The air conditioner seemed to be struggling a bit to cool the house in the relentless heat, so I called our longtime family provider Bumble Bee to schedule a checkup, and they were able to work me in soon. Their workman Dylan changed the indoor filter, which was overdue, and then went up on the roof in the searing heat to do a full assessment. He took several photos of what he found and a video of his efforts to budge the whirly birds, which were not operating. Back inside, he reviewed the photos and video with me and explained in technical detail how faulty equipment and grime buildup were hampering the system's air flow. He described the new equipment and cleaning that were needed and gave me an estimate of the cost. Throughout the process, Dylan was courteous, professional and thorough, and there was no pressure. Bumble Bee has been reliable and trustworthy over the years, so I didn't hesitate to follow Dylan's recommendations. Wow, what a difference! The temperature outside went even higher after Dylan left, and yet the AC was operating more as you'd expect in fall than at the height of a summer heat wave. I actually have to keep an extra tee-shirt at the ready to toss on at times, and sometimes I have to raise the thermometer up a notch or two. This was all for a very reasonable price. Bumble Bee offers a twice-yearly checkup program so I renewed it and will have another check-up in December to ensure the heating system is working its best. I had called into their office to get a quicker appointment as my ac went out after the major dust storm earlier this week. Elizabeth answered the phone and was very kind and professional, helping me set up an appointment for the next day. The company is women owned and you can tell, as they sent out an email and text with the estimated time of arrival and a short bio and photo of the tech coming. Jacobie was the tech that came out. Immediately he was super professional, asked to come in and wore booties over his shoes so as not to damage the flooring. He walked me through his ac health check and, luckily I was just needing to replace some filters - which he offered to do right then and there. Our HVAC units were original with the house and overdue for replacement. I went through Yelp to enlist four bids, and all were courteous and similarly priced. What tipped the selection to Bumble Bee was that the sales guy Chad had obvious installation experience and determined that our ceiling openings and previous installs were not standard. This restriction led us to particular models of Trane units that would fit without cutting large chunks out of our attic ceiling and infrastructure. The other guys had not figured that out. Install began on scheduled time and literally everyone we have encountered with Bumble Bee has been polite, friendly and careful to clean up once finished. In the end they had to widen the entry panels slightly and agreed to patch and paint at their expense on a subsequent visit. They also provided us with a portable AC unit on the day of install to keep us comfortable in 110 degree heat. After install, we had issues with one side of the house not cooling to our satisfaction. I contacted Elizabeth, who cheerfully sent out a tech the next business day. He adjusted the blower unit in the ceiling and checked all the connections - and made it clear that if it was not better, to call them back. Although we did get marginal additional air coverage, it still was not pumping sufficiently - and Bumble Bee worked with us happily and continually until the problem was detected and resolved. Our non-standard house required a non-standard duct attachment, which was provided at no charge. I have waited for job completion to write this glowing review - which concluded with the repair and finishing of our damaged ceiling access panels. Bumble Bee added framing kits that have made them look even much better than before the project. I give you all this detail as there is so much more to selection than just price and brand selection. They are a fantastic company. I got my AC replaced 2 years ago and have continued to do a maintenance plan with them. Everyone is so nice and helpful. I contacted them this morning to schedule my biannual maintenance checkup and was surprised to hear that they could head out the same day if I was available. First off, get quotes from other companies. Bumble Bee was $7,000 more expensive for a similar HVAC replacement from another reputable fully licensed competitor with a full warranty. I had used BBAC for a repair a few years back. A simple capacitor for a few hundred bucks. This year I called them back and they diagnosed that my AC system had leaked out all the refrigerant and it wasn't worth repairing my 20 year old unit. The tech's were polite and professional. They took pictures of the thermostat and various components inside the unit. The service charge was $150. The quote for a replacement low end 13.4 seer2 5 ton single stage packaged heat pump was over $14,000. This included the basic removal and installation. No added insulation or duct work. I'm glad I got other quotes as I saved a significant amount of money going with another company. I'm not sure how much overhead and profit incentives BBAC has, but I simply couldn't afford their prices for an equivalent system. Overall, 3 stars means "OK". Just too expensive for my budget. read more

