The food was AMAZING! I had blackened salmon without the Dijon glaze (mustard allergy) I requested med rare and it was cooked to temp PERFECTLY! The green beans were cooked like my great grandmother used to cook them seasoned with meat and wonderfully tender - fried okra was good also - I had questions and the chef herself came to the table and explained things - my companion got the African Palm butter - chicken, goat, crab, crayfish served with rice - it was a little spicy but he said it was much more flavorful than spicy - we didn't get a picture We also had a jerk chicken plantain boat appetizer that was full of flavor and a nice size to share! Ebony was our server - prompt, polite and friendly- we wanted for nothing! A lovely young lady! Black linens and sparkling glassware - a beautiful place to dine! If you're in the area, check it out! We will be back! read more

Amazing food. Great recommendations and service from Ebony. We almost licked the plates clean. The Braised Oxtail with rice was 11/10. And the jerk chicken stuffed plantain was a surprising in how well those flavors complemented each other. Zero complaints read more

This is my second time having lunch here. The owner always gives you a warm welcome and makes it her business to stop at your table and talk with you. I love her ginger beer she makes fresh. I had that, Fufu and Soup, my sister had the Palmbutter, and a side of plantains. Everything was amazing. She even has home made hot pepper sauce that packs the right amount of heat. For dessert we had her fresh made to order hot cinnamon donut. Please don't be like me, just get one because they are huge. I will be back in Georgia in a few months and I wooo be back. This is a hidden gem you must try. Let me know how you like it. read more

I decided to try this restaurant. I got the pork chops smothered and I thought the gravy was going to be thick like I saw pictured on someone else's review. I don't like watery gravy. The fish tasted too fresh and I couldn't eat it. The macaroni and cheese tasted like velveeta shells & cheese & the black eyed peas were too salty. The mixed green salad was supposed to be a caesar salad.Needless to say I didn't like anything I ordered and this wasn't cheap. I've heard great things about this restaurant but that wasn't my experience. I may give them another try in the future. The customer service was good. read more

The food is good but I had an issue and Chef Carmenia was unnecessarily rude to me in front another customer waiting on his order. Therefore, I will not be returning. Good Customer service is not Carmenia the Chef's stronghold. read more

Such a pleasant surprise! From the outside it's in a shopping center and doesn't look like much, but inside it's decorated really nicely. I came in alone and was greeted immediately. Everyone was smiling, kind and attentive the whole time. I had the catfish, fried okra and collard greens. Everything was fresh, tasty, seasoned to perfection and came out piping hot. I also had one of the signature drinks and it was delightfully strong. Chef's kiss! Cannot wait to come back with my family. read more

This place is great. The reviews are correct, it really is that good. The egg rolls were amazing. Spices temperature... all right on. Crisp outside excellent meat. You ever have a meal so good you start to question all your life choices leading up to it? That was me at Musulyn's International Restaurant. From the moment we sat down, our waiter had the kind of energy you can't fake, the kind that says, "Relax, I've got you, and you're about to eat something that will rock you." I ordered the egusi and fufu, and listen: I've eaten my way through more than a few continents, but this was different. The egusi was rich and full of heart, every bite a love letter from the kitchen, with roasted melon seed, tender smoked goat, beef, and chicken. The fufu? Smooth, warm, and comforting like an old friend who still laughs at your bad jokes. Honestly, I could've hugged the chef, but I didn't want to embarrass my date. Speaking of my date, she had the oxtails and jollof rice, and from the way her eyes rolled back mid-bite, I'm convinced she saw God for a second. It was confirmed when I tasted it. We both just sat there, speechless, soaking in the flavor and the low hum of good music and better vibes. In short: five stars aren't enough. Musulyn's didn't just feed us, they baptized us in flavor. If you're hungry, curious, or just in need of a reason to believe in happiness again, go here. read more

Stop searching and eat here!!!! You're in for a special treat - a party in your mouth!!! We read the excellent reviews and descriptions and had to give it a try it. Exceeded all our expectations from beginning to end. Some of the most flavorful food we've had. The Ox Tail was perfection!!! The fried chicken.... better than grandma's. All dishes and sides seasoned with precision. The staff were so personable, treated us like family. The chef has a special gift and I'm thankful she has dedicated herself to sharing her passion, talent & dream with the community. This will be our go to restaurant every time we visit ATL! Right off the interstate and easy, easy access. Can't wait to return to try more dishes. Vegetarian options also. read more

This review is based on two visits to Musulyns. The first visit on Aug. 23, I ordered two fried pork chop meals to go. I live about 30 minutes away, but was just leaving the hospital and too sick to cook. The hostess was so polite, professional, and patient with me. When the meal was ready, she could see me struggling to get up and walk. So, she helped me up and escorted me to my car. I will patronize this restaurant as much as possible just because of her service and compassion. For the pork chop meals, the pork chops were well seasoned. However, I didn't like the cheese used in the macaroni and cheese. It reminded me of processed cheese. And, the collard greens were too bitter to eat. I prefer a more soul food version. The mashed potatoes were garlicky and good. The yams were sweet and delicious. But, the two together weren't the best idea. The second visit Aug. 26, my daughter and I decided to dine in. The same young lady was our waitress. I totally hate that I can't think of her name. Again, she provided exceptional service. She was attentive and patient. She really has a great personality. It took us a long time to decide what to order and she answered every question we had while still being attentive to the other tables. The place has a nice vibe. I love that there was a decent amount of space between each table. My daughter enjoyed her smoked ribs meal and I enjoyed my oxtail meal. The cornbread was very good. I even ordered an extra one to take home. I'm sure we'll be back to try the brunch one day. read more

