I called them because they had a tune-up special through SRP. The tech arrived and never even removed the cover to the ground unit. It was low on freon and quoted 350.00 a lb. and said it would take 1.5 lbs. He never even checked capacitor output or really anything else. The special was 29.95 and really worth about 5.00. I wrote to president of company who had a some phony words of guranteed satisfaction on back of invoice but he never returned my email. Obviously, a poor managed company that will rip you off if you use them. read more

Disappointed is their customer service. I want to put 2 Mitsubishi mini split ductless hvac units in 2 separates garages at a house that is being built. I asked for any advice in preparing for the units installation during the house build, to facilitate installation once the house was finished. e.g.to have 220v service in garages. They said they won't do that, only when the house I'm finished. Of course, then it may be too late. Seems odd. Told them if they won't offer advice now they won't get the sale when the house is finished. I then called the installer I used at my other home in Austin and they gave me the advice I was hoping to get. read more

Hello and Good Afternoon, Where to begin. Well, the communication was great. They called and gave me the understanding they did not want the job from the get go. When Matt arrived he stated the the equipment I sourced for 7500 would cost me 25000 if I purchased it through them for an equivalent brand. He tried to sell me on the idea of rebuilding my entire AC system the way they wanted. In most systems, split systems if something breaks nothing works. Where is their job security. I am kind of glad he acted the way he did. With an attitude like that I do not think I would want him to work on such an important part of my home. So I HAD BUDGETED 15K (KEEP IN MIND MOST COMPANIES ARE SAYING IT TAKES THEM 3 HOURS FOR A 1 HEAD INSTALL) FOR THE INSTALL ALONE AND NOW I AM HAPPY TO SPEND IT WITH ANOTHER COMPANY. Edit: WOW, after reading these reviews I am really glad!!! You must have misunderstood. He was asking 25 k for the 2 compressors and 7 heads. If you want to talk about fairness let's discuss your 350 markup. My budget of 15 k was for the company to install it. I already had a quote from a licenced electrician to run the electric for about 450. He did offer to sell me the same brand unit your Yelp reviewers are complaining about, the one you claim zero responsibility for when they break. Either way, I am glad it worked out the way it did. So our ten year old Ac unit went down on Saturday afternoon. We called three companies, left messages and still haven't heard back. It's Sunday afternoon. We called Magic Touch at 9am on Sunday and a person actually answered. They said a technician would be out between 10:30 and 2:00. We got a call at 9:29am from Elliott the technician stating he would be at the house in 40 minutes. He arrived on time and quickly had the problem figured out. Long time customer, ready to look for a new a/c rep. They were fine when I bought the system from them; prompt and neat, installed when promised, fair price, etc. Since then I think I discovered their work model; find a customer, puff talk the equipment you're selling, then keep charging them as much as you can squeeze out of them every visit. I was told I bought a great unit, 5 year parts & labor warranty with 10 years on the compressor. Sounded great, no more annual bills for repairing the old unit. Within 3-4 months of purchase they contacted me, saying it was time for my first "check up". I said sure, come on out, She said there was a small charge for the service call, so I said forget it, it's a brand new unit, why should it need serviced so soon? She said they are required visits to keep the factory warranty in place. I fell for it and scheduled the maintenance visit. Tech found nothing wrong but tried to sell us an extended warranty plan and a surge compressor, all of which I declined. Started to understand the type company I'm working with. Now, this may sound harsh, but I am finished with them. The techs have always been friendly and professional, no problem with them, it is just the way they are all trained to sell, not to just fix any problem. read more

I had Magic Touch come out this past winter to service our gas fireplace. The technician did a great job so I decided to contact Magic Touch again this summer when our A/C unit went out. From the first call to the final completion of the unit, everything went very smooth. Everyone over the phone was very courteous and helpful. The gentlemen who did the energy audit was knowledgable, not a high pressure salesman. We also decided to replace the duct work and add insulation. The guys who came and spent long hot days doing the work were great! We highly recommend Magic Touch. read more

This is a dishonest company who sold me on a fireplace valve to lower my gas costs. When I found out from other vendors there is no such thing this company denied telling me this. Not only the workman who sold me but their supervisor said the same thing when I called the office. They then claimed my order was a customer order which was total BS. I cancelled the order before delivery and they kept $300. The workman also left a 7" gash in my glass dining table from his metal sales receipt folder. When they breached the contract by selling under false pretenses I couldn't do anything since they hadn't put their false claims in writing - most dishonest people know better. read more

