We were impressed with not only their proposal and high ratings here on Google, but also importantly, their tech, Kevin Daly. Kevin was truly genuine in his assessment and carefully presented a very detailed proposal that was the most competitive of the 4 proposals. We also requested to have Kevin assigned to us for all future service visits as we admired his genuine enthusiasm for his profession and his excellent customer service attitude. Today, Western States Home Services sent tech Matt Arrellin to our home to carry out the actual work from our proposal. Matt was friendly, knowledgeable and professional. Technician Joel was knowledgable, polite, and quickly confirmed the suspected issue and performed regular service on the system. Altogether good service and the problem with this company does not appear to lie on the technicians. The problem is the unjustifiably high labor rates and the service contracts pushing like some sleazy used car dealership that is definitely a push down from a greedy and moronic management. You will overpay from service from this company, but if you get a technician like Joel it will at least be good service. This company seems to be another one in the HVAC industry that takes advantage of customers by overcharging labor rates and pushing services that are unnecessary to pad their bottom line. My recommendation would be to avoid or at the very least get a few other quotes so you can have a good laugh at how inflated Western States labor rates are. read more

I was having troubles with the Tankless Water Heater not turning on or producing any hot water. They sent Kevin who has a lot of experience and was able to diagnose the issue right away and was able to get hot water again. Kevin was nice and helped point out a few other issue items that could also help with water pressure and quality of water. Warranty covers the parts but not the labor. 1200 was going to be the labor charge so the technician talked us into a service contract. Had the full service inspection on my AC in mid March. Three weeks later, my AC started blowing warm air. How frustrating since I just had service. So, I called Western States with whom I have a service agreement with. The very next morning, before 9:00 am, Joe, Western States Field Supervisor knocked on the door. Within 20 minutes the issue was resolved and the AC is once again working like a charm. Best of all it was complementary. I am not happy at all with the service that I have been receiving from Western State Home services for the past few years. My AC had been making lots of noise which that was my every house call complaint. They would tell me my AC was working good which it was, but just very loud that the neighbors didn't like It, till finally the compressor gave out & all along, Western State knew why that noise was happening. They just wanted the compressor to totally go out and it did. I have warranty that covered it & paid for extended warranty which was A LOT. It was only parts& it did not cover the Freon. They were charging me $1440 for only 12 pounds of Freon . I complained to the supervisor Tyler I complained to the service guy Roy and they only took off $144 and I still HAD to go through them because of my warranty. They sent a co-worker Corey to fix my compressor. I told Corey I wanted to speak to Tyler and Roy. Corey even heard me call the office twice to speak to Tyler and they would tell me he's out the field and still didn't return my calls. Corey and I knew that neither of the two guys wanted to talk to me. l still had my AC fixed I had no choice, I was without AC for four days the day before fixing my AC they lent me a small portable tAC hat they had to go out and buy, Becuz the company did not own a portable AC to lend me for the last four days that I didn't have AC. Stacy the receptionist text me did not call me to saying they wanted me to give the portable AC to Corey when he was done with the job or else they would call the police on me. Because, I didn't want to surrender the AC to Corey. I didn't even want the AC all I Wanted is to talk to Tyler or Roy cause the price was so outrageous for the little bit of Freon that my AC needed. I would've wanted the police to have come over so they can see what's going on. They only spent $89 for the portable AC. At the end of the day l paid them more to have my AC to get fixed. I have another three years of warranty with them and l will start doing a lot of homework before ever referring people to Western State for a house call because as a woman I feel I was ripped off, and I should've taken it higher or called KGUN 9 to at least have someone on my side. I was in the market for a new Air Conditioning system. I did my research and opted for three quotes. I found Western States as one of the recommended companies by Carrier. The experience with Western States was 5 star from beginning to end. The estimator was excellent.. No BS that my job was somehow complicated like the other companies stated and was he was honest about what I should consider and not consider between the unit choices. Having quoted a fair price, I chose Western States. They were out next business day and installed beautiful new system in less than a half day. The installers were incredibly polite, knowledgable and efficient. Perfect job!!! Now, I have had the system almost two months and have been watching my electric bill. i would like by saying these people are good at trying to upsell things you don't need. The tech that came out talked a good story but underperformed his job his name was Joel. works most Saturday. If you think he took care of you think again unless he sold you something. Here is what happen with me. The tech came in great guy first impression and a veteran. I