We decided it was time to take advantage of the SRP rebates to add insulation to the attic of our older home. We got estimates from the three highest rated companies. Thermo S and another company's estimates came back close but with very different approaches to cooling down a bedroom that was always hot. In the end, we decided Thermo's solution sounded more logical. In the end we went with Thermo S because of Caden's expertise with duct work. He recommended duct sealing and adding an extra vent in addition to insulation. Day of, the team showed up on time, did the work efficiently, and cleaned up their mess. The difference was instant. The air felt cooler coming out of the ducts, the A/C comes on less, the hot bedroom is cooler, and the house is quieter. I do have bad allergies/chemical sensitivities and the duct sealing was rough but after 3-4 days the smell faded and it's been fine. I would say communication with the office could have been better but they always returned calls the same day. All and all a very positive experience--I would highly recommend Thermo-S. read more

We were concerned about our 10 yr old attic cellulose insulation and we called Thermo Shield out to give us a price estimate on swapping it out for another type or adding on to what we have. Appoint communication was great. Arrival time to the minute 10:58am - grins. Caden climbed up into the attic, did a thorough review with pictures and we discuss our current insulation coverage. Now the surprising part. Caden honestly, ethically, fairly advised that we didn't need more insulation. I didn't have to look at him sideways, so can I trust you (expecting to have to make that assessment on a big price). Nope. I chose this company after getting 4 estimates because they answered all my questions and concerns. When the job was done, it looked really bad like someone off the streets sprayed in the foam insulation. They left equipment in my garage for a week when the project was finished and only came to get it when I contacted them about it and how the job looked really bad. When the gentlemen came out to get equipment he took pictures of the job and said he would show it to the owner and then get back to me with what they were going to do. 3 weeks later and 3 voicemails layer I have not heard a thing back but they keep sending me an invoice for the rest of the job which I have no problem paying but would like to know what they are going to do first. I do not recommend this company as once the job is done they don't care what it looks like and just want to get paid without caring. read more

Two years ago, my wife and I purchased a home built in 1985. The inspection report listed that the insulation was very low but we decided to hold off on adding insulation until other renovation projects were completed. This year, we decided to get estimates for blown in insulation before summer arrives. Of the three competitive estimates, we decided to go with Thermo Shield because Nick, the owner, took the time to explain and educate the issues in our attic, which were consistent but more detailed than the other two estimates received. Our work consisted of cellulose insulation and having the A/C duct work sealed, including the bathroom exhaust fans. Thermo Shield was very prompt when they arrived to conduct the estimate and when they did the work. They were respectful of our home by protecting our floors from the entrance of the to the attic crawl space. One major PLUS for me is that the crew is not outsourced and were friendly. During the prep work, Nick also arrived to lend the crew a hand. When the crew completed the work, they cleaned the area around the attic entrances, removed the floor protectors and cleaned the driveway, since the equipment is located in the back of the truck. It's important to mention that Thermo Shield is an approved contractor with SRP. As a result of having the seal work completed, we were able to receive an energy rebate from SRP. Thermo Shield returned a later date to conduct a pressure test of our HVAC system to submit the readings for the rebate. Days following the install, we received a call from Thermo Shield asking how did the install go and if we have any questions. I have nothing but positive feedback on the service we received and wish we had taken care of this sooner. It's been a couple of months since the insulation. We went from below R-13 to R-49. The temperature in the home is consistent; all of the hot/cold spots around the home have been eliminated. Comparing the week before and after the install, we noticed the HVAC units do not turn on as often! Both weeks were similar in temperatures. I don't wish for another hot summer, like 2020, but I'm confident we'll see a decrease in energy usage going forward. read more

I do not have enough good things to say about Thermo Shield and their employees. Everything from the initial inquiry, home visit, old insulation removal, making minor repairs, and finally getting the spray foam complete was beyond expectations. Thermo Shield sent Caden to our home for the original site visit and quote. He was extremely knowledgeable about all things insulation and approached my wife and I from a consultative approach. He made sure to ask us plenty of questions about what we were experiencing and what we were looking for. Victor and Alex were the crew who was there for our whole project. Victor and Aaron were very kind and professional. Honestly, these guys are amazing at their work. They were here for three days sucking out the old insulation, sealing air ducts, and then finally doing the spray foam. Through the entire process Caden never hesitated to respond to our constant stream of questions that popped up! Again, I would hire these guys in a second if we ever need another project. No measuring tape, no Sq footage listed on estimate as to how much they charged us for removal or installation. I worked with Aaron to improve insulation in my garage and attic. We ended up going with spray foam insulation for both. Aaron helped me come up with the best solution to improve the temperature in our home. I'm turning my garage into a gym so will need it properly insulated before the summer gets here and spray foam has the best R-value. Aaron mentioned that they don't do drywall repair and for the garage spray foam they need to drill holes in your drywall. I assumed the drywall would be part of the scheduling but it wasn't. Luckily I have my own drywall and got it fixed quickly but just be aware of this when if you spray foam your garage. You'll need to make your own accommodations. Next Thermoshield scheduled my attic which involves removing all existing insulation before spraying the foam across the whole roof of the attic. It took one more day than scheduled to remove all the insulation which made things difficult for my family because you have to be out of the house for 24 hours once they start spraying. We just had to adjust our schedules on the fly which wasn't ideal. The crew had a couple out with sickness and the guys who were here were working hard to try and get it done on time. Aaron himself was up in my attic for several hours removing insulation. They were more concerned with getting the job done correctly than quickly which I appreciate. After the job was done I noticed some of the spray foam leaked out of the attic to the outside of my house. Aaron again came to my house and removed it all himself. He went above and beyond to finish the project. I appreciate working with him. Definitely recommend. Finally, the results of the job...I think it was worth the money. Our house is holding temperature much more consistently now. We have our heat set to 71 degrees during the winter and the house holds steady at 74 even though it's in the 40's-50's outside. Our heat only comes one once or twice during the night but not at all during the day. This spray foam stuff really holds temperature well. You can also feel how much more sound proof it is. My gym in the garage is now a tolerable temperature. I'll probably need a split AC for the summer but the insulation was a must first. Our garage had literally no insulation before this. In conclusion, the company was focused on quality. They made sure the job was completed and done properly at the expense of finishing on time, which I prefer. Aaron took pride in the job from start to finish, doing a lot of the work himself. They need to make some improvements with scheduling around spray foam since it requires you to be out of the house and they should help more with the drywall part. Those are my only two critiques but I still think they deserve a 5 star because all I really care about is the outcome. read more

