Within 5 minutes Charles delivered the bad news that I would need a new water heater and mine was about to burst. That said, he took the time to review everything to make sure there wasn't a some way to possibly just repair. Beyond that, he explained what to do to help maintain the new heater, and pointed out the previous unit was soldered into the pipes, so he made a point to switch them to threaded connectors so that when the new unit needs to be replaced, if I felt comfortable I could replace my self. Jacob came over today to diagnose a problem that's been going for years, a leak originating from the bathroom upstairs making its way down to the ceiling on our kitchen. He cut the drywall and after that ran the water in the tub and it slowly started dripping. He was able to pinpoint that it was a recent badly installed tub spout with a corroded pipe that was causing the leak. Jacob was very professional, transparent and honest and I learned a few things just from talking to him and he consequently cleaned up. I hired Second Opinion to rebuild the manifold for our water main, we had a failed pressure regulator and corrosion on other parts. Second Opinion gave us a very good price, they really didn't overcharge on parts and labor, and Chris was great to work with. I do wish the final assembly looked more aesthetically pleasing. The main line from the street came in at an angle, which accounts for some of the lean, but I think the assembly could have been evened out and squared off. When Chris finished I did tell him everything looked fine, but after a few days it's starting look a little odd. Overall I'm happy that we got a great deal, I'd probably pay a little more for perfect aesthetics but it's not a deal-breaker. I'll probably end up painting the copper to match the house and hide the lines. NOTE: I had already been digging around the area so the disturbed rocks/dirt were my mess not theirs. read more

I had a very bad root problem that had come through the sewer pipe to the base of my toilet. Second Opinion Plumbing came out to solve the clog and discovered the cause. Their quote for repair was $1,000 less than a popular national competitor and their technical approach was far superior (they also even gave me a credit for the initial visit.) They were able to access the pipe through a bedroom closet and conduct the repair, greatly reducing the total cost of the project compared to the competitor who wanted to break some bathroom tiles to access the pipe. Finally, they had a tree root preventative treatment that was better than what the national competitor proposed (I researched it when comparing quotes.) I could not be happier with my service from Second Opinion. I had a bit of an emergency since an irrigation valve broke in my front yard. I rent part of the property out so it was imperative that I get it resolved immediately to get my water back on. Their plumbing tech Charles was fantastic. They were booked out but he squeezed me in same day since it was an emergency. He looked it over and since he had the parts available and was able to to dig it up, cut out, and cap the pipe in about 30 min, he did it at no charge likely saving me hundreds of dollars.