respect veterans I think that is how he got me. He did my ground unit just fine but then he did my top unit. Oh yeah I need to add I service my units every year and they are not too old and they have no issues. They told me they do coil cleaning as part of the tuneup for $39. He came back down with some issues and needs coil cleaning and the insulation on elbow was coming off. and other unit should have a hard start put on it. So this was going to be $400 for the hard start kit and $178 for coil cleaning. I let him know not at this time. He then proceeded to tell me he was going to give me a 2 year plan for free. He said to call him when I was ready then I gave him a great review. Big mistake. I then went on to Amazon and purchased the coil cleaner for $16 and the hard start kit for $17, the same one he was going to use. He told me he needed to go back up to finish up the unit on the roof. The parts came in on Wednesday and I went up to the roof unit and to find almost a dozen screws missing from my unit he had thrown them on a lower roof. I assumed he was not happy for not having him do the work that day. I called the office on Thursday to tell them what I found so they tell me they would send a different tech to do the Job again. The one girl told me Thursday they could get somebody out by 5 then about 430 I got a call and they changed to Friday. Then on Friday I heard nothing and about 600 I started to reach out finally at 630 they said they weren't coming and I could have Joel comeback on Saturday. What a joke have the same person come back. lol Be ware stay away from this company. What a joke. Get a second opinion if you use these people But better don't call this company read more

I am very glad to be posting this review because it originally was going to be a bad one. Our AC went out 4 years ago and Western States installed a new unit for us. Immediately something was wrong. Our new unit made half the house freezing and half hot - over 20 degree difference. I called the company and they refused to come out and I finally escalated to management after 3 weeks. They came out and immediately knew something was wrong (I told them!) And they replaced EVERYTHING with ANOTHER brand new unit at no cost. I was still a bit jaded, but was under an included service contract. Kenneth came out and was wonderful. That was a few years ago. That brings me to today when our AC went out last night and Kenneth again was the man sent out to our home. He was WONDERFUL. He was quick with diagnostics, he was thorough with checking multiple things, didn't seem like a salesman, was respectful and nice and professional, (remembered me and our house from years before), and explained his recommendations to me. I ended up getting a 5 year maintenance plan and a part add-on/fix for our unit because he was so great and explained the benefits well and helped with discounts. I have requested to try and get Kenneth every time in the future because he is so nice and knowledgeable. This went from a bad review because of a bad employee (that they fired for HORRIBLE install) to a 5 star one redeeming the company because of a great employee. read more

Called this company from info on SRP website to come investigated a sewer smell coming from both our air conditioners. We had our vents cleaned and one unit installed recently, so we we were able to eliminate some possible sources ourselves. When we called Western Stars they said they would send someone to help us find the source of the smell for no cost. When the rep from the company came he asked us a few question and then proceeded to try and sell us an Aero seal process and air scrubber for two units at a cost of $11,000.00. The rep did not go up on the roof, look in the attic or attempt in any physical way to find the source of the bad smell. Long story short, my husband ended up finding the problem and we called another company who came out and fixed it for free. VERY disappointed with the service from Western states! read more

PLEASE READ!!! I wanted to give potential customers of Western States Home Services my real-life experience. On Tuesday 3/28/23 my technician Kevin Daly came to my house to perform the annual maintenance on my A/C unit. Kevin was very nice and as he was inspecting things, he asked me if I ever considered having my A/C sealed. I didn't know what that meant, he explained it, and I thought I would benefit from the service. I scheduled the service for 4/14/23 and Kevin left my house. On 4/14/23 Travis McCluskey and Matthew Arrellin came to my house to perform the A/C seal and clean my dryer vent. Minutes prior to their visit I was in my bedroom moving stuff out of the way, and I have a little jewelry box on my dresser. My chain/cross was in that jewelry box as I haven't worn it the last couple months. I also had a heating pad on my dresser, and I decided to roll up the heating pad and place it on top of the chain to conceal it, so it wasn't right there out in the open. As the workers finished, I decided to get my vacuum out and start cleaning all the dry wall dust in the carpet, etc. As I was in my room, I moved the heating pad and noticed my chain was gone. I was really upset as I just saw it there hours earlier. I walked downstairs and confronted both Travis and Matthew and they told me they did not take it. They emptied out their pockets of their jeans inside out and it wasn't there, and they told me I could search their vans. So, I searched their vans, went through their trash etc. In these vans there are 50+ bins, thousands of a/c components, etc. Keep in mind also, that these workers are in and out of your house 20+ times a visit, because they forget this in their van, they need to take this to the van when they are