We recently purchased a home in Sun City and discovered that significant damage had been done to portions of our rooftop HVAC ductwork during a roof replacement project performed by another contractor. We contacted Ideal Air Conditioning and Insulation, and Brian Kearley came out to inspect all three of our rooftop AC systems. The level of professionalism, technical knowledge, and attention to detail Brian demonstrated was outstanding. This inspection took place during brutal Arizona summer conditions with temperatures well over 100 degrees. Brian spent hours both on the roof and crawling through the attic inspecting every portion of the HVAC system. Even while working in extreme heat, he remained professional, focused, and incredibly thorough. What impressed us most was his ability to identify problems that could have easily been overlooked. Brian discovered that two of our three rooftop units had major gaps between the units and the ductwork penetrating the roof, causing conditioned air loss. He explained that the correct repair would likely require cranes to remove and reinstall the units so properly fabricated ductwork could be installed. He also discovered damage to the insulated external ducting on our third unit where portions of the ductwork had fused to the previous roofing material and were damaged during roof removal. Brian took extensive photographs, carefully inspected airflow and duct integrity, evaluated mounting conditions, and created a very detailed report and repair estimate explaining everything clearly and professionally. It is rare these days to find someone who combines technical expertise, honesty, work ethic, and customer communication the way Brian does. He clearly takes pride in doing things correctly rather than simply rushing through a service call. My husband and I first heard of Ideal A/C & Installation at the Phoenix Home Show in January when we stopped by their booth. We recently purchased a home in Phoenix and were aware that we should have our A/C units serviced in the winter. We had a good feeling from our chat with them, and booked a maintenance call. Matt serviced our A/C units and showed us the condition things were in. As new homeowners, we were unaware of how good or bad the units were, and Matt helped us see we could be running them more efficiently and safely if he made some repairs after servicing. We went ahead with the recommended fixes, and he made all the repairs while he was here. The initial experience was outstanding! I had searched long and hard for a solution to my upstairs office as it was getting so hot. Ideal Air came out and gave me a quote for a mini-split AC unit. We discussed pricing and they were able to come out quickly to do the work. While they were there, they found a way to reduce the cost of the work. The work was completed, and then they asked for payment. Weeks went by with no contact and then one day they reached out requesting more money. It was never explained that everything wasn't paid in full when they came out and did the work and were now asking for $800 more. It wasn't so much that they were asking for more money (which once it was broken down, it made sense), it was their attitude and how quick they were to sending to me collections. They claimed they phoned me but I never received any calls. I told them I didn't believe I owed more money and then one day I received a notice of cancellations. It also was sent with a notice to reply by a specific date that already passed so essentially they sent me a notice to pay by a date that had already passed. Last year I replaced my home's A/C and had all the ductwork redone. Ideal Air was one of the bids I received for the work, and they were the outstanding choice for me, both in terms of price and their proposal. Refused to address issues related to the poor quality installation which is falling apart after less than 3 years. Never accepted responsibility for installation issues from the start but instead blamed the customer. Characterized me as difficult for expecting professional installation and honoring the purchase contract. A $18,000 contract! And the gaslighting/DISRESPECT. Unfortunately our 16 year old air conditioner units were approaching the end of life despite several recent summer repairs, and the south facing rooms were extremely hot during the summer despite window shades. After obtaining a few insulation evaluations it was clear the home also could use more insulation due to contraction of old attic cellulose, plus new a/c units. Although we have had great service from other air conditioner companies we decided to go with Ideal based on the listing on the manufacturer's web site of local installation companies trained and certified for installation of our brand, plus their experience with insulation, and excellent reviews. We contacted Ideal and Ryan came out for a site visit, spent a lot of time answering questions, did not appear rushed, provided quotes including rebate discounts for several options and followed up with us. We decided to opt for the new a/c system and bringing our insulation to meet the R38 standard. Cristian Z and his excellent team removed the old units and installed the new heat pumps with environmentally friendly refrigerant, and installed new attic exchangers, over two days. Cellulose insulation was added