We have used Northstar like 4 times. He's very passionate about what he does and worries about fire safety when it comes to dryers. Many home fires are caused by lint buildup in the dryer, dryer vents etc. The first house we had him check, our vent was in bad shape. So many corner turns and screws sticking into the vent, there was tons of lint. Very scary. He made sure it was lint free in every way. Our current home, he's been here twice, both times no issues. I have recommended him numerous times over the years. He also vacuums the inside of your dryer to clean out all the lint inside your dryer. My only frown this time was the dryer hose came off the dryer and hubby can't get it back on. Update: I told by Matt at the time of service that he thought my vent came apart in the attic, so he wouldn't continue the cleaning, but I paid him in full. He recommended his friend who was a handyman to come look at it and repair it. He told me that it could be quite involved, that he thought maybe part of the vent was round and part was square, and he said that lint was probably blowing in my attic, which could cause an attic fire. I was told the repair could be up to $1000. I had a contractor friend come over to assess the situation and nothing was wrong with the vent. He put a new vent in for me since the other was older. I feel like I was taken advantage of because I'm a female and I'm sure he gets a kick back from his friend. read more

Our dryer was not working properly. While under warranty still we had diagnostics done and were told everything checks out we must have a vent clog. Hired a different company to clean vents but dryer still was not working properly. After some research found Northstar and let Matt know what was going on. After cleaning lint inside, he got up on the roof and realized the pipe fitting on the roof had been painted shut! He fixed that and cleaned up just a handful of lint that had backed up behind it.