done, etc. They can literally hide something anywhere. It would be impossible to find it. Also, I know when something is stolen, it's gone. They could put it in their shoe, sock, underwear, etc. Then they'll empty their pockets and send you on a wild goose chase. I was so upset considering that I saw the chain just hours before and it was something my dad have given me. After they left (after 5pm) I called the office, and it was closed. The GM called me back, and I believe his name was Tony and I asked Tony if any other customers had reported theft from Travis or Matthew. He mentioned that he had known Matthew for 5 years and he has known Travis for 1 year but has known his mom for a while. After this phone call, I had Kevin's cell phone number and called him. He was upset that this had happened to me, and he decided to call both Matthew and Travis and of course they denied it to him as well. They both denied it to him as well. Everyone mentioned that they hope I find my chain. All I know is that it was there minutes before they got there, I didn't go in my room and play with it and put it somewhere else while they were there, and after the work was complete, it was gone. It's sad that we're at a point where you can't trust anyone to do work inside your home. Kevin Daly is a stand-up man and employee of Western States Home Services. I would consider having him back in my home to do maintenance, but I wouldn't trust anyone else from Western States Home Services in my home again. This place has great salespeople that suckered me into buying 2 units for 2 different homes I own and have been trying to get me to purchase a third. So glad I didn't. Not only do they not know how to fix their equipment, but it failed a little over 2 years after install and they won't stand behind it and make it right. It's just about the money. They also lie. If I could rate 0 stars, I would. We reached out to this company because we've had issues with our AC unit and were hoping to get it checked out. A technician came and looked at our units, and said that the pipe was clogged. So he cleared the pipe and told us it should work better now. While the air conditioning did improve, we noticed a leak in our downstairs bathroom and realized it was coming from the AC Units upstairs. It damaged our entire bathroom wall. We called them that night and informed them of the leak. Tony, the manager, answered and told us he would take care of the drywall damage and send someone out in the morning. We also called the fire department because we were concerned about the leak behind the light switch in the bathroom. The firefighters came and took a look at our AC units too, and immediately told us that the technician messed up with the pipes and that was what was causing the leak. The next morning, the same technician came and had a look at the units. After taking a look, he informed me that when he cleared the pipe, part of it must have broken off which caused the leak. He then had both AC units going down one line instead of the two, and said it would be a temporary fix. He told us to call them after 24 hours to let them know if the leak had stopped or not. The leak did stop and I told them, and asked when they were sending someone out for the drywall damage. They told us they'd get back to us. At this point, I looked on yelp to see their reviews and saw some that had similar situations, but they said this company went back on their word and started to avoid them. When we called again, they told us that because our AC unit warranty expired, we would have to renew it (and pay for that) for them to fix the drywall or we would be charged for the drywall expenses. I told them I didn't understand why I had to renew my AC unit warranty for them to fix my drywall damage. They weren't even going to be looking at our unit, they were just supposed to come for the drywall, so that made no sense. When I said this, the guy on the phone couldn't argue. He said "Yeah I get what you're saying. Let me go check." It was obvious they were trying to get away from taking responsibility. The guy came back on the phone and said that from looking at the technician's notes, it seemed that the leak was caused by a broken pipe, and because they didn't install that pipe themselves, it's not their responsibility to cover the expenses to the damage. I then explained that the technician had originally told me that the pipe broke off due to the work he had done. So it was caused by them. Again, the guy had no argument, if anything he seemed surprised by that. It was clear that the technician didn't include that part in his notes. The guy on the phone told me that the manager will get back to me. I told him that I've seen the reviews online and know that they tend to avoid their customers when they're obviously in the wrong. So I asked him to get his manager right then. Obviously, that didnt happen. He said his manager was unavailable and they'd get back to me. It's been two weeks and no word from them. I can't say I'm surprised because I literally called it. Sorry for the long review, but please don't pay for services from this company. Incredibly rude and disrespectful. They don't even have the decency to take responsibility for their mistakes. I will be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau. I took a video of the damage, but I can't upload that. I called several companies that claimed 24-hour service or emergency service and the only positive response I received was from Western States. Joe was at my house less than one hour later. Before 11pm I had cold air. I really appreciate, on a very hot night, that Joe from Western States is willing to go the extra mile and work when other techs are at home in their air conditioning.