Very good service recently on our 5 year old carrier AC unit. We noticed our air wasn't blowing as cold as it had been before and found this company online. They found out our AC had been leaking Freon because something was left loose after we had it checked by a different company. I'm glad it wasn't a bigger problem. First off here....It should be noted that my recently hired personal assistant wrote the complaint on Yelp. I thought if she would write something simple explaining the nature and issues about this fiasco Mr. Morgan at Magic Touch would simply fess up to his employee's mistakes and settle the matter. But no, his ego and arrogance will not allow a simple solution to an issue he and his staff are clearly at fault for. So, that said here is the truth and facts of the matter in more detail. Mr. Morgan, conveniently forgets to mention that his employees originally incorrectly installed something to do with the A/C draining system plus they forgot to make sure the drain lines were not plugged. Well the drain line on the A/C unit, over my garage, was plugged so the drain overflow pan filled up, the water dripped out for days and soaked the attic's insulation material until finally a large portion of the garage ceiling collapsed ! That was a beautiful mess that I personally had to spend 3+ hours cleaning up. Now keep in mind as I roll on here that I own 4 large, busy, A+ BBB rated businesses and several commercial properties here in the Valley (41+years). My time is valuable. When my contractor came over to see what caused the mess he noticed the drain pan problem and also some other things that were not done properly by Magic Touch. One "biggie" is the "air handler" (which is large and quite difficult to remove) was simply left up in the attic. Magic Touch removed one of the air handlers (2 A/C units, 2 air handlers) but some genius decided to leave the other one up there which is a direct violation of the City of Phoenix Building Code. Of course that violation is bad for Mr. Morgan's business reputation so he (again) conveniently forgot to respond to that part of my complaint. I called Magic Touch, told them of the issue (s) and they agreed to send someone out. The man that came out (all Magic Touch staff were courteous and polite) said that something wasn't done or hooked up improperly and he'd get it fixed ASAP. I believe it was at this time, that this employee went to check the other A/C drain line to be sure it was installed correctly and accidently stepped on my bedroom ceiling (drywall board). Sometime later... I was lying in bed watching TV and happened to look up and noticed the ceiling was "bowed" and further inspection showed it was cracked. Hmmm.... I wonder who's been up in the attic lately that could have caused that? Now, my ceiling is 14 feet high so you can imagine what a "breeze" it was to fix that unnecessary, time consuming, and very costly mistake. Once AGAIN take time away from my bus's so I can make appt's, be at home, wait for people to get here, watch them work, etc. This repair took several days because it has to be done in steps and by "two" people and scaffolding ! Matching the paint was also quite difficult because I have a unique "striping pattern" on the walls that had to be matched. Now a person who has read and is following this complaint should note that once again Mr. Morgan has forgot to mention this "ceiling event" in his responses. Not to me, Angie's List, Yelp, the Better Business Bureau or the AZ registrar of contractors. Hmmm... did he also forgot to tell you all that even though I paid him and his company $25,323.53 for two "Lennox" (who also don't give a damn, as they were informed about this issue) A/C units and have had all this trouble that he has NEVER even been to my home to see what my complaint was, the quality of work performed, or to apologize ? One of Magic Touch's employees (Rick I believe was his name) looked at a well-built and tiled structure that I had built to shade my old A/C unit and told me that I should take that structure down as it would inhibit air flow over the top of the new A/C unit on the West end of my house. That shade was appx 7 feet above the top of the new unit and completely open on both sides ! Well, I've had three (yes 3) professional A/C companies come out, look at all the work performed by Magic Touch and all 3 said taking that structure down was ridiculous ! So I paid to take down a perfectly good shade structure because "Rick" advised it was not good for the new A/C unit. The three professional A/C men (Gary @ Extreme Cooling, John Hall @ Action Air, and Jack Grunnell @ Grunnell Air Cond, all 3 were recommended by the BBB) have given me written statements as to what it will cost to bring Magic Touch's installation up to City of Phoenix code because it is not now. Mr. Morgan has never even spoken to me on the phone ! He has never given me the common courtesy of returning my phone calls (I've requested 2-3 times) from the beginning. And this is a A+ BBB rated business? His actions and unprofessional business behavior tarnish every reputable BBB member and the valuable service they provide for consumers. I bought a new AC system from these guys a few years ago, along with a $400+ extended warranty. When I needed warranty repairs a few months later, they told me they no longer work with that manufacturer, and they had sold my warranty to an insurance company. That company only contracts with the low end repair services, that you wouldn't want touching your AC. So I'm stuck with an expensive but worthless warranty. Let me start by saying I generally don't have time to write reviews but when a company stands out, be it good or bad I do try and take the time to let others know of my experience. Today I feel I must share my positive experience with magic touch. About 6 years ago I purchased a unit from magic touch. At the time I researched numerous companies and had 5 companies come out to give replacement quotes. I was immediately impressed by magic touch. I felt they were honest, friendly, thorough and overall just made me comfortable with what they presented to me. I chose magic touch and haven't regretted it. The work was clean, quick and done exactly as I was told it would be. I referred two elderly neighbors after this and both also had very pleasant experiences. It's so easy to be taken advantage of when you deal with contractors but NEVER has magic touch done this to myself or my neighbors. Today, after 6years in had to have magic touch come out for service. I admit I was past due for getting a tune up due to a busy work schedule. I dreaded hearing what my service costs might be due to my tune up neglect. Magic Touch could have easily quoted me for many expensive repairs but they did no such thing. My tech was polite, went over the work needed and got it done in a short amount of time. Was also delighted with how quickly the tech came out! I must say the women in the office are all very kind and easy to talk to. It's easy to write about this company for me because they are deserving of every word. read more