on a third day. As mentioned in other reviews, the cost was expensive, especially because of the units we chose, but the work was extremely professional done by an obviously experienced and personable team who used modern equipment to protect the outside units from the extreme sunshine, heat and surge protection. They made necessary changes to the circuit box going over the changes at the end. Cristian took time to go over management of the units using our thermostats. It's a fact of life that in order to live in the Phoenix area good air conditioning and insulation are needed in the summers. My experience with Ideal for installation of new air conditioning units, and insulation, was excellent supporting the numerous other five star reviews. Obviously each situation will vary depending on budget and needs, but if your a/c is in need of replacement the team from Ideal that installed our new higher tech units demonstrated why they have such great reviews and are listed as recommended installers by our manufacturer. I had a tech come out to inspect my AC unit, he told me the drain needed to be redone and the air fins needed to be cleaned. I accepted. I'm not sure what he did, now my AC drips constantly from the condensation and my lower level ducts don't send out very much air, I didn't have this problem before this company "fixed" my unit. This was not worth the price. Update: The company sent out the tech again to make sure everything was working properly. He stated his readings were in the normal range and showed me. The reason I'm giving three stars is because I had another company come out to inspect my unit, they had normal readings also, but they found some issues that weren't found with this tech. For example, there is an opening in the unit that is sucking in outside air, causing hot air to be pulled in and dirtying the fins also. read more

Subject: Concern Regarding Recent A/C Repair Service - Poor Workmanship and Overcharging I'm writing to formally share my experience with a recent service from Ideal air conditioning, which left me disappointed and caused significant inconvenience to my tenant. My A/C unit had stopped working, and I contacted Ideal Air Conditioning for service. I was initially told that there would be **no service charge**, which I later learned was a communication error. When the technician called the next day, he stated that the unit needed to be **replaced**, but I clarified that it only needed **repair**. Due to your scheduling limitations, I had already lost a full day without A/C, and my tenant was understandably frustrated in the Arizona heat. At this point, I was told there would be a **\$110 service call fee**, but I had no choice but to proceed, as finding another technician would have meant another day's delay. Upon arrival, the technician quoted a replacement of the **run capacitor and fan motor**. After some discussion, he admitted the motor was still functioning, though it had resistance. I instructed him to only replace the **capacitor**. However, instead of installing the specified rated capacitor, he installed a **Turbo 200 universal capacitor**, which I later discovered costs about **$80 on Amazon**, yet I was charged **$440** for it. The *$110 service fee** was also added, bringing the total to over **$550 for just a capacitor replacement**--a cost that seems highly inflated. The service was completed on **Tuesday, June 11**. Unfortunately, by **Sunday evening**, my tenant reported that the **same issue recurred**. I contacted Ideal again, and this time the technician quoted me over **$1,000 to replace the fan motor**, without giving me a confident explanation of the diagnosis. At this point, I decided to call a **different local A/C technician**, who quickly identified the root cause of the problem. He found that the **Turbo 200 capacitor was supplying too much power**, which caused the **double pole contactor to blow out and cables to burn**. He shared pictures with me as evidence (which I can provide upon request). The new technician replaced the **run capacitor**, the **double pole contactor**, and also installed a **compressor start kit** (as an optional protective measure). He charged me **$400 for parts and labor**, and the A/C has been working well since. In hindsight, I regret not calling this technician sooner. I could have saved over **$550** and avoided several days of discomfort for my tenant in extreme heat. Here is the exact diagnostic message from the second technician: --- **Diagnostics:** "Unit double pole contactor is blown out. System run cap is no good anymore as well. It has a universal run cap that pulls too much power and burns out components. Compressor is not grounded. Unit is repairable." **Recommended Repairs:** * Replace Dual Run Capacitor * Replace Double Pole Contactor * Install Compressor Start Kit (to protect compressor on startup) --- I hope this feedback is taken seriously, as I believe the original service was overpriced, improperly executed, and failed to address the issue, ultimately creating further damage. -Suresh Lalwani P.S: I can share before picture showing the issue caused by work done by Ideal. read more

They gave me couple options to install new AC units. Price is reasonable and they found rebate for me by APS. They took whole day to remove old unit and install new one.
