EHS was great in all aspects - they promptly called us back when we contacted them at 6:30pm on a Friday evening. By 8:30pm we had a technician at our home and a new motor installed. I don't know about their work but I do know they are not courteous in the neighborhoods where they work. The first time this happened at this property, I told the guy who was standing at his truck checking his phone that he was blocking the entire sidewalk and I could not get by walking my dogs. He did not move and instead doubled down the next time he was out and used both trucks to block the sidewalk. No considerate of others. In response to the company's reasoning, I disagree, I have lived in this community since April 2000 in 3 different homes including on that street and it is first of all is not a thoroughfare and has very little traffic but regardless is wide enough for him to park on the roll up curb or even park 1 car length further up to allow pedestrians and vehicles to both pass safely. There are work trucks parking on that street everyday and none of them were parked so far onto the sidewalk that they impede pedestrians walking by safely. There was also ample room in the homeowners driveway to park further back and not block the sidewalk. Obviously, you're more interested in arguing with me on a public forum than the neighbors you serve. But I have 2 small dogs on a walk and it was already 95 degrees at 9am - the asphalt is 20+ degrees hotter than the sidewalk and it was burning their feet. I'm sorry your tech is too lazy to walk 10 addl feet than inconvenience the neighbors. The bottom line is sidewalks are for people not for vehicles. read more

Absolute HORRIBLE experience. Our ac went out and was only blowing heat. I used a $69 coupon to have a tech come out and do a service call to see why this was happening and what the solution was to fix it. He arrived and then told me it would be another $55 if I wanted to know why it was blowing heat only. I thought that was the point of the service call. I didn't need to spend $69 for him to tell me it wasn't blowing cold air. He then told me that I needed a new "reversing valve" and it would be $2200 to have it replaced. I called another company and the tech within 1 minute said, this wire is not getting any power and is your problem. The tech said that this 100% should have been one of the 1st things YOUR tech should have checked and that would have solved the issue. Instead he didn't and tried to rip us off with a $2200 charge for a part that was never broken. I STRONGLY believe now that the tech just wanted to make a quick sale and take COMPLETE advantage of the situation. $100 later to another company and my ac is back to blowing cold air!!! Ellsworth Home Services replaced both of my HVAC units this summer. They also blew new insulation in my attic. Clint, Freddy, and team were wonderful to work with. They are professional and cared about the condition they left my home in. I was impressed that Freddy offered to wear booties in my home and made sure to clean up any insulation that fell from the attic access. After 10 days of no AC in our lower level and zero response from our home warranty provider we contacted five A/C companies and are very happy we chose Ellsworth Home Services. They had their estimator Darin Kelly at our door within just a couple of hours and he provided a quote within an hour or so. The next day Shane and Aeron installed the new split heat pump system. They were courteous, clean and had the entire job done by about 1 PM. Of the five companies we received quotes from, Ellsworth was the second lowest (just a couple hundred difference) and had the best prepared quote. Darin didn't try to BS and oversell and I appreciate that. The entire job from initial call to turning on the new unit was under 24 hours. BTW, the service tech dispatched by our home warranty company arrived unannounced on the 12th day and we sent him away. I have been using Ellsworth for two years now. The owner, Clint, is extremely involved in all operations of his business. He has been out to my house a few times; he has always given me fantastic service. I bought the five year service plan because I felt confident that this company would not only be around in five years, but that I would consistently get good service from them. Unfortunately for me, my a/c decided to stop working yesterday. Let me tell you what sets Ellsworth apart from the other a/c companies. I called at 8:30 a.m. and someone was at my house by 10:00 a.m. to take a look at my unit. Upon inspecting my 12 year old unit, the tech (Alan) found a blown motor and some other major issues. He advised me not to throw good money after bad. With any other company, I would think they were trying to put one over on me. Having dealt with Clint a couple months before and Clint having advised me to just do a small fix to get me through this Summer, I knew if they were advising me to replace the unit that it must be time. I decided to replace the unit and I was given a fantastic price. Since they would need to come back the following day to replace the unit, Alan offered to LOAN ME A NEW MOTOR so my family would not have to be displaced for the night. He worked on my a/c for more than an hour just to get it working enough for me to sleep there for the night (a fix that would have cost me several hundred dollars). Was it noisy? Yes. Was it working perfectly? No. But was it good enough for me to stay in my home instead of paying for a hotel? YES! When the team of techs did show up to install my a/c at 7:30 today, they got straight to work. They encountered some electrical issues right at the end of the job, but they still finished before 2 p.m. I have a brand new easy read thermostat, a new Rheem a/c and a noticeably cooler house. Even set at the same temps I normally keep the house at, it seems like this a/c is working more efficiently and gets the house cooler, faster. My 85 year old father recently moved into a home in Mesa that had the AC replaced two years ago and when they bought the home less than 6 months ago, the inspector gave the AC the all good except for a few duct leaks. The reason I'm writing this is because my Dad is not on Yelp and is not Internet aware as many seniors aren't. My dad responded to this companies 35 tune up coupon and asked that a few duct leaks be sealed that were found in the home inspection while doing the tune up. When the technician came out, he tried to up sale him a 500 a year maintenance plan along with a 1700 arrow seal kit. He then said two factory parts were blown and charged 250 for those and said he wrapped the leaks with duct tape instead as my dad had asked him to do in the first place. After he left, the AC sounded like a thunderstorm was blowing in it and was not normal. It was not doing this prior to them working on it. The person who runs the VA home loan program who helped my dad get the house had one of their people come out and found that a pulley had come loose and fell into the system and could have caused major problems, none of the leaks in the duct had been taken care of and only one of the factory components had been replaced. They repaired the system and gave him a written report of what they found. Now my dad is in the process of filing a BBB complaint along with a registrar of contractor's complaint. read more

