There was no option for ZERO STARS!!!
We've had a long and, heretofore, satisfying relationship with Roy Dossey Plumbing, Inc. They've always been responsive to our plumbing problems. However, a $300 "flat rate" charge for parts and labor, plus a $50 "warranty fee" to replace a defective A.O. Smith water heater that Roy Dossey Plumbing, Inc. installed is exorbitant despite a Roy Dossey employee's assertions of being one of the cheapest plumbers in the Valley!
A Dossey plumber was only on our premises for a bit over one and a quarter hours! Even allowing for the skyrocketing cost of copper (tubing parts installed) these days, that "flat rate" fee still equates to well over $125/hour for labor to replace the inferior unit installed by Roy Dossey! What firm garnered those extravagant "parts and labor" fees? Roy Dossey, Inc. of course! What's the justification for customers to pay additional labor charges to remove defective units and install new ones? Oh, and guess what else? There is absolutely NO additional warranty on the new unit! All guarantees expire on the installation anniversary date of the defective unit! Besides, what good is a warranty if consumers must pay a stiff price to exercise their warranty rights?
It's immaterial that Roy Dossey, Inc. has to pay that bogus warranty fee to A. O. Smith! We challenged our costs in writing, and requested a written, detailed, itemized accounting of these fees from Roy Dossey Plumbing, Inc. Instead, we quickly received a telephone call that essentially passed the buck along to A.O. Smith; we were told to call them!
We could find no listing in the local phone directory for this firm, but a cursory on-line investigation into its products yields predominantly negative comments about their hot water heaters, their warranty services, and their warranty fees! In fact, there were very few favorable comments made about A.O. Smith at all. Yet, Roy Dossey, Inc. stands behind this product. A.O. Smith's customer service is a myth and so, apparently, is that of Roy Dossey Plumbing, Inc.
Honesty and integrity are of paramount importance in the business world. These firms' practices are unscrupulous and unethical. If companies won't stand behind their products, warranties, and services, it's time for them to get out of business! read more
