I had Magic Touch replace my AC unit. We were told the unit was the most efficient (also the most expensive). It has never kept our house cool and has recently started shutting off during the hottest part of the day. We bought this to their attention when we first noticed the issue the first year and they recommended replacing the coolant. Of course by then the summer was over and we didn't have a problem until the next summer. We in the meantime have done whatever we can to keep the heat off the back of our house. Magic Touch is claiming that the unit is functioning as intended. I'm not convinced when I can't stand the temperature in my kitchen. They are now not willing to do anything to alleviate the situation. We will be replacing our unit after only a little less than 4 years but not with them. I feel we were sold a bill of goods and I'm done with companies that don't stand by the products they sell! read more

My thermostat just went blank on a Sunday afternoon,called Magic Touch, and they sent a tech first thing Monday morning. The tech (Max) arrived early and found the thermostat to be dead. He also check the equipment in my attic and the equipment outside just to make sure everything was working properly. It was and he installed a new smart thermostat, and completely explained how to operate it with all the new technology. He spent 4 hrs. at my house, was very pleasant and professional. After the technician fixed the A/C problem by changing the position of the condenser contactor, he told us that the A/C refrigefrant inventory wasn't completely full so I authorized him to add a small amount to "top off" the inventory. During this summer, 2024, the upstairs unit has gotten worse. There was one day where the unit was unable to get the house to 94 degrees! I have children that cannot go upstairs to their rooms during the summer. This is crazy. I filed a compliant with the Better Business Bureau. The company responded and showed pictures of the downstairs unit and then blamed the issue on dirty air filters. They didn't bother to attach pictures of the upstairs unit. We had the worst experience with Magic Touch. They installed a faulty refrigeration unit in our wine room that didn't work from day one. The wine room is large and our bottles were at risk. They came out repeatedly (over 20 times). The factory person came out and told them they didn't install all the parts. It kept failing and they had the nerve to charge us for a service call and parts. After over a year of continuous failure we were forced to order a new unit from another company. This was the biggest rip off from Magic touch. Even their technicians felt bad. They would not honor their badly installed faulty product that was $13k and we had to remodel it to fit another 2k. Last summer I had my ancient HVAC system repaired, and the technician told me it would not last another season, so last month after getting some recommendations, I contacted Magic Touch Mechanical. Bart was amazing -- knowledgeable and helpful without applying any pressure, and without trying to sell me the most expensive unit. We settled on a 2.5 ton unit, and it was installed in less than two weeks. The crew was on time, professional, courteous, and thorough. They installed an Amazon Echo-compatible thermostat in my condo and walked me through how to use it, and I programmed my system just by telling it what I wanted. Purchased brand new Bosch unit and new duct work a year ago. Still under warranty. AC went out yesterday, 88 degrees in the house, my husband is on dialysis and I have heart and other health issues. The earliest they can come out is FRIDAY (6 DAYS!). This is unacceptable. You can show up when there is money to be made! I don't recommend this company. My A/C went out in July. I have used a company called Desert Wolf in previous years and they were great. I looked them up again and they had apparently been sold to Magic Touch in 2019, with a glowing recommendation from Desert Wolf's previous owner on the Magic Touch web site, so I asked them to come out. A very nice tech came at 10 AM, replaced three electrical parts and assured me it was fixed. It was still 82 in the house when he was done. He set the thermostat to 74 and said it would take a few hours to cool back down. I paid $860 and he left at 1 PM. House never got cool. At 6 PM it was 84 degrees. I called them and the very nice receptionist apologized and said they would do a free courtesy call the next day to make it right. A different, not so nice tech showed up the next day. He said the problem wasn't with the newly replaced parts, he didn't know why the previous tech had replaced them, and the new repairs would be over $1200. On top of that, if I didn't want him to do the repair that day, I would have to pay $75 for this followup visit. I asked how they could be charging for the followup when the A/C wasn't fixed the first time and the previous tech hadn't seen this $1200+ problem the day before. The tech then called his manager and discussed it, and they would not budge on the $75 charge, even though I had already paid them $850 and they wanted $1200+ more. I ended up paying the $75 to let the tech go home after he suggested calling the owner to get the followup fee refunded. I followed up with several phone calls, and though they were very interested in what this tech said to me, and were implying he misspoke, they never refunded my money. I got fed up with all this baloney and called Moore Air out of Litchfield Park. Two of their techs identified the problem immediately (a bad fan), fixed it in less than 30 minutes, and charged me $400. I showed them the previous invoice from Magic Touch and they said they had never heard of the electrical parts they claimed to have fixed. It's three months later and the house is cool, no thanks to Magic Touch. read more