Our 26 year old heat pump was due for replacement, and they were one of the five companies I had bid the job. I've worked with many different service technicians on a variety of projects over my 70 years and I can honestly say that my experience with Dylan was one of the best. I had two tough intermittent furnace issues with my two rooftop units. Dylan worked through each issue methodically and as he did I could tell that he really excels at his craft. For me, honesty is a big plus and Dylan had that in spades. He explained everything in detail in language I could understand and gave me some great advice to get the best out of my two units. We started by Having them install a new central air unit and insulting our attic. From the consultation, quote, options and installation everything went well. When the SRP rebate didn't come for the unit, BBAC even sent us that check to make it good. The level of honesty is so appreciated. We have been having them do twice a year maintenance to make sure our unit is working it's best as well. Today we had them come back to install a mini split unit on our addition and again, they sent enough people to do the job in an efficient manner. Hi Lisa Bayne, There was absolutely not a misunderstanding whatsoever, but rather a misrepresentation of the "preventive maintenance membership" that you sell, then unilaterally and retroactively revoke, simply to maliciously and unprofessionally, try to take money from your clients that were honest, communicated very clearly and just because you couldn't commit to the very specific request and you lost the business, you want to increase your cost and unilaterally terminate the membership. I paid for the membership in full for one year and YOU cancelled it. That wasn't my choice. You mention that I received a "coil cleaning" that was needed, yet the irony is that I just received a cleaning from a different provider that I can document. I signed up for the membership to "receive 10% off for future repairs" but what you are DECEIVING your reviewers is that when YOU don't win a bid and cannot meet the clients request, as I have documented in writing, you will change the narrative and try to steal our money. You cite that 90% of your business comes from referrals, and I was actually referred to you by a very well known property manager. I trusted his opinion, however, you have clearly demostrated that you are NOT a trustworthy company and more importantly, I don't you're a trustworthy employee given how you have misrepresented the facts. I will upload our text conversation which clearly contradicts what you say. You allegedly have a "recorded conversation" that you DID NOT disclose, as you said you did, and and I would really appreciate if you would publish such a conversation so you can really expose how shady of a manager you are representing Bumble. For your readers, I have paid for ALL services rendered, including a proration of the "membership" that was deceiving SOLD to me as it was something LISA cancelled and now wants to INCREASE the bill RETROACTIVELY which is shady in my opinion. Lisa insist on collecting, retroactively by reversing the benefits I PAID for on the membership, to attempt to steal $145.58 MORE, simply because they could NOT meet the timeline I clearly have communicated in writing. Outstanding company with wonderful service! Our A/C broke in early August 2021 and our home warranty couldn't find a contracted tech that could come out quickly enough, so the home warranty allowed me to find a local vendor. Bumblebee happened to be the ONLY company, of the first five that I called, willing to work with the warranty company on getting paid for the service call. Bumblebee's tech, Krys determined our old A/C unit needed work beyond a simple fix. The tech contacted our home warranty company and recommended the unit be replaced. I'll skip the back and forth between our home warranty, Bumblebee and myself, but suffice it to say, our home warranty never intended to offer to pay for replacement of the unit and replacing the compressor would have taken several weeks, due to shortages. Keep in mind, the early August temps were around 110 degrees with high humidity and we have a 2.5 year old. Without asking, Bumblebee stepped in to help my family, during the hellish bout of hot weather. The owner, Lisa, offered to provide 2 portable A/C units and I set those up in our baby's bedroom and in our bedroom. Now, we didn't have to stay at a hotel! Flash forward to about a week later and I was getting nowhere with the home warranty deciding on how they wanted to proceed with a solution. I purchased a new unit from Bumblebee and they happily replaced the old unit with a new one in a matter of a day and a half. Krys reconnected our smart thermostat and we're happily enjoying nice indoor weather again! Thank you to Bumblebee's entire staff that I have worked with: Krys, Lisa, Nicole and Jim. You were all so friendly and thoughtful! *Tip* Put money aside for any home repair or maintenance issues. I found out the hard (and very hot) way that our home warranty is only going to replace the unit if it's beyond repair i.e. the coils fail on the unit. The warranty company will simply continue to charge you your annual fee and service call fee to put band aids on your A/C unit or other major appliance. Add to that the shortage in A/C units and components and I think we would have waited several weeks before our warranty company would have been able to "fix" our aging unit. read more

I have used Bumble Bee for years for A/C repairs. Always 5-star service and great technicians. This weekend my unit finally gave up the ghost. Refrigerant for that model is no longer legal. I really had a good experience with these guys. We installed two AC units, a 5 ton and a 2 ton plus 2 new furnaces. First of all they did a good job, everything neat and clean and made sure everything was working right when they left. The company employees were wonderful to deal with. Equally important to me was that they were really knowledgeable. I am integrating the new HVAC system with a new solar system. There are a number of engineering considerations when you do that.
