I noticed leaking on the top of our water heater. Called and talked to Gordon, he advised since we had an electric water heater, that we should turn it off at the breaker to not have it short out. Gordon gave me the number to call Dan and talk to him. We had a Rheem purchased in 2018, under warranty had new install in 2021 and now 3 years later, another issue. I phoned "The Water Heater Guy" first thing in the morning on Saturday. My 22-year old American Standard 40-gallon electric water heater developed a leak and flooded my garage. I was looking to replace it with the most affordable option within my budget. Gordon, the owner of "The Water Heater Guy", said he could replace my old unit with a new 50-gallon Bradford White electric unit for a total price of $1,400 (that included EVERYTHING...the water heater, installation, tax, clean-up and haul away of my old unit) within a couple of hours. Sure enough, Gordon personally showed up with his colleague, Dan, and they replaced my old unit within hours of my initial call. Gordon was very professional and communicative. He called to let me know they were on their way about half an hour before arriving. There was NO attempt at up-selling me other services or products. Had a 6 year old Sears 50 gallon water heater that started leaking from the bottom. The water heater had a 12 year warranty so I screwed around with the Sears warranty team for a few days. After sending a tech out who pointed out the obvious they agreed to replace the water heater at no charge. But, since Sears is no longer around they wanted me to go find a replacement and they'd reimburse me. After 3 days with no hot water I checked reviews and found Gordon. At first he didn't want to come to North Scottsdale but his coworker talked him into it. He wanted a picture of the current water heater and gave me an estimate over the phone. Thankfully he was able to come out that afternoon. They did a great job. They had to rework the copper pipes for the relief valve and did it in such a way that I now have more room on the side of the water heater. Because the site was easy to access and everything was in good shape he cut $100 off his estimate (honest guy - I wouldn't have known the difference). No complaints whatsoever. read more

I'll be honest, I was hesitant to trust a company with the name "The Water Heater Guy." However, he got some decent reviews, so I took a chance. Our master bathroom hadn't been getting very hot water for a while, so I called and left a message, and Gordon called back shortly and arranged to come out a couple hours later to check things out. Our water heater was about 9 years old, so Gordon let me know that units usually fail around 10-12 year mark in Arizona (which reflects what I've read elsewhere, too), but he checked things out and did a quick flush and nothing seemed to be wrong, so he just gave me his card but didn't charge me for the visit. A few weeks later, the pilot light kept going out and so we decided that since it was so close to the unit's end-of-life anyway, we'd replace the unit rather than trying to spend money to just fix the pilot light on something that might fail in a year. I called up Gordon in the morning and he answered immediately. I explained the situation and about 4-5 hours later, we had a brand-new water heater installed for a lot less money than I thought it would cost (we used to live in Montana and we had a special water heater that cost $5k, so I was dreading paying that much, but the new one here was nowhere close). Gordon and Greg are both gentlemen and scholars of their tradecraft.  Their affable nature and self deprecating wit made for a stress free and entertaining install.  For the stringent and value seeking homeowner, let Gordon be your guide and you can avoid the Siren call of subpar water heater models (big-box units - i.e. Home Depot).  His recommendation and vehement loyalty to Bradford White water heaters (plumber sourced, not big-box, significant difference in quality) is merited and based on his prolific experience on what works well in the Arizona environment.  His choice of the R150 slim design 50 gallon gas unit for my home was destined for Arizona and will laugh at you tauntingly even if you fail to flush out the system once a year (that`s pretty much everyone according to Gordon and that`s why the Bradford White will be a willing accomplice to your maintenance failures).  Their process of replacing a unit is thoughtful, clean and efficient (a new world record of 1.75 hours to complete, still on hold from the Guinness World Records office to confirm).  Considering I had some sort of Blob like beast lurking in my tank never before seen (a notoriety that I didn`t want to have and a cautionary tale, this was a big-box Whirlpool model), they flushed the evil right out with whimsical flare.  The end result looks picturesque compared to the previous install of chaotic piping angles and pimp my ride gas lines.  They also included a base pan for average leakage which is often overlooked by others.  And last, but not least, they are the best priced above all others I inquired by 20% or more and one of two purveyors that specialize ONLY in water heaters (If you need brain surgery, you go with the brain surgeon).  All in all, when it comes to water heaters, The Water Heater Guy is, and always will be, my go to.  Thanks fellas! read more

Wow! Had my old water heater start leaking. Called The Water Heater Guy at 1:30pm on a Saturday and he was here at 3:30pm and replaced my water heater and upgraded it from a 40 gallon to a 50 gallon by 5pm. Very professional. Cleaned up after themselves. Put in the sediment trap on the gas line which is advised but not required so I appreciate the extra effort and attention to detail. I will note their pricing for a 50 gallon unit installed was cheaper than everyone else that quoted me to have a 40 gallon installed. Great Service. Highly Recommend.