In 2019, Magic Touch Mechanical (MTM) replaced our furnaces, A/C compressors, and did some duct work. We have zoned HVAC so we we need double units of everything. Part of the package was a five year maintenance plan. the coast was over $30K. Last fall, some techs came out for normal maintenance and did a substantial amount of work. That included replacement of two filters that eliminated the necessity for other filters throughout the house. MTM charged me $590 for the two filters. When I did some online research, I discovered I could have purchased the two filters for $190. I sent them an email and never received a response. When they called me last week to arrange for a tune up of the A/C, I brought up the cost to Kathleen. She abruptly hung up. Not very much integrity. read more

I had a problem with my pool heat pump on Oct 28, 2020. They came very quickly and the service fellow was friendly. I received the invoice online with nothing itemized, parts or labor just the name of the 2 parts installed and the total price of $729.00. Without any knowledge of the cost of the items. Since then I have had some other issues with pumps and I checked back to the Magic Touch Bill and what the repair parts were It didn't tell me how much was charged for parts and how much was for labor. I looked up the parts for pricing for a voltage absorber and the power distributor (one of these parts looked like a capacitor) The parts were not very much online around 150.00 in total. Update... I had to file with the BBB before they would do anything. Then they came out after agreeing to fix the incorrect installation and the tech began using a claw hammer on my stucco wall. The tech had no idea what he was doing and admitted this very fact. I wish I would have read the reviews on yelp before deciding on using this company. MTM installed a brand new system just before we purchased this home 2 years ago. Now the ac is no longer cooling. The tech came out and found the problem is a leaking coupler due to their poor workmanship. They wanted to charge me $1,700 to fix their mistake. They refused to stand by their "lifetime workmanship guarantee". They refused to provide me with an itemized copy of the work that needed to be done. Tech refused to let me speak with his supervisor. I sent the tech on his way and will never do business with this company. After I left a negative review on their Facebook page, a friend or family member of theirs immediately posted an obviously phony positive review. MTM's response was to threaten to not honor the FACTORY warranty on my unit in the future. I contacted another company and was only charged $300 to correct MTM's poor workmanship. We have absolutely no luck with AC companies and here we ran into another bunch of people looking to fleece us for whatever unnecessary work they can suck out of you. It's like going to a car wash where is all you want is a car wash but then they want to fix your windshield, detail it, give you an oil change and anything else they can get you to agree to. I called to have my mini split looked at. There was a $75 inspection fee to diagnose it. about and hour later the tech said I needed to add Freon R-22 They don't make it anymore he said but we have some. He must find the leak and and may have to solder or replace it.He then found the leak (a loose joint) and tighten it.No welding or broken parts needed. The he took out the Freon that was in it and weighed and saved it. filled it up with another gas and put pressure on it to make sure no more leaks. Not finding any more leaks he's in took that out and refilled it was our 22 to the factory specifications then checked it and it worked my bill was $1600 for two hours worth of work not including the one hour of inspection no broken parts no replacements no welding nothing I thought that was very high I needed to get done now. After checking with some other people at work they told me that was very very expensive but he way over charge me for what was done I'm very unhappy at this point. I am making a formal complaint to the company to find out why they charge me so much and did not break down the bill showing me how much Freon they put back in and why it cost so much for labor I do not advise anyone to use this company . read more

Magic Touch was extremely competitive with their price of our new Heat Pump last year. They just came for our 1 year maintenance check up. Jeremy was extraordinarly thorough and professional, letting me know what he was doing and finding throughout the process. I had forgotten about the yearly maintenance I orgininally purchased, but they obviously did not, and they did a fabulous job. Totally Satisfied! I purchased a Bosch AC from Magic Touch Mechanical in August, 2020. Six months later I was charged $319 for an inner coil restoration. February, 2022, I was charged $1,195 for refrigerant. The company claimed the AC was under refrigerated at the factory. Six months later in Septembe, 2022 after the AC again did not maintain temperature, I was charged $385 for a pressure test and then another $2,234 for refrigerant. The company then claimed the inner coil needed to be replaced. The inner coil was not replaced until November, 2022. In two years, I have spent $4,133 on a brand new AC. So an AC was under refrigerated at the factory in April, 2022 but 4 months later, it was the inner coil, the same inner coil I was charged $319 only 6 months after a new AC was installed. We purchased an air conditioner from magic touch mechanical. Ty was the salesman on 02-22-21. He was very nice but was not totally honest with us. We picked a Lennox unit not knowing or was told the thermostat was on backorder so we had the unit installed on 03-09-21. The unit in the attic was so loud it woke us up so we called for service. On 04-13 Jason came out and told us the thermostat wasn't the right one for the unit we bought and the thermostat was on backorder. Kat told us it would be in by May 7th and it was. They were supposed to come on May 13th and cancelled due to an unforseen problem. Now we have to wait until the 21st. I guess 8 days isn't bad since we have been waiting this long. We should of been told about the thermostat from the beginning so we could of got a different brand. We are very disappointed. read more