Bought an air-conditioning and heating unit from this company that breaks down regularly. Whenever I call to get the unit fixed under warranty be it winter or summer it takes Magic Touch up to 2 weeks to get the problem fixed. This last time I was told it would be 10 day before a service rep would even be available to look at it much less order a part and service it. This is Arizona and it is approaching 100 degrees this week right now and no one is available to look at my unit for more than a week? The machine I bought new from them less than five years ago at over $5000.00 has had to be repaired 5 times. The ugly word for this company seems to be Warranty and their inability to want to honor the warranties on the machines they sell their costumers. They sold me this machine that is a lemon and they don't want to service it when it breaks down? Why did they sell me the machine? Why do they not want to order parts for this machine and keep their promises about the warranty we purchased from the manufacture they suggested. We payed extra for that and then got another warranty from Magic Touch for an extended warranty for all workmanship and labor for 12 years? We are being charged for a service charge after all that too. I understand that things break down and need to be repaired, what I do not understand is this company not wanting honor the repair warranties it sold us in a timely matter. The last service man told us this company no longer sells our unit as it is a piece of crap, and we could go somewhere else to be serviced for our warrantees. This was after we caught him lying to us about ordering parts and getting approval for the PO from the insurer of the warrantee. Purchased a "deal" from Angie's List for a "gas log fireplace tune-up, cleaning and inspection" for $89. Services to be performed were listed in the Angie's list ad. Serviceman arrived - I said the fireplace burner was not lighting consistently and that's why I thought it might need cleaning. Was then told he would have to perform a "diagnostic" which would cost another $90 and he couldn't do any of the pre-paid "cleaning and inspection" if I didn't pay for the "Diagnostic". So I paid additional $90 for "diagnostic". Then I made mistake of asking if he could also clean the glass of the fireplace insert. Yes for additional $130. Expensive "because of the chemicals we have to use". He then proceeded to use a commercial product named Rutland White Off Glass Cleaner which can be purchased on-line or from ACE Hardware for $7.59 a bottle - and you just need a few squirts on the glass and wipe with a rag - a real bargain for $130 charge. Serviceman didn't seem to know any of the service in the Angie List offer - didn't know about "inspecting the chimney/vent cap"(which is located about 14 feet up on the side of my house) nor "inspecting/testing all carbon monoxide detectors" and "inspecting/testing all smoke detectors in home". And didn't do any of them. Enough said - buyer beware! read more

