Tavares Plumbing advertises as "flat rate", so I called. He promptly called back and gave me a flat rate (50 gal heater $935, added warranty,10 year total, $250) $1135 for exactly what I needed. Honesty and not gouging, imagine that! He said he'd be over the next day and he was! And the price was exactly what he said. He let himself in my garage, did the job and left after cleaning up and making sure my garage door was locked. P.S. I was able to check on the progress via my security cameras. Recently, one of the pipes connected to our water softener in the garage suddenly burst late at night, around 11:00 PM. A large amount of water sprayed everywhere and flooded the garage floor. We contacted two other plumbing companies we found online, but unfortunately, neither of them responded. Thankfully, we found American Plumbing & Rooter. When we called, Rich answered the phone right away and was incredibly helpful. He quickly scheduled an appointment for us, and a plumber arrived at 8:30 the next morning to replace the damaged water softener. We were very impressed with how efficient, friendly, and professional they were. The plumber was patient and took the time to explain why the pipe had burst and gave us very helpful recommendations to prevent similar problems in the future. Their follow-up service was also outstanding. A few days later, Sunday night, we were surprised to discover that we had no hot water. We texted Rich to ask what might have happened, and he responded very quickly. He explained that when the water softener pipe burst, the large amount of water spraying out may have extinguished the pilot light on the nearby water heater. He then patiently walked us through the steps to check it. Sure enough, the pilot light was out, exactly as he had explained. He also guided us step by step on how to relight it, and we were able to get our hot water back. We are extremely happy with the service we received from American Plumbing & Rooter. She became incredibly rude and dismissive within minutes, eventually yelling that she had spent "too much of her precious time" on me and didn't have any more time to waste. I was trying to remain polite, but the kinder I was, the more aggressive and "bitchy" she became before eventually hanging up on me. This company is not a service provider; they are a shield for home warranty companies looking to scam their customers. They prioritize high-priced out-of-pocket upsells over honoring their professional obligations. After the service guy came out, which he was very nice and knowledgeable, he stated it was the 2 small switches in front and our transformer underneath. Stated it was $680 - $125 for everything. We agreed but they stated they had to order the parts and they would come back the following week around Tuesday. Tuesday came and we did not hear from them. I called them on Wednesday and they stated the parts came in and would have someone call me. Again, another day went by and no one called. I had to call back in where they told me they could not come out until Tuesday or Wednesday of the following week and would put us on the 1st stop at 8am. We scheduled for Tuesday. 8:20am came by and no word. I called and asked if someone was coming and the lady stated the service guy had to stop by the parts store to pickup the parts and then would head our way. The guy finally showed up at 8:45am. Mind you, I was advised the previous week by 2 people the parts were in and they already had them on hand. After the service guy installed the 2 switches which took about 10 -15 min, he started on the transformer. After we swapped out the transformer, he proceeded to advise us that it was not the transformer but most likely something with the internal wiring and they would have to pull the built in fridge out and start to tear things apart to find out where the break in the wire was bad. We did not want to spend the money on that. They ended up billing us $400 for 2 switches. I spoke to the manager and he stated they don't charge by the hour, just what the billing time states for the parts. I asked him for a breakdown of labor and parts and he stated they don't do invoices that way. I would assume it is THEIR way of covering all the labor they did on our fridge for something that did not need to be replaced which they misdiagnosed from the beginning. Now, here comes more horrible service: I looked under the fridge to see how things were put back as I had a bad feeling after what they did on the above. The service guy only put 1 screw back on to hold the cover plate. He did not put the other 2 screws on. After I took the cover plate off, the service guy did not put the transformer cover back on as well. He shoved it back under the fridge and put all the screws under the fridge laying on the ground. Every time you call this place, they asked you how they can put a smile on your face. What a joke. I would never use this company nor recommend them. They did not finish the job and wasted our time/money.

Donald did a good job at a reasonable price replacing an angle stop valve for the supply line for…read moremy toilet. It was a nightmare situation as a previous contractor broke it and left me abandoned and my main water supply wouldn't turn off so I could literally not sleep for 24 hours as I had to empty a bowl every 30 to 60 minutes (the supply valve is low so it would not accommodate anything larger underneath) or it would flood and ruin the new flooring that was just installed. It did ruin my brand new baseboard that I had just had installed the day before. He kept blaming me saying by turning the giant nut I somehow ruined the pipe which I don't understand but I did everything to try and loosen the bolt under urgent and impossible conditions and stress and I found no special instructions or tool that specified one as a necessity to use on it in all my research or that I had done anything wrong, but it had been there for 30 years and was fused on tight and wouldn't budge even with two vise grips. With the flooding happening I was desperate to get it removed so I thought that his continuous commentary was strange. He also said I had to loosen that nut clockwise as if it were reversely threaded but discovered that was not the case multiple times in my research so again I'm very confused. If something had been critically missed I wish he would've at least told me or made it clear what my alternative was otherwise assigning blame does little good; I am not an experienced plumber. I did not see nor was ever shown how he ultimately removed it so the whole point was moot. He walked off with my channel locks which I informed him of immediately after he left. He said he didn't have it then the next day he said he did but that he couldn't return them until after I left the area for a couple weeks at which point I told him he could drive out to my house. Luckily he changed his mind and returned them that morning as it really isn't my responsibility to retrieve them. I had been thru two days of hell from the previous contractor with 8 hours sleep over three nights. But he did the job and it took him no more than 15 to 20 minutes. There's a really big gash in my wall now where the valve is but I guess he had to do that to cut the pipe. I will have to find a wall cover plate or something to hide it or else patch it up. I then had to call another contractor to check the toilet seating as the flooring installer who left me with the leaking supply valve was supposed to handle it but did not do it right. Ultimately I had to hire three contractors in 36 hours for the same bathroom.