When our 1-year-old San Tan Valley a/c wasn't keeping up in the summer of 2021, a neighbor recommended I contact Day Advanced Air. I did and the owner very honestly said they were too busy to take on another job. He recommended I contact Magic Touch as he had gone to school with the owner and knew they would do a good job. Steve Day, if you're reading this, I hope you stop recommending Magic Touch! Over the course of June, July and August of 2021, Magic Touch technicians took apart the air conditioner and found nothing, so had to recharge it with new refrigerant; identified the problem as a leak in the lineset and replaced the entire lineset (three trucks on site, multiple technicians for over 12 hours); did a dye test because it was still leaking and said it was the A-frame coil, they'd have to order a new one. In October, when we asked about the replacement part, they were quite puzzled, what were we talking about (we had the invoice for it!) and sent a technician out to get information to ORDER THE PART, which was still under warranty; this technician muttered under his breath about "new guys who don't know anything," leading me to believe that whomever had been doing the diagnosing and who needed all the help to replace the lineset was acknowledged by other company employees as Not Having A Clue. They replaced the coil (part covered by warranty, remember!), refilled refrigerant that had been further depleted by all the horsing around and we went into the cooler months with the a/c seeming to work. We paid Magic Touch $4100.89 during that summer. The BRAND NEW air conditioner, the previous year, had cost only about $1500 more than that! Fast forward to spring of 2022 and guess what, the a/c isn't keeping up. We contacted Steve's Ultimate Air. They have identified the problem as the lineset, which apparently was soldered so badly on that marathon day that the whole thing needs to be replaced AGAIN. Steve's charge for this is under $500, however. Stay Far, Far Away from Magic Touch. They are bait and switch scam artists who send untrained and incapable technicians to your home and who do not stand behind their work. (and I don't know why Yelp says I'm in San Francisco, CA, must be a router thing, our house is in San Tan Valley) read more

3 year old unit installed by them stopped cooling. Tech stated the cause as the 'voltage absorption unit' and quotes ~$375 for parts and labor if he uses the part on the truck, or ~$550 for a part covered by the manufacturers warranty since it would require additional time to go get. Neither quote included the $75 service call feel. According to the manufacturer, there is no 'voltage absorption unit' in the system. The part was a simple capacitor which could be purchased for $20. The entire visit took less that an hour, so I can't tell you what the labor cost was. read more

Asked for someone to assess my natural gas fireplace. The tech inspected it . Said no gas problem..just " the burner needs to be cleaned". I did pay the 125$ service call..but was then quoted 425$ just to clean the burner. I told him i would get another estimate. He was very polite. However i have spoken with 2 other repair places who said that is a very excessively high estimate to clean only..that for their 185 visit cost they do include cleaning the unit. To be fair i called this company again to be sure no error had been made and they assured me that was the correct amount. read more

I contacted the company to diagnose the problem with my electric fireplace. The company claims to be experts at fireplace repair. The person they sent out was inexperienced. He had trouble opening the fireplace. Once he figured that out, he had to call his supervisor to walk him through what to check for. He took about an hour to finally come to what he thought was a diagnosis. Since he had to rely on his supervisor for guidance by phone, I had no confidence he even diagnosed the problem properly. Then the workman had a very difficult time reassembling the fireplace. It took him over an hour, and I had to assist by looking up the manual online. I highly recommend you find a different company for your fireplace repair. Here is a quote from their website. "we guarantee once our highly-trained fireplace technicians have rejuvenated your fireplace or fire pit, you'll not only use us again, you'll call us for the other services we provide". I recently had to get pool heat pump repaired, and asked my pool guy for recommendation. He had hard time finding someone, but found magic touch. They came out quickly and repaired pool. Technician was very kind and explained everything along the way. The only problem I had was the unit was low on r410a refrigerant. He explained the refrigerant cost for the first pound would be $251, and each additional pound would be $40. I was shocked at price, but I felt somewhat pressured to get the item fixed and after incurring an $89 the trip charge, I decided to do this. My total bill was $433 (trip charge, refrigerant, and two Schroeder valve stem covers). Afterwards I did some research and found another person that would have done the refrigerant for $30 a pound. That's a huge difference in price. While I thought this company did a good job explaining everything and with service, the pricing for their services appears to be EXTREMELY high. I'd make sure to shop around before committing to use this company. read more