I had a leak from my A/C attic drain pipe. I had 2 plumbers say it was likely it was stepped on by the insulation guys who were the only ones in my attic. Service was scheduled during an in-home, free estimate and then carried out by his wonderful crew. Ben and Daniel handled the installation of the cellulose insulation and were professional and fast. I recieved pictures of the finished work that included measurement sticks indicating the level of insulation that'd been blown in and paid for. EverythIng excellent. After the install (and in the following few days), I noticed some excess insulation coming through the interior vents. Contacted Nick and he helped explain what was going on with my ductwork (there were openings in the ducts that required service) and provided an SOW detailing the process and associated cost. Due to talking with Caden at the Phoenix Home Show, the BBB rating and the reviews, I chose to have ThermoShield add insulation to my home (which was built in 1986). Both Caden and the crew, Jesus and Ronald were there when they said they would be there. The process was explained, questions addressed and pictures were taken and shown to me. I was also able to assess the attic with Caden before and after completion. There was a small area of concern after the project was completed. This was promptly addressed and resolved appropriately. I called Thermo Shield to get advice and an estimate on attic insulation. I bought my older home a few years ago and was not sure of the condition and R-value of the existing insulation. Caden Larson (480-622-1861) came out pretty quickly and did a thorough assessment of my attic insulation (including pictures). He concluded that the existing insulation was in good condition was the proper thickness as a whole and was not in need of replacement. I greatly appreciated his expertise and honesty. Initial quote was for 3 days of work; 2 days for removal of ALL insulation and 1 days for spray installation. All work to be conducted in the same week. Actual work took 3 weeks. Removal crew brought vacuums that did not work on consecutive days. Removal crews urinated behind my gate. Removal crew left insulation in the attic and damaged reccesed lighting. Removal crews spilled oil on my driveway. They at least told me about this and attempted to remove it. Installation crew spilled or sprayed oil on my garage door and inside my garage including on my Harley. They did not tell me about this. They did offer to clean it...which I declined. They repainted my garage door. For $8k I expect to receive service which I am quoted and have no damage to my home. The workers were polite but I expect professionalism for $8k. After reading reviews online for several companies and several estimates, we decided to go with Thermo Shield for improving our attic insulation. Our attic only had R19, and we had it brought up to R42. Nick and his crew were on time, and finished the job promptly. We noticed a difference immediately, and by mid-day, the ceiling temps were 6-8 degrees lower than the previous day. That translates into less heat transfer from the attic into living space, and less strain on our AC system. I highly recommend Nick and Thermo Shield, if you're thinking about insulation. I called a few contractors for quotes, Caden came on time was informative and mentioned thing others had not. I went with the energy audit as it's an old house. They did all the paperwork to get me the rebates and the total cost was very good. The install team was friendly, did a great job and did not leave a mess. Caden came back to measure the difference from the duct sealing and insulation and there was a large improvement. While it's still winter here, I can tell my heater is not going on so much. What didn't I expect? A quieter home, where the heater rarely turns on, an attic where I can store things at a reasonable temperature and a professional who followed up with his infrared temperature gun and who is easy to refer to my friends and family (thanks Caden), that they would handle all the rebates, and a 50% reduction in airflow to the outside. Yeah, my house was leaky. What I hoped for were people who arrived on time, did the work that they promised to do and left on time. One of their machines went down on the first day of removing my insulation, and they brought back two machines the next day to make sure that they got it done on time. The instances of exceeding my customer service expectations and the thorough and quality workmanship were numerous. And their quote was 25% cheaper than the other quote I received. This company reneged on a signed estimate for a job in Tucson at a residence I own. The estimator looking at the job said the cost would be more given the added travel time from Tempe which I accepted. After I received the estimate, I sent in a 60% required deposit and signed estimate. They called to say the original estimate was no longer valid, and the cost would be substantially more because of the travel time. The estimate would now be 2 to 3 times what the original estimate was. I don't see how this in any way calculates for a distance of an hour and a half driving distance, especially since I was told that the original estimate already accounted for that. This is a breach of contract, an unethical business practice, and a big waste of my time. read more