I was not going to write a review in Yelp for this Magic Touch but after reading the reviews that have been posted i felt like I had to. I had the worst AC technician (Ken) ever. I called them because the drain for the condensation tank was plugged. I suggested that he use compressed air and blow the line out and he recommended a "nitrogen flush". Well I never heard of this so I thought he's the expert. He then went and inspected my condenser. This is where it got good. He recommended 2 lbs. of R22 at a cost of $290. The unit was blowing cold air. if it was down 2 lbs. it would not blow cold. The fan motor is supposed to pull .8 amps. it was pulling .87 amps." You need to get that replaced because it is going to fail this summer." Really! that is utterly ridiculous. Oh and that nitrogen flush is $125.00. There were other ridiculous charges on the bill that brought it up to $1240.00 but that wasn't the worse of it. After he gave me the estimate i realized that this company is in the business of fleecing customers I just wanted to get him out of my apartment.When he put everything back together I had to tell him how to put the AC filters in. He put them in wrong. I don't blame him for his inexperience, i blame the company for their lack of training. From my experience this company trains their employees to use scare tactics of catastrophic failure on their customers. Rich Morgan wrote a response to my review. he did bring up some valid points. Now let me tell the rest of the story. I did not go with the estimate that was given to me by ken. Instead I called another AC company and they came out and unplugged the condensation drain with a vacuum instead of the $125.00 nitrogen flush. Savings $125.00. it did not end there. The unit quit blowing cold the next day after Magic Touch was there. I then called the reputable AC company to see what was wrong. the valve on the suction side was loose causing the freon to leak out. The magic Touch Tech did not check the valves after taking his gauges off. Cost of new Freon $529.00. Companies like Magic touch think everybody is mechanically inept and AC systems are magical things that take rocket scientists to work on them. In response to the owners comments, I have only reviewed ONE other heating and cooling company on yelp. It's unfortunate that this industry is so laden with fraudulent companies. I also have left multiple 5 star reviews for business' that are good. I'm sure the 600 positive reviews he speaks of are all legitimate (wink) but on the one site where users can leave reviews without paying a fee (yelp), his track record is not so immaculate. Lots of 1 star reviews buddy! Maybe you should spend less time combing the internet for negative comments and more time keeping an eye on your lying, scamming technicians and then customers might start leaving positive reviews for your company here. Or maybe that would adversely affect your profits and thus not in your best interest. For the record, the $3,500 repair his tech wanted to sell me included a part that has been verified to be in perfect working order by another company which I'll be reviewing on here soon. Notice that our esteemed owner does not comment to the fact that his tech tried to charge me $250/hr for labor. Nor does he try to explain why they wanted $400 for shipping for small parts. Not a comment about why they tried to replace parts that were working just fine. He does not address the real issue at all, just tries to bad mouth anyone leaving a negative review. For the record, the needed repair to my system is costing me exactly $1,050 including parts and labor with another BBB A+ company. Let's see him try to explain that.....nope he won't and can't. Stay away from this business. Although they get A+ ratings from Angie's List and the BBB, that means jack squat. I have a mechanical and highly technical and engineering background. I always enjoy the ridiculous explanations the techs give. In this case, I paid them to do a diagnostic on both of my systems. Here's a tip if your condenser fans and air handler fans are running, but the house is getting hot. Your capacitors are bad and the compressors are hard starting, which causes excessive starting current without capacitance. With each successive start, the motor gets hot and eventually trips off on thermal overload to protect themselves. Turn the system off, open all breakers and remove disconnects, remove those useless, noise attenuating blankets to allow the compressors to cool, replace the capacitors, then go for a restart. If your handy and understand electrical safety, go for it. If not call someone else like George Ott to help you. Any way, they wanted 275 to replace each capacitor. I bought them both for $70 at Grainger and did it myself. Be careful, working capacitors hold a high level of charge and must be discharged before handling. Their price was for an upper middle class neighborhood where they assume people will pay anything. Here's the laughable part. I was also told I had a "restriction" in my evaporator coil for one of the systems. They wanted to cut out my TXV orifice, a device that controls superheat, and rebraze it for a grand total of 1650. Well excuse me, but that's ridiculous. That included evacuating the system, cutting out "suspected" blockage" and brazing and recharging. Absolute nonsense. Stay away. Educate yourself first. Don't let companies like this rob you. I spent 230 total, including their service charge, compared to the 2700 they wanted. Stay away. By the way, my systems are cooling just fine. read more
