My AC in the Chandler rental was down. My regular guy was out of town. I gave these guys a try after reviews and they were in Chandler. And after all I was looking for a new ACguy. Upfront, they wanted $89 for diagnostic/trip charge and WILL NOT waive the charge If you end up going with them. When the guy got there, he said the fuses are out. So before any diagnostic, he needs to replace a fuses and repair some wires which is like $260. After that he It says he needs to install a hard start capacitor kit $400 or the unit won't start. So looking like $775 total. At that point, I felt that these prices are a bit on the high side. Hard start kit is like $50 in materials and 3 wires to hookup. I know this well cuz I repair my own AC at my own house. I called the office and they suddenly said the hard start kit was optional. Some confusion with the appointment on the day scheduled. Apparently, the tech who was supposed to show up couldn't make it, so they wanted to schedule when I already had another company scheduled. So they contacted me to say that "Jorge" would be coming to the house. I found him to be arrogant, especially when I made it clear that I would not be making a "conduit" between the two bedrooms. It was like I didn't say anything at all. Then, when he quoted me $6345.25, I told him that he was WAY out of the ballpark, and that was the end of the visit. I was a loyal customer of Croffoot Air before Superior bought them. My heat went out so I called Superior. 3 visits and a $600 valve later, I woke up to no heat. I called another highly rated company and in 1 visit I now have heat (they were able to find the problem, make a small adjustment, and the valve apparently wasn't the issue). Colbie is absolutely amazing! Just to preface this, I work in Home restoration (water, fire, mold damage for 8 years) and I have never come across someone so professional. Colbie came out on a Sunday afternoon at about 4pm. Long story short, my AC went out and I called Colbie on Sunday (He was recommended by a really honest contractor we work with) and I'm 1000% happy with everything that happened. After having our annual tuneup and HVAC inspection before the summer, another vendor had informed us that our HVAC had a leak in the attic. That vendor also told us that we needed 5 to 10 pounds of refrigerant, which seemed odd since the system was still cooling. My neighbor recommended calling Croffoot Heating And Air - and I'm glad that we did! Andy arrived on time and was professional. After inspecting in the attic, he confirmed there was a leak but that we needed much less refrigerant than previously told by the other vendor. This company is the best of the best! Absolutely floored from start to finish and I have referred them many times over! When our old A/C's started to fail, like most, we first called a company who advertises often on tv. Our upstairs unit wasn't working at all so they told us we needed at least one new unit and the other shortly thereafter. They added Freon to our broken unit getting it running where they said we may have roughly two months to replace, and charged us $600. The next day while I'm at work, they gave a bid of $14,800 for one unit (14 seer two stage) also telling us our attic was poorly insulated and could be cause for concern as it lessens the life of an A/C! My wife went ahead and gave a $1000 deposit for insulation and said she needed to discuss the pricing on A/C with me. They then told her this 'special offer' was only good until the end of the day! I'm sorry, but I'm in sales and I know BS! I called them, and told them even if they were the best price, I'll never use them simply because they use this tactic! Demanded my money for insulation deposit as well and started shopping around. I researched A/C's online, now having a good idea of price, and what I wanted, we literally had almost 20 different companies give a bid. Most were the same, feeling like I'm being sold, almost making my skin crawl. My last bid from Croffoot and I knew I was using them after meeting the owner regardless of the bid! I got an honest opinion, great advice, even set expectations with timeframes on how long it might take to get them delivered as I wanted a certain brand and seer rating, and possibly a variable speed. Received my bid the next morning, top of the line Trane variable speed A/C's at a great price! (Literally spent only a few thousand more than what the first 'Integrity' company was charging for ONE unit!). And oh, my upstairs unit failed 3 times while waiting on our new unit, and Mr. Croffoot arrived within an hour of our call, got it running again and all for FREE! Incredible! After installation, we also received a Rebate of $2000 which I guarantee, those others would have kept! And BTW, I didn't need insulation as told to me by multiple others, and Mr. Croffoot explained exactly what we had, and we had more than what's sufficient! I initially thought a spaceship was landing on my roof but it was just my AC unit making a weird noise. The AC unit started blowing warm air. Turned off the AC for the night and called Croffoot the next day. They had a tech at our house the same day. It cost $550 for a condenser motor and $618 total. I'm satisfied with the overall service. I learned of Croffoot by multiple recommendations, all of which were positive. I received no special treatment or incentive by posting this review. We recently had Kirk come out and give us an estimate to replace our aging HVAC system. We bought the house back in July of 2020 and the home inspection showed that we would eventually have to deal with this so we opted to get it done before the summer heat set in. Kirk made it easy to understand what was needed, he explained options and answered all of our questions. He provided us with a quote and we made our selection based on our needs along with some research online. It is a 5 Ton Trane 22 SEER Variable Speed System. Kirk and his crew arrived on time and got everything installed in about half a day. They respected our home, cleaned everything up and took all the old parts and pieces when they were done. I have had the pleasure of speaking with Susie, who is co-owner and Kirk's wife, a few times with questions and to process our SRP rebate, which we received in about 2 weeks. Professional! Courteous! Enthusiastic! Prompt! We selected Croffoot Heating & AC to determine why the back part our house was not getting much air, and to service the heating unit. Our initial contact was via email and Susie was very prompt in responding (a good sign). Kirk serviced our heating unit and determined our problem was due to faulty duct work. Shortly thereafter Kirk came back and made the necessary repairs, and we clearly have more air going to the back part of the house - Yea! Prior to both of Kirk's on-time visits, Susie called beforehand to let us know he was on his way (a greatly appreciated touch). When Kirk was finished he told us that the ducting made need re-balancing in the summer months, and that he would do it for no charge - and that Susie will be following up on this (which I have no doubt). He also offered suggestions on how to improve our AC's efficiency in the summer months. Kirk is punctual, neat, very personable, and CLEARLY knows what he is doing. Susie was very friendly, efficient and courteous.
