Last year on my birthday we waited an hour and a half and never got our food the manager said they were just so busy they lost out order.

10/31/23 around 3 pm: Sorry to say, take out order was so bad we had to throw it out. The refried beans were a hard lump of paste, no seasoning, not even salt. The order was supposed to be beef tacos but were tasteless soggy chicken tacos instead. The crackers were stale; the shrimp cocktail was good. I usually don't post reviews but I depend on other people posting so that I know about situations. Figured I would to prevent someone else's disappointment, to offer caution. Been going here for a few years, once or twice a month. It's a busy place, but I've not had to wait overlong. The manager (owner?) knows us by sight and is very friendly, very hands-on with making sure his establishment is running smoothly. The new expansion seems to be paying dividends. No one acknowledged me when I walked in -too busy playing around at a booth full of workers --finally I'm noticed and sat with the young lady having a very dry attitude clearly not happy to see a customer in this not busy at all restaurant setting! Couldn't even eat there on my lunch break because I was sat at a booth and left to starve!! While the group of workers sat at that booth (near the desk) still laughing and talking no one ever came over for drink order, water nothing! I've been coming to this restaurant often on for several years. for the most part it's always just been Soso. Over the last few months they have really started to up their game. Customer service is very much improved over what it used to be in the food quality has become much more consistent. The only thing that keeps me from giving them five stars is that they are just like every other East Coast Mexican restaurant. It tends to be Americanized. No if they would start adding some authentic Mexican dishes and make their own tortillas they would be at the five star level in my opinion. I have called in an order several times in the last 3 weeks. Each time the order when I get home, either not what I ordered, it has sat and got soggy (my salad) or it was soured. I did not call the first two times, I just threw it away. Last night, food was sour. The refried beans and ground beef were spoiled. I ordered 2 taco supremes, they only had cheese on the supreme and the meat was spoiled. I had taco salad, and authentic guacamole 7.95, not good. Total 25.00. We were not able to eat our food. I closed containers back up and called restaurant. She offered to remake me the meal, but, it was late and I did not have time to drive back to the restaurant. They had a little wait for being seated and waited on however they more than made up for it once the server came. Finally tried the Piña Loca. Chicken, chorizo, onion & cheese in a pineapple shell, with mango salsa. Very tasty and tropical. Haven't seen this anywhere else. I would definitely recommend this!! I have several favorite Mexican establishments, each has a unique menu item you don't see everywhere else. The Piña Loca is a delightful dish cooked in a hollowed out half of pineapple. You can get chicken, beef or shrimp. They add chorizo, cheese and onion. It's accompanied by a fresh-made mango salsa that compliments the entree perfectly. My favorite Mexican restaurant in Covington, GA! The staff is great. We go there all the time. Their red salsa is my favorite. They also make their own chips. Service was blah. Ok on the food. Not the best, not the worst. I had a number 6 with a broken hard shell taco. Our side of beans wasn't very hot at all. Kids steak was over cooked. Craving some queso and burrito action, we decided on grabbing dinner at El Chap. We walked in around 6 and were seated in a booth with no wait! It did start to fill up closer to 7pm though. We placed our drink order and received chips and 2 types of salsa quickly. They offer a traditional salsa and then a roasted salsa, which I preferred. Both were yummy! We got a queso (small, great size for the 2 of us) with jalapeños and went to town. The chips were crunchy and not too salty. The queso wasn't my favorite because it was runny and I like it a little thicker, but it was still good! I ordered the burrito verde with pork and it was delicious. Tender pork, tasty verde sauce with cilantro sprinkled in and sweet onions. It was huge but I tried my best to eat the whole thing--so tasty! The food seemed rushed not like any other day I get Lemon Pepper Wings, French Fries they usually give you enough for 2 people they held back on that too. My margarita $13 in a 16oz cup was terrible it was just juice so had to order another shot to go in it for $6. We wanted a pitcher they said they didn't have enough so what sell it anyway it should be first come first serve give it out as it come available next time better prepare yourself for this day.