We had been having AC troubles for over a week and fighting with our horrible home warranty company to find a AC repair company that could help us. We live in a two story townhouse with a very tall roof that has tiles and not shingles. That makes it somewhat dangerous and difficult to get up there. Two different companies refused to even go up on the roof and look at the unit. We decided to find a repair company on our own. My husband called them first thing Monday morning and explained our situation, they had someone at our house within 30 minutes! They immediately went up on the roof and did a full inspection. We were told that with our 25+ year old unit it would be around $3000 to repair fully, and a new unit would be $4500. We opted for the new unit. They came back out the very next morning to replace our unit! They even did a special arrangement and brought in a crane on loan to use for the job. They were quick and efficient, and are also special ordering us a custom made grate for the AC unit on the inside of our house at no extra charge to us. They were completely finished in 4 1/2 hours, and asked for a broom and dustpan to clean up after themselves. I was extremely impressed with them and would recommend them to anyone. We had excellent and first rate service, and I am so glad we found this company after the nightmare we had been going through. read more

I have not had the condenser coils cleaned in awhile on the outside AC unit and with the recent storms thought it would be a good time to have a professional clean them. I called Ellsworth because they installed my HVAC unit a few years ago. The technician did a quick check of current draw and Freon level stating both were normal as expected. We were not having any issue with the AC so why not a quick check. The professional cleaning of the condenser coils I could have done in 5 min. The technician sprayed a pink liquid thru the metal housing protecting the coils I guess to help remove debris and then with a regular garden hose and a medium hard spray level, sprayed thru the outside of the housing to inside to clean the coils. The debris is drawing into the coils from outside, you would think at a minimum they would clean from inside to outside! Lesson learned save yourself some money! Do it yourself, the professional simply used a garden house to spray from outside to inside of housing to clean dirt out of the coils. There was initially 2 different charges one for the current and Freon check and a separate charge for spraying the coils with a garden hose from outside to inside of the housing. The additional charge was dropped after review with office. I did agree to pay for the coil cleaning, that will not happen again! read more

DISHONEST company DO NOT USE. My AC wasn't blowing cold enough air to make any difference in the temperature of my home. These guys were right down the street and I saw they had a $34 special to do an AC check and that would include adding Freon if it was low. So the tech (salesman) came out and took a look at everything and then gave me this pitch on how many things were wrong with my 3 year old AC unit and it was going to cost me $3500 to fix everything and I actually needed an entirely new unit. But he said instead of paying that I could sign up for this annual plan that cost like $400/month and that would cover everything that I needed. I wasn't born yesterday and know the smell off bull crap right away. I told the guy I had no interest and to cut his pitch off right then and I needed to call someone else. I called a friend of a friend and he came out and noticed everything looked great except I was low on Freon which the other guy was supposed to do anyways!!! He filled it up and $75 later my AC is working perfect. 5 years later I've spent a total of $100 in annual regular check ups on my AC with no issues. These guys are all about taking advantage of people and I will NEVER use them ever again. read more

About 18 months ago we used Ellsworth to do some fairly major work on the AC unit at our rental house ($1000). We purchased their 3-year preventative maintenance plan whereby they check-in on the unit every six months and recommend any required service. I would expect that they would take the lead and stay on top of these six month visits (since they have been paid in full, and each time they've gone out, something was recommended and we've had them do the work). But now I have had to set a calendar reminder so I can contact them so they'll go out, and even that takes 2-3 follow-up calls to make it happen. When they get out there, they are great and seem very reasonable and fair. It's just getting them out there that is the challenge. read more

I'm very disappointed, as I have been using this company for the past two years. I originally had them out to service my unit and they filled up my AC unit with Freon. The good news is that it never leaked, a year later I had them out again to replace a capacitor that went bad. I had them back out a few times for service check ups no problems. Then today I had Don stop by because my AC unit was not turning off, it was because the coils had frozen and he told me that the unit is old and needs to be replaced. We went over a few items and then decided to go with a 4 Ton Rheem 14 Seer unit for $7000 which included a new return and duct to a laundry room. I decided to have a second opinion and when another company stopped by to look at the unit the coil had already defrosted. He checked out the unit and it worked great! No issues nothing needed to be replaced. He then changed my air filter in the house because it was dirty. It is running beautifully now and the other company saved me $7000. I'm more upset that Don did not take additional steps or follow up once the coil defrosted before he tried to push a new AC unit on me. read more