We've had questions with a few technicians servicing our HVAC system, but their standard is very high and when we've had questions, they've satisfied us. The technician who came today, Jason, reaffirmed our loyalty to Magic Touch and why we will continue to be a loyal customer for many years to come. I am not one to disparage a business for no reason. However, the experience I had with this company has forced me to out this company for the terrible way we were treated when our AC went out. The man, Pete, showed up and told him all our AC equipment is down and not working. He looked at the outdoors unit s and saw a bit of frost on unit. I told indoor units were in attic and placed a ladder for him to attic. He climbed the ladder looked around from ladder and then came down. I thought it strange he did not check those units. His final suggestions, wait until morning, turn off all AC . Nothing on. In morning, move circuit breaker, wait a minute then start AC. I did exactly that. No AC. He charged us $600 which I payed. Day before. I wanted no part of them coming back. Called another Co. Technician went in attic and fixed it within an hour. Do not!! Do business with this company. They are awful. As an avid Yelper I was pretty upset to see such a good company get three one star reviews. I found Magic Touch through the BBB and also Angies list several years ago who came with marks so high I felt I had to try them. At the time I needed a whole new split level system. I also wanted to get my duct work checked out and a new return placed in my office to pull away from of the heat. Magic touch were not the cheapest nor were they the most expensive but their sales guy was sharp, credible and was not high pressure or fear mongering at all. I ended up with a terrific unit perfectly sized and the install was done exceptionally well in the attic. The install team was very professional and courteous of the fact they were in my home and left without a trace. Fast forward a few happy and cool years and magic touch came out today because my compressor unit would not turn on. I called at 7 am looking to leave a message but actually got someone on the phone. The air handler blew air but that was it. Elliott came out on time the same day and opened up the unit to find a dark spot on the circuit board from an obvious surge/spark. I immediately saw the dollar signs rolling but was very happy to learn that he was able to get it running by replacing the wire rather than the board. Elliott could have certainly taken me for a ride but he instead focused on a cheap fix and a surge protector for future protection which I will be picking up shortly. If you are considering a big and/or expensive job read up on other AC companies in the BBB and do you homework with the Registrar of Contractors of Arizona and I think you will find a history of my experiences to be the norm vs. the other three reviews here. read more

My wife and i spent a great deal of time when looking at HVAC and AC units as we needed to replace our old one. We spent months talking to companies, installers and decided on a Lennox with Magic Touch Mechanical, that was in 2012. We also got the 10 year maintenance contract which I highly recommend. It gives you two check ups per year. The techs that come out are courteous and professional. Last week we had a checkup and it was discovered that we could possibly have a leak and the cost would be over 450 to repair, because of labor costs. Well, I called the owners, Michelle and asked why we had to pay, apparently Lennox had problems with coil leakage and i was not going to foot the bill. Michelle and I spoke a few times and she agreed to send a lead tech out to look at the problem. Kevin, great guy, came out and spent 2 hours going over everything and discovered no leak, and no cost to us. Michelle was ready to foot the bill if there was a leak. We are happy with the way Kevin and Michelle backed the product they sold and installed and again, if you are buying a high ticket item, the maintenance contract for this item is well worth it. read more

They were low bidder inn a Trane unit that they installed two days later. The estimator and the install crew were all professional and courteous. I spent a lot of money for them to install a new ac unit. They made up lies about things, broke some facia boards and didn't tell me of fix it until I complained and threatened to call roc. The fixed the boards but didn't do a good job at it. My 16 year old daughter who has never done any wood work could have done the same crappy job. I would not use them again. If I could leave zero stars I would. This company was referred to me by Nest after I was trying to install the Nest thermostat. They were contacted by Nest and informed of the Honeywell thermostat I currently have and we agreed to the job and the price of $150 for installation. The guy shows up and had a very brief look at my thermostat and AC unit and said actually, sorry it's not compatible and then proceeded to bill me $75 for DIAGNOSTICS OF AC system. Outraged doesn't even come close. They quote a job and say they can do it and then bill me 50% just for saying it can't be done?! Horrible service, stay well clear!!! read more

