I do, the Aloha is amazing. The Amigo has some ground beef on it, and while I typically don't go for ground beef, it is really good especially with some jalapeño for kick and olives and onions for flavor. Calamari - my guests loved this one so much we ended up ordering this twice! 1/2 tray Fettitucine Alfredo - very tasty, basically all finished by our group! 1/2 tray Spaghetti Marinara - also great Full tray Garden Salad - classic salad, and also came with dressings on the side read more

I still can't understand why this restaurant doesn't have higher reviews and more people eating here. Since they moved to the new location on Shattuck Avenue, the place has been almost empty. North Beach Pizza has been my favorite for since 1985 in SF. Anyway, we get the Coit tower special and Caesar salad every time we visit. The sauce is tangy and robust, the mozzarella cheesy, but not they don't put too much cheese atop. The mozzarella is really good and stringy. Italian sausage very flavorful and the pepperoni is cooked to a nice brown crispy edge. The crust taste delicious almost like a focaccia so they probably have rosemary in there. Caesar salad is great and they put feta and a little Parm on the top. We've only gotten pasta a few times, but really seem to like it. As for the location, huge! You can have a private party in the back and there's even a hidden room. They have a large bar as well. Would be great for company gathering place. read more
