This company went ABOVE AND BEYOND. We had tree roots grow into our sewer line causing sewage to periodically back up into the house. We got a quote from Second Opinion and one other company. Not only was Second Opinion's price more reasonable, their inspection was very thorough and they called blue stake out before giving us a quote so we knew they had all the information before starting the project. The owner was incredibly kind and great to work with. He and his apprentice showed up right on time, were very professional, and explained everything he was going to do. He was careful working around our drip lines and left the front yard spotless afterwards. This was a big job that we were dreading getting done but they made it surprisingly painless. We purchased a water heater through them about a year ago and everything went smooth. I gave them five stars for how friendly and professional the tech was. They were a little pricey but not the absolute worst and I felt taken care of. Our AO Smith water heater died and Second Opinion came right out and installed a new Rheem and even installed a Grundfos hot water recirc we had. I called them back to do a hot water flush of the water heater a year ago. Stupid me but I didn't know that a flush only entailed hooking a hose up to the water heater and opening a valve. The plumber was nice enough to show me how to do it myself but charged me over $100. I thought that was a little ridiculous but lesson learned. What really pissed me off about this company is we had a plumbing emergency on July 4 where a cartridge went bad in one of our showers. We tried replacing it ourselves but couldn't get the old cartridge out and we couldn't get the water to turn off without shutting the main water off. We called Second Opinion, no one answered. We called again and no one answered so we left a voicemail. To this day no one has called us back (writing this on July 11). How do you do that to an existing customer? There was no indication they were closed. Had they called back and apologized and stated they were closed I would have been ok with that but to just ghost me completely? Unacceptable. I guess they got my business but they won't be getting anymore from me. read more

I had SOP replace my water heater due to a slab leak of the hot water pipe under my garage wall at the beginning of the year. Charles did a great job with the pipe re-routing in the garage. Had some issues with the smell of the hot water still smelling rubbery after about a month of the install of the water heater. They came back to change out the anode rod with a different type and it helped, but also suggested getting a water softener/filtration. Than a few months later I was experiencing some issues with intermittent water pressure and cold temperature in the master shower. Charles came again to service it over the holiday weekend just now and diagnosed the cartridge and it said it was not needing to be replaced just yet, but adjusted the water heater temp, and charged nothing for the trip this time. My wife and I had a pipe suddenly burst, and found about a half inch of standing water in our laundry room. To make it worse, we found this at 6:00 in the morning. We called Second Opinion Plumbing and they had a person there within a few hours. Joe shown up and did an absolutely amazing job. They found the leak, and fixed it very quickly. I called Second opinion for a quote on a water softener repair/replace, replacing a tank on an RO system, and yearly maintenance on an electric water heater. Kyle came out gave me the estimate, and replaced the tank on the RO system. I liked the estimate and he immediately got to work on replacing the water softener. When it was time to start the water heater maintenance, we found that a previous plumber (NOT from Second Opinon) had literally gummed up the nipple for the anode rod, which rendered the water heater unable to be maintained. Kyle went and got a new water heater from his on hand stock, and replaced it too. Kyle did all this in one afternoon when it was originally just an appt to give a quote. (Second Opinion does a free estimate appt, before they do the work) The work was well done, the systems look great, they have great reputability, and both require no user interaction (past adding salt or potassium to the water softener when the tank is low) on any regular basis. Second Opinion was fast. through, and provided a lot of value for the work that was done and for the replacement appliances/systems. Chose SOP based on their Yelp rating to look at my water heater and they definitely lived up to it. Within 5 minutes Charles delivered the bad news that I would need a new water heater and mine was about to burst. That said, he took the time to review everything to make sure there wasn't a some way to possibly just repair. Beyond that, he explained what to do to help maintain the new heater, and pointed out the previous unit was soldered into the pipes, so he made a point to switch them to threaded connectors so that when the new unit needs to be replaced, if I felt comfortable I could replace my self.