We have had a very bad and exasperating experience with this company as it took several technicians over several weeks to convert our fireplace to a remote control operation. This was a very frustrating and time consuming experience . Of particular note are the emails we received from the company's owner regarding our complaints. His emails were, abusive defensive ,insulting and intimidating. We have never been treated this way in any of our experiences with other service providers. Stand by my prior review because, notwithstanding what Rich Morgan later claimed is Magic Touch's longstanding policy, that is precisely what happened to me with Magic Touch's technician Nate circa November, 2014. Again, I *met* with Nate for over an hour at my house, spoke with him multiple times thereafter, and what follows is a direct quote from an email (on Friday, 10/10/2014) to me from Nate (email me for forwarding of these original emails, if you like): "Magic touch does not line item the cost of a new unit installation...The cost is the cost...If earning your business, means a detail cost on every piece of equipment...I.e screws etc.. I hope the best for you." I hadn't, of course, asked him for the line item cost of any screws, refrigerant etc, but rather, just for the brand and part no. of the major components (ie., condenser and air handler unit) which were included in each of Magic Touch's (then) 6-tiered "premium plus", "premium", "gold", down to "value" packages. He said that he couldn't tell me that, called Michele M. on his cell (perhaps for show, perhaps to demonstrate to me that his management gave him no choice; I dunno), and she too refused to provide *any* additional details about what specific equipment, or what other subtotals (for example: for installation, the labor wtty., annual maintenance agreement etc) went into each packages' all-in price, or the monthly payments therefor. Their game appears to be to bundle both annual maintenance and a labor warranty together with (whatever, unidentified!) equipment they're offering you, and then charge one, all-in monthly payment for each such package. I, as it happens, was paying cash, and ended up (within a month) paying less for a 15-seer Trane system, than Magic Touch was quoting for a 13-seer, no-name brand. With *identical* warranties, that is. That multitudes of people on Kudzu etc appear to love their business model, personally tells me little; except, perhaps, that some folks are sheep, and don't bother educating themselves on what constitutes a fair deal. I've got no problem with companies making a profit, but when a company refuses, as Magic Touch did, to disclose even the make of $7K+ equipment they're trying to sell me, I consider that to be unacceptable, "hide-the-ball" tactics. Fortunately, no other HVAC company I contacted in 2014 employed such tactics. I asked for a seasonal maintenance. Well played in your response, same as your other ones to anyone that dared to share their opinion. You also mention how anyone who dares to challenge you, which you hide behind internet opinions, leave many other one star reviews. Not the case how ever you justify it I respect your opinion of me. If your looking to hire this company for a maintenance, beware there is no maintenance involved. They came out and charged $75 per unit to tell me everything that could go wrong and what I can replace. No cleaning, no filter changes, nothing. I contacted them left a message and sent a email. No response. Disappointed with this company. I will say the techs were very polite and professional and if you want a through idea of what's wrong or going wrong they would be fine. I should have asked what they deem a maintenance, assuming is what I did. I'm sure I'll get an "that's unfortunate" reply. I was hopeful someone would have responded to my call and email. We had a new AC/Heat unit install two years ago with Magic Touch and also have Magic Touch paid $$$$ preventive maintenance contract on our 2nd AC/Heat and the new Magic Touch unit. Our older unit leaked water in the attic and big water damage through the living room ceiling. I get it this happens on older units, but now learn the back up drains from the old unit did not drain because the new Magic Installed AC unit drains where hacked into and prevented the older unit to be able to drain correctly is why all the drywall damage! Plus I learned new Magic Touch units ducks not mastic sealed and was dumping cold air into attic the last two years! Magic Touch preventive maintenance has been out multiple times and they never said anything about air leaks or drainage issues. All I got from Magic Touch preventive maintenance was I need to replace an electric capacitor that was running at over 95% effective and I should pay them to have it replace this capacitor because its only running at over 95% capacity immediately.... LOL...... I was not born yesterday, over 95% working!! Now I have another company to install a new 2nd AC and Heat unit and fix the poor Magic Touch install drain issues and duct work on other unit and stop my Magic Touch "preventive maintenance plan".... read more
