That's just bad pizza. Remember when indoor malls existed and they all had a pizza place? This Is the same greasy tasteless pizza we had back then. It was definitely nostalgic. But not something that appeals to me any longer.

Vegan cheese pizza

Terrific place! Thank you, Scott, for the delicious vegan pizza and memorable lunch :-) FOOD: The pizza crust is very good! This NY style pizza is better than several pizzas I've tried in NYC because here they bake it just right. The crust is not burned/charred black, it's thin and crunchy but still foldable. Good balance of cheese and sauce. I got a full vegan pizza and the cheese did not stick to the mouth and overall tasty SERVICE: Maybe the best part. So friendly, welcoming, and accommodating. They greet you like you're a friend visiting after a while.

Maestro at work-

Tasty. Simple. What you crave. Fold in half and enjoy. I would love to have seating back in this joint!

I was in need of a quick slice on a work break and I had never had Arinell before so decided to give it a whirl. Here you can order by the slice and have them add toppings as you'd like. I went for just a plain pepperoni. It was an okay slice of pizza. For this price point in this day and age I won't complain. I don't see this being a regular spot for me, but I'd stop back in in a pinch.

Pepperoni pizza

Upon arrival they only had cheese pizza that was sitting there for who knows how long so we ordered a fresh new pepperoni pizza. It took about 20 mins to have made so wasnt too bad of a wait. Pizza was ok. The cheese would fall right off of most of the slices that i grabbed so it was kinda messy. Overall i probably would not come back again. Very mid pizza.

Large cheese pie

I haven't been here in a while. This was the closest thing you could find to New York Pizza. Last time I was here a large pie cost $26 now it's 36. I get prices of gone up so I wouldn't complain on this. The pizza was amazing. When I first got the pizza, Home open the box and it looks so good filled the whole box so you definitely getting a better value, but they changed the recipe because the sauce the cheese and the dough was not the same. The dough was so much thicker and dry and lots of flour on the bottom. The sauce is not balanced anymore. It's flavorless besides oregano on the cheese doesn't have the same taste. Very sad as this was such a good place. The staff was amazing though.

two slices of pizza in a box

It's NY-style pizza. It's good if you're into that. I am and to me they do a great job compared to those I've had while living on the East Coast. Just wish they take orders after 6 PM so we can have pizza for dinner as working people... Also half of the time their POS machine isn't working so you have to pay cash. But welp, it's the best NY-style pizza I can find in this area.

They keep raising prices for food. Also they haven't changed location yet. Stop in if you're in the area.

Some of the best pizza in Berkeley if you like NY style thin crust. They have a thick crust too but I find the thin much better.

Tried grabbing a slice today only to find a new "Closed on Sundays" sign posted. Hours need to be updated on Yelp and on their website.

Ask the Community - Arinell Pizza

I was wondering who owns Arinells pizza now, one person, a family?

Ron Demirdjian is the sole owner and one of the original owners. It was originally owned by Ron and Larry (R and L). I don't recall Larry's last name but he's been gone since the 1970s I think.

The line does get pretty long on busy nights after big events like concerts, but it tends to move pretty fast. I've tried their Artichoke, Margherita, and Vodka slices which are all solid choices. Each of their slices are huge and great for the price of ~$8! Personally, I find their pizzas to be a bit on the heavier side with their generous amounts of sauce, but great if you're in the mood for some mouth-watering greasy saucy pizza. They operate on a grab n go service, but there are seats and a few standing tables outside. Overall, definitely a pizza spot worth going to when you're in Berkeley!

But Blondie's still knows how to crank out slices that are very satisfying for a quick bite. I got their classic pepperoni and it still plentifully loaded with beef pepperoni on a slice sizable enough to make you think twice before ordering two of them. I stuck with one. Something about the texture does not say dough prepared daily to my palate. Still, it's quick and delicious. The spicy tomato sauce and four cheese blend offer a nice balance to the doughy crust. Slices start as $6.99 for cheese. Vegetarian and a daily special are also available. Whole pies too -- $14 for a small cheese pie. 12 varieties to choose from and sizes ranging from 10' to the 22" Godzilla pizza. Not to mention wings or breadsticks. Order from a cashier or, when it's busy, a kiosk. For seating, there are only 3 small tables + 3 chairs at the window counter. Lot's of standing room or it's easy food to walk with. Pizzeria da Laura in Berkeley is a fantastic spot for Italian food right in the heart of downtown,…read morejust steps from the university. The location gives it a lively downtown vibe with lots of energy from the surrounding area and nearby students. The reservation and check-in process was very smooth. The staff were incredibly courteous, welcoming, and helpful throughout the visit. I actually arrived about 30 minutes earlier than my reservation time, and they were kind enough to seat us early, which was a really nice touch. One thing I really like about this place is that they update their dishes a few times a year, so every visit can feel a little different and exciting. The menu has great variety, especially when it comes to pizza styles as you can choose from New York, Sicilian, Detroit, and Grandma-style pizzas, and the pricing is very straightforward for all the sizes they serve. The pizza was perfectly cooked and tasted great. They also allow you to customize your pizza by adding or removing ingredients, which makes it very convenient for everyone to choose based on their liking. And they add toppings with open-heart. The pasta was also excellent. We ordered the Peperoncino pasta, and it tasted amazing. The garlic flavor and breadcrumbs were really the highlight and brought out the authentic character of the spaghetti. Another big plus is that they have plenty of vegetarian options, making it easy for different dietary preferences. The portions are generous and the prices are very reasonable for what they serve. Food arrived quickly, and the service from the servers and staff was great throughout the visit. The restaurant also has plenty of space and handles reservations well. The atmosphere is lively with lots of people around and students from the nearby university, which adds to the downtown Berkeley energy. A little more upbeat music could add even more charm to the place. Overall, this is a place I would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Berkeley. It's the kind of restaurant I'd happily come back to again and again.