Went to this restaurant today to celebrate for Mother's Day. Waited the allotted time and over an hour and just ended up leaving with my family. The waitress/hostess starting seating others that were coming in the door while we had been patiently waiting for hour and 20 minutes. We were only a party of 3. We totally expected a wait and we were being accommodating but to seat others coming in the door with even putting their name on the wait list. read more

I drove from Ellenwood to Covington for takeout! It was worth the drive and every drop of fuel. The food was still very hot and beyond tasty. The oxtails were sold out which is why I decided to go there in the first place. It's okay, the old standby (fried chicken) did not disappoint. Neither did the catfish and fresh vegetables. I will definitely dine in on my next visit. Do yourself a favor try Musulyn's. read more

I've seen Musulyn's for a while and decided to take out my family and we were pleasantly surprised. I wanted something different to eat so I tried the pepper soup and fufu. It was actually the third African dish I've eaten and it was absolutely delicious. It had shrimp, crawfish, turkey necks and pork in this rich and spicy broth and a heaping helping of fufu. I enjoyed it very much. My wife ate ox tails, jollof rice and plantains and she enjoyed it as well. My son ate fried chicken and jollof rice and of course he loved it. The food was delicious and unique and the service was top notch as well. They actually give you a small sample of their African dishes if you'd like. I highly recommend and have been again. A much welcomed experience. read more

My goodness! I am kicking myself & hard for not trying this place earlier!! How has this been in my town, that has mostly lack luster options, has it taken me this long?! Anyways, the important thing is I know now. I'm not going to lie, I'm seriously considering going back tomorrow to try more dishes. My sister-in-law was in town visiting from CA & came across Musulyn's on here. She asked if I had been, I said, "No, but I've really wanted to! Let's go!". We started with the Fried Green Tomatoes, Plantain Boat, & Love Roll to share. All were amazing & flavorful. Not a crumb left on any of our appetizer plates. I had the Oxtails, they were so good & fall off the bone. They came with Jollof rice & collard greens. I smashed it all. My SIL had the whole grilled Red Snapper. My mom who is vegan had the Sweet Potato Curry. My dad had the Catfish with collards, Mac & cheese, & corn bread. We all really enjoyed our entrees. We shared a Biscoff Banana Pudding for dessert. I'm drooling thinking about it. I need that recipe! Now listen, my 83 year old dad is the biggest food/restaurant critic out there. We really had to do some convincing & coaxing to get him to come with us. He ate every single bite of everything! I mean bone clean plates. He is always concerned with health scores as well. When we walked through the door I reassuringly pointed out their 100 A score on the wall. That is something they should be very proud of. I say this coming from working in the bar/restaurant business for many years. Even though we did not drink this time, they have a full bar. I'll have to try a cocktail, beer or wine next time. I think this time we were just saving room for all the food we ordered. The ambiance was nice, relaxing & with great music. The icing on the cake was the amazing service! They did such a fine job. Musulyn's will definitely be one of my new favorites. We need to keep them around at all cost! This experience was all around fantastic. My heart & belly are full. Oh & PSSSST by the way, for you guys that DoorDash they are available on there too. read more

What a gem! We wanted to try something new as we live in Monroe and have been to all the restaurants there. We drove to Covington on a dreary Sunday specifically to try Musulyn's. Let me tell you we were absolutely delighted. The service was outstanding. Maya was charming and checked on us regularly to make sure we had what we needed. Chef Carmenia (sp) came out to see how our food was and chat. I ordered a ginger beer non-alcoholic which I thought would come in a can but was homemade and spicy and delivered in a bottle that we could take with us. I had the salmon with fried plantains which were beautiful, fresh and hot. The salmon was a healthy portion and juicy hot as well. My partner's collard greens were up to and beyond his standards as was the chicken. We have to go back and order something different and try the egg roll apps. Thank you for a proper eating experience. You won't be disappointed. Oh! We started eating before I remembered to take a pic! read more

How did I just now discover this gem tucked away less than 10 mins from me? My dish was absolutely delicious. I ordered the Braised Oxtails & Gravy that comes on a bed of rice with a side of extra rice and Candied Yams. 2 plantains came on the side. The Oxtails were so tender and full of flavor. I can cry typing this lol. The plantains were delicious, moist, and sweet. The yams were also amazing. I promise I may reorder this for dinner tomorrow. I ordered Oxtails, Jollof rice, Black eyed peas and it came with plantains. SWEET BABY JESUS!! Yummm... I also ordered Ribs with another order of Black eyed peas (delicious) and Mac and cheese, and a veggie plate with more Mac and cheese, green beans, candied yams, and greens to go. When I say, NOTHING disappoints, NOTHING! Maya was patient, attentive, kind and full of customer service and the majorly TALENTED Chef Carmenia Brown Tyrus came out to deliver (greeting and bringing food) pure love delectably.
